This place ain’t too bad, But it is too crowded. No rocks to be found, But there is a mean waitress. No shoes, no shirt, no service.

Well visited and was hoping to update after not visiting for sometime, bad idea for them. They are not doing the nightly specials since apparently it is not what they are doing cause of the holiday season when though they advertise them(do you know this is false advertising???). Really??? Two days before Christmas. It is not Christmas Eve or a holiday… The owner is still a cheap ass and hasn’t learned. Please learn. Listen to the younger generation. Listen to people who know things. Stop being cheap all around your establishment. It shows. In addition, fix the kitchen staff and their attitude too. We can hear them in the dining area(prior visit) not tonight by the way. Great newer bartenders though. Maybe another time, maybe.

Trying this place again and all the workers are so nice. However, they get 1 star again because they didn’t honor their specials. For some reason this place thinks they can decide when they honor their spcials. I was told since its the day before Christmas eve(this is not a holiday) they have no specials. However, they should have because it’s wednesday and there specials are published. The owner or manager doesn’t care about there customers. The owner or manger need to think why anyone would want to come here and give this business any additional business.

Not gunna lie the drinks were ridiculously strong(not my preference but I know most people like everything that way) The food was disgusting, but the main reason it gets 2 stars is the service, I normally tip 30% –50% but this girl literally came around once an hour and got mad at us for cashing out at the bar(I’m sorry but I didn’t want to wait another hour just to pay my bill) and as much as it pained me to give such a bad tip I simply had too, I’ve never had a server give me an attitude. EVER They get that extra star for the bartender having a heavy hand, but as far as royal oak goes… I’ll be at Diablos

This is a bar for college-aged kids. Lots of bar area, lots of TVs. Bartenders are not incredibly accurate. Bathrooms are littered with discarded drinks. But it was the only bar of four that was packed on a Saturday night, so they’re doing something right.

Very bad service. The waitresses were nice enough, but it took forever. They were apparently understaffed, but the bar was less than half full. Also, $ 10 for a bottle of jolly pumpkin is too much.

There are better bars in Royal Oak Been here a couple of times, the first was with a date and she suggested the place, the second was with a friend during Arts Beats and Eats. First time was years ago and I didn’t explore it as much as most recently. I have to admit the server did a good job taking care of us, but the bar didn’t seem that busy anyways. My most recent visit is what immediately turned me off from ever coming back. That’s right, all it takes is one bad experience! Because I wanted to try the place again, my buddy and I walked blocks away from all of the events going on from the Arts, Beats, and Eats. When we got to the bar we waited for a while for service. We noticed what looked like a server at the end of the bar talking to what we thought at the time was just a regular. After a while she finally made it down to us and took our drink order. I order a double Absolute w/sugar free redbull everywhere I go. Once I ordered my drink she told me they couldn’t pour a double which just baffles me as I’m a paying customer, that’s what I want, and it’s not against any law to serve a double… The only reason I can think a bar would have that policy in place is due to internal issues with staff and a lousy attempt to work on their liquor cost. After we got our drinks, the serve went over to the lady at the end of the bar again and discussed my attempt to order a double(as if I was a martian from another planet). Once we saw them laughing and just staring at us we decided to drink outside on their patio set up which is very nice. The lady that was at the end of the bar, turns out to be a manager and she constantly walked by us checking on us, again as if we are martians from another planet. So once we finished our drinks we quickly left. I do not see myself returning to this place again.

I am highly disappointed in the customer service that I received at The Rock on Third. I will never visit this establishment again. I had a gift certificate for $ 20 from an AIDS benefit that expired on September 1 and when I presented it on September 2, I was told that it would not be accepted. I explained that I would most likely be spending more than the $ 20, but to no avail. We left, dissatisfied, annoyed, disheartened and hungry. The owner/manager said if he accepted it for me, he would have to do it for ‘everyone’ and that his girlfriend writes many certificates that he just ‘gives’ away. Wah, wah, wah… come on, this was for AIDS Support. We ended up going somewhere else, and spent close to $ 60.00 for a delightful dinner/drinks, and pleasant service. A glowing review for THAT restaurant is on its way!

Let me start off with its kinda dirty for royal oak. And run down. The outside looks nice with the flowers on the patio and the neon light but then you walk in to a dated bar that hasn’t had a deep clean for years! I never mind a dive bar but clean is important. Now the food. I ordered the ribs and they were fall off the bone just as stated but holy moly the sauce was spicy! At least to me. Waitress was nice and split our check no problem. Beers were priced decent for the area and I saw they had specials and happy hour.

This one is going to be nice and quick because this is an insanely basic place. Cons: –They do not split tabs here, that is your job to do. This infuriated several people we were with and being myself, we took the helm and figured this out, while everyone else got pissed. That is absolutely absurd. I’m not sure why they just couldn’t have had 4 different tabs going as it was an empty Sunday. Make sure you know that going in. –Food this is bar food at best and not even that great of bar food. — Not the most knowledgeable of waitstaff Pros: The sunday special running was dollar off craft beers. This was an excellent deal and really excellent for day drinking on a sunday! In closing, I would only go to this place if I wanted to have a few drinks in Royal Oak and preferably during happy hour. I would never eat here and now I am prepared for the headache that is splitting checks here.

My friends and I used to go here every Sunday for years. Now they don’t even do separate checks. Wtf! They have a rotating door for servers, which are all horrible. What happened the rock? We used to love going here.

Worst bar experience ever… Who can say that about a bar? A bar!!! My colleagues and I decided to start our celebration of the last day of school at this establishment. There were about 20 – 22 of us. We were ready to make it rain $$$$ as this was last day of school and we were in a happy, celebratory mood. There were about 20 other patrons in the establishment. They seemed to be quite alright with our celebratory mood– even joining us for a few whoooooot whooots, yaaaaaays… Were we quiet, no!!! By 7:30 we had probably spent about $ 600-$ 800 between food, drinks and shots for 20 – 22 people and were were generously tipping. As tradition, one of us gets a lap dance by some stranger that we recruit– it’s all done n fun– no one has ever complained. We had one innocent teacher and one recruited dancer all of us laughing, whooting and enjoying the moment– next thing we know we are being asked to leave. We were too loud and we didn’t ask for permission to do a lap dance. We were dumbfounded! All but 1 patron found us to be enjoyable. We were told that our actions weren’t appropriate for 7:30 but we could be loud at 12 am… WTH??? Never ever ever ever have I ever experienced this. We chose a bar and not a freaking high end posh bar. Whatever! we took our fun and $$$ elsewhere . Other issues– waitress had difficulty making change as she had difficulty subtracting– you had to pay as you drank(cash not credit or debit) — no tabs and pay at end. Food could be on tab but not split amongst patron. It was confusing.

This is one of my favorite places in Royal Oak. Great beer list, good wings, outdoor searing, and a great mix of relaxed but fun atmosphere.

The Rock on 3rd is my go-to meetup place for moderate sized groups of people. The bar side has quite a few tables that can be pushed together for as many people as you need, and they don’t tend to be all taken unless it’s late. My food review is exactly the same as Liz P.‘s. I also came to Restaurant Week and ordered the same stuff she did, and agree that wow, they actually make awesome ribs.

The rock is amazing for grabbing a drink. The food, however, not the greatest. Highly reccommend for getting together with friends for brewskis. Highly discourage for eating any food

not a bad place. i went on a Saturday night and of course it was packed. they had some okay beer specials going, and $ 3 mystery shots as well. i did not stay very long, but from what i could see it was a pretty cool place to have a drink and food. i opted for one of the mystery shots, my boyfriend ended up with tequila and i am honestly not sure what mine was! all of the workers looked super busy, which is always good. i will have to go back to see what the food is like here!

The Rock on Third holds a special place near and dear to my heart. Why? Well, it was the first bar I ever actually walked into as a 21-year-old. Yep, that was an interesting day met with shots of Prairie Fire(tequila and tobasco), three wise men, Jäger bombs and straight vodka. The way the night ended was a hot mess, minus the ‘hot’ part. I’ve been coming ever since. It has a nice feel to it, right off Main Street and is more of a relaxing, «chill» bar as the kids would say. They have a jukebox that it is actually used, which is convenient on the slower nights — the nights that can be kind of dead. They have TV’s strung out, which is good for sports viewing. The beer selection is a lot better than your average, bland, crappy«Bud, Bud Light, Miller Lite,» etc. The bartenders are usually pretty on the ball and kind, and so is the bouncer. Nobody will hassle you here unless you are being a real D-bag. Those who drink here are also pretty cordial, even when people are trying to slip through one another — especially by the bar. There isn’t much wiggle room in this place, so you better be good at maneuvering and slip-sliding your way through throngs of people on a Friday or Saturday night. The place gets even better in the summertime(don’t all places?) when you can sit on the patio, if you’re lucky enough to get a table that is. They also have $ 1 Labatt bottles on Thursdays I believe, or they used to. The Rock on Third should be a place everyone tries once.

First time here, decided to try it out for Royal Oak Restaurant Week. Service was decent for the most part. It’s a bit of a dive bar but the food was fantastic. I did the dinner menu which was a salad, ribs, and a piece of huge chocolate cake for dessert. $ 15 for the three courses which was a pretty good deal. The ribs were my favorite part, falling off the bone and already encased in BBQ sauce when we received them. The sauce was a sweet and spicy mix and delicious. The salad was also very good, and also the cake. We went during the Michigan and Kentucky game so I thought it would be crazy crowded, it wasn’t super crowded until the end of the game but the noise level is pretty loud in general, so don’t go here if you’re expecting a quiet meal. Pretty self-explanatory since it’s a sports bar, but you never know. I give the restaurant 3 ½ out of five stars overall, the bathroom was a little dingy but it’s kind of a hole in the wall anyway. Their beer list also looked very extensive although I didn’t order one. I would come back if only for the ribs, they were awesome.

Came here for an after dinner ‘don’t want to go home yet’ drink and I have to say the specials were on point for a Thursday night. The place wasn’t too packed and the service was great. Our waitress didn’t hesitate to tell us the specials and suggested Short’s Brewing Co. Soft Parade when my friend wanted a fruity beer. I, on the other hand went with a Labatt Blue Light. I’m a fan of LBL and it was also on special for $ 1! Bottled beer for a dollar is hard to come by now a days and I wish I didn’t have to go to work the next day because I would’ve stayed there all night. Icing on the cake: our waitress then comes over and tells us that Jameson is also on special and shots are FREE. I think my facial expression said it all because she took that as a yes. Jameson for free? It’s not St. Patricks Day! It’s a Thursday night where I just wanted one more beer before heading home. $ 1 bottles and free Jameson is asking for trouble. Of course I asked for pickle backs which my friend never had and now is in love. If you don’t know. take a shot of pickle juice after a shot of whiskey or tequila and it’s a party in your mouth. Don’t trust me? Try it and then let me know how you like it. I like this bar a lot. and if they have specials like this all the time. good marketing tool because I will be back to find out.
