I love their fish hot pot, seasonal market price. The restaurant really small but always crowded. This restaurant also has fried pork instestine. Lunch is $ 5.95 per dish. Highly recommend. Free house desert after meal.

Once you enter the restaurant, the whole place smelled like Chinese herbs. The smell was a bit overwhelming. We had a party of 11 people so we ordered quite a few entrees. They start you off with a complimentary snack; we got broccoli stalks marinated in sesame oil. It was so addicting! One of my favorites! Some dishes we ordered: –Hainan chicken: it tasted good and wasn’t bad at all. –Sea Bass hotpot: we got regular and spicy! Each pot was full of rectangular pieces of sea bass. I like the regular hot pot better because the spicy one had bean sprouts. The pots were endless and they kept refilling it with herb soup. –Fried Pork Intestine: good but I’ve had better. –Calamari: delicious and full of flavor! –Fried Tofu: little cubes of fried tofu with sweet sauce. I didn’t really prefer this dish. –Frog Pot: great flavor and it came out steaming! –Crispy seafood noodle: everyone loved this dish! –Black chicken herb soup: delicious if you like this soup full of herbs! For dessert, they gave us complimentary papaya soup. It was really sweet.

Food is always great! Gotta try the stone pot soup with fish! Service is friendly and the food is extremely fresh. I will definitely come again…

This was ordered by me, taken to another table by the waitress and eaten by another table, then the waitress had realized it was on the wrong table, took it from the other table, took it back to the kitchen and 10 seconds later served it to us! The moment she set it on our table I told her: shouldn’t you make a new one for me now that this was already eaten by other people… She paused and said she’ll check and took it back… 2 mins later a guy came out with it and served it on our table! I didn’t eat a single thing after this! There is no reasoning with these people at a chinese restaurant like this! I told my husband that I don’t care how much you like their fish soup here! I am NEVEREATINGHEREAGAIN!!! I told the waitress to take it back and toss it! VERYVERYVERYVERYANGRYRIGHTNOW!

Was a long time customer before owners changed. New waiters and new owners, but the new owners should know us after we’ve been there many times after ownership changed. As Asian restaurants are, service is horrible. Last visit was a typical day, but especially worse than before. Sat down, didn’t get any menus, no water, no service so I had to keep flagging down the waiters. New owner didn’t acknowledge our need for service and when ordering food, kept pushing for more dishes… for 2 adults and a baby. I think 3 dishes is enough, Used to serve soup before meal and a dessert, but didn’t get any this time. Got our order quick, but that was all the service we got this time. Had to get up and get our own boxes to pack up before going. In short, don’t think I’ll be coming back. Gave them 2 tries and this time was enough for me. Gonna venture elsewhere.

The fish pot is good. There are many kinds of choices. The price is very affordable especially in the lunch time.

The Fish Hot Pot is Okay, slightly pricey and a bit salty. However, the services suck, and the owner is greedy, we order the stone pot rice and asked for some more sauce and he said«What you need that for? Take it home to stock it? Next time I’ll charge you more for it!». Well, I’m making sure there won’t be a next time ever cause they’ve just lost a customer. By the way, I’ve been there quite a few time and have been order to go from them as well and still got treated like that?

This was truly a hole in the wall kind of place. Great for family gathering. There was nothing fancy here but the food was amazing. They made delicious woks/pots. They came with different sizes and you could add small items to the pot. Towards the end of the meal, they gave complimentary desserts. I will definitely return.

My family always comes here for family gatherings/special events and on the rare occasions we randomly go out to eat. We usually get the large stone wok. Pretty intense when they bring it out, bubbling and looking heavy AF. I love love love the sea bass in it. My family is super Asian so they usually order soft shell tortoise as well. My favorite vegetable to eat here is the braised large bean sprouts with fresh tofu skin as well as the stir fried pumpkin slices with the Chinese yam and wood ear fungus. On occasion we get lobster, and the best way to eat this is to have it steamed with a bunch of garlic(loveeee garlic) glass noodles surrounding the lobster so all the lobster juices are soaked up!!! MMMmmM omgaaah nomz.

The new«it» place for my family. The kitchen is good. Lunch selection is extensive – the plus is low price with special deal. Buy three and get the fourth half off. Lunch until five now. Have not have a bad dish yet… fingers cross…

A failed, late-night attempt at getting on Chengdu Taste’s waitlist led us here. We just wanted something hot and comforting on a very cold winter night. Between 4 of us, we ordered the medium fish pot, clams with black bean sauce and the pea sprouts with garlic. Fish pot: This is sold at market price and you can get it spicy or non-spicy. The fish is Chilean sea bass slices. In a medium pot, the fish portion was generous and goes for $ 30. The broth is slightly tangy, spicy and savory. It came with fish, fresh slices of tomatoes, bean sprouts, daikon radish, and Napa cabbage(? Or maybe it was iceberg lettuce). You can order things to add to the pot like other veggies, balls(beef, fish, etc.)… we got a plate of bean curd for $ 1.99 to add to ours. I liked everything about this pot except the fish, unfortunately. It had a strange taste and I didn’t love the texture of boiled Chilean sea bass. I prefer it grilled or pan-seared. Cod or sole would be better for such a pot. The flavor of the broth is definitely unique. Clams with black bean sauce: For $ 13 or so, the plate was big but there was sand in some of the clams and it wasn’t as hot in temperature as we like. Pea sprouts with garlic: This was cooked really well. The pea sprouts were tender and perfectly cooked. It costs about $ 15. The owners here are Cantonese speakers. They have some stranger things on their specials menu — things I’ve never heard of like pork lung soup, little eels, big eels, etc. etc. The waitress, an employee, was very nice and sweet. The manager(and probably owner) was so pushy with trying to get us to order more food and especially with ordering something from the specials menu. I really hate it when you say«no, thank you» and they keep pushing. Their menu is pretty big and has a lot of classic Cantonese dishes. I’m not sure I would come back anytime soon given all the options in the area.

HOLEINTHEWALLALERT! Yes, it is a small place, so you might miss it driving down Garvey. I wanted to try their special fish stew. I got a small spicy one, which is pretty big portion and actually might feed up to 3 people. The fish stew can be described as a Chinese style of a Vietnamese dish. If you’re Vietnamese, you should know what«canh chua» is, it is essentially the same concept but not as sweet or sour. I came during the lunch special, which is everyday and ends at 6PM! Every dish listed for lunch special comes with rice and soup. Only 5.95! Such a good deal. I would recommend the seafood hot pot from the lunch special menu! THe amount of food is pretty good for the price too! The service is pretty good for a Chinese place. I will definitely come back!

Whoa, this place is a proper restaurant. From the look of it, I was expecting a casual affordable family restaurant. Instead, I got a restaurant where prices are not cheap + extensive menu. Their most popular dish — fish stew(pot or wok whatever it’s called)(sm $ 14.99) was good in a way. The sea bass was fresh but the broth is salty and way richer than what I was expecting. They also have a spicy version. If you can stomach ethnic food, then try Fried intestine. I thought it was tasty. Sautéed «A» veggie(A菜) was good, but nothing to write home about. Comes with complimentary dessert.

My friends decided on chinese food for dinner. I ended up picking up the food after work before the lunch special ended. Each dish is $ 5.95 before 6pm. We decided to order Mapo tofu, pork chop in Peking sauce, pork chop in spicy salt, chicken with vegetables, steamed spareribs with black bean sauce, filet mignon with black pepper sauce, and sautéed string bean with minced meat. My favorite was sauteed string bean with minced meat. I thought everything didn’t have as much flavors but for the price it was okay. The list of choices is huge. They also provided boxes of rice and soup to go with your meal. Overall, I would order again if I needed a quick meal for dinner or come back to try their famous fish-stone pot.

Yay! I’m a fan. I live in the area, and didn’t know when this restaurant changed to the boiling seafood wok. BF decided to try this place one night when we didn’t know what we were craving nor had an idea of what to eat. What we ordered: Complimentary cucumber to start. For our entrée: a small size of their famous fish stone pot, sweet and sour pork ribs, and chopped green beans with shredded pork. What we wished we knew — the fish stone pot can be also a hot pot. You can get a la carte noodles, veggies, extra fish, etc. There’s always next time. This place is DELICIOUS!!! The fish stone pot that contained cod, pickled cabbage, celery, tomato, turnip, and mushroom Expect bad service. However, in their defense, there was a large table and after they were finished, there was more attentive service with tea refills. Pro tip: You can ask for extra brought. Parking: shares a lot with Mr. Steve’s donuts. There’s extra parking behind the restaurant. Can be pricey, our meal came out to about 45 for the two of us.

Slave girl and I found a new place in the hood and we kept saying we should go and try. Well, weeks passed and tonight I was like, hey, let’s hit that place and finally we were there. The service sucks as most Asian places would be and I totally hold a different standard when I go to places like this. The restaurant was packed when we were there around 8:30. We got free cucumber to start, and for dinner we ordered a small size of their famous fish stone pot, sweet and sour pork ribs, and chopped green beans with shredded pork. To my surprise, they were ALL delicious! Especially the fish stone pot that contained cod, pickled cabbage, celery, tomato, turnip, and mushroom. So tasty and flavorful. What we didn’t know was you can also order side items for the stone pot to make it more hot pot alike. Score! I hope they will never change their broth because it’s something I would go back for over and over. At the end of our meal, they gave us this sweet rice, taro dessert soup thing. I am more than pleased with this place and will go back again.

Portions pretty big. Service is fast. Food is good. Gotta order their spicy fish pot. It came in a stone pot on a stove. Though our small pot didn’t have too many fish, but they were fresh with great texture. Pork intestine was pretty good too.

Been coming to this restaurant location for years and always had great service. Came in for lunch with family on a weekday. Restaurant name change and under new ownership. Some of the original servers are still running the restaurant. We were seated by the restroom. Service was a bit slow today waited 30 mins for our tea pot and had to ask servers several times(2 ladies). We even got out of our seats to serve ourself. The older gentleman(guessing is the owner) waved use off when we asked for a tea cup and just walked away. Typical Asian run restaurants so be prepared for unpredictable services. Can be a hit and miss!!! Would have rated lower for service but rating is for food. Overall food was tasty and good. Ordered entrees: Green beans(crunchy and with a kick) Fried whole sole(perfectly Fried) Beef stew(perfectly cooked and tasty but over loaded with turnips) Fried calamari(perfectly fried) Preserved veggies with braised pork(a shade undercooked: pork was not as tender as usual and hardly any preserved veggies) soup(was on the house)

OMG !! We found a new gem in Rosemead !! First off, my friend recommended this place to me, but actually I’m not a fan of any dishes which made of fish except fried fish, coz I don’t like its fishy smell. But I totally love this place from the beginning until the end of the meal. I came to this place with my bf and ordered small size original fish stew as we just have only 2 people. It comes with a dish of enoki mushroom. The fish meat here was a hit, they use cod fish for stew which was very fresh, good texture and sweet. The broth was very tasty and well cooked. We also had beef loc lac and it was very tender and juicy. I bet this place has a real chef for sure !! The service here was good. All the servers can speak English well, and gave us services with kindness. They also served us fresh cut orange after we finished our meal. Definitely recommended to all Unilocalers and friends !! Yummy yummy, my tummy is so happy: D
