If you are not Boathouse like the one in san gabriel, why would you keep the sign and the design to look EXACTLY like the other one still. CHANGEYOURSIGN.

We ordered Cantonese beer food and it did its job. Can’t go wrong with wings. :)

My parents made a poor decision to come here, but the ad they saw on tv persuaded them to ditch our Coconut Bay dinner plan. They wanted to show the beau some authentic Taiwanese style restaurant — bad idea. Parking in the Diamond Plaza on a Friday night was just horrendous. They had a Jay Chen rally, which made the parking situation even worse. I circled around the lot twice before finding something. The interior is okay — dimmed lighting throughout with a couple of TVs on the wall. The service was below average. I didn’t feel welcomed nor appreciated for the business we are giving them. They did not come around to refill our water either. The five of us order 7 dishes and a pitcher of Kirin to share. The popcorn chicken was mediocre for $ 7.99. It was definitely overpriced. Another thing that was ridiculously priced was the beef strips, and why my mom order that was beyond me. Two small strips of meat for $ 9.99, and it wasn’t even good. The rest of the dishes were greasy and unimpressive. A pitcher of beer for $ 10 seems like a pretty good deal. But don’t come here unless you’re drinkin’. Take that money elsewhere and fight for a parking spot for a better restaurant in the plaza, New Capital or President Thai.

A couple of friends were having a get together here so we can to check this place out. It’s located in the always busy Diamond Plaza on Fullerton so as always be prepared to wait awhile to find a parking spot. The place is decored like a wannabe Joe’s Crab shack with wooden tables and benches all around. But the menu is a mix of seafood and typical chinese foods. But it doesn’t seem that people really come here to eat, but instead for the always cheap beer. They feature $ 10 pitchers on the back of the menu. However, the first thing you’ll notice when you come in is how bad the service is. Good luck trying to get the waiter to come over to even take your order or even just to get an service for that matter. I mean cmon having to ask literally 3x for a cup of water or even just a fork? That’s pretty ridiculous if you ask me. Then getting it faster by just going straight to the bartender for that cup of tap water. Nice first impression. :) The food is pretty mediocre to bland at best. We were expecting a boiling crab like menu with bags of shrimp and seafood. But i guess our assumption of a cajun place was wrong. It was more like a chinese restaurant decorated like a wannabe seafood cajun place. We got some beef fried rice instead… The beef fried rice was a greasy salty mess. See how it glistens with the amount of oil they put in there, or how there only seems to be frozen mixed veggies with some beef in there. Like a couple have mentioned just about the only good reason to come here is for the cheap beer. Don’t expect to get any good food or any food for that matter. If you’re lucky you might get some bottles of beer, if they even have any it stock. Otherwise you’re stuck with what they have on tap… I would highly recommend looking else where for your food choices unless you like greasy bland foods.

Man I thought this was a boathouse! There was like no seafood on this boat. The house is practically empty and the only thing good on the menu was the beer. I came here thinking it was like cajun, but I guess they stopped doing that! Boo!

My girl and I were in the mood for some shrimp, too hungry to wait so boiling crab was not an option. We went here on a gamble, we considered the ratings and we said lets do it! As soon as we walked in we noticed something strange. for a cajun/creole place they didn’t lay out paper table cloths. Then we realized they don’t serve shrimp! Hmmmpphhh… thought that was the reason for the low ratings, the whole place was misleading. So we go through the menu picked out 3 dishes: Stir fried eggplants, steamed whole fish and popcorn chicken. To our surprise they were all delicious! Then we started wondering why the low ratings. As we read the other reviews we deduced that the place USED to be a cajun/creole place. After a failed menu, the place completely switched to Taiwanese cuisine. Bravo!!! way to go restaurant makeover! Now we have a great Taiwanese restaurant to go to without the long wait you’ll get if you go to class 101 or MJ café. I highly recommend this place! I rarely write a review but the food here is so good I don’t want it to close down :)

COMEHEREIFYOUWANTTOLOOSEWEIGHT! We came here for dinner and four friends had diarrhea and vomit, left with food poisoning from this place two weeks ago. We have notified the health department so hopefully they will do something about it. Can I not give star?

The adventurer inside of me compels me to keep trying these knock off joints. Usually, I leave sad and bitter. This is one of those times. There were no customers besides my party and when we asked for markers, we got a basket full of dried up hi-lighters. my gut told me not to order a lot of food because of the lack of crowd. i’m glad i listened because the shrimp was terrible. mushy and flavorless. i did not care for the sauce. i don’t like being mean in my reviews, but i won’t come back.

There aren’t too many places open past 10:30PM, so when my coworkers and I got off work, we decided to make our way over to BoatHouse. For a weekday night, there were no parking spaces near the restaurant… I thought to myself, «Hey, this place must be really crazy packed!» When I walked in, I discovered we were the only party. Oh, well — we had the restaurant to ourselves. The menu was… extensive, but nothing appealed to me because among all things were intestines, heart, etc. So I ordered salted peanuts($ 3.99) and corn(~$ 3) with our 5+ pitchers of beer. The salted peanuts were nothing special, and the corn was extremely syrupy sweet because of the flavor that they had rubbed on it. Both were not worth the price, but the alcohol was cheap($ 10/pitcher) and we needed some yummies. Round 2 — honey walnut shrimp after my friend from the area recommended it! For $ 10.99 a plate, I figure it must be bomb. Unfortunately for us, none of us ever had the chance to try it because I happen to be a klutz when I’m drunk. After I shattered the plate, I began to cackle, but the employee just politely asked us to be careful while he cleaned the mess. KUDOS for not slapping the crazies out of me! After ~12AM came rolling around, we asked for dices to play with and the employees were still friendly enough to trust us with 4 sets of them. I’m certain we lost some by the time we left, but we left a generous tip to compensate for the mess, broken plate, and lost dice. So overall, The Good — cheap beer, open late, friendly and quick service, interesting and small venue(chains, wooden tables and support beams, nets, separate rooms). The Bad — the price of just about everything on the menu outside of alcohol, restrooms were little dingy. It seems as if this joint earned a considerable amount of bad ratings, but in all honesty, it’s an a-okay restaurant as long as one doesn’t walk in expecting Boiling Crab. BoatHouse is BoatHouse. A little overpriced, but I’d definitely come back when I’m in need of a late night drink.

WONDERFULATTENTIVESTAFF, THE taste of the seasoning is off, way off! maybe thats why this place is never busy? never have a wait. My family and I decided to try this place cause i had been opened a few months and it looked pretty cool inside. We ordered a bit under $ 100 for 4 people Oysters, fries, 4LBS of shrimp, crawfish. The seasoning tasted just Unsatisfying. I prefer the shack. over boiling crab + this place any day!

Honestly, I do not give lots of one star but this place takes the cake. It should receive 0STARS for poor service and food. Looking forward to a new Cajun place but very disappointing for me. The service was very bad … if you are expecting waitresses to serve you your drinks or food promptly, guess again. Everyone in there area rude and can barely speak any English. Came for a friend’s birthday for drinks and shrimp. The service was slow and inattentive for the customers. The place wasn’t even packed and we didn’t receive our proper condiments or drinks fast enough. Unbeknown to me, the shrimp was going to cause some problems. Once the 1st pound of shrimp came down, I saw the bag and knew it wasn’t going to be good. The pound did not even look like a pound, tasted very fishy and the size of the shrimp is inconsistent and SMALL. I had to complain right away. I spoke to a lady, explaining to her the fishiness and size of the shrimp. She told me everything is pre-weighed. I immediately said to her that shrimp should not taste like that, fresh shrimp isn’t fishy. She slipped … she mentions that their shrimp isn’t fresh but its FROZEN. Very shocked! The next day, i got food poisoning from the shrimp. For 4 whole hours road tripping to Vegas, I was laying down to my stomach, waiting to throw up from the shrimp. I couldn’t enjoy my time at all. I will NEVEREVER come here to eat again. The only good thing about this place is the BEERPITCHERS. If you are drinking, eat before you come here. Don’t waste your time with the whole Cajun shrimp hype in this location.

* If you have been to Indian or My Friend Oyster Bar, then you know how this place works and runs* Came here with some friends to basically chill and have a couple of drinks. The locations is pretty cool cause I used to go to Life Plaza a lot so gives it a feel more than just a restaurant/bar or a «hole in the wall». The Place seems like a bit small to be honest. It looked spacious but I think because it was a dead night. We ordered pitchers of Kirin beer(if I’m not mistaken) that cost $ 10 each. With the pitchers, we got the cups with dice and began the mayhem. We ended up ordering the breaded catfish on a bed of cajun fries. The food was ok, defiantly had better but no real big complains. The thing that shined for me was the music, ELECTRO and TRANCE! At the other locations similar to this place, they usually play like Top 40 music, but this place hit the G Spot for me while getting wasted ha ha. Made my night much funner.

I haven’t tried this place for Cajun crab/shrimp but I don’t think anyone can top boiling crab. However, I came here with a couple of people just to grab a couple of beers. It is a cool place to chill with your friends. Beers are $ 10 a pitcher. You can ask for cards and dice, so you can play some drinking games with your friends. The service is pretty good. I would definitely come here again! :)

I like this place a lot, much better than the boiling crab, there is NO long wait, I really hate to wait for tables. and they have tab beer, Kirin! and they have so many side orders too. bigger menu is important to me, I need to have so many things to choose from. We ordered fresh oysters, lobster, clams, craw fish, veggies, grilled fish and beef rice. 2 pitchers of Kirin. the food and drink were more than enough, and very delicious too! loved their special house sauce. the service was pretty good, friendly and attentive. We don’t mind paying extra bucks at this place, cute décor, no wait, better service, tab beer, bigger menu, that’s all I need. :)

This review is based on my first experience here tonight. I was there around 10:30PM and it wasn’t busy at all. They’re hiring too BTW! I hate to say this, ESPECIALLY because I came here with the best people in the world, missing one, but still. This place cannot compare to Boiling Crab, even though I am tired of Boiling Crab. The menu is pretty similar to BC(seafood wise), but they have additional appetizers and even main dishes like seafood fried rice. I didn’t get to try the fried rice but it sounded really good. We ordered two pounds of cajun shrimp, 1 basket of cajun fries, and a pitcher of bud– light beer. To be honest, we wouldn’t have enjoyed it without the beer. Beer just makes food better ;) BTW, the beer wasn’t exactly one pitcher; they’re pretty stingy on that! The price is similar to BC as well, but I think it should be lower because the taste isn’t as good. The shrimp was way below my expectations and the cajun fries tasted like Mcdonald’s fries with chill pepper :( The atmosphere was calm and the service was a little bit below average. Overall, our bill turned out to be under $ 50 including tip(as far as I can remember). $ 20 for the 2 pounds of cajun shrimp, $ 10 for the pitcher of beer, and $ 6 for the cajun fries.

Friends and I had dinner here but in the end, most were dissatisfied with the quality of the food. I enjoyed what was on the table and think it tasted much better than Michael’s Cajun, but not better than BC. Reviews are on spot with it being pricier here. Décor was pretty standard but better than most places IMO. Would also be a great spot to catch a sports game because they have a very large television to cover most views from the restaurant. I ordered the usual pound of shrimp with potatoes, sausage, and corn. I disliked the large amount of garlic in the bag and the sausages. Yeah they say 10 sausages per order on the menu but damn their thinly sliced, rip off! We also ordered cajun fries and sweet potato fries and both tasted good to me. There definitely needs to be improvement here to draw in more customers and good reviews.

I really, really, really wanted to like this place, but it just doesn’t hold up against the competition in the area(The Shack, Oh! Crab, or even The Boiling Crab). I almost feel bad for writing this less-than-stellar review since they had just opened :[ sigh, but here it goes: — — — — — — — — — — — – FOOD: *Shrimp — almost, but not quite… the seasoning is too watery. *Mussels — same problem as the shrimp Fried Oysters — a bit too generic in flavor… this definitely isn’t Boiling Crab Cajun Fries — pretty much just regular fries with cajun spices sprinkled on Cajun Rice — the one thing that was actually pretty good, in fact, just skip the fries all together and order THIS! :P *Their seasoning(House Special?) is decent, but lacking. It’s too watery(which results in the seasoning not being able to stick) and there just aren’t enough ingredients in the sauce to give it «attitude». There is definitely room for improvement. Just needs a few tweaks! Get the formula right guys! VENUE: Ideal location and pretty decent atmosphere… They actually put effort into the décor and it shows. Although, I found it kind of odd that they don’t use wax paper for their table covers(since the paper they use easily gets soaked). They also let you write on the walls… which is… very original. lol SERVICE: Didn’t seem like they had many employees when we went but our waitress was nice(and pretty cute lol). She was attentive and friendly, always checking up on us and looking over to see if we were okay: P PRICE: My biggest issue was the price. Not only was the food only«okay»… the prices were just too high compared to the other cajun joints. If they want to stay competitive, they need to knock at least $ 2 off of everything. How do you go about charging that much, yet serve your sodas in cans? — — — — — — — — — — — — - All in all, they’re new so I’ll give em a break. As it is, they deserve a lesser rating, but I’m afraid that’ll only discourage people from checking it out. There is room to improve, but until they do, they won’t last long here. I really hope they address some of the issues I pointed out. They’ve really got potential. Don’t fail me Boathouse! I’ll be back to check up on ya ;)

Started with sweet potato fries and they where horrible, and 5.00 for a small basket. Be careful there website advertise a price and when you get there it’s a different price. Kinda weird that for a Cajun place is playing gangster rap music. Not cool if you have your parents With you. Especially when there dropping«f» bombs .We were the only people in the whole restaurant and the service was bad. We decided to give the shrimp a try and it’s worth the visit. Shrimp was really good. Small portions but great flavor. Worth a try Shrimp was $ 9.99 a pound for 13 medium shrimp Small basket of sweet potato fries $ 4.99 Garlic bread. 4 small pieces $ 3.99 Soda was $ 2.50 each Value was a 1 out of 5 for the small portions Service 1 out of 5 for bad service Ambiance was 2 out of 5. Nothing against gangster rap just not at a Cajun place. Flavor of the sauce is a 5 out 5… Sauce was amazing, so this place earned 3 stars total in my book… I never write reviews, so it took a lot for me to write a negative review. I would recommend the shack over this place any day of the week…

First one to write a review for BoatHouse :) I came here yesterday after seeing their sign finally up and I actually enjoyed my stay. Ordered a pound of shrimp with the house sauce mild. The sauce is not too thick like you would find at boiling crab or captain crab, and not too light. Which is perfect IMO. Mix the sauce with lemon, salt and pepper and its delicious. I have yet to try the other stuff, but according to the server, they have live crawfish, lobster and crab in the back most of the time, fresh and ready to be cooked. The setting in this place is nice and spacious. Alot of room to move and alot of seat areas. When I was there, they were playing Kaskade CD, which is a big plus for me since I love kaskade, haha. Overall, I enjoyed my first experience here and would try it again.

So it was my birthday and instead of Boiling Crab or Michael’s we wanted a new cajun seafood place to try. We go eat at Diamond Plaza alot so we’ve driven by BoatHouse many times. The décor was great. We were able to sit at a table that fit all 10 of my family in a sectioned area. Of course, like Boiling Crab, my kids had their markers handy(lil taggers). We were impressed with the menu at first, they had rice… cajun fried rice… deep fried mushrooms… bbq. We thought, «yay! hit the jackpot!» My son doesn’t eat shrimp and my nephew is allergic to seafood so there is a variety of foods to choose from! We ordered 2 lbs of shrimp at first because only half of us was there… half of us meaning my husband and I, ready to eat because my kids won’t eat the shrimp. Just one look, and we KNEW! That can’t be 2lbs!!! We just went to Michael’s a couple of months before and ordered 2lbs of shrimp… ordered another lb just to finish us off… so how can that bag be 2lbs!!! 2lbs of air? 2 lbs of liquid??? I don’t know. OK…here was the bag I was waiting for…1lb of King Crab legs…1lb??? Goodness… I don’t think it was 1 leg. Seriously. Ordered a 1lb of King Crab legs at Michael’s and we all got some. My girls love crab legs, so I only had a piece and left the rest for them and my neice. $ 4 for garlic bread!!! HALF A LOAF!!! Whatever!!! Ordered deepfried oysters… They served it with cocktail sauce and tartar sauce and fries!!! So there wasn’t many oysters in that basket lets just say! Flavor was ok. Boiling Crab and Michael’s still better. My bro in law didn’t like the Garlic Butter, he did’nt think it had any flavor. I took his word for it and dipped it in the House Special sauce. We all liked the Lemon Pepper, but still not worth it. I’m never coming back… sorry. Never chince out on people who like to eat.
