Rutherford NJ Taxi Service

Unbelievable.
I used this service 5 times on Wednesday while in town, and had a great experience each time. Then on Thursday I called them for a ride that turned out to be less than a mile away, and they charged me $ 20!
I spoke to Derrick (the dispatch and price setter) and he told me that because they came from Rutherford us why they charged me what they did. I said that this could have been easily avoided if that was the case by telling me that when I called. I told him where I was and where I was going. I have never paid this much for a taxi anywhere, in any city, for such a small trip.
I realize that Jersey doesn’t use meters, but this seems like a case of «get the tourist».
I will be in contact with the BBB on this.
Please be careful, and not get taken like I did.

While the service was prompt, a little prior disclosure with regards to fees would have been nice.
I booked a ride to and from the airport. I was quoted $ 40 plus tolls on the phone. Going to the airport went smoothly enough. I was picked up on time in a clean van and got to the airport with plenty of time to spare.
However, when I was picked up from the airport I was told at that time it would be an additional $ 5 plus tolls, plus parking fees. They had no explanation for the additional $ 5, but said because of ticketing by the police, they needed to park in the lot, find the customer by the baggage claim, and then walk all the way back to the parking lot. Of course, my return flight was delayed, accruing parking fees.
Had I been told about the additional $ 5 and the parking situation when I booked on the phone, it wouldn’t have bothered me so much. But finding out after having to hoof it all the way out to the parking lot didn’t endear me much to the service. To add insult to injury, this time the van stunk of cigarette smoke and I stabbed my leg on the spring that was poking out of the right side passenger seat next to the van door.

Extremely reasonable and reliable — drivers are amiable and respectful. One trip was to Penn-​Newark, and the driver said to me, do you want us to pick you up when you come home? Never occurred to me to call a cab to meet me, I figured I’d grab one from the cabstand, but he gave me their card. I called them before I boarded my return train, and they were waiting for me when I arrived. Would recommend them to anyone.

Alex is THE guy to have pick you up. He’s awesome and really cool and gets you to your destination quicker than you’d expect. Don’t get me wrong: all the drivers are really nice and courteous but Alex is just awesome. He will talk to you like you knew him for years. Alex, you rock bro!

I’ve been using Rutherford Taxi on and off for a year and was always satisfied until this morning. I called for the car like I always do, the dispatcher «Andy» told me that the cost would be $ 12.00. I told him that I always pay $ 10 (that includes last week!) and he said it was always $ 12.00 and he HUNG UP ON ME. I called back, because I really needed the ride, and agreed to pay the $ 12.00. Then the driver comes and said that he was told there was a problem with my cc last week and I had to pay for that trip too (they had the incorrect CVS codes, easily remedied since I do use them so much)…and that trip would be $ 12.00 (sorry, I was charged $ 10, that day… I’m not paying $ 12.00) I will be calling later in the day to speak to Eddie, who is apparently the manager. I only paid for todays trip and told the driver I would deal with last week’s trip when I spoke to Eddie. They have lost my business for because of the very rude dispatcher!

My driver Alex is awesome! Very courteous and respectful. The drive from Newark airport to final destination was very pleasant. Would definitely recommend!

GREAT service! I needed to be picked up at 4:40 AM for a flight at Newark and aside from being nervous that I would wake up late, I was worried my cab wouldn’t be there as scheduled. He was there early, with the door open when I walked out. Alex was very nice, got me there fast, safe and we even chatted along the way. I will not hesitate to call this cab company again when I need a ride.

I have called these guys a few times recently when I needed a ride … I don’t like to wait. These guys showed up quickly for a reasonable rate. I will most likely call them again =)

Great service.
I use them regularly for my airport runs for business trips and other stuff.
I call and less than 10 minutes later they’re usually at the door.
