I come to the Broadway Building for educational purposes for work, and I never would’ve thought of a nice little café being located inside a business building. They offer your typical café items, such as coffee, tea, pastries, fruit cups, bagged chips, and ready-made lunch items. I love the pastries here; the scones are nice and moist. They do serve Peet’s coffee, along with some fancy drinks like a Peppermint Mocha and Milk Chocolate Almond Mocha, which I just ordered for an afternoon treat; I think they’re offered for a limited time though. The mocha is incredibly sweet, so I’d definitely get fewer pumps in the future. For a coffee drink outside of an established coffee house, I’ve definitely had worse. This is also a sweet spot for lunch! They have sandwiches and salads that are made-to-order. I’ve gotten a salad with chicken. The chicken was nice and moist, and the salad had a variety of fresh veggies with a well-seasoned dressing. The price was under $ 10, so nothing super cheap, but it beats a packed lunch from home when you’re in the mood for something fresh! Plus, I only come here a few times a year, so sometimes you gotta«treat yo’self» as they say in Parks and Rec. There’s a moderate amount of indoor seating and some more tables in an outdoor, gated area. Sometimes it gets a little tight. Also, because there are so many people in this building, the line to order can get long. Heads-up for UCDMC employees: If you’re taking a class in the nursing portion of the Broadway Building(and sometimes in other parts of the UCDMC campus), you’ll usually have the opportunity to order something for lunch. The Broadway Café makes sure it’s ready by your class’s designated lunch break time and you can enjoy something fresh and hot. Treat yourself as you’re sitting through class. :)

It’s definitely not bad. I would have given 4 stars but I think it’s too pricey. Customer service is very good. I’ve been here twice. The first time I ordered a turkey sandwich on a sourdough roll. It tasted beautiful! I loved how fresh it was, the delicious bread(I don’t eat bread often). Today I went in because I knew I could get a decent salad. I ordered the Oriental with the chicken breast. It had a lot of flavor which I appreciated but the chicken. geez. There was potential with the charbroiled chicken but it was just too dry to be worth the price tag. I actually forced myself to eat it for the protein. I also ordered a small cup or chicken and turkey soup. This was more like a chili or chowder, with probably 3 bits of meat. The saving grace is it tasted delicious. There were several different beans like kidney, navy, white and pinto. The beans soaked up the chili wonderfully. The chili actually tasted exactly like a Nutrisystem meal I’ve had by the same name, if that means anything to you. I’d go back if wanted to spend a lot on a sandwich or soup… and if I can’t find a nearby Panera.

Its always a displeasure when i get to the café and see John taking orders at the cash register. John(the owner) is all over the place, he changes the price of items all of the time, he is rude and inpatient. I do however love all the girls that work there, they are very friendly, professional and patient! Food is ok, my favorite is the ORIENTALFLATBREADPIZZA they serve on thursdays!

Went right at lunch time with a long wait just to order so I was kind of skeptical about how long it was going to take BUT my food was ready within 3 minutes of ordering. All of the staff working were very friendly and had smiles on their faces even with though they were busy. I ordered the tuna sandwich and pasta salad both of which were very fresh. Will definitely be coming back!

That was the best tuna sandwich I have had in a long time. The bread was soft, the tuna salad had the right combination of moisture and tuna flavor, and the vegetables on it or fresh. If I worked in this building on a regular basis, I would spend a lot of money eating in this café. Also, they seem to be very fast how to get in getting your food out to you.

I work right across the street so we come here occasionally for lunch. Their food is always good and made to order. Ingredients fresh and they always get the order right. They are a little pricey but the quality of the food makes up for it.

The Broadway Café is the best! I have never been disappointed in any of the menu items I have tried. The pastries are baked fresh daily. If you haven’t tried the tri tip tacos, they are a must and are available every Wednesday. They are pretty good size so if you can’t eat 2, you are able to get half an order. The salads are always fresh and flavorful. During the summer months on Friday’s they have a BBQ lunch menu which is very good also. John the owner is always there with a smile and the staff is very friendly.

A real hidden gem. Worth a visit when you are in area. All food is made from scratch. In otherwords, you get real food not mass produced«Stuff». The baker Maria comes in early daily to make fresh pastries, cookies, and breads. The food they put out from their small kitchen is truly remarkable. Furthermore everyone is super friendly and personal with all the customers. Check out their BBQ Fridays for tasty burgers or even tender tri-tip sandwiches. My wife had the hawaiian Chicken panini and it was big and meltalicious. Breakfast burritos are another winner. Considering the quality of the food the prices are more than reasonable. The new menu boards make it really difficult to choose among the many tempting items. Do yourself a favor and give them a try.

I don’t think I’ll ever come here again. Maybe I just came on a bad day. Café seems run down and the employees did not seem happy. I stood at the front waiting for my turn, and when one cashier was available, she didn’t even look at me and assisted someone else who came in after me. I thought«Okay, maybe she just doesn’t know that I haven’t ordered yet.»(Though it wasn’t busy) Next cashier became available and she did the exact same thing! Completely didn’t look at me and was about to assist someone who came in after me until I intervened. This rubbed me the wrong way. I ordered half a BLT sandwich with swiss cheese and avocado(extra fees for both). These add-ons were reflected on my receipt. Order came out quickly and I took it to go. When I opened the pack, there was no swiss or avocado. Ugh. And the bacon was overcooked. UGH. And the sandwich contained sparsely placed lettuce and was extremely messy. UGHHHH. FYI I RARELY write negative reviews.

I totally love the food at this place. The staff is wonderful and always pleasant. I had the pizza for lunch today and it is phenomenal. If you get the chance you should stop by and give this place a try.

Still love this coming to this café and I just recently learned they make all their baked goods from scratch. I really like their muffins, moist & delicious. My faves are blueberry bran, morning glory and Apple(actually has Apple slices in it). The chocolate chip cookie & oatmeal cookie is really yummy too. Oh and also the banana bread, the crust has just the perfect crunchiness to it. Ok now I’m hungry… :)

Went here based on the positive reviews and Close distance to my work. The parking is a nightmare as this location is within the uc davis health system building! Second, ordered a half sandwich and charged $ 6. The bread seemed super stale, the vegetarian sandwich used hummus and some other spread which did not go with a normal lettuce, cheese and tomato sandwich! I was very disappointed and they had no use of mayo! Think they need to clarify the menu. Also, cheese was an extra charge, and for a vegetarian sandwich that was disappointing!!! My coworker loved the quinoa salad so I think I maybe give this place another chance and just avoid the sandwiches! The prices seemed very high for a small mom/pop type of atmosphere this place seems to provide!

Went here because there were good reviews… Bad move. Even the salad was bad. I ordered the hawaiian chicken panini and my girl ordered the tuna sandwich. Her sandwich was plain and flavorless while my «chicken» tasted like it was frozen and microwaved instead of actually being cooked. My salad was worse than salad from mcdonalds. Not a good place to go for food. Oh. And the panini was the size of half a normal sandwich.

Work in the neighborhood and lunch out about twice a week, almost always at the Broadway Bakery Café(BBC). Sandos made fresh to order, fish and tri-tip tacos on «Stand up» Wednesdays as good as they get, the spaghetti and lasagna specials«taste great» and are«more filling.» A few pre-made salads and small meals are available for those in a hurry. Just like Biba, owner John regularly walks the dining room to make sure everyone is happy with their order. Even though I always dine in, I am usually back to work in about 30 minutes. Not the cheapest lunch on a block that includes $ 5 footlongs and Jack’s dollar menu, but the best $ 6 – 8 you can spend for lunch in the 95820.

I love this little place. When ever I’m in town I have to stop in for lunch. I’ve never ordered anything that I didn’t like, so be sure to order something different every time you go back

Came here to get a coffee and some homework done. Place was dirty, none of the tables were wiped down. The internet was password protected and the coffee was nothing special, served in a paper cup. I should have looked for a Starbucks.

Never knew this little eating place existed and I’ve worked at UCDMC for a year now! But during the summer(and maybe into the fall/winter/spring too? not sure!) they offered bbq things, and the tri-tip sandwich is delicious! I was a little confused on how to order, but you order from the register, pick up a bread thing yourself, and go outside to tell the bbq person what you ordered. Then you can finish your sandwich with various condiments that they provide. If you want bbq sauce, ASKFORIT! The owner was super nice and gave me some cookies on my way out. :) Made my work day more enjoyable! :P
