Had a surfin’ bird! Liked the idea of cream cheese on a turkey sandwich and thought I’d give it a try bc it’s there most popular. Nothing special. The bread makes the sandwich and the bread just wasn’t very good. Felt stale and difficult to chew. I went on a Sunday night right before closing so thats probably why. Other components of sandwich were good but nothing special.

Came into here around four in the early evening and there wasn’t much people but the wait for my sandwich was sort of long. Not sure what the staff was thinking. They didn’t seem like they wanted to be there. Have several tvs throughout the place. The sandwich was okay, I had better and on the expensive. Would try another place before coming here

Ordered medium bbq chicken sandwich Togo. I’m not sure if they ran out of bigger box or what. My sandwich was packed and squeezed and turned and angle and fandango into this small box. Looks like they put the bread in the box first and slobber the bbq and chicken on the bread. Ridiculous. Am suppose to eat my sandwich with a fork?

Meh, the sandwiches are pretty basic & way overpriced. It took about 15 – 18 minutes to get 2 of them after placing my order. Way overhyped

I randomly walked by this place one afternoon downtown. My husband and I were hungry so we thought we’d give it a try. I am SO glad we did. You order the same way you do at most deli’s. Look at the menu; which is extensive and delicious. Be prepared to want every single thing on it. Then order at the counter. Once you order you fill your own drinks and choose a seat(inside or outside). They will call your order over a speaker. Your order will served on a frisbee. I thought that was clever. Once you are done you toss the trash in the recycling, wrap up your leftovers, and return the frisbee. The sandwiches were delicious! The perfect place for if you are craving a creative sandwich. The prices are a deal for the huge portions and the fresh ingredients! We didn’t interact with the staff very much as they were chatting with a regular, but they seemed really sweet. They were super quick and they can make a bomb sub. We just found out their is another Beach Hut Deli not far from where we live and we are eager to give this location a try as well. :)

I love beach hut. These bitches are funny. Looks like I have to write more so I’ll say that BH is the only place that carries my favorite beer Alohawk. Try it! Also, be really mean to the staff, they enjoy it

I’m NEVER disappointed in Beach Hut. EVER. Veggies, meats, and breads are always fresh and delicious. Me being the creature of habit I always get the surfin’ bird. It has avocado, cream cheese, turkey, onions, shredded lettuce(YES!), tomato, and Greek peppers on it. The small sandwich is the perfect amount for me and half the time I have the other half left. They also serve beer if you’re looking for a cold one with your food. This location was clean and staff was friendly. And they always have the legit chilliest music playing! My only complaint would be parking. Because, well, it’s downtown and finding free parking BLOWS.

I love this location! The employees are very nice and attentive, the restaurant is clean, there’s ample outdoor seating, and unlike other Beach Hut locations my sandwich is always prepared in 10 minutes or less. If you love Beach Hut like I do, the J Street location is the place to be :)

This place has always been on top of their game. Great staff, great food, great beer & cider and also a great happy hour. They know us by name and keep us coming back. Btw-if they card you it’s only because they’re doing their job so that they can continue to provide great service. Cheers to beach life.

If your a sandwich lover, this is the place! I usually get the Santa Cruz, but today, I tried the Hawaiian salad(comes with pulled pork). It was good, but not enough meat for $ 9.95. I’ll stick to the sandwiches in the future.

Beach Hut, I love you so bad. Super fresh produce, quick, friendly service, great location = 5 stars. I do feel stupid paying $ 9 for a sandwich, but what can I say, it’s really effing good sandwich.

Look… there are a bunch of reviews here that talk about the sandwiches… they are bomb dot com. I usually order the BBQ chicken sandwich… it comes with tabasco, peppers, BBQ sauce, onions and cheese. The bread is also some of the best sandwich bread out there. I don’t know if they make it fresh there or what — but it seems like it is local… not sure if it is — but props for making me think that! The one thing I have«beef» with are their prices. It seems like every time I go there I get a small sandwich, chips and a soda and I drop 11 bucks… just seems like a lot. I know this isn’t Subway… but it seems like there should be more selection for those prices(more meat especially). I do feel like they skimp a bit on that front. I want to say it with a fork and knife for that price.

Yesyesyes. New favorite sandwich spot. I’ve been here twice and the food is delish. I love that they let you order half a sandwich. The first time I got one of their hot sandwiches and me and my roommate split the nachos. Best. Nachos. Ever. My sandwich was good too but I forget what I ordered. Came here last night. Just to split nachos again but for some reason it took over a half hour for us to get our food. Not a big deal since there was a good amount of people there but I was hungryyyyy. When we were leaving one of the workers was super nice and apologized profusely for our order taking a long time. She also asked how we liked our food. Great customer service really makes a difference! :)

The Beach Hut Deli is it’s own kind of deli; it’s not a cold cut shop, or a grilled or toaster-oven place. It’s neither fast-food nor neighborhood. It is it’s own thing, with creative sandwich specials — some hot, some cold, all delicious. It’s like a sandwich restaurant. It’s got a friendly laid-back beach-vibe with a friendly staff(at each location!) and your sandwich is served on a Frisbee and each location has some sort of entertianment — a TV or an arcade game or whatever. Clearly, the Beach Hut Deli people know how to run a deli, but here’s what makes this one really stand-out: The outside back patio. It’s killer. A thing of beauty! It’s covered, so on the brutally hot disgusting Sacramento Summers, you can eat out-of-doors but stay cool, and in the beautiful Sacramento winters, you can eat in the glorious cold, but keep the rain off your food. It’s perfect! All-Year Long! And there are cool long tables, and a bar set-up and it’s all decked out island-style — so in either hot or rainy weather, it seems appropriate. Super relaxing, great food, friendly folk.

Prepare to get your hands a little messy with these sandwiches! I myself got the Shark Bite but by looking at the menu I’d really eat anything. The sandwich I received was pretty big, definitely filling to finish and worth the price. I know I’ll be coming back.

Been to this midtown location twice, first time a small veggie Monterey, then the second time sharing a large Santa Cruz. I had seen/heard of Beach Hut in Davis, Natomas, and Elk Grove but didn’t actually try it until this spring. Midtown has its own parking lot for customers, thank goodness. Eat indoors by the TVs and arcade machines or outside on the patio. Bathroom requires a key from the counter… The counter, by the way, is way tall for someone like me(I’m only 5’1″!) so suffice to say, signing a receipt for an order is a tippy-toe challenge to say the least, haha. The sandwiches are enormous, and this is coming from someone who has been known to eat fairly large portions on her own. I think what does it for me is the cream cheese, the same effect as cream cheese in sushi rolls — fill you up! A little pricey but decent sandwiches when you get the craving for something better than Subway or Togos but not as fancy as Sampinos.

3.5 stars Beach Hut Deli is a casual midtown Sac eatery specializing in sandwiches with a decided bigger=better slant. It features funky surfboard tables, flat screen TVs, two outdoor patios, beer taps and friendly counter service from a mostly college-age crew. The midtown spot is just one location of more than 30 as far away as Las Vegas, with new franchisees opening throughout CA. For about $ 6 and up, you can order sandwiches, including subs in six-, nine– and 12-inch sizes, and you can count on em being generously loaded. Two can easily split a nine-incher! Only the most intrepid(insert college student) diner would consider eating an entire foot of these heavyweight subs. Bacon. Avocado. Cream cheese. Pepperoncini. Curiously, these seem to be found on most of BH’s sandwiches, and they’re added generously! Beer prices are also collegiate-friendly, and pints, such as Sam Adams Rebel IPA(but not Lagunitas) can be had for as little as $ 3 during happy hour. The down & dirty: Drinks: — Beers, maybe wine?. Food: 4 — These sandwiches are loaded, and with top quality stuff! Service: 5 — They want you to enjoy your meal! Setting: 3 — It’s clean, has a cool theme, good for kids too. Value: 4 — I overheard two kids describing the weight: price ratio as «dope.» Date worthy: 3 — Why not, just shave first, OK? Bring your dogs — Yup! Both patios.
