So many tea options plus wine and beer! Awesome. Came here for Second Saturday Comedy night. Good night out!

I’ve been a «regular» for years, and as I mentioned in an older post, everything the Coffee Exchange offers is excellent. However, I’d strongly suggest that the employees work on their customer service and hospitality skills.

Undercooked food, rude service, I was a paying customer and the manager was rude like I was wasting her time. Accused me of something I didn’t do. Next time I will go up the street to the sandwich shop.

Food is very good Service is hit or miss. Some staff are super friendly, others… not so much. Plan on a longggggg wait. Staff likes to chat, which I wouldn’t mind if it didn’t interfere with my wait time, but it usually does. Had to stop going here because of these issues. To bad, because food is good

My favorite go-to lunch spot in Rutland! They have daily soup, sandwich, and quiche specials that change every day. There are plenty of healthy options to balance out all the comfort food these guys are serving for breakfast/lunch. I like to switch it up and try a different soup each time I go. There is usually one vegetarian option, and one non-veg. Sometimes they run out of soups before 1PM, but there are still plenty of delicious sandwich and salad choices. I had the quiche once, and they did not heat it up. The crust was tasty, but it had potatoes in it that were soggy and cold. I’d give it another try and get something without potatoes. I hear the pecan pie is excellent, though I haven’t tasted it myself. I also hear good things about the Italian sodas. There is also a fabulous tea selection and, obviously, lots of coffee options. Dine in or take-out. The girls and guys behind the counter are super friendly and helpful. Prices are average. Overall, this is a solid choice for lunch.

What a charming coffee shop! We have family in Rutland, so I’m glad we found this spot. Will definitely make this a place to stop in the future! The homemade hot chocolate was superb. Many options for a sweet treat as well! The prices were just right. 6 dollars for a cookie and two drinks — score!

Been here a dozen times over the years. This is a beautiful victorian building, optimal location on an historic corrdor with nice big windows. Good seating options with a comfy sofa to boot. Food and drinks are solid with a nice array of excellent desserts and sandwiches. Very good drink variety although the hot chocolate was not great. Service demeanor was fine, not stellar.

Just what I needed on my morning drive through Rutland! Excellent tea selection, lots of quick breakfast options. They’ve even got gluten free bagels and English muffins!

Beautiful little coffee shop located in an old bank, replete with savings vault, right in downtown Rutland serving a nice mix of delicious fresh coffee, teas, baked goods and other foodstuffs. Clean, nicely lit and with free wi fi(ask for the password), this will be my regular stop whenever up here waiting for my wife to wake up.

Got some attitude from the barista when I asked for a new cup of coffee after a mistake she’s done… Not very pleasant

Had dinner at Little Harry’s and stopped here for a cup of mud afterwards. The coffee was pretty good. Nice and hot just how I like it. The only issue is the organization and cleanliness of the place. There were waiting line ropes in a big tangle in the middle of the place; a pile of chairs in another corner; and the bakery case was in a state of disarray. It almost appeared as though they were trying to partially close the place to go home… But it was 7pm. Anyways, good coffee, nice lady, suspect atmosphere. Next time you are in Rutland, you make the call.

This was an interesting coffee place in downtown Rutland. They have so many options for tea and even more cookies!!! Oh yeah coffee and beer too if that’s your thing. The girl who took our order was funny and friendly. Their tiramisu was pretty amazing. Apparently they make their desserts on site! The shop was originally a bank so it has that unique bank feel, but totally inviting. Looking forward to coming back and trying that chocolate beer and trying out their lunch items! Support local businesses!

This place was very cool. The service was super friendly & helpful. Pretty delicious iced coffee(and I’m a total snob about this, I only drink hot coffee in the DEAD of winter, when I use it to warm up. I converted to iced coffee in the summer of 2007 and never looked back). Something else that you should know about the Coffee Exhange that you wouldn’t know from just reading their name… is they have AWESOMEKNOCKYOURSOCKSOFFPANINI’S. I would definitely be overweight if I lived in this town. I hate a bacon avocado panini and it was truly amazing. I have had sandwiches in a lot of places, I love to eat. I’m telling you this is the place.

This store is categorized under coffee & tea. I found the coffee to be solid, having iced as an option was a bonus but the sandwiches are the secret gem! Three of us ordered a diff sandwich each and we all raved. Great bread, well made, lots of flavor, fresh. I would make this a regular stop if I was local. I’ve had sandwiches this good(roast beef) maybe 2 times and I’ve lived in major metropolitan cities.

I would go here everyday if I lived in the vicinity. Good coffee, GREAT food and baked treats, tons of tea, and beer. Awesome atmosphere. COMPLETELYCONFUSED as to how it is rated 4 dollar signs, but then again, I’m accustomed to NJ/NY pricing.

The coffee is solid. Fair amount of choices. A nice place to sit and people watch while reading the paper, a book, and drinking coffee. The staff is pleasant and doesn’t hurry you out. The prices are fair. It’s nice to see places like this still open that haven’t been put out of business because of(the inferior) Starbucks.

This review is based on frequent experience from years ago(I“ve not been back since 1998, having moved). At that time, Wal-Mart was only just starting to be talked about, and it saddened me that it did, indeed come to be built, but many folks wanted it(and many did not). Anyway, the Coffee Exchange was always a really pleasant hangout, with good coffee, tea(multiple varieties in loose-leaf form, in sealed jars), fresh-squeezed juice, yummy pastries and sandwiches. Oops– I’ve read elsewhere that this place changed hands to become Clem’s( ), and apparently has since closed. Very sad.

The Coffee Exchange is right downtown in Rutland, across from Wal-Mart. How a town like Rutland in a state like Vermont ended up with a Wal-Mart right downtown I don’t understand, but that’s another discussion. Coffee Exchange is built in an old bank and the vault is still present inside. They have a nice selection of tea’s, so much so that I would consider this a tea-house as much as a coffee house. I of course had coffee, a Café Mocha. Extra hot…“I can go to 165 if you want. Can you go to about 185 – 190 please? Scalding. Thank you.“ It was good coffee. The service was friendly and they had a nice selection of pastries to choose from as well. All in all, a nice coffee house to relax in for a while.
