I frequent Dos Charros a couple of times every month. Great buffet and entrees, friendly staff. My favorite event at Dos Charros is the karaōke on Saturday nights. Ronnie Ray is the KJ and is the best in Dallas!!! They start the fun at 6pm!

This restaurant is hidden in a shopping center behind Popeye’s but I’m glad I found it. The Manager is awesome and so very friendly and accommodating. The weekend buffet is awesome. It includes all the traditional mexican foods plus fried shrimp, guacamole, queso, and home guacamole. And for dessert they have a really good chocolate mousse or sopapillas. They are both complimentary with the buffet. On Sat, night they have Karaōke featuring Ronnie Ray. It’s a lot of fun and some very talented singers there. Highly recommended!

This is our favorite local Mexican restaurant in Rowlett. The owner is as nice as they come. The food is fantastic, and the service is prompt and thorough. Very nice people with great food, can’t beat it!

It seems to get better every time I come here. The owner is never as nice to me as he is some of the other customers. He acts like I am irritating or something, even though I usually don’t say much. He smiles at the other customers. Sometimes it is hard to get a refill, but I’m here for the food.

Honestly… completely disappointed. If i could give them a half a star i would. In regards to there portions, very poor, how does such a highly rated restaurant manage to stay open when they give you ¼ of a 16oz hot sauce no guacamole and then have the galls to tell you that the wont refund those simple items. Further more when i went up there the manager threatened to call the authorities on me if i didnt leave. Needles to say this restaurant is going to rip you off. DONOTDINEHERE!!!

Our hole in the wall fav. I can only vouch for one dish — sour cream chicken enchiladas. Best Ive had. Rice and beans, and chips and salsa are great too. I love their ritas as well. The place is truly a dump inside, but sometimes I like that because I can go dressed in my yoga pants and flip flops. Prices have gone up though, but I still go to get my fix.

This is my very favorite place to eat and I live dangerously close so I end up visiting frequently. I haven’t had a single thing on the menu that was bad. The food always comes out extremely quick, hot, and fresh. I’ve never had bad service here and the sweet tea is always perfectly sweetened. I completely love this restaurant to the point that family and friends don’t even have to ask where I would like to eat while we are all deciding.

I admit it, I only come here when Fritzl’s is closed and I’m so despondent I need a drink NOW. i’ve had a few of the appetizers, and even those are so hit and miss that I’ve yet to venture the food. For instance: the free chips and salsa are stellar. The seafood nachos on the other hand I wasn’t thrilled with(at that price point the seafood components weren’t terribly fresh and the cheese seemed cheap). Service is mostly prompt and pretty friendly, especially at the bar. The interior isn’t as inviting as some competing places nearby but they’ve been working on it and it is improving. All in all it’s a solid place, and if I try the entrees some day I’ll revise my review.

$ 9 chicken nachos suck! You seriously get 8 chips with beans, cheese and small itty bitty chunks of chicken. The waitress Deanna was rude as hell. Fire her and make better nachos and I might go back. The margaritas are $ 3 frozen are amazing.

This place is in a great location and a favorite with the locals. However, I am underwhelmed. The food and service are just average.

This place has a great buffet on the wkends and thur evening. My wife finally tried it and she said it was great as well. You have so many different things to choose from plus as much guacamole as you want, and the salsa is very good. The margaritas are not that great but I can look past that since the buffet is so good

This used to be our go to/quick local dinner place but not anymore. The prices are high for the quality we received this evening. The taco meat tasted«burned» my son said. It tasted to me like it had been in the pot since lunch time. The chicken fajita meat in my tacos al cabon was dry dry. Over the years, it’s just become a little worse. I promised my son our new«go to» place will at least be Christina’s at Firewheel.

No, no, no. I can’t remember liking anything about this place. I wish I would have had a margarita… maybe then I would have something nice to say. The attmosphere felt dirty and the food was goopy. Probably not going to get a second chance from me.

This restaurant may be hidden in a shopping center behind Popeye’s but I’m glad I found it. The weekend lunch buffet is awesome. It includes all the traditional mexican foods plus fried shrimp, guacamole, queso, and homemade tortillas. I absolutely love one of their salsas. It has fresh avacado pieces in it. And for dessert they have a really good chocolate mousse or sopapillas. They are both complimentary with the buffet. Highly recommended!

Let me start by saying this review is completely bogus. The fact that I give this place the same number of stars as Cosa Nostra, Valentino’s and others is a disservice to others. Having said that, I have to say I’m a fan because this is one of the few places I go to regularly(hence, the 4 star«yay, I’m a fan»). 15 yrs ago when there was this place(formerly Puerto Escondido) and the now defunct J. Miguels and that’s it for Tex-Mex in Rowlett, we came here because the chips and salsa were consistently good and there were rarely any surprises in the standard fare of enchiladas, burritos, tacos, etc… Since that time they have added the buffet on weekends, which my family frequents. They also do a decent business with the defensive driving class. They are also family owned and don’t have a lot of turnover. Mostly you see the same crew here every time. Service is not always spectacular, but is rarely poor on consecutive visits. More importantly for my rating, I suppose that when any new Tex-Mex comes to town, DC is usually my bellweather. In other words, does Amelias, Alejandros, Fuzzy’s, Sizzling Fajitas or Pancho and Lefty’s do better at everything that would cause me to stop going to DC. The answer always comes up no. Yes, they do some(or even many) things better. But there is something to be said for staying power and consistency. In a small community like Rowlett, it’s difficult because non-chain(and some chain) restaurants tend to come and go. At the end of the day, after trying the live band/karaōke night/cool bar/neat gimmick scene of other places and even enjoying it… sometimes your stomach/heart/head just pull you back home. That’s Dos Charros for me.

Dos Charros(formerly Puerto Escondido) has been in Rowlett for a long time. It is your average TexMex restaurant. The food quality is not bad but not memorable either. However, they do a great job of getting the food out quickly and the service is great. Their frozen margaritas are machine-made and taste as such, but they are VERY cold and refreshing. Overall, if you are craving Mexican food, this is the place.
