El Meson Mexican Grill

Well it’s taken less than 2 years for the people that bought El Meson to run it into the ground. Now they are out of business. This was originally a great place to eat.

It’s a very SAD day at El Meson. They are closing their doors for good after today. Which means no more of the best mexican food in town. Gonna cry… what horrible news!

Loved it! Great service and food.

Terrible service! A group of family members of the restaurant workers walked in after we were seated, they got to order first and were served their meals, while we waited to order. We will not be returning, bad way to run a business terrible customer service.

This place is really good… great Chile Verde and they have a been dip that is awesome.
I’ve tried a bunch of Mexican restaurants & 99.9 percent of them are over cooked, poorly seasoned & just generally lacking in imagination.
This place nails it on all counts… best I have had, in this area, for sure.
Great & friendly service… can’t go wrong here:-)

Excellent food and extremely clean restaurant.
I had an enchilada and crispy taco and my husband had chicken mole for lunch. I’m not a fan of mole really but this was surprisingly delicious! Enchilada sauce is very flavorful and ground beef (taco) seasoned to perfection. They serve chips with refried beans, which again I’m not a big fan of but these were so good I ordered refried with my meal over my usual black or whole beans. They have a homemade salsa bar and after trying all 4 or 5 offerings it was hard to find a favorite they were all so good.
I was highly impressed with the food and especially with the seasoning and flavors in everything we tried. Will definitely go back as I want to try their fajitas next time.

Hands down the best Mexican food in the area. It’s authentic and the food is super delicious. My son the pickiest person in the world loves this place. When you see real Mexicans eating at a Mexican restaurant, you have to know it’s real authentic. I love their veggie tamale combo/​dinner plate and my son loves the fried taco dinner plate. I also especially love the bean dip and salsa bar with chips before the meal. We will continue to come to the place.

Everything here is always so delicious. Their enchilada sauce (red) is some of the best I’ve ever had.

First time visiting & it won’t be the last!!! This place is delicious and everyone was wonderful. They hosted my mothers special 50^th birthday & everything from the food & service was fantastic!
I had the poblano mole and it was delicious. I could taste the different spices & flavors. I highly recommend this restaurant. Bring your family & friends. Great Mexican food!

Ate here for the first time yesterday with my hubby, let me tell you this place is legit !! First amazing décor no tacky «wanna be mexican» restaurant, the hostess and server were so warm and friendly, service is on point and speedy, and the food it is AMAZING…
IT IS NOW OFFICIALLY MY FAVORITE RESTAURANT EVER! I will be coming here for a very long time. Great Experience overall.

I was just here with my boyfriend.
The wait was a bit long, but they did tell us the kitchen staff needed to get caught up. which was totally understandable. We waited probably 10−15mins.
Finally sat down, they lady apologized again. I told her no worries. She brought our chips and beans right away and waters. Many salsa choices they have a super spicy one :) which I loved but the more I ate it the hotter it go so I stopped.
Our waiter Martin was the best, very friendly, nice and always checked up on us. :)
Food was great, flavorful, and fulfilling. We did over order so I didn’t get dessert. But they have a pretty big and great selection on desserts.

This place is hands down the best Mexican restaurant in Elk Grove. In more ways than one, El Meson stands out among the 356 774 335 678 007 552 restaurants in the area. This place is well-​kept, clean, friendly, professional, prompt, and above all, the food is amazing.
I have to give a shout out to Martin our server who was funny, polite, prompt in meeting our requests, and so much more. Martin was the kind of guy who made you feel like he enjoys his work and the people he provides service to. Martin made sure our drinks were always full, informed us of the drink specials and salsa bar… I just can’t say enough.
I also want to mention the attention that management gave to the guests… this is an establishment that is very involved and hands on when it comes to the satisfaction of their guests. I could go on and on (like with how clean the bathrooms were!)
Prices were fair, and like I said the food is well worth it. Try the spicy pork because it is unlike anything I’ve tasted (and I’ve been to a lot of Mexican restaurants). It was juicy, tender, moist, and had just the right amount of spicy kick. Believe me when I say you gotta give this place a shot. Needless to say, I will be referring all of my friends to El Mesons. Thanks again to Martin and the entire staff!

Best Mexican restaurant EVER! My family and I ate there last night; it was our first time there and we were blown away with the food & service. The rice is the best of any Mexican restaurant (just like mom makes it) & the chilli verde was outstanding. They treated us like family, the food was excellent and the service was incredible. Make sure to ask for Martin, he was on point and provided service like we were the only ones there. Big shout out for Martin! Definitely our new hot spot, we’re not only telling our friends about this place, but telling them to tell their friends. Hands down, best Mexican restaurant around!

Ordered the specialty plate with pastor (spicy pork) with refried beans & rice. My main complaint is that there was more gristle than pork & everything was salty except the rice.
My friend ordered the chicken soft tacos. He says the chicken was so dry you could rub two pieces together & start a fire. Probably won’t be eating here again.

Shoot, I thought the place on Franklin was good… I MUST say, the cooks are ON IT!!! Now they got that mexican breakfast buffet. Constructive Critism: I personally think they need a little more maturity in their staffing. Young kids are good to give an opportunity too but there is a trade off in skill-​set and quality service. Dont get me wrong, the service is ok but a I personally prefer a lilttle more experienced servers waiting on me hand n foot and double checking the order and not appearing to be in a rush to walk away. I eat here frequently and plan to continue becasue NO place is PERFECT.
Its a ‘live and learn’ and I hope clients who may have had a bad or so-​so experience will give it another try. Can’t base the entire business on one employee or one shift of employees.
Try it again if you ever said «I’m Never Coming Back» I’m sure they will SINCERELY appreciate it!!!
Small restaurant business is HARD to keep open and operating and have small profit margins.
The owners are personal freinds of mine and I hope this is taken as a positive comment coming from my own restaurant ownership mistakes and experience.
To those that have had an unfavorable experience, give them a break, try it again and speak up to the management with honest constructive critism if it happens again. Cool? Johnny Morales :-)

El Meson is under new ownership and you can tell the difference! The food is much fresher and tastier! I ate the chicken fajitas with black beans! Yummy!!! You know that heavy feeling after eating Mexican food? I didn’t get it! Love this place!

Came on cinco de mayo and it was packed and the service was amazing given how busy they were.
They had a special cinco de mayo menu which worked out well and the food was amazing!
We will be sure to come back more regularly!

When I first started coming here the the food was excellent but there was one employee there that was just horrible. She wasn’t friendly at all. Now the service is awesome but the food just isn’t the same since the new owners took over. I normally order the chili verde and it doesn’t taste like the usual chili verde. The flavor is lacking so it tastes completely different than all the other chili verdes I’ve ever had.
I do like the ambiance of the restaurant though. It’s nice and spacious with plenty of seating. The horchata is still good and I do like the salsa and the chips but with the price of the chili verde plate not being comparable to the quality of the food I’m not sure that I’ll be back.

Just got back from our honeymoon and we are craving some good Mexican food. Oh how I missed this place. Always great service and outstanding food. You get a lot for your money here. I love the fajitas and the salsa bar.
