Sat at bar for dinner on Friday night. Service was awful. Female bartender completely ignored me and my dining companion. Had never experienced such unprofessional service. Also when we asked for bread, we were given two tiny rolls. Management: Wake up!

went to the Fromagerie for the first time last month. I have known of this place for 20+ years but never even drove by it or knew where it was. For the apps, me and my friend split the East Coast oysters and the burrata salad. The oysters were ok, I’ve had far better though. The burrata salad was very good, but its difficult to mess up tomatoes in Jersey during the summer and olive oil. My friend got a fish special, i believe it was monk fish with a really good broth poured over it when served. This dish was very good. I had the filet. We split the truffle fries as well which were very good. My filet was good. For dessert we got the cheesecake lollipop tower, which was very good. During dinner I have to say, I was very impressed with the wine selection. Almost all of my personal favorite wines were on their list.(Jordan, Silver Oak, Cakebread) It was a really good meal. The service was a bit clumsy on this night, as our server spilled a drink on my friend, and when pouring our wine, lost a lot of it on our tablecloth. Solid place, ill be back eventually.

I recently had my birthday party at Fromagerie and hosted 16 of my closest friends and family. The experience couldn’t have been more magical! I worked with Alex, the manager and he assisted me in creating the perfect menu for my milestone birthday. He also had his pastry chef, Charmaine create the most beautiful and delicious cake that my friends are still talking about. The food was spectacular, cooked to perfection. The Sommelier, Thomas chose the perfect wines for us to enjoy for the evening. My hat goes off to the fantastic team we had that night; Cody and Kelly were phenomenal! We didn’t want for anything that they weren’t already on top of! Bravo to Alex and his amazing team at Fromagerie! If you want a memorable dining experience, this is definitely the venue for you.

Well returned here recently with the wife spur of the moment and decided we just wanted to sit at the bar have a drink and a bite. I just love the atmosphere here period, yea you have Rumson money there but they are harmless and very approachable. Started with a cocktail as every evening should and the wifey a glass of rosé. April makes a mean drink. Went with the cheese board to start and not a complaint or a crumb left. We were at the bar so we did not want to go full bore on the entrée and the rabbit parpadella was so damn tempting but nothing like a burger when there is a bar stool under your ass. The wife went with the boratta salad, yum was an understatement. As normal course the Amuse-bouche was impeccable, gazpacho with blue crab, dlish and I don’t eat crab. Well med rare burger on an English muffin with fries deep fried in smoked beef fat what could go wrong. My compliments to the Chef and Chef David I will return. My only complaint is the Louis XIII is WAY over priced.

The only thing worthwhile about this place is their amazing staff. They are wonderful and I feel quite sorry for them as this place has taken a downhill slide! The crowd that frequents this establishment has always been problematic. Rumsonites who dress down, so down in fact that you wonder if you are at a neighborhood bar or a fine dining establishment. They are quite rude and always loud. The parking situation and valets are always a nightmare. A complete rat-fuck! There is no rhyme or reason to when you will get your car. A celebratory dinner honoring my daughter was just bad. Anything we were used to was just non existent. When we asked for the ubiquitous Popovers we were told they didn’t make those anymore and we would like their new offering better. We didn’t and we really didn’t like being told what we should enjoy by the rude bread girl! The new menu in a word, stinks! The hamachi was so coarsely cut I felt like I was eating on the back of a fishing boat and not in a good way! The salads were far too large and blah and just uninspired. The chef should not just be fired but tarred, feathered and run out of town! My rabbit pappardelle was ice cold when it got to me. The steak my husband ordered was nearly hanging off his plate. All in all dinner was without flavor, poorly prepped and badly plated. It is no wonder that David Burke has distanced himself from this establishment, he no longer owns it and it is apparent in every detail of the food. By the way, we are REAL clients, who typically spend $ 1,000 for dinner for four. We order the best wines and enjoy fine food. We shun restaurant week specials and«burger night» clientele. Save your money, don’t eat here! Oh. And an added extra — I received a call from one of their bar flies who received my private cell number from the hostess. A very nasty threatening call demanding settlement for a scratch on his bumper. He feels that one of our guests bumped his brand new pick up truck. I was not driving and find a call after our departure somewhat suspicious. Word to the wise!

Growing up, this was considered the premier, special occasion restaurant in my hometown area. So my sister and I decided to bring our mother there for her birthday. My parents eat simply but my mother always enjoys a fancy food experience. The setting for David Burke Fromagerie is a cute house environment. The service vibe is rather formal in a way that is mildly awkward(compared to the whimsical décor) but I’m fine with that because everyone was ultimately very kind to my mother and made her feel special on her birthday and I really appreciated it. Now for the food. I thought the bread basket was delicious!!! Yes, three exclamation points good. There were three types of bread: a cheese crostini and then two different rolls and they were all divine. Warm, soft, flavorful and satisfying. I actually wish we’d gotten more bread because it was probably the highlight of my meal. For an appetizer, I had the oysters which were fresh and had a nice mignonette although not particularly noteworthy in my oyster eating experience. And then I had the duck for my entrée. The duck was well-cooked and had a nice flavor although the accompanying sides were overly sweet and slightly overwhelming in its pumpkin flavor. The fill your own donuts for dessert were fun and delicious with the three different sauces. I would like to give this 3.5 stars but I’ll kick it to 4 because everyone was so nice about wishing my mother a happy birthday.

I will 100% never come back here. If you’re looking for a great place to eat near Red Bank, this is definitely not it. I made reservations online here for my anniversary. I ignored the negative reviews because I really wanted to have a good experience. When we arrived, there was only valet parking available. I wasn’t expecting to have to tip a valet, or the coat check, and had no cash with me to do so. The hostess was nice and polite, as well as the coat check and the valet. My girlfriend and I took recommendations online to dress on the dressier side of business casual but felt underdressed and uncomfortable immediately.(seriously what kind of hostess wears heels all night?) We were seated right next to the entrance to the kitchen, where a side stand and the entrance to wine cellar were also located, in the deserted restaurant. I don’t know why we were seated at such an undesirable table so early in the night(6pm). The waitress took a long time to arrive(at least five minutes) and the water also took a long time to be filled by the busser. I come from a service based background so this is especially annoying to me. The waitress also tried to rush us in ordering after we declined alcoholic beverages, even though they were empty and there was no reason to try and«flip» our table. We ordered a beet salad to share instead of an appetizer. My girlfriend ordered cauliflower risotto. I ordered diver scallops. The beet salad had no dressing on it, when a citrus vinaigrette was indicated. The presentation was nice but we were bored, and also decided not to send it back because at this point we were afraid of being rushed. My girlfriend’s risotto was undercooked and was severely under salted. The plate overall lacked any significant flavor. My scallops were perfectly cooked but so over salted that I didn’t want to eat them. The apple preparation of the dish also lacked acid and was so sweet and gooey that it was unappetizing. We declined dessert because we just wanted to leave, and it took the formerly hovering waitress 10 minutes to bring the check in the still deserted restaurant. For two entrees without sides and a salad, it cost us $ 100, which was completely ridiculous for the quality of food we were provided. An hour later we got burgers at a dive because we were hungry and dissatisfied. I heard the next day from an employee that the chef was on vacation when we visited, but that’s seriously no excuse to serve food that isn’t correctly salted, or cooked the right way.

My boyfriend took me here to celebrate a new job, and a fancy night out. I’m a foodie, he’s a picky eater. We both had a good time. To start, valet is a must. The parking situation is awful, which is generally the case around Red Bank. Walking into the restaurant we were greeted with a very sweet lavender odor, which while not entirely unpleasant, was definitely strong. The wine list is pricey but comprehensive. Not a ton of wines by the glass, which kind of stinks when only 2 are eating(and he’s not a fan of wine). To start we split the russet potato gnocchi, which was delicious and recommended by the waiter. It was topped with little fried curls of russet potatoes– a nice touch. I really wanted to try the tuna, but they had run out. For dinner I had the black sea bass, which was slightly crunchy followed by delicious melt-in-your-mouth goodness. My boyfriend had the short rib(first time trying it) and he loved it. Dessert followed and we had the chocolate mousse. It was wonderfully plated but took quite a while to come out. Overall, the food was fantastic. It’s very pricey, and was quite loud for being a fancier restaurant. I recommend trying when it’s restaurant week and more affordable. Also, they say business casual, but I wore a dress and boyfriend wore slacks and a button down. I recommend staying on the dressier side of business or you’ll feel out of place. If I do go back, I’ll be trying the steak– the table next to us split a ribeye and I was slightly kicking myself for not thinking of that too!

Amazing how this restaurant has transformed from the«old school» 80’s steakhouse with dark décor and old clientele. I know that Fromagerie was long ago, but that was my memory of this restaurant. David Burke has owned this for a bit of time now and having been a fan of his I was eager to eventually may a trip south to Rumson to give it a try. What a wonderful experience. Truly classy and contemporary in all the right ways. Yes, steak is still a staple on the menu, but I was pleased at how well rounded the options were. I had the black sea bass that was just delicious. The wine list is quite extensive(and expensive overall) so you are bound to find something interesting. A truly fine-dining experience.

I’m reviewing the formal dining room. There is another side to this restaurant which serves burgers and the like. The Good: The interior is classic in design and appears warm and cozy. Extremely nice and professional wait staff. The food is absolutely artisan and displayed appropriately. My husband and I both enjoyed our selections. The Bad: When it’s 20 degrees outside, the dining room is a bit cool. Why seat people next to the window — especially when the dining room has plenty of inside seating? Go prepared. The coat room is not heated; in there for 2 hours my coat was returned to me a giant ice pack. Consider wearing something fleece lined or bring your coat to the table. I felt the portions were a bit slight. My $ 21 gnocchi appetizer included 7 nickel sized pieces which were a bit flat in taste although the texture was perfect. The red wines sold by the glass ranged from $ 14 — $ 30+. Most of these I will not drink because they are from California — a state that I believe uses too much pesticide on the grapes. I chose an Italian wine for $ 16. It was okay.

Words can’t even describe what a terrible dinner I had here. Food had absolutely no flavor(seriously does anyone in the kitchen know what they’re doing?) The cocktail menu was boring, and the staff young and unprofessional. I’m a local and there are a ton of good restaurants in this area, so don’t waste your time eating here. I had dinner there last night and I just can’t believe this place is still in business. They are extremely overpriced for what you are actually getting. $ 20 for a cocktail… really?! $ 40 for a pasta dish… seriously?! I wish Unilocal would have allowed me to rate them 0 stars because that’s all they’d get from me. Never wasting my time or money at this place again.

I’ve been here a few times for dinner. This is a solid place, but the food seems a little lackluster to me for an upscale restaurant. It’s all cooked well, but nothing is particularly unique or flavorful. I’d like to come back and try their brunch. I’ve heard it’s very good.

Our first time visiting and it was for Thanksgiving, hands down it a perfect meal. Being food snobs we had to check it out and it was certainly worth it! For thanksgiving they had a pre-fixe menu for $ 85 a person and it felt like a steal. Our service was also excellent. We can’t wait to come back and eat off the regular dinner menu! Cotton candy when handed the bill is such a nice touch :) makes them stand apart!

Night and day from my last visit. It really matters WHERE in the restaurant you are seated. Even though I swore off this place, I couldn’t help but get excited when they participated the Jersey Shore Restaurant Week menu. And they had the short rib on the menu. Plus I had a guest in town. And it was mid-afternoon for what we fondly call«Sunday linner». So the stars aligned for this visit. Excellent service, from the word go. No valet(and no big deal), reservation was actually easy to make and(heavens) they had me on the list, unlike the last time. The manager(yes, same one who pissed me off the last time) asked if we wanted to have brunch, because they would keep the kitchen open for brunch if I wanted. Nice touch. But no, I’d prefer the $ 30.14 Jersey Shore Restaurant Week menu, thank you very much. I was still wary from the last visit, so I didn’t want to be pissed off again AND spending $ 400 for a party of 3. Seated in the dining room. Not as flooded with servers as we were the last dinner we had on this side of the restaurant(no sommelier, but we can manage) but still impeccable service. Started off with a complimentary appetizer, a croquette of some sort(sorry for the lack of detail, it went down too quickly). Between the three adults, we had the cheese board(superb selection), tuna tartare(outstanding taste and freshness), escargot(my well-traveled French cuisine-loving friend said was excellent), and pressed chicken confit(my husband didn’t even share because it was amazing) for appetizers. We were all in a short rib mode, and that was exceptional. My friend said it was even better the next day(he had leftovers, how is that possible?). We had my 5 year old with us and she loved her mac and cheese. Warning: the chocolate ice cream is a bit on the bitter side(dark chocolate) so she feasted on her shortbread cookie(and mine) and the complimentary banana flavored cotton candy. Desserts were very good, not spectacular… Let’s just say, I can get that same quality dessert elsewhere, unlike the first two courses. Glad I was open-minded enough to come here again. Still soured by my previous experience, but now I know to call for a reservation and to request the dining room.

A couple of friends and I went here to have dinner the other night. I heard a lot of hype and propaganda over this place so I would be laying if I said I did not have high expectations. I am so pleased to say this restaurant met ALL of them. From the moment you walk in the door and greeted by a beautiful hello to the moment you receive your car to leave. The experience is wonderful. I was blown away by a dish I had called the snail mail which was phenomenal. It tasted great and the presentation was on point. We had a server who seemed to be extremely knowledgable as well as personable. We asked to see a wine book and it was personally handed to us by a wine connoisseur who helped pick out the perfect red wine that the whole table could enjoy. In conclusion if you ever have a loved one, a best friend, any type, and/or just want a great night out to eat this is the place to go!

Our large group dining experience on a Saturday night at Fromagerie was an example of a dining experience with such high potential being ruined by poor service. The bad: Our young waiter, Corey, greeted our table cheerily and gradually proceeded to disappoint. We had to flag him down to place our orders. Appetizers arrived and some were served to the wrong people. Then came a long stretch of waiting for our entrees while being neglected by the waiter. The entrees arrived just over two hours after we arrived at the restaurant. Corey knew he failed us and had other waiters bring the entrees in sets of two to the table with a few miscues on where to drop the plate on the table. Admittedly, this critique would be nitpicky in most restaurants but I find it to be unacceptable from such a seemingly high-class restaurant. The good: The food comes close to living up to the sky high prices. Highlights included the steak tartare push pops, burrata, 35 day NY sirloin, and cheesecake lollipops. The china is playful and that playfulness carries over into the food. I respect the kitchen’s willingness to not take itself too seriously, as evidenced by the fact that they serve cotton candy for dessert. The staff recognized its shortcomings with our table and provided complimentary desserts. While this was a nice gesture, I take some offense at the idea that botched service of an expensive dinner can simply be remedied by free sugar bombs. The takeaway: Avoid going here with large groups. There is some hope for having a good experience here if it’s a date night or double date. Be weary of the waitstaff.

SO not worth the money! We came to celebrate a girlfriend’s birthday and we were a large party. We started off with wine and the cheese plate which was as good as any other restaurant that serves the same. For entrees, the majority of the ladies ordered the Hot and Angry Lobster, I ordered the Whole Roasted Branzino and the birthday girl ordered the Proud Mary Cod. The birthday girl was the only one who enjoyed her dish. My friends said the lobster was not good and two of them thought it tasted like it was previously frozen because the texture was grainy… one of them felt ill soon after the dinner and was convinced it was the lobster. My branzino was absolutely tasteless… like steamed fish… not a hint of the truffle vinaigrette… maybe they forgot to finish the dish with it? The only thing that was noteworthy and delicious was the Toasted Coconut Layer Cake which was to die for. I usually prefer savory over sweet but this cake… I think I could eat a huge slice just by myself. The bill was over $ 160 per person after tax and tip… total rip for our experience. I’ll spend that kind of money elsewhere.

Two stars for the Sunday brunch. Really, really not worth the trip or the effort. First, if you’re going to accept a reservation for 2pm when your brunch service stops at 2pm, please make sure you’re willing to serve us the«full» brunch experience, give us appropriate service, make us feel welcome, and not let plates of food run out/get cold. If you can’t accommodate that, then don’t accept 2pm reservations for brunch. The service was cold(at best), and so was a lot of the food. There were items that I would have liked to have seconds of, but I couldn’t because plates were not being replenished. Also, quality of the food was just poor. I truly felt as though it was the type of food you’d get at a hotel as one of those free continental breakfasts. This is supposed to be one of the best gourmet restaurants on the Jersey shore, and I fully expected gourmet food. None. The french toast was really very good, but probably the only thing I truly liked out of everything. I can’t be sure, but I think the eggs were powdered, and the sausage and bacon looked like it might be served at a high school cafeteria. It’s a good thing they make it relatively affordable, but even so, I’d rather spend the $ 35 elsewhere. OK, so maybe it’s because I’m a spoiled Philly food snob, but just come on. I sincerely hope their dinner service is way way way better than this otherwise I’d have to question how this place manages to stay in business. I don’t think you should have to travel to New York or Philly to find a decent restaurant. In fact I know you don’t have to. But go somewhere other than this place.

Came for Sunday brunch and had a great experience with our group of friends. It is great for special occasions. Like everyone was saying, the French toast and the fried chicken were the highlight for all of us. There is also the dessert station where you can order your crepes. I was so full I had to skip. The Bloody Mary is a little weak for me. I like it spicy and it was just a little to bland for me. Free valet. Come hungry.
