I used to head to this place all the time with my dad when he came over, but the last time we went, this restaurant closed and was replaced with a new Korean restaurant that specializes in a spicy pork soup type dish. Oh well, time to find a new regular place.

mmmmm, i love meat, especially korean bbq :) Came here with friends, service was good, the place was small, but the food was great :) Though I wish that the price would have been more economic. But we manage to order food below our budget, none of us was full but i would say we were about 75% full.

Review #200 should highlight a spot I really liked in my opinion. Ong Go Jib Korean Restaurant made such an impression with me. I thought the meat quality here was superb, the portions were generous, the banchan(side dishes) were varied and fresh, and the service was excellent. Three plates of BBQ meat to grill were plenty for our party of four people. Banchan this evening included baechu(Napa cabbage) kimchi, gamja sealleodeu(Korean style potato salad), odeng(fish cake), bindaetteok(mung bean cake), nokdumuk(mung bean jelly), oi(cucumber) kimchi, gat(Indian mustard leaves) kimchi, sigeumchi namul(marinated raw spinach, japchae(glass noodles) and came with gyeran jjim(seasoned steamed egg in a pot) and doenjang jjigae(fermented soybean paste stew). Two dipping sauces(sesame oil with salt and vinaigrette), chili sauce, salad and rice wrap come with any BBQ meat dish to create tapas. Galbi(beef rib), $ 24.99 — very flavorful, juicy, dense but easy to chew. The $ 25 price-tag on this dish may initially seemed a bit high but we were paying for the cost of premium meats here and I felt the quality justified its price. One of the best galbi I have ordered at a restaurant in some time and, without question, the tastiest meat dish we grilled on this evening. Bulgogi(marinated beef), $ 21.99 — also excellent meat texture, flavorful and juicy. Despite basically using the same marinate as their galbi, it just could not match the bone-in flavor of beef rib. The quantity, however, was impressive. This dish alone was enough to feed three people. Chadobegi(beef risket), $ 21.99 — well marbled, tender and juicy. The brisket cooked perfectly on the grill as did the other meat dishes. We were able to cook it a little longer whereas most of the time, thinly sliced brisket like this would have burnt to a crisp. I was impressed with its flavor and texture as well, a pretty good indicator the meat was fresh and top quality. While there has been some mixed reviews for this restaurant, much of it is attributed to its higher prices and the absence of an All-You-Can-Eat(AYCE) option, they are failing to appreciate the premium you have to pay for high quality meats. I mentioned the banchan came with a variety of choices and I thought they were all quite tasty and fresh as well. Service was also topnotch. Our server was very friendly, attentive and hospitable. She also received some help from others, who were more than willing to assist. Water, banchan and napkins were quickly replenished without having to ask and our server would check often to see if we needed anything else. The excellent service we received here this evening, along with their stellar meats, very much justified the price we paid for any dish. Moreover, I did not feel that we paid much more than we would have at any other Korean BBQ restaurant. While I cannot give this restaurant quite five stars until I try more dishes and get a better perspective, the meats and service we experienced this evening were topnotch! I will be a returning patron.

Reppin’ the 213 and 323 for 15 years+, I’ve had my fair share of korean bbq and the«real deal joints» of korean food. This place is located next to a small bakery + greenland market. It’s not too hard to find and plenty of space for parking. First off, the meat quality can be better… for the price of course. Service was mediocre at best. Other food, side dishes and all was just decent. Definitely not impressed but nothing to bag on too much about this place. BUT. I’d rather drive out to K-town than spend the $$ here.

I tend to be a little bit harsher when it comes to Korean foods, I mean after all, I’m half Korean(but have grown up in a traditional Korean household). Moms would make the best of foods and this place was okay hence why I gave it three stars. It may seem overpriced because you aren’t getting the all-you-can-eat special even though it seems like you are paying for that price, but honestly I had ordered sang gyup sal and galbi for both me and my boyfriend and we ended up taking food to-go. Yes, it’s not as enticing as stuffing your face to the point where you are going to blow up, but sometimes it’s good to refrain yourself from overfeeding your body. Guess that’s why Americans waistlines are getting bigger and bigger… Went here today for my birthday and it was pretty dead. By the time we walked in there were three other groups finishing up. We did end up going here at about 9PM(since the boyfriend couldn’t get off until then) and it was a Tuesday, so I mean I understand. The banchan(Korean side dishes), to me, wasn’t really up to par. The egg casserole was a little bland for my taste and the beef/radish soup that came with the meal was okay. My mom puts a lot of Korean restaurants to shame, hence why I think I have higher expectations for Korean restaurants. Anyways, the great thing though is that they do give you enough meat to keep you full for the evening and the galbi was pretty amazing! I have to admit, I was expecting something less after being disappointed by the banchan but the galbi was perfectly marinated to my surprise! The sang gyup sal came out a little thicker than I would have liked but it didn’t affect the taste whatsoever. Just meant that I had to cut the pieces smaller and have it cooked longer. No big deal. Overall, 3 stars. It’s not terribly bad, but it’s not the best of the best. Just a happy medium and I’m fine with that if I was ever in the neighborhood craving Korean BBQ. Lina Chen

This place ain’t no AYCE, so it’s on the pricy side, but the quality and service, and the environment is unbeatable. Also, this place has INCREDIBLE ventilation so you don’t go home smelling like a huge pile of burnt meat. Of course, this is a questionable advantage, but as the waitress so accurately explained, this place is geared to older people that aren’t so focused on getting the most bang for the buck, but aim to give quality over quantity and incredibly so. I absolutely cannot remember when I actually liked truly the service at a KBBQ place after only eating AYCE for the past few years. It’s definitely best to come as a family and get a big combination meal, as ordering individually is especially expensive, I believe, but if you’re going dutch, you’re much better off going AYCE anyway and taking a burnt meat smoke bath. And that’s cool. Hey, even I like sniffing my smoke-infused sweater sometimes.

I love this restaurant! This is my go-to korean bbq place in the area. My family and I come here probably once a week or every 2 weeks, and we definitely have no complaints. The owners of this restaurant are the sweetest people, and the waitresses are awesome: D They’re always kind and patient, and always checking up on us to see if we need anything else, even when they’re on their own lunch break! Their menu consists of individual orders of meats, and also combination orders. We usually get the combination orders because we want variety. They usually start us off with pumpkin porridge, which is very yummy. I love it! They also have lots of banchan(traditional korean appetizer dishes). I think for the combinations, they come with thinly sliced rice cake and radish to wrap the meat in too: D They also have other korean food available for those of you who don’t want bbq! For 5 people, including soju, we end up paying $ 100, including a good tip!(Keep in mind, we go on Sundays, so prices are dinner prices) We always leave very very full, and very pleased :] The location is off to the side, so unless you know that the restaurant is there, you would never pass by it, but it’s definitely worth a try! When you enter the Greenland Market plaza, its off to the left by the bakery. Make sure to give this place a chance!

First of all, I’m a rookie as far as Korean Restaurants, I usually just order BBQ and don’t stray too far from that. But the overall experience and food was good. The waitresses were friendly and we got our food quickly and + and I started our meal. I ordered the bulgogi and galbi and they were well marinated and flavored. Just the 2 of us and we couldn’t finish all the food. They give you the myriad of side dishes, various veggies and condiments, well, just those side dishes alone are interesting and tasty. It is a cook your own, but the waitresses would come by and add meat to the BBQ and kept our food cooking and going. The BBQ’d meat along with the condiments were tasty and both + and I enjoyed the food. Some of the other«regulars» there were ordering different food, not BBQ, and I’d be willing to try those here. All the food overall seemed to have a nice quality and freshness to it that makes trying new foods more enticing. I’m sure we’ll be back here, and hopefully, I can try one of those new dishes then.

Food was a lot better before when I came here 5 years ago. I got the combo meal A with my bf for $ 40, you have a good amount of beef brisket, pork, chicken, mushroom, steamed eggs, soup, and banchans. We arrived around 6:30pm, and the place was pretty empty with no wait. I had high expectations of the banchans but it was disappointing. I’ve definitely had better, but they did supply me with 10 banchans, which is much than other places in general. I think the beef was OK, the chicken was tasty and the pork is very average. I can’t say that it blew me away, but it wasn’t horrible. I thought the service was lacking for our table. I had to constantly ask for our waters to get filled, extra rice paper wraps, my banchan never got refilled until I used 2 ladies. I kind of wish they didn’t cook for me on the initial grill and set the fire really high because I definitely don’t like my meat overcooked. You get a feeling they just want to cook your food quickly and get you out of there. You also need to ask for rice, although I think it should have been supplied for in the first place. I think I rather eat Japanese BBQ although I know it is a completely different cuisine. For $ 40 we didn’t get that much beef, and the pork I didn’t care for. Next time I might be better of ordering bowl of noodles or just beef. I saw a lot of people eating nengmyun over there.

Food is usally good here and they have great banchans but my last experience here was not so great. I came near closing time(nearing 9pm I think) and before sitting, I asked them how late we can stay, and they assured me it’s okay until 9:30. But once my friend and I sat and ordered, it was obvious they were in a rush to get us out by 9. They set the fire on the grill really high to cook the meat faster without informing us, which burnt some of it. The nengmyun that I ordered for the end was given to us early with the meat because they were in such a rush. Kinda killed the experience. I felt like they lured us in and got us to order saying we had plenty of time but that wasn’t the case. We were done shortly after 9pm and I probably won’t be coming back for a while.

Tasty Bulgogi but the Pork Bulgogi was ok. I’m such a Banchan junkie… the more the merrier! This place gives you like literally 15 banchan dishes and all so tasty… yummmm

If you are in the Rowland Heights area and felt like getting some Korean BBQ, this is probably the spot to go to. The only difference between ONGGOJIB and most KBBQ spots I go to is: This is NOT All-You-Can-Eat. True, I might be paying a little more when I come here, but the quality, service and its banchan surely makes up for the price difference. Most of their KBBQ meat dishes runs from $ 18.99+, I personally like that Hyumit Gui(Beef Tongue) most. They also have soups & noodles available for those of you that don’t want to do KBBQ.(NOTE: You are still gonna come out smelling like meat because everyone else is grilling there).

Pretty much empty when we went, we got the whole room to ourselves! If you’re here you’ve probably had krn bbq before, so the thing that stands out the most is the selection and you get steamed egg with your combo meal. Wasn’t too much a fan of the bacon-like meat though. Service was really nice. This is not a cheap place though, so be weary if you don’t want to spend $ 20 for limited food!

One of my fave korean bbq spots in the Rowland area. I’m all about the side dishes at these places, I think they are what accents the entire meal. With that said, the side dishes are great, especially love the Korean pancakes. The kimchi was really dry… that was one complaint. We chose the $ 69 dinner combo which consists of 2 kinds of meat(Bulgogi and pork belly) and octopus. The meat here is consistently good… however this time I felt like it was less. This combo also comes with beer or soju… which is nice ;) The service is great, the waitresses have no attitude, and I must say our last waitress was a sweetheart. Like a previous poster wrote, prefer this over AYCE anyyyyday. Beware… really stuffy in here… but can’t help it, meat’s-a-cookin’

Sad that my first Unilocal review has to be a negative one but must make it known not to go to this restaurant… TOOEXPENSIVE&TERRIBLESERVICE! My 2 yr old nephew said«hi» to the waitress all 3 times she came to our table(first to seat us, second to bring the ban-chan & last to bring our order) and she asked my 2 yr old nephew to «stop saying ‘hi’ to her because it’s bothering her!!!» Unbelievable!!! And for the food, the portion for the price is definitely not worth it! Will never go back!

This place is ok. Not my usual go to place for korean bbq but it gets the job done. I can say that this place is a little pricier than most. You know you can get AYCE for like half the price right? And the quality of meat is just as good or even better. I ordered I think the combo A? and it’s a good amount of meat but for more than $ 40 I think it’s pricey! It only comes with steamed egg and it doesn’t even come with any kind of jjigae!(stew) I do have to admit though their side dishes are pretty good! This place was one of the few korean restaurants that served spicy raw crab as one of their banchan. Only bad thing is is that you constantly have to bug the korean ladies to refill anything. Also, if you want any rice paper or radish, you’re gonna have to ask the ladies. Or any kind of condiments to go with your bbq.

Great service here!!! The food is good, a tad expensive in my opinion but I’m not a K-BBQ regular so I’m not sure. The side dishes are great and they give you lots of extras like rice paper, and salad and rice and soup and dessert tea. I usually come here with my family and leave smelling like Korean BBQ(the main reason why I don’t come mroe often). The most memorable thing about this place was the great service we got and the end ribs I took home to my dog!

Out of all the korean barbeque places in rowland heights, I like this place the best. The prices are fair. maybe a little pricier than others near the same vicinity, but not too bad. I go here basically every week with my family because they have really good service. They always treat us really well and are really friendly :) Plus they give you shikhae(sp?) for dessert, yummm.

Ooh this place satisfies me when I want bbq! Not to mention all the loads and loads of panchan. Great lunch prices, but the bbq menu is rather pricey. We ordered(4 girls) 1 chicken bulgogi lunch special(about $ 10) and 2 orders of the calbi(26.99) and we were beyond stuffed. The tempura items in the lunch special were a bit too oily where it dampens the flavor. But the chicken bulgogi tasted fine. They also gave soup and salad. I think I ate the salad wrong because my friends were using it alongside the rice paper wrapper to eat the meat. Oh well, tasted like a fine salad to me. The calbi was soft and very well flavored. Only downer is the service. My friend had to holler at her a few times speaking in Korean in order for her to pay us any attention…
