Tried this place today after seeing it was new. The pupusas were substantially better than when it was Isabel’s. However we ordered 6 pupusas to go and waited forever! We saw two couples order and receive their food before we got ours… And we were there first. The waitress simply said that the pupusas are made fresh so we should call ahead. Um yeah they should be made fresh! With all the time we waited we could have driven to La Flor off Northgate. Won’t be going back.

Went to finally try Isabel’s pupusas and found this place had taken over. Decided to try it anyway. The prices seemed very reasonable. $ 2/pupusa $ 1.50/tamale. Ordered 4 bean-cheese-pork pupusas and one chicken tamale to go. Then ordered an horchada to go. Went and outside to wait. The outdoor dining area on right on Freeport Blvd. is, not surprisingly, very noisy from traffic. Most of the tables were dirty, either with complete leftover meals or with spilled food and drink, including wet chairs. It was not cleaned at all the whole time we sat there. Even though only two people ordered before us it took 35+ minutes to get our order. It just can’t take that long to put together such a simple order. The people in front of us were served, ate(including a pupusa), and left while we we were still waiting for another 5 or 10 minutes. About 5 minutes into our wait the server brought out a glass of horchada and I reminded her that I’d ordered it to go. Needless to say when we finally got home and I took a drink it was that same, now 40 minute old, horchada. $ 2.50 for a melted, diluted horchada? Ridiculous. They should have made me a fresh one, I wasn’t the one who screwed up the order. OK, finally, the food. The tamale was fairly small but quite good. A reasonable price for a restaurant. The pupusas were big and well filled. Sadly the filling seemed to be 95% canned beans and, despite the insane wait, the pupusas were undercooked. They were pretty near the top of the grasa scale as well. The curtido was quite good.

Update:. It’s okay, they’ll have to improve. I’ve had a delicious machaca burrito, one delicious pupusa, a doughy one, a decent asada taco, and a crunchy taco with a strangely chewy taco shell. As a neighbor of the place I was hoping for a bit more. I’d get the machaca burrito again, maybe a pupusa hoping it won’t be doughy. I mean, the other one was perfectly fine. The Northgate places are still my favorite for those though. Their soda fountain wasn’t working today, but they do sell bottles of Mexican coke which is better anyway. Menudo is served on weekends. Okay…

I really don’t comprehend how these people are comparing the food to isabels. My cousin and I went last week thinking we were going to eat some good pupusas like we’re used to, wrong! When we arrive we find the sign for this new restaurant. We initially hesitate and are disappointed but figure we might as well give it a try. They’re a cheap carbon copy of isabels. I ordered the chicarron con queso pupusas(2) with rice and beans. The pupusas came out… no cheese. The«chicharron» was disgusting, bland, and soupy. The rice and beans were at the same level. Bland. Dry. And making me quickly regret trying this place. The waitress came by to check on us and asked how we like it. I told her the masa is alright and the curtido was good but my pupusa had no cheese. She retaliated without hesitation«no there’s cheese, there should be». I busted that thing open and showed her, no cheese girl. I finished my food because I was raised to finish my meals and hell I was starving. My cousin and I decided that we will not be back. What i wanna know is where can I find Isabel so I can get the real pupusa hook up.

Horrible food, everything from a can. I got nachos — Isabel’s used fresh chips, cheese choice of meats. These were chips from a bag, cheese from a can, jalapeños from a can, beans from a can and the meat had no flavor. Basically same food you can get at the movie theater. I will stick with Oscars.

I loved their pupusas! Very similar to Isabels. I just wished their burritos were bigger. Over all the food was amazing.

This place is amazing. Their pupusas are phenomenal, their wet burrito is amazing. I had a steak wet burrito with red sauce and it satisfied all my cravings. Their customer service is beyond perfect. It is fairly similar to isabels so if you loved them you will love this one more!
