Hilton Garden Inn Austin/Round Rock Hotel

The stars are for the staff and general facility. When you stay at a motel (and this isn’t a hotel), you pay for a bed with amenities. The bed was the worst I’ve slept on in a year — and that includes two weeks on a cot camped by the Zambezi River. It has a hole in it with at least a 4″ deflection.
Way below par for a chain of this caliber. Terrible in fact.

We have stayed at many hotels, but this hotel by far has the best customer service I have ever seen! They go above and beyond to make sure you have an awesome experience with them! Whether you are on business or vacation, I would definitely choose this hotel.

I travel quite a bit for work, so when I was booked to stay at the Hilton garden inn in round rock, TX I was not surprised at the great service and value. I stayed for 16 days. My room was very comfortable and the staff took very good care of me and my coworkers. Janea and Rachel at the front desk can help you with anything you need from restaurant suggestions to nightlife options. The ladies serving breakfast every morning have a very sunny outlook on life that makes you start your day on a positive foot. I wasn’t able to use the pool or hot tube but I seriously thought about using the gym… ha!

So maybe the second time isn’t a charm… the service here is still very good. From the front desk to the restaurant to the housekeeping staff across the board everyone is friendly and helpful. You do have to look at the facility though. My room this time had some issues: the diverter valve in the shower doesn’t work correctly (my toes got more spray than my head); the toilet valve sticks, so you had to jiggle the handle each time (when I looked inside it was clear they had tried a repair, but it didn’t work); the wallpaper in the bathroom is peeling; then we go to the exercise room where the treadmills are old and the video/​audio on them is worn out. When I tried the large TV in the room I found it didn’t work, and they couldn’t be bothered to replace the batteries in the clock on the wall.
Oh well, great service, and a worn facility makes the experience a mixed bag. As the saying goes… lipstick on a pig…
You must provide good service AND pay attention to the details of the faculty too.

So disappointed in this hotel. We had been in contact with its sales manager for months leading up to our wedding for our block of rooms for the wedding. First, the woman we dealt with on the phone to book the block of rooms initially never entered it into the system. If I hadn’t called a month later to check in, who knows what would have happened.
On the Wednesday before the wedding on Saturday, my dad dropped of bottles of sparkling water with tags tied to them giving information about the cocktail hour after rehearsal dinner and the shuttle to the wedding. The staff didn’t put them in the rooms, even though they promised to. We found out at the rehearsal dinner that none of the guests got them. When I asked why they didn’t get them out, they said they were having a really busy weekend and they were sorry! That was so unacceptable. The information we were trying to get to our guests was pretty pertinent to the weekend. If they couldn’t do it, they should have let us know so we could figure something else out.
After everything, they charged my credit card for our room, even though my mom told them she would take care of it. She was trying to be nice, and it just ended up being another headache. The people that worked for this hotel were so incompetent that I feel bad for them. I really would recommend to anyone needing to stay in Round Rock or the surround areas to book ANY other hotel. This one was awful

Check in at 3pm they say, 2hrs later we finally get our room. Room was small a bit dated and also not the beds we asked for. Everything else was mediocre. Won’t stay here again though. Good job Hilton.

POORLY maintained hotel! Air conditioning in my room did not work. It was so hot I had to put my hair up just to get ready for work. It’s Texas and it’s 80+ degrees– maintain your hotel! Very disappointed.

Will c. And Nancy r. Posted accurate reviews. The one thing I would add is that the front door, bathroom door, and closet doors all hit each other. Made getting ready for a wedding frustrating, and loud! It was 50 degrees outside and I had to use the loud ac to get it down below 75 in the room. The cable tv had poor reception and wifi is not free. Avoid this place if possible, it was not worth the 138 dollars per night.

From the reviews you would think this was a goat pen. It’s more than Ok, it’s pretty nice. Great front desk clerks and the lobby looks brand new. The price was really reasonable and the room was just fine.

I have stayed here a few times over the past couple of years. Never had a problem. Room was always ready and clean. Never had an issue with staff until this morning. I wanted a omelet. Told the chef what I wanted in it and he didn’t have half of the ingredients. Then he told me to read the sign on the wall if I wanted to know what he had and turned his back and walked away. What a donkey! I turned my back and checked out. Front desk didn’t care that I was ticked. Guess I won’t be back. But hey looks like they don’t need the business. Hilton hotels are just not what they used to be. Word to the wise Hilton group I’ve seen me big name brand businesses go under over the years and if you keep it up you may join those ranks.

This hotel was awful. They upgraded the downstairs entry area but nothing else. There was absolutely no upgrades in the rooms and probably hasn’t been in several years. There is no free wifi. You have complimentary wifi for 1 day only and if you sign up for the Hilton Honors you may enter a code to get wifi for the rest of your stay. If not they will charge you daily. Breakfast is $ 9 a person! We opted to go to Cracker Barrel since it’s so close and got a large breakfast for much cheaper. The walls must be paper thin because we could hear pretty much everything in the rooms around us. I probably could’ve carried on a conversation with the people in the next room. If you are looking for comfort and quality definitely looks elsewhere.

We have stayed at this hotel several times and I’m never disappointed. The staff is courteous. The rooms are clean and spacious. It is my favorite place to stay in round rock. It has a very nice pool.

Comfortable rooms. Any issues quickly resolved. Staff at front desk, john and asst manager juan were extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent and all the breakfast staff did a great job, clean, fast and tasty! Thank you

Avoid. Despite the great friendly staff, it’s just not comfortable or business friendly.
– The wifi Internet is virtually non-​existent. The Ethernet connection in the room did not work and the wifi could barely allow me to send an email.
– My room was 75 all night for two nights. They kept trying to fix the AC, including me standing in my PJs at 11:30 PM while a maintenance man took it apart.
– They do not have room service as advertised. The room service is actually the restaurant next door putting your filet in a box and plastic bag with some plastic utensils and walking it over to the hotel.
– Their satellite TV had horrible reception to the point of making any show unwatchable.
– You are in the middle of nowhere suburbia with no reliable shuttle. The shuttle was a no-​show or an hour wait. Cabs to Austin are $ 70.
Many better options in the Austin area.

I’m not a fan. I was in the area for work and try to stay at Hilton chain hotels (HHonors Member), but I’d pass on this one next time for a couple reasons:
The fitness center was small and always busy and HOT.
Normally when I work long hours out of town I enjoy the hour or so just before bed to watch TV, but I only had a handful of channels because the cable wasn’t working. I talked to the front desk about it and they gave me some excuse about the provider. They tried to fix it by giving me a reduced rate or free breakfast, none of which I care about when I’m working out of town on the company dime (I explained this to the front desk and they seemed confused by what I was trying to say).
All the being said, the room was clean enough and comfortable. I’ll keep going to Hilton chain hotels, just not this one.

I am in Round Rock fairly frequently for work, and this was my first time to stay here. This is quite literally right off of I35 so if you can’t find it you’re really a loser. LOSER. Just look for the Holiday Inn Express and the Cracker Barrel. They’re right next door.
Check in is fast and easy. Typical HGI with free wifi and if you’re Silver, free bottled water when you check in. Marriotts and Hiltons do not offer free breakfasts. Get over it. The only hotels that do are usually bottom of the line in that family and it’s usually donuts or junk in a bag. If you didn’t see «free breakfast» included, don’t smack them in a review for it.
There are no controls on the AC units. It’s a digital wall unit. On the side of the bed, there’s an adjustment to make the bed softer or firmer. Housekeeping could be better, I’m really particular about the shower and this wasn’t the best I’ve seen.
Still, no complaints. Instead of staying two nights, I stayed one as my trip was cut short by rescheduling.

Hotel is a bit deceiving. Price was $ 99, but then charges $ 10 per person for breakfast. Rooms are nicely furnished, but not maintained. So the AC had no controls (knobs broken off completely) — resulting in a veritable temperature rollercoaster, ranging from Alaska-​ish to Rain Forest humid. The main lamp wouldn’t turn off (unless you pulled the plug), and water gushed from both the showerhead and bath faucet at the same time. Sigh. So – overall — not a bad night’s sleep, but lots of pesky annoyances.

OK… let me say that the HGI always has a great rate, and so far this HGI in Round Rock hits all the marks flawlessly. The three main highlight points I want to emphasize:
–Maria, the night clerk is awesome. She always has my reservation ready, and now knows me everytime I call.
–The morning breakfast chef makes the best homemade salsa verde I have ever tasted, and I don’t just mean best in a hotel setting.
–The rooms are always spotlessly clean, even for early check in, yet I have never seen a maid. I do not know how they do this.
