Best coffee in town in an atmosphere that is casual and unassuming. The focus is on coffee and community.. a true café. We are incredibly fortunate to have this institution in our city. Love me some Espresso Metro!!! No obnoxious coffee snob claiming to understand every nuance of coffee and its chemistry behind the counter … just real good coffee and a comfortable place to hang out.

Expressing Metro is a coffee shop near Sacramento City College and Curtis park. I usually enjoy a White Mocha and Cheese Danish after my morning class and chill before work. It is definitely my choice over Starbucks and provided great coffee and breakfast choices. There customer service is excellent. However, during very busy times at Metro I found my coffee to be less than mediocre. I would rather wait 5 extra minutes for my coffee if I know it’s going to be hot as requested. I love how close it is to Sacramento city and eager to see how the business grows. –A.Hendrix

The girls that work there try way too hard to be cool. The barista was claiming how she doesn’t drink coffee but she makes the best tasting coffee. She then proceeded to go on forever about how she doesn’t drink at parties, but eeeevveryonne begs her to make them drinks because she is amazing at mixing drinks. Honestly, I think it would serve her well to actually try out her coffee because it tasted terrible. She made a white tuxedo drink and I was a little sketched out by the weird chocolate sludge mixes coming from god-knows-where that she was putting into the drink. Whatever… as long as it tastes good right? She then put her last dash of «funny» into her weird act by squirting about 7 inches of whipped cream on top of the drink. I said thanks… and left as she was laughing it up with her co-worker. Kind of pissed me off because I honestly wanted to get a cup of coffee and be on my way. I stood in front of the trash can outside and had to wipe off the whipped cream from my cup, which was also conveniently dripping all over my hand. Ridiculous and childish. Grow up! Took a sip and thought I was going to get diabetes. Tossed it into the same trash can and was wishing I had just gone to Starbucks. Too bad I didn’t want to spend $ 10 on coffee in one day.

Quirky atmosphere and good coffee. You are easily distracted by the hanging whales and art in the café. This was my first time here and it’s within walking distance to sac city college. Also, parking here is stress free.

I stopped by this cute little coffee shop one evening as I was waiting for my boyfriend to ask the college nearby a question. Upon entering, the man behind the counter was so polite. He was friendly, patient, and more than willing to help me with my order. I love visiting new coffee shops and ordering the same thing: an almond milk cappuccino. So of course, I did the same here. To my disappointment, the almond milk didn’t really foam, but the cappuccino was still good. I probably won’t be back just because I’m not really frequently in the area(one time visit kinda thing) but I think this little coffee joint is worth checking out. :)

Such a cute little café next to sac city college, right across the street from a nice park with big trees. Barista was adorable and helpful. My latte was pretty much perfect. Chai was delicious.

This café is in a beautiful historic building across from a grassy square. It is so nice to sit outside and enjoy a coffee. The coffee here is really good and the prices are very fair. They have some nice, reasonably priced things to eat(try the gazpacho!). Their chocolate chip cookies are the best in town! The staff is nice too. I would highly recommend this phenomenal coffee shop. It’s my favorite!

A fun place to have morning coffee & a bear claw. The music is interesting and usually pretty good. The place is crowded with Sacramento City college students which can be fun and noisy and sometimes a little disturbing. Sometimes they have great soup at lunch but you can’t always count on that.

Nice coffee shop that’s conveniently close by to SCC. Always love getting a bagel, sausage burrito, and juice or coffee to start a day. Good service and comfy atmosphere. 4 out of 5 stars for Espresso Metro.

i always see this place but never venture to go inside for some reason. Today i was on a time crush and had to go somewhere quick to buy some coffee. i walked in and already knew what i wanted in mind which was their ice coffee. i got a medium size ice coffee with room and it was a size 12 oz which was 1.95. also there was a table filled with lots of condiments on the table for drinks. the layout of the condiment table reminds me of peets coffee but with a much bigger variety with bottles of honey, and different powder to spic up the drinks, such as cinnamon or nutmeg and etc. they also have the lids and spoons out as well for you on the counter. the wait for the coffee was fast because the line wasn’t long. the wait time was about a 2 minute max. There were some people sitting inside and outside. the inside looks a bit run down and mixture of used furniture with mixed type of chairs. the vibe here reminds me of a thrift store, with recyclable, vintage, and used furniture. the place gives me an odd and hippy feeling. the lighting in here is more on the dim side. in the inside there were plenty of tables to be seated, same as for the outside. parking situation for this place can be limited. i imagine customers would have to park on the street and walk over. most of the customers here were mostly work around the area or students. mainly students stop by here to study and they do have free wifi as well but i dint stay to use it, so i am not too sure. before leaving the place i went to the bathroom to wash my hands. on my first step of stepping in, i almost slipped and fell lol. scared the jdwkjdwejdnw of me, because i didn’t want to touch a single thing inside, not even the walls. the bathroom was filthy and wet and just grossed out. i was imagining what if someone need to take a dump inside, i feel sorry for them lo. after using the bathroom, i had lost my appetite and didn’t want to buy any pastries or go eat lol. also the cover for the top of the toilet was missing too. anyways lets rate the ice coffee, its strong and is good and i think its great. the coffee is strong, even with a splash of cream. i think its a great convenient quick stop for students to get coffee. service is friendly and drinks were served fast. just really need to remodel the bathroom or at least make sure the floors aren’t wet. anyways hope you found something funny, or useful, or cool and help vote please. have a great day and stay positive and smile and happy Unilocaling.

I’ve always wondered about Espresso Metro when I drive by it, and I finally stopped in recently. We were on a long bike ride on a hot sunny day and were in dire need of a cool drink, so we popped in. Inside has that quirky vibe and décor that really blooms with non-chain coffee shops. The pink-haired girl at the counter was friendly and served us right away. Within scant minutes I had my cherry italian soda, he had his Arnold Palmer, and we enjoyed our drinks and our little plate of brie & bread out on their patio.(LOVE their selection of food and nibble, by the way, I swear it’s right out of a picnic basket I would pack.) Mellow atmosphere, good service, delicious food and drink at a reasonable price. I’d come back!

Morning staff is much friendlier than staff later in the day. Food is so-so. Coffee would definitely be improved if espresso machine were cleaned regularly. Overall cleanliness is dubious. Bathroom is a scary(as in unclean) place and would not pass ADA code Music frequently sucks and is often deafening. Noise canceling headphones are highly recommended. The location and fact that they have wi-fi is the reason I go there at all. If there were another option close to SCC with good coffee and consistent service, they could probably make a fortune.

School function, pta meetings or anything with the school, we get metro coffee. It isn’t as good as most coffee places. It alright. I rather get temple coffee. The people are sometime rude and rushing you to order

I think I would frequent more if their pastry and food display and countertop looked more immaculate? I get the eclectic and rustic motif they are probably aiming for? But the floors do need sweeping. I avoid their restroom altogether because I’m just not sure about it. The building is just too old. I remember seeing this same building since I was a very young child. It needs upgrading especially the restroom.

They are whatever. I live right next to them, so for me they are just convenient to go to when I don’t feel like driving to Temple and I don’t want Starbucks. Coffee is okay. If you like a good misto or café au lait, they make theirs with espresso shots, so it is basically a latte. Service depends on who is working. There are the same two people who are very off-standish, and honestly, they always seem a little off. Unfortunately, these two people are almost always working when I come to this place. And if their customer service wasn’t so shoddy I would probably frequent this place much more(I drink coffee every day). Overall, there are better coffee shops, but if you need coffee and you are in vicinity of this place I would recommend it.

I’ve been meeting my tutor here once a week and it seems to be a good space to study, whether in a small group or solo. I’m not an afternoon coffee drinker so I’ve been enjoying their italian sodas and iced tea. I tried their chocolate chip cookie based on the positive Unilocal reviews and it was a tasty treat.

Always great espresso and service. Treat yoself to a cookie, if there are any left. I’ve had many items off the drink menu but stick with a dbl shot, slow pull. Great place!

Pros: Right around the corner from sac city, this place is a nice place to hang out especially with study groups. This place has wonderful coffee, a wide range of tea flavors, and many vegan and vegetarian eating options and baked goods. They also offer some food for lunch and such like soups, burritos, and sandwiches which are usually good. There’s interesting art hanging everywhere, and if the weather allows, the patio is nice enough to enjoy a sunny afternoon. Cons: this place totally needs cleaning and upgrading. Moreover, the staff needs to really up their customer service game. I come here often enough, but always feel like the staff simply doesn’t want more customers. The toilets are not very clean, and there is no seat cover either.

This isn’t your average coffee shop. It’s literally around the corner from Sacramento City College so always expect long lines and it always being full of people. I came here on a Friday morning before our school field trip and waited for ever! I also had to stand here while the person behind the register was having a private conversation with the lady behind me. It was actually really frustrating because it was obviously effecting her work. Also there is a Unilocal perk for this place, however be warned that the lady who made my coffee had no idea how to redeem it. I always think I should help small businesses instead of going to Starbucks, but this place makes me love Starbucks even more. Oh also the parking enforcement is crazy since it’s street parking so, make sure you pay an stay no longer than your allotted time.
