Awful! Too salty and kuripot on their combo plate. I would rather travel to south sac for Filipino food.

Ive lived up here in natomas for 6 years and have been dying to eat home-style filipino food. I grew up in Daly City and was spoiled with a handful of convenient places to eat, but since moving up here for college and now making a living up here, its been super hard to get that luxury. Im a horrible cook, and any chance I can get a home cooked filipino meal, i get super happy. I had no idea this place existed, and I came here on a Saturday afternoon after hearing about it from a family friend, and my LIFECHANGED. Simply put, the food is so reminiscent and good, I can see myself coming here a lot. It is a blessing in disguise for me because I have been waiting for a place like this. Conveniently located and so affordable. Im sad that it’s been around for 2 years and Im only hearing about it now! Definitely going to be a regular here. The food is great, the staff is friendly, and overall i am stoked. I hope this place never closes down.

Today I had the sinigang it was perfect! A very balanced broth with big chunks of pork and tons of vegetables. Just like everything they serve, and I eat here 5 days a week, it was excellent! These folks are the best!

As a person who grew up in a Filipino household this place has a nostalgic feel to it as well as great food. I plan on buying a party tray of lumpia, Turon, buko salad, and lechon for my best friends wedding! The owners Nelda and Gammie are friendly and so are the staff! Looking for to my next visit.

We just came from our Ortho appointment & my husband wanted to look for Filipino restaurant close by since we’re all starving. We’re glad that we found this place. They’re very friendly & accomodating people. And most especially, yummy food made it complete. We will definitely come back to this place.

I don’t want to be harsh on a local Filipino business, but the overall rating is skewed by sporadic reviewers! If they ask for a 5 star review, I hope you get bribed with cash because their food isn’t worth it. Their«market» is an overpriced pantry($ 1.49 for sinigang mix and $ 8.50 for ice cream) and their limited hot dishes get uglier by the hour sitting in oil all day long. If breakfast is their only strength, then they cannot be compared to the other local Filipino businesses. If you haven’t tried Filipino food before, this is not the place to start. Before you decide to place a catering order, just know that their cancellation policy starts with a non-refundable 50% charge. You’ve been warned, you’re welcome. In fact, it sounded like they put us on hold over the phone to make that decision on the spot. That’s not good customer service, that’s poor communication. Ready for the the worst part? Their pancit bihon was nasty. My husband saw it and asked if there was dinuguan mixed in because it was darker than dark –__– Some of us proceeded to suffer through a few bites, then my parents came to the rescue and threw half of the tray away! They said it must have been drenched in soy sauce. Now, I feel guilty for bringing that junk into my mom’s house.

A solid 4 star this place was just good and cheap! I got the beef dish and the pork sausage dish and added a fried fish for just $ 2 and it was all just great love the egg on top! Check them out on Truxel

Good things come in small packages! That usually means that something is small, but it has better quality than big ones. This tiny restaurant/grocery store serves Filipino hot dishes and cold dessert, halo-halo. I have heard of this place for the first time from Unilocal friends’ check-ins and the pictures looked pretty darn good. Took my mom and daughter here because I was craving for some Filipino food. I either have to cook it myself or drive to Sacramento to have some authentic Filipino dish. I circled the vicinity a few times and couldn’t find the name of the eatery on the building. Finally parked my car and walked literally to the front of the building of where I think it is located and there it was next to Sub Express. It is parallel to Truxel Rd and the entrance is facing Truxel Rd. We entered the restaurant and it is noticeably tiny. It has five tables and the whole place can probably seat up to 12. There was patio seating but it was a bit cold and windy to eat outside. As we entered the place we were greeted by a young Filipina with the customary Filipino hospitality that I remember as a child in the Philippines. We placed our order with her at the counter. I have been craving a ‘silog’ combo for some time and I got the longanisa and tocino combo with garlic rice. Mom and daughter each ordered the rice and sinigang. They had six specials prepared behind the counter. These entrees could change daily. Our meals were brought to our table rather quickly. I enjoyed my meal, savoring each bite. It was delicious and filling. Sodas were purchased in cans and are $ 1.50 ea. They have quite a selection of «combos» to choose from and all priced at under $ 8.00. Regular ‘silogs’ are just $ 5.99(eggs+your choice of meat/milkfish and garlic rice) This tiny place is not only an eatery but they also have a corner that had grocery items for sale. I saw some canned goods as well as snacks and pastries. They had a cold section too. Notice the name of this establishment… GNC Kusina Atbp. «Kusina» means kitchen and the Atbp in Tagalog is short for«at iba pa». That’s «everything else»

I LOVE this restaurant. To many, it is home away from home and for good reason! They are very polite and kind. The folks who run the business treat you like family! That goes a long way in my book! The food is AWEEESSSOOOMMMEEE! Don’t forget to try the desserts! And they cater too!

Decided to go to this place because Fil Am was closed and I heard that it was a good place to eat. The food was ok. I was craving Kare Kare and they had it so I was happy. I took the food to go but was disappointed when I got home. I paid almost $ 10 and expected a good portion but the containers were not even filled. For the amount I paid, I could have quadrupled the same portions from Fil Am. The food satisfied my craving but I’m not sure I will go back. They specialize in silog so if I do return it will be to try that.

Every once in awhile, we head back to Elk Grove to visit some peeps. We always try to either stop by a favorite restaurant of ours or try something new. This time, we were craving filipino food and found this spot in Natomas. A little drive out… but we didn’t mind. The place is semi difficult to find. The entrance is actually facing the street instead of the parking lot. You’ll see a door in the parking lot that says to walk 3 more doors down. Haha. Anyhoo, the place is small. It works as a café/grocery store. They have a menu full of different silogs. We ordered 2 different combo silogs. I had the tocino/pork bbq while G ordered longanisa/pork bbq. Both were served with delicious garlic rice and 2 fried eggs. I was really impressed by this hole in the wall. The meat was super tender and cooked perfectly. The rice was garlicky delicious. The service was fantastic. The lady at the counter was super friendly and the guy made it a point to walk around and ask how everyone was doing. I love places like these. 5 stars and I hope to come back again the next time I make a trek out here.

Let me start by saying it’s so hard to find a Filipino restaurant in the Sacramento area(especially coming from the abundance in the Bay Area). We heard of GNC from family friends and it’s primarily a small shop that sells Filipino goods/food products. Ok, something I’m used to… We were in the area and had to stop by. We ordered longsilog and bansilog which by the way, were priced nicely, and cooked to order. What can I say, it was exactly what we expected(and that’s not a bad thing). They also had ready-made entrees such as laing and chicken mechado. Now if they only added palabok to their menu, I’d probably stop by more often. The owners were very friendly and made an effort to start a conversation with us. I’d recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a home cooked Filipino meal. I hear their halo halo is also delicious!

Mini Filipino mart & restaurant! They have refrigerated and frozen products like fish, shrimp, vegetables, tofu, ice cream, etc. Lots of snacks to choose from & Filipino sauces. They have about 4 tables here to dine in. Their food menu consists of a variety filipino food like tapa, Tocino, pork/beef BBQ, longanisas, etc. BF& I got the combo which comes with 2 kinds of meat in your preference, garlic rice, & eggs. I got the tapsilog & Tocino combo. BF got the tocino &BBQ pork combo. The tocino was good, sweet, & flavorful. The BBQ wasn’t bad either. The tapa didn’t have much flavor to it, but I added garlic vinegar on it which is on the table, & it made it taste better. The garlic rice didn’t have much flavor also. But the eggs tho! I loved how the eggs were cooked into the right gooeyness. So when you put that fork right into it, all the liquid from the yolk is running out. The staff was nice & one thing that I wish they would have on the menu was pork sisig! Hint hint ;)

Stopped by this place because of Unilocal and we wanted to try something different. This place is hard to find, the entrance is on the road side of the shopping center, by the backside of subway express. They have a daily menu and the plates are anywhere from $ 5.99-$ 7.99. They are a small store and restaurant. The staff and owners are very friendly and will explain the menu. That’s helpful because all I know is adobo, lumpia and pancit. We ordered the bbq chicken and the longsilog to go. They come with rice and two eggs. We ordered halo halo and turon. Everything was pretty good and the price was right. We will be back!

I have to give a big thank you to Unilocal/Yelpers because I have driven past this strip mall almost everyday and never knew this place existed. The place may be a bit hard to find, the entrance is on the opposite side of the building from the parking lot. The entrance faces Truxel Road. Well, I finally came in for the first time a couple of weeks ago on a lazy late Saturday mid-afternoon. I don’t know anything about Filipino food, nothing at all. I was hesitant to go because I always had a difficult time ordering at the other Filipino food/deli shop down the road. But not to fear, the folks that work here are super friendly and willing to answer my questions. There was a slight language barrier when I asked what food items were in certain dishes, but not enough to hang me up. They even gave me little samples to try. You order your food at the counter and they bring it out to you. I ordered the #5 silog($ 5.99) which is longsilog– sausage served with garlic fried rice and two eggs which are prepared over –easy if you don’t specify. I don’t know any Filipino words, I just used the menu and pictures on the menu to order. The eggs were fried to over easy perfection, cooked with a bit of a run. The rice was nice and fluffy. The plate was presented well. They sprinkled little crushed garlic bits over my whole plate. It was a bit overwhelming towards the end but sooo tasty. Before I left I ordered a couple of items from the hot deli trays. I ordered menudo and a creamed spinach like dish, I forgot the name of it. I liked both, but it didn’t wow me. But since it was my first time eating the dishes, I had nothing to compare to. The place is pretty small, they have two 2 person tables and two 4 person tables. They have food in hot deli trays and limited dry goods. They also cater parties. I’m eager to come back and try something new on the menu.

Wanted something sweet to end the night with. Walked passed this spot and saw that they serve Halo Halo. Went in about 830pm. I think they were getting ready to close. This place is a small Filipino market that serves hot foods. Wasn’t there for the food though. Ordered my Halo Halo and waited like 10 min for it. It took kind of long, but not a big deal. Halo Halo was big and only $ 3.99. I didn’t I would finish it, but I did. It was that good.

I love Filipino food. My mom cooked it all of the time but never really shared her recipes and secrets with me so I’m stuff buying Filipino food now that she can’t really cook anymore. Boo! But, luckily for me, there are places like this one that can satisfy my cravings. Mind you, I can’t get it as often as I’d like or as often as my mom used to cook it, but it does satisfy the«need» for my Filipino food. I’ve have most of the silogs. They are absolutely delicious and worth trying if you’ve never had one. The garlic fried rice is the best and it compliments your silog perfectly. Having garlic fried rice with an egg as to how you want it cooked with whatever«meat»(since you can get fish too) you desire is my kind of home cooking when I can’t get it at home. My only gripe is that this place opens at 9am. At times I’d like to pick up some silogs for breakfast on my way to work but I can’t since I start at 8am. Maybe if they opened a little earlier and marketed it that they were open earlier they would get a little more crowd. Plus, once you get good reviews from one person that spreads like wildfire. Or, if you’re like me, you don’t want to share this little tidbit because then it’ll be harder to get your craving satisfied and we all know that’ll be all bad. Come and enjoy their great food and their great service. They are so friendly and patient. If you don’t know what something is, don’t be shy, just ask. They will help you.

So glad we found a Filipino breakfast spot so close to home, without the drive to South Sacramento! The owners are very friendly and Silog is served every day & all day! $ 8 is a reasonable price to me especially since it comes with so much food! We’ll definitely be coming back! =) The only negative I have is that the entrance is very hard to find since they don’t have a professional sign and it’s door is facing the main road.

First, it is kinda hard to find since it is not visible from the parking lot. It is located at the back of Sub Express. The entrance is facing the main road. Upon entering, you will be greeted by the owner and the server. The server is friendly and always smiling. She never misses to say«po» at the end of every sentence. In Filipino, it is a sign of respect. I like how she constantly greet everyone in Filipino, asking if they need any help. Definitely a great customer service. We went here around 2PM and only 1 table is occupied. The space is pretty narrow with 6 tables but it is still comfy to eat nonetheless. It has a homey vibe. Typical eatery in the Philippines that has cooked dishes that are already on the counter beside the cashier. They have 6 Filipino dishes available. The cooked menu changes daily. They are known for their All Day Menu SILOG dishes too. You’ll have an option to order either Regular Silog(1 Viand + Garlic Rice + Fried Egg) or Combo Silog(2 Viands + Garlic Rice + Fried Egg). They also have a small grocery at the corner. They sell Pampanga’s Best Tocino and Longganisa too. Magnolia Ice cream flavors are available in this store. It feels like a sari-sari store with all the Filipino goodies at its best. We ordered medium size Binagoongan, Tapa and Bangus Silog and Bangus and Tocino Silog. As much as I want to love and like this place, it is hard most especially if the food is bland. The presentation of food looks really appetizing and it was served extremely hot. The Tapa is made by curing the meat with salt and other flavors. One small bite SHOULD have a strong and tasty flavor and I did not taste anything. It felt like I ate an unseasoned, boiled beef strips. Very disappointing! The Bangus(Milk fish) has a decent size and was fried perfectly but then again, it lacks seasoning. The Tocino on the other hand is a sweetened cured pork. I can imagine the caramelized, tender, sweet and savory pork meat and it was far from what I expected. Bland, bland, bland. :(Binagoongan is good. Although, it taste like more of a Bicol Express but still, it tasted really good. I will miss the kind of service they provide which is rare to find. But I cannot go back to have another taste of a flavorless food. I’m not an expert in cooking but I know that seasoning is everything. You need to taste and tweak to bring out the best in food.

Saw a post about this place on Nextdoor. They’ve been open since July?! Definitely needs more publicity. I was able to swing by after work Tuesday before they closed, hours are 9am-7pm. The owner Gammie is really nice, funny guy! I introduced myself and he started singing the Beatles’ song«Michelle» while he cooked my order, breakfast for dinner, haha. I’m always a sucker for Filipino breakfast foods. I got the bangsilog(milkfish) to go. Verdict: the rice was so garlicky, I love it and it was enough to last me two meals. The fried fish was well done and the vinegar was definitely infused with garlic or chili or something extra! The atsara(pickled papaya) garnish I didn’t like as much but that’s just because I make my own. For just over $ 5, it was super filling and a great deal! Order at the counter and you can eat in and watch Filipino TV or take out and enjoy home-cooked taste at home. They have food already made like sinigang(tamarind soup), dinuguan(pork blood stew), pusit(squid), etc. or breakfast combos served all day with garlic rice, fried eggs, cucumber and tomato on the side — bangus(milkfish), longanisa(sausage), tapa(beef), tocino(pork), Spam. They don’t have a printed takeout menu just yet, but are working on it. OHMYGULAY — They also have a small grocery section with Asian produce(bok choy, eggplant, etc.), canned goods(Spam, sardines, Vienna sausage, you name it), breads(not sure which bakery they’re from but basic pan de sal), bags of rice… if you ever need that particular missing ingredient. Turon(like a dessert lumpia with banana filling) and desserts at the front counter as well. They have an iPad register which was pretty high«tetch.» No neon signage yet so hard to find at night, park in the back of the Taqueria/Sub shop and walk around. Until the sign is up just follow your stomach to this gem of sarap(delicious) cuisine. I will definitely be back. Bring your friends and pamilyas… or at least bring some food FOR them!
