if you thinking of placing your order over the phone I suggest you not to do it because the cashier will waited for you to show up pay for your food then it will then be making your order. If doing night time during the first business hour when if you place an order they have some food left that are from lunch time they will ask you if you want those old dry out or soggy food that you probably wouldn’t able to eat it with your meal so they couldn’t be so wasteful on there part.

Got sick from the food the second time I went there and the owner lied when she said they don’t take Discover when I had used it there the day before. First visit was ok but second definitely substandard.

Walked in. Went and got food. Two rows of dried out food and you call it a buffet. Filled my plate and realized what Im about to pay for and walked out. The waitress was rude, dont know how to talk to customer. I seldom give bad reviews and Im not a finicky picky customer. But all Im asking for is good food that’s not dried out and a variety since it is after all a «buffet».

I love the food here at Chung King, we been loyal customers for some time now. All though the selection of food isn’t much, what they have taste amazing. Love the fried chicken they serve, remind me of the one we use to get back when we lived in the Bay Area. The customer service is great, they always make us feel like home.

If you like the Traditional Chinese dishes or Chinese Comfort Food then you will like this buffet, It is simple display of Favorite Items and very good, the Brandy Fried Chicken, Pot Stickers, Teriyaki Wings, and Foil Wrapped Chicken are excellent, again this NOT the cooking of majority of today’s Asian Buffets, I would mirror it to the former Luau Garden, Dynasty or Tahiti, and Tina is Back a few days a week to make sure her customers are well taken care of, They Have the Same Chef that has been there for over 30 years Service is always Nice, the place is clean, its just a older décor from another era. I appreciate this place and hope it will be with us for many years to come — THANKYOU

The worst buffet I’ve ever been too. It’s gross and unclean. The selection for food was slim to none. It looked more like a soup kitchen. When I sat down I was ready to leave. After ordering my drink and watching them pour polluted water in my cup I was scared. I looked at the buckets of slop they call food and studied my options. I grabbed a plate filled it up with food.(Wanted to get my money worth from this insult). Didn’t eat in fear of food sickness. Paid and left. Good luck to these people. They are going to need it.

I really can’t figure out why there are any positive reviews for this place. I am pretty easy to please, and I don’t expect much from a buffet but this buffet is awful. They had the smallest selection of items I have ever encountered. Each pan had almost nothing in it, several were completely empty and one of the women working wouldn’t get more orange chicken until my girlfriend and I assured her we actually wanted some. The fried shrimp had a strange flavor and clearly were not fresh. None of the food seemed all that fresh frankly, with the exception of the orange chicken which wasn’t ready until we were about to leave. Everything tasted slightly off at best. The chow mein was reminiscent of something you would find in a grocery store freezer, the soup was bland, and the fried rice looked and tasted as though it had been reheated from the day before. The restaurant looks shabby, which wouldn’t bother me typically but the décor ends up making it feel dirty somehow. The layout makes it difficult to maneuver around while getting food, especially if there are other customers trying to figure out the flow. The people working were mostly polite but seemingly uninterested in customer service. An employee was using a staple gun for most of the time I was eating, it was remarkably loud and not the least bit considerate or necessary from what I could tell. I wasn’t expecting a 5 star dining experience… We are talking about a Chinese Buffet in Sacramento after all but I think I would have been better off going to taco bell across the street.

Just left this place. It was the most horrible Chinese buffet we have ever been to. They keep their items about ¼ to almost empty. The food seemed very low quality. The sweet n sour pork had a microwave reheated taste. Chow main was tough and flavorless, fried rice bland. The only halfway decent item was the brandy chicken and the broccoli in the broccoli beef. Won’t be returning. I could of had a more tasty lunch for the same price at Panda.

Will never come to this buffet again. The service was terrible food seems like been left over for long time with little to no food selections. Over all terrible place to dine.

For a lunch buffet it was nice basically 20 dollars for 2 people. It’s not easy visible but it’s great the chicken fried rice was a clear 5 and the fried chicken, peppered chicken, potstickers, and wontons were fire! Only down side was their wasn’t a lot of meat sides or they just Were not out when I go up to make a selection. For the price a clear 5

This place does two things well, but really damn well. If you like egg rolls and if you like fried chicken then you’re going to love Chung King Chinese buffet. You’ve heard of chicken and waffles, but let me tell you, you haven’t lived until you’ve had chicken and egg rolls. My partner and I live in San Francisco we moved away from the Sacramento area over 15 years ago and we still every time we visit family in Sacramento go to Chung King to get the egg rolls and fried chicken. Take it from Bay Area foodie, the fried chicken here sucks in San Francisco and so do the egg rolls. If you want the best hidden gem on the planet for these two things, go there now!

As far as food… its a Chinese Buffet, don’t expect gourmet(although their veggie eggrolls are absolutely to die for). This review is mainly about the outstanding customer service of this place. The woman working overheard I was vegetarian and had the chef cook side orders of veggie rice or chow mein since I couldn’t eat everything that was on the buffet. She also brought sesame buns out for people, who looked like her regulars, saying«I know you love these… have some!». She kept asking if there was anything else I needed and if I got enough to eat. Really great service here. For what I tried the food was quite good. Again, egg rolls were excellent. The veggies tasted fresh, the cream cheese wonton were great and my drink was constantly refilled before I had to ask. Overall, excellent service. Very welcoming and nice. I left with a full tummy and no regrets, even though I vowed for years prior to never eat at a Chinese buffet.

Nice buffet. $ 6.99 lunch special. Limited but decent. The fried fish and chicken were very good. Chicken fried rice was good too. Everything seems to be made in small portions that they replenish eventually. If you ask for something that’s out, they’ll make it for you. Fast, easy and affordable. It is only $ 6.99 and that sure beats a whopper at burger king. Mom and pop restaurant where everyone is very hard working. If I’m in the area, I’d probably stop by again.

Decent chinese food, mostly go there for the foil wrapped chicken, which can be a little greasy. I like the chow mein. We go there because it has a little bit of a family tradition for us.

Just went here for lunch, not impressed. Very limited selection and food was cold. There was limited meat in the dishes. I don’t recommend this place to anyone.

We’ve been coming to this place since I was preggers with my son. He is now 30 years old. The food has ALWAYS been fresh and the price has always been great. And, when we did go, we were always met with a smile and a how are you, come and sit down. And never had to tell Tina what to drink. she already knew. Hot TEA. TINA has always been nice to us and told me if the cashew chicken was not on the buffet table. she would ask the cook to make it for me… I LOVETHISPLACE. ANDALWAYSTOLDFRIENDSTOGOTHERE… We stopped going regularly because we moved out of Sac and when we moved back. This was our very first choice to have dinner. So when we finally got to go back, the LAST time we walked in. we notice right away. the waiters were different and the place looked different. The lady said to go ahead and serve. THEFOODWASAAAAAWWWWWFUL!!! Brandy chicken was dried out like it had been sitting there for hours, the food trays needed to be stirred or replaced. The amount in the trays was very little and soooooo dried out. that was the very first time we said the food was stale and all of it tasted so gross. it was terrible!!! This was the first time in 30 years my family all said they did not like it. The lady came over to us and asked how was it… I said. Did you change cooks? Where’s Tina? She said«Im the new owner. Tina does is not here anymore. None of the other people are here anymore. She asked again. how did we like it. I told her. YOUNEEDTOGETTHEOTHERCOOKBACKANDDON’T BESTINGYWITHTHEFOOD. THROWITOUTIFITGETSDRIEDUPANDPUTFRESHNEWFOOD… NEEDLESSTOSAY. WENEVERWENTBACK… bummer because we really loved that place when it was Tina and the others that were there!!! :(:(:(

This place doesn’t have a ton to choose from but i pretty much love everything they have. I moved out of Sacramento and i haven’t found a place that i love more than this place. Remember this is a BUFFET so it’s not fresh out of the kitchen stuff but for a buffet it’s really good!

It was not good, at all. The selection was limited and tasted like it had been sitting out for awhile. I bit into the mushroom chicken and thought I chipped a tooth. I noticed that they were filling up take out containers from the buffet to sell to A customer that placed a To Go order over the phone. If you have small children AVOID this place! They charged us for our 1 year old and they don’t have a changing table in the bathroom. It was so bad that I downloaded Unilocal just to write this review. I should also add that it was hot inside the restaurant. I’m not feeling so well a few hours after eating there. Never again!

Rarely give one star, or speak in hyperbole, but damn… This is by far the worst Chinese Buffet in Sacramento. All of the food was just sitting there and looked a week old. Since this was Monday, shouldn’t they start a «fresh round» of their platters. The best thing was the steamed rice… because I added the right amount of soy sauce. The fish was lukewarm, the«ribs»(mystery meat) was drenched in a weak sweet and sour sauce, even by Americanized Chinese food standards. It may seem stereotypical, but the random fly who would not leave me alone during my lunch was not a nice addition. So, never again. Plain and simple
