CrossFit Analog

I was visiting from Socal and dropped in for a morning workout session. The members were real friendly and the facility has all the equipment you’d expect from crossfit. I’d definitely come back again and recommend it for anyone looking to join a gym. Thanks Jesse!

I have been coming to CF Analog for almost 5 months. Prior to starting CrossFit, I lost ~25 pounds on my own through strict diet and exercise. I ran regularly and did light weight lifting at a local gym. But I got extremely bored of having to inspire myself each day to workout. My radical solution was to attempt CrossFit, which I had never tried before.
CF Analog takes the guesswork out of my workouts, and Coach Jesse is a great motivator and teacher. As someone who had zero experience with Olympic Weightlifting and Gymnastic movements, I was pretty terrified to try CrossFit. What if I was terrible? What if it was too hard? Never fear, because Coach Jesse (and Coach Jet!) will explain how to do everything. If you can’t complete the difficult movements, they have no problem scaling it «down» to something easier (I routinely bypass Pull-​Ups in favor of the much easier «Jumping Pull-​Up»). Additionally the coaches are very concerned with doing movements safely and with proper form, so there is little need to worry about injuries.
CF Analog is full of CrossFit devotees and awesome athletes but, if you’re out of shape or new to CrossFit, don’t let that deter you! This gym is full of the nicest people. Each class is full of welcoming members who will say hello when you walk in the door, and encourage you to keep going while you work out.
Finally, the price point doesn’t hurt. This gym is affordably priced compared to some other CF gyms in the area. Also the equipment is all top notch and the new larger space is great. There is so much room for activities!
All in all, I would definitely recommend this «Box» to any future, or seasoned, CF athlete. Five stars.

Jesse is a great coach with the knowledge and experience to back his training. Highly recommend for a challenging workout that will keep you motivated to get back in the gym.

Talked to Jesse about dropping in to his gym to see what Analog was all about. He welcomed me with open arms. The people in the class were extremely friendly and made me feel welcomed and part of the group. Jesse is a class act and so is CF Analog.

I’ll start by saying I’ve never made the effort to review any establishment before, no matter how good or bad. Crossfit analog (owner Jesse, trainer Jet, and the athletes we sweat along side) was such a wonderful experience I had to share. First, they are the ONLY box in the area that didn’t require a drop in fee for an out of towner (unheard of!). Second, the hospitality we (my wife and I) experienced was greater than any box we’ve been to, bar none, and we’ve been to many. Finally, the experience of the coaches and the inclusivity of the members makes this an absolute treasure. We can’t thank them enough. We opted to purchase their apparel (t-​shirt and sweatshirt) to give back to the welcoming and wonderful business. Highly recommend both– Super comfy and soft and a great way to show support!

Visiting from out of town or just moved to the area and researching Sacramento’s Crossfit gyms provides many options. If you’re reading this to determine which one to chose, I hope this review will prove CF Analog is the only choice. Their owner/​coach, Jesse, and coach Jet were so incredibly warm and hospitable we felt as though we were instantly indoctrinated into their cf family.
My wife and I were visiting the area from out of town and chose Analog because they don’t charge for drop-​ins but then went back the next day and brought friends, even though there was a closer one to our hotel because our experience was so stellar. In lieu of giving us free drop ins, we opted to purchase their apparel to support the box and spread the love, even though it was not required of us.
The coaches and athletes also gave us phenomenal recommendations for food and libations in the area and even invited us to their holiday party that evening which we would have absolutely attended, had we not come to town for a wedding the same evening.
A final note– Eddie and moose, the two dogs of the owner were so adorable and perfectly behaved but will sit patiently underneath you if you eat.

Being an avid crossfit athlete, every time I go out of town, doing WOD is always part of my agenda. Ended up talking to Jesse and telling him I’m going to drop in at his box. His first response was come on in. I got there and I was welcomed as one of his locals. Despite of the box was not so big, if you are a CF athlete, box size would not matter. Jesse was really attentive and giving pointers, the A plus to any box. Good coaching is paramount to any CF box. My home box is always big on «safety». This is why I gave Crossfit Analog an applause for keeping the integrity of a great CF box. Looking forward to come back to this place.

The owner and coach of this Gym (Jesse) had the extensive background, education and training in athletics and Olympic weightlifting that you are looking for. After trying out many of the other crossfits in the area, Crossfit Analog is my regular box because of the training you will receive. You’re not getting coached by any old level one Certie in a box, Jesse knows what he is saying and doing! The gym is very efficient, aka ways clean and full of great people. You will enjoy training here!

Jesse is an excellent trainer who excels at the weightlifting and mobility side of CrossFit
The gym has a great atmosphere, it’s friendly, low pressure yet you get that helpful encouragement to keep going when the workouts start to hurt.
The equipment is high quality. Everything for Olympic weightlifting, rings for everything, quality cage style pull-​up bars with powder coating to protect your pretty hands, kettle bells, rollers, lactose balls for mobility.
Finally, Jesse has a focus on safety which is so important.
This gym is a great. If I lived in Sacramento, I’d be here everyday (except Sunday as it’s cheat day and you can find me eating crap and drinking beer.)

This is a great CrossFit facility… I’m told CrossFitters refer to facilities as a «Box»…OUTRAGEOUS!
Anywho, it really is an awesome place to workout. Jesse is a SUPER-​knowledgeable coach in training techniques… in Spanish, not so much. The people who train there are welcoming and positive, not just about their efforts but about yours as well. You may be able to throw around some Simpsons quotes while training as well. The equipment is top-​notch and well maintained and the location is ideal. At 8^th and R, it can seem a little out of place during the day with all the State workers in the constant scurry for parking spots, but for the evening and Saturday class, having an empty R street to maneuver on is awesome!
I’ve been practicing CrossFit at CrossFit Analog for a little over two months and I’m shocked I’ve not written a review yet. It’s definitely a place to check out if you are looking to venture into CrossFit.

But on a serious note this is my favorite box in Sacramento. I was into bodybuilding for a long time before I checked out Analog. I was definitely against crossfit and gyms like these before but after working with the head coach and owner Jesse he has completely turned me to the dark side. I’ve never had such great gains and results while also being able to listen to gems like The Chronic. No head phones needed here folks! & the crowd is full of super friendly people that you actually will like to talk to! ;)
I also drive all the way from citrus heights to downtown just to workout. THAT’S how dope this place is!

Had the opportunity to stop in during my short stop in Sacramento after a cross country trip from DC. Unbelievably I got the chance to have the box all to myself with Jesse, owner and head trainer. He helped me work on a few things and was a great trainer to talk with. Crossfit Analog is great box and has an awesome coach/​owner. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking in Sac!

Knowledgable trainers. New equipment. Neat location made my visit to analog crossfit easy and welcoming. Highly recommended.

Best gym in Sacramento.
–Location: downtown and walkable from most offices; the street is lined with 2-​hour parking and, in my opinion most importantly, it’s 1 (one) block from Insight Coffee
–Coaches; Jesse and Steve, the co-​owners are among the top in the business. Both are experienced athletes to begin with, and are Crossfit experts. Steve was formerly a head coach of the US National Rugby team, and despite his numerous concussions was awarded a PhD (honorary?) and is a current professor of fitness-​related subjects at an actual university. Just don’t ask him too many tough questions, and speak slowly. I’d give Jesse’s sense of humor ²⁄₅ stars (he can be a bit nerdy), but he’s a really nice guy.
–Workouts are small-​class style, adapted to fitness level, with direct coaching and individual attention. Every day is a different workout so you never get bored.
–Facility: it’s in a cool old building with big windows and lots of light. It has weights, pull up bars, medicine balls and all sorts of everything. Note: medicine balls do not contain medicine.
–Community; you are working out along side and with people of every fitness level and background, people who live and work in your neighborhood, and it’s fun.
–Prices; they have discounts for pretty much everything, even if you can only make it a couple days a week.
–Schedule; morning, lunch time, and evening. I’m lobbying for a midnight class too.
