Horrible service. I went there this morning. Because of a recent motorcycle crash, I had a cast on my right arm. When I ask for one of the waiters to pack my food in a to go container, he just left the containers there and expected me to pack the food myself, pretending that he did not see my injured arm when it was on the fucking table! I am reserving my rights to file a lawsuit. I left maybe a few pennies for the tip. Maybe I should not have paid at all. Because I couldn’t even take my food to go.

The food in here is so amazing and tasty!!! I from Hong Kong and the taste in here just exactly like my hometown. The price is reasonable and the size is big too. I just so happy I found this place in my neighborhood :) love it!!!

Everything we ordered was delicious and the service size is generous. The japanese tofu with pork is a must.

Slow service, takes four people to get a refilll on a drink. All workers are blind af you raise your hand or cup to ask for something they pass by and not respond.

I don’t get it??? They have a special for their steak and eggs that they advertised for $ 8.99. But when I ask it to go, they charge me $ 12.99 and give me BS reason(Newyork steak is more expensive now, do we don’t have special for to go!) I mean, I really don’t get it man??? What’s the difference between to go and inside, I think it’s cost them more inside actually to pay their workers and washing dishes. I mean owner is definitely has low IQ Anyway! They lost my business for sure!

If you can tolerate terrible service(typical Asian restaurant lol) but still want great food, this place is definitely a go! I’ve been here several times, food is great! They have a very wide variety menu choice, just like most Hong Kong Style cafes. The service here is really bad tho, it’s not slow but workers aren’t very friendly.

The food deserves 4 stars, but the service … One tip, check your bill before paying… We ordered a main course and an appetiser… Typical HK style cafes serve a free coffee or tea with a main course, so I got an iced tea for myself, my wife got a honey lemonade, and we ordered a cup of water to my daughter… After taking the order the waitress asked us to get a drink to my daughter… So we were thinking the appetiser also comes with a free tea or coffee, so we got her another iced tea… You know what, it is not free, the waitress simply tricked us to order an extra drink we don’t need !!! We talked to the waitress and she was still trying to but the blame on us!!!

It was my first visit to HG café, and food and atmosphere was a lot better than I expected. They give you complimentary soup your choice of tomato or cream. I got the cream soup, and it reminded me of soup I used to eat in elementary school in Korea. They had new york steak and eggs special for only 8.99, and quality of meat and sides were pretty decent for the price. Bamboo rice was very interesting too! However, their servers barely speak English, so you cant expect excellent service.

Eh… +1 Star for Local restaurant and cleanliness. Food wise, A-OK. Been here 4 – 5 times now. We got the discounts in the beginning and their special deals if ur order over $ 35. Their steak and egg special for $ 8.99 is decent. I ordered the chicken steak and it felt abit dry… just didnt delicious. Prefer Garden’s abit more. The last visit, the steak is good. Just a good piece of meat and with sauce and veggies. We also tried their fried rice and other dishes. They were pretty good. I wouldnt go with the hainan chicken… doesnt taste good. I would come here over Garden b/c its cleaner.

Bad service. They suppose to open at 8am on Sat, but didn’t open until 8:10am. The cashier lady is, sort of, rude. We were waiting outside. She came to unlock the front door at 8:10am. She don’t even bother to say anything, no greeting or nothing, not even ask how many people. She just walked inside to the table, assuming you will follow her. Then she throw you the menu on the table. I have a citi prestige card which the mag strip is in the front of the card. She doesn’t seems to know so she couldn’t get the transaction thru. She then throw the card back to me and said card not working. I know this card is a bit different and I have experienced many times already that I have to point out where the strip is for people to swipe the card. I told her the same but she refused to take the card. She said my card is not working. I call citi card right away to confirm my card is activate. She just refused it and insisted me to provide other card or cash. I was in a rush so I didn’t argue. Having this kind of employee kills the company. I pity her. She might had a rough night. Already having a long face in the early morning. Today will be a long day for her… Take it easy, lady.

This place is great… big portion food and reasonable price! The menu mentioned one can refill drink once but they kept coming up… It’s not as crowded at Boston so no wait! Its pretty clean inside compared to Garden Café and Boston Café.

Decent Hong Kong style café. Nothing impressive. Let’s start with the positive– the Hong Kong milk tea was authentic, but only one refill allowed. The fried rice portion was huge and delicious. The service was attentive. Free cream soup or veggi soup with entrée. The negative– sizzling pot with beef udon has undercook udon and little beef. We ordered over $ 35 so we got a free order of beef and turnip, but the free dish never showed up. We reminded the server twice, still no sight of the dish. Good thing we were already full and so we took that to go. There were so many dining options at diamond bar. But if you don’t want to wait during meal time, this can be your option.

Sad… This is the second time that I order from this place. The first time I had the pork cutlet. It was ok. This time I had the curry ox tongue… disaster… The tongue had favor, but no curry taste at all. The curry is watery with some vegetable fiber in the sauce. There was no coconut milk in the curry, and it is not the yellow Cantonese curry. I have curry all my life, and all different variety. This is not curry. I wonder what kind of cook can make this curry. Most likely not a professional trained cook. Stay away from this place. You are wasting your money here, I did – eleven dollars. Their portion was small. This restaurant fails across the board in every ways.

The beef stew noodle(#207) was disgusting: the stew beef was all fat, covered in gristle and slimy, and we couldn’t really eat it. The hot pot was pretty good but way more food than 2 people could eat in one sitting(and too much rice). It was actually a tough thing for me to walk away from all that(bland, tasteless, disappointing) food because, to quote all our mothers from when we were growing up, Children Are Starving In Africa. I guess it «hit the spot» since I was in the neighborhood at 10 pm and many other food spots were closed, but I definitely won’t be back.

Here are the positives about this place. The service was pretty friendly. There was one lady there at the time I was there with an earpiece who really makes sure you are taken care of. Plus, she was really nice. Also, they give you complimentary soup with your entrees — choice of a cream soup or a tomato-based minestrone type soup. I had the cream soup and it was pretty good, although I think it was chicken and corn soup and it was very short on chicken and corn. But, it’s complimentary so what can you expect. Other positives: the chicken wings are not bad. I’d definitely order these over the popcorn chicken because I thought they were more flavorful — unless you’re not a fan of bone-in chicken. The popcorn chicken bites were too bland inside. Also, the chicken and mushroom bamboo dish is not bad. They were quite generous on the chicken and mushrooms. The seafood rice stone pot was not bad either. I will also say that the menu is super huge. This really overwhelmed me because I didn’t know what to get. After scouring the Unilocal reviews for like twenty minutes, I learned that people tend to really like the steak dishes. However, I’m not a huge fan of red meat so I opted not to try that. Now to what I didn’t like about the place. In general, the quality of food at this place wasn’t particularly high to me. I actually just didn’t really enjoy most of the items we got. Aside from what I listed above, we ordered the following: (1) Milk tea: the tea was really watery. This was after they just brought it, so the ice didn’t have a chance to melt and dilute it yet. I was kind of disappointed by this. (2) The fruit salad with ham and mayonnaise: To be fair, I’m not a huge fan of fruit salad with ham and mayonnaise. The combination of ingredients just doesn’t really appeal to me. So this wasn’t really their fault, I just didn’t like this dish because I don’t like what’s in it. (4) Unagi rice stone pot: This dish was ok, but they kind of skimped on the unagi. If they put in more unagi in, this might have been better. (5) Pork cutlet with rice and curry: The pork cutlet was not bad either, however, it wasn’t particularly good either. I think in general, my issue with this place is that the food was just not that great. Also, I really think they could cut down the menu because it was really overwhelming.

4.5 stars. Being a modern contemporary fusion café, I didn’t know what to expect the moment I walked in. Yet despite the overwhelming menu, the server was very friendly and recommended us a few of their most popular dishes. We ordered a curry noodle dish(whose name seems to have slipped my mind. Nonetheless it was very good, or at least I was hungry enough to down a helping or two.) and a veggie dish. But the stars of the meal were by far the filet mignon cheese puff pastry bonanza and German style pork knuckle. Both plates literally melted in my mouth. It was heaven and I may or may not have had an urge to tear up a little when I tasted the crispy skin of the pork knuckle. The prices were definitely reasonable and I was happy to pay around $ 50 for the four dishes.(Technically five dishes since we got an extra dish to go since our check exceeded the $ 35 threshold). Awesome experience and I’m glad I definitely gave this place a shot.

Drove all the way from Santa Clarita, just to try this restaurant. Service was friendly and prompt. Good food selections. Dining area and restrooms are clean to naked eyes. Plates are big so the table fills up quickly when you have more than three plates. One little thing that I was surprised to see was a dead insect which appears to be a silverfish(see my pic). It must have hitch hiked from the kitchen under one of the dishes we ordered. When we were seated, the table was clean. I found the dead insect after all our orders were on the table.

HG Café is another Asian eatery here in the ever so popular Diamond Plaza. We called a head for a reservation for a table of 9 people. Arrived at the restauarant at the table was ready for us. They had set a long table for us. The food here is mediocre at best. Some entrees and dishes are better than others. Being a big group, we ordered a vast amount of dishes. Beef Stew Noodle Soup Baked Lamb Chop House Special Eel with Rice Curry Chicken Pork Chop with Ramen Baked Seafood and Rice Spanish Style Baked Spaghetti and Sausage The place isn’t necessarily cheap and for the price you could possibly pass and head to a different restaurant. The entrees come with soup too, and you get a choice of creamy type soup or tomato soup. The customer service was okay, the waiters and waitress for the most part were friendly. They didn’t really check up on us much, we had to ask them for tea refills and water refills. It’s interesting that they gave everyone little tea type holders and you pour the tea indivually, compared to them pouring for you and what not. Parking is hectitc as being in Diamond Plaza but there’s underground parking. Plenty of parking underground, but this place does get busy so be prepared if you don’t get one right away. Overall, this place is a meh, it’s nothing special.

HG Café is located in the Diamond Plaza(that include other businesses and eateries such as Tokyo Shabu Shabu, Ten Ren’s Tea Time, New Capital Seafood and President Thai) and just opened this past Friday. My mother, husband and I came by here on Saturday for dinner since the wait at Tokyo Shabu Shabu was pretty long(I know we were not the only ones who wanted hot soup on a cold night). When I walked into this restaurant, I found a server who just walked passed me and asked for a table for 3. He asked if I wanted to sit at a table or booth. I opted for the booth. After browsing the menu, this is what we ordered: Grilled Pork Chop, $ 10.99 prior to tax– This pork chop entrée comes with your choice of sauce(mushroom, black pepper, garlic or red wine) and a choice of rice or noodles. My mom picked the mushroom sauce with rice and surprisingly this came with 3 large pork chops(one for each person, how thoughtful). The pork chops tasted pretty standard to other Chinese cafes but wasn’t as oily. This entrée also came with a small portion of assorted cooked vegetables, including shaved potato pieces(which was nice). And you also have your choice or rice or noodle as your starch. House Special Hainan Chicken, $ 10.99 prior to tax– I ordered this and was sadly disappointed with the portion size and taste. When the server brought this over to our table, I had thought ‘when did we order an appetizer?’ and then realized it was my chicken. I would have to saw that I was served with ¼ of the chicken and that is pretty small for the price. Also the chicken itself just tasted like a steamed chicken. The only thing making this Hainan was the dipping sauce they served it with(ginger and chili sauce) and the rice that came with this dish. The rice had a nice light ginger flavor in the rice that I loved and ate that up. Too bad the chicken was not nearly as good. Dried Scallop and Meatball Porridge, $ 7.25 prior to tax– My husband ordered this and then shortly after our server took down this order, he came back to our table to inform us that they are out of dried scallop and asked if we would like to order another porridge. My husband said to just add more meatballs to the porridge and so the server said that could be done. Anyways, I liked the porridge, as it was perfectly lightly salted. I am not a fan of heavily added salt to my foods so I ate it as is but my husband added salt to his, saying it wasn’t enough. The meatballs were bland for the most part and it would have been preferred for the porridge to have some added flavor to it besides slivered ginger pieces. Red Bay Fried Rice, $ 9.25 prior to tax– This dish was probably the best of the entrees we ordered. The fried rice wasn’t too oily and had great flavor. Also there were plenty of seafood and chicken pieces in it to make it a fuller dish. — — — — — — — — — - (Total= $ 37.73 that includes 10% grand opening discount, prior to tip) As a grand opening special, the restaurant is giving 10% off your entire bill, which helps because the prices seem to be higher than other cafes in the San Gabriel Valley. I am not sure how long this will last though(and we were not informed this so it was a nice surprise to see it when our bill came). Service was just average, but could have been more attentive. I think this restaurant has potential and I would be interested in coming back here again. But will stay clear of some of the food fails/disappoints that was ordered on this visit. Just wanted to mention that there is free wifi here(found under the TWC network, not the HG Café network as that is meant for the restaurant. The first hour is free under the TWC network. Unfortunately I had some trouble getting on it so I can’t comment on the speed of it). Also if you have trouble parking in this plaza, check out the parking in the under ground parking lot.
