The owners of this establishment started coming in my business when we first opened two years ago and started becoming regulars. It is at that time I learned the importance of supporting small businesses. I decided to return the favor when they told me they owned a restaurant down the street. Everything that I’ve tried on the menu has so far been good and never a disappointment. And everything is made from scratch: from their sourdough bread to their custom croissants. Prices are reasonable and customer service and food quality is always consistent.

Let me start by saying that their food is hella good! The ambiance is ok and the customer service is pretty strong, but what makes this a 3 star place for me is how inconsistent their inventory is on any given day. Forget about coming by for lunch, the couple of times I’ve been here past 11am, they were pretty much wiped out of most of their food. Which, good for them for selling everything, but if you’re going to put something on your menu and stay open till 2p, it’s weird to not plan accordingly. That said, if you happen to be in the area early, definitely stop by, but if it’s past mid-morning I wouldn’t waste my time going in just to be told they’re sold out of everything :-/

First time here. I had the turkey and Swiss croissant and it was pretty fantastic. The hash browns were also delicious. The only thing I didn’t really like was having to doctor my own coffee, but I can live with it. Other than that, this place is really good and I’ll definitely be back.

Great spot for a light snack or a filling meal in a casual setting. I opted for an espresso drink and a croissant to go. But wait, they have day-old pastries. So… I got six croissants for the price of three. So in they go to the freezer at home.

Pro’s: woman who took our order was pleasant enough. Con’s: conversation to place our order took forever, did not seem like they had systems in place to process a customer’s order efficiently, prices were suspiciously high, cafeteria feel inside. Felt like the employees were bored & did not want to be there. Sat talking over dirty dishes for over half an hr. Was asked if we needed syrup for French toast. I got 4 pieces of French toast & a side of unopened fruit, a cup of coffee & a small oj, & I dropped $ 15. WAY overpriced for an underwhelming experience. Wish I had gone to Café Serrano’s in West Sac for a full plate w/EGGS &BACON, big portions, & great sevice — out the door for under $ 10 :-)

Always fresh croissants every morning with a variety of choices. You must try. I’m never disappointed. Owners are very friendly… support local businesses always my motto!

Cute little spot to stop in and have brunch. The atmosphere is a cross between going to a Denny’s and chilling in a coffee shop. They have breakfast and lunch items available and espresso drinks. The service was friendly and didn’t take long to get our order. The food is nothing different than what you would making at home. I had the omelette and it was good but nothing spectacular. My friend had the stuffed hash browns. They definitely give you lots of hash brown but they could add more bacon or maybe even sausage in it. Overall, it’s a cool place to grab a bite and chill.

Excellent breakfast and coffee for reasonable prices. I have yet to eat anything bad and I’ve been here many times.

We have been coming to Café Lumiere since its opening. One star for being local. One star for excellent service where back of the house staff comes forward regularly to attend to the needs of customers. One star for great care and amount of food for fair prices-including baked goods. One last star for sustainable practices and for there always being parking and for the quick wait times.

At least you know you can always get a table without wait even for Sunday brunch. The food is very forgettable. The service is spotty.

A hidden gem! We live down the street and decided to just go in for a cup of coffee and pastry, but we were pleasantly surprised to find out they had a whole breakfast menu. The food is always great! We have been here multiple times. The coffee and mochas are good, but the I don’t think the nice girl behind the counter knows how to make a cappuccino, so I don’t order it anymore, but it does not stop us from coming.

I decided to come here for breakfast on a Tuesday at 6:30 a.m. There are only two street parking spaces immediately in front of the restaurant and they are both painted green and only good for 15 minutes. The atmosphere of this place leaves much to be desired. The furniture is old and worn and the lighting is dim besides right by the window. Right now there are just a few patrons eating breakfast solo. I ordered the veggie breakfast burrito for $ 5.45 and asked for some of their homemade buffalo sauce as a side. The breakfast burrito was pretty decent and the homemade buffalo sauce was noticeably good. I can’t give more than 3 stars because the atmosphere makes me want to leave rather than hang out – but the price of the food is a pretty good value for the amount you get.

Should have never been introduced to this place. I crave their croissants in the morning, or even for lunch. Love the fact you can get breakfast here for lunch. The staff is incredibly sweet. The overall appearance of the place is clean and inviting. This place has become one of my favorite spots now. I would recommend it to anyone to try them. I feel terrible that i have driven by this place so many times and never knew it existed. I am so glad my co workers took me here for lunch. Prices are not bad either and their food is yummy. If your driving by, stop by. If your thinking about getting donuts, stop here and get croissants. :)

This is our UMPteenth time here, lost Count but who cares. It’s the same as visit one. Presentable staff, friendly as well. Always have a Smile on their face and a greeting for everyone who walks in the door. The owner is a good guy, Jon, and he is always quick with a joke or a very delicious suggestion off of his vast menu of creations and homemade goodness. Today we ordered the croissant stuffed French toast and the bacon stuff hasbrowns. We couldn’t decide so we went all in. (Review paused for impending food coma) Holy moley That was AMAZING like seeing a monkey ride a unicycle amazing. Like watching jeez i don’t even know, amazing things. The stuffed hash browns were cooked to perfection, the bacon eggs green onions sour cream and Sriracha make this pop off the plate and down your throat, Mix it in with the croissant stuffed French toast and you are in food heaven. Holy crap you gotta try these. We killed em and don’t even feel guilty about it.

You want a real breakfast? It’s here. I’m surprised this place wasn’t busy when we visited on a weekend lunch. Oops, I almost tripped and fell into some feelings. I’m good now. Your loss is my gain. My patience is grateful. The Breakfast BLT($ 8.49) — thick bacon, lettuce, and tomato on a croissant with provolone cheese, fresh basil avocado, garlic aioli spread, over-easy egg. Flaky crust with a succulent center, the croissant was exalted, not loutish like a piece of toast. The egg was easy on the eyes, easy in the mouth, easy all the way down south… that sounded more sexual than I intended. Bow chicka wow wow ~ Orange juice? Heck no techno, this ain’t a regular breakfast. Let me try that Mocha Glacé. It’s never too early for chocolate-ty dessert drinks. All day, eerday! That was quite a lovely lunch outside their patio. I want to give a major shout-out to spring! You’re the real MVP!

I feel like we’ve gone to every brunch spot in Sacramento… why have I never heard of this place?! After we finished dropping off a cupcake order, my boyfriend took me over to Café Lumiere for brunch. We’re never really in this area. well, at least it didn’t seem very familiar. The café is located right across from Momo’s Meat Market but that’s about all I recognized from looking around. The café is very small — maybe about 10 tables inside and a few outside. When we arrived I was stuck with my usual brunch dilemma — sweet or savory? I almost ordered both French toast AND stuffed hash browns, but the guy sent the ticket back to the kitchen before I could order the French toast, so I guess he made my decision for me. But it’s okay because the stuffed hashbrowns really filled me up — hashbrowns over scrambled egg, with bacon, green onion, sour cream, cheese, and salsa. Oh and with sriracha drizzled on top — yum! All of their drinks seemed normal until I saw the ‘green tea raspberry glacé,’ their version of a frappucino or blended drink. That combination of flavors isn’t very common but it should be because it was really tasty. Only downside — after we ordered we looked around and all of the open tables weren’t bussed yet. We went outside to the only open table which was in the very bright sun. My boyfriend decided to just clear the dirty plates and cups from another table that was under an umbrella so that we could sit there. I definitely think if they have a place that small, someone needs to be on top of clearing tables. Or people should put away their plates themselves: P Overall awesome spot, I would love to come back and try out the French toast next time, or maybe some of their pastries!

Been in and out of Café Lumiere a couple of times. Snacked on a Snickerdoodle on my first visit and was just drooling over their menu on subsequent forays. Today, at last, I was able to indulge in their highly acclaimed«stuffed» hash browns and a stack of buttermilk pancakes. Whew! It was delish! We ordered the bacon-stuffed hash browns. You know? Everything’s better with bacon. The hash brown«sandwich» as it were was stuffed with eggs, pepper jack cheese, salsa, Sriracha chili sauce, and oodles of flavor. The side of buttermilk pancakes was the perfect finish. Plenty to share and leftovers to boot. I hear their croissant are fabulous. This for another time. Lunch menu looks equally tempting but just not enough time to get it all done.

I ordered the Asian Sesame Salad– Shredded cabbage, red cabbage, green onion, carrots, crunchy noodles, sesame seeds, almonds with Asian dressing. I added grilled chicken. It was a big portion. I loved the dressing that went with the salad. The salad was so flavorful, that I didn’t really need meat. A tiny miss was that the crunchy noodles weren’t so crunchy. I really wanted to try their pastries, but most things were already sold out. I guess I need to come in the morning. I did get the brownies, since I was going to bring my coworkers back something. The cashier threw in an extra brownie because one of the ones she gave me had a piece break off. The brownie was so moist and delicious! It had Ghirardelli chocolate chips in it. I wanted to save it for when I got home to eat it with a glass of ice cold milk, but it didn’t make it that long.

Croissant sandwich — delicious! I’m a big fan of carbs and this place hits the spot! I ordered the croissant stuffed french toast with a side of hash browns. I thought it was okay. It looks just like pancakes or crepes. Pretty in presentation. The croissants are stuffed with cream cheese dipped in our cinnamon batter, cooked and served with strawberry and whip topping. My fiancé ordered the country club croissant sandwich which included turkey, spring mix, bacon, cheddar cheese, mayo and Dijon mustard. Bomb diggity! I ate half of his. muahhaha — overall very satisfying. Service is slow here though as they don’t have that many staff working but everyone is soooo sooo nice! They also close so early; around 3:00. All their food sells out though. We wanted to try the chicken noodle soup but they ran out of it and most of their baked goods were gone. I wanted to try the stuffed hash browns but I’ll try that next time. I totally understand the rave about the croissants now. We also had a snicker doodle cookie and the iced chai latte. It was almost as good as Starbucks’s! ;)

Café Lumiere opens early enough that this place is one of my go to places for a breakfast bite on the go with my usual choice being the ham and swiss croissant. It’s tasty and fresh and a good way to start the day.
