Door man was in front of the bar smoking a cigarette with 30 minutes left until close. Saw a dude and two women(myself & two friends) walking up and shut/locked the door. I’m a bartender and I love me some tiki. Wanted to buy my friend a birthday drink and am so disappointed. I understand how much of a bummer cleaning up sticky tiki drinks can be but if you’re open and people show up you suck it up and serve them. Poor form you guys. We would have made it worth your while. Super unimpressed.

Whenever I come here it’s hard not to feel that the majority of their staff and patrons are racist. I stood at the bar for almost ten minutes, making eye contact with the bar tender and was never served. It wasn’t even busy. A group of my white friends came in from the outside area and were served immediately. This feel was not always present at this bar. I will not be returning because I can walk into any other bar in town, be greeted with a smile and served in less than 3 minutes when their bar is slammed.

Came hungry this time. Tatchos– somebody had a great idea and turned it in to that.(see pic) Ambience– midday a little drab. Bring company. Left satiated.

We stopped here for lunch and our bartender Johnny was the man! I ordered the animal burger and it was delicious. Not a single crumb left on my plate. Monkey knife fight on draft as well. Anytime I am in this area this is where I will be stopping.

My first time here. They have a pretty good bottled beer selection. I got the lagunitas brown shugga and my boyfriend got the dead guy rogue. We ordered the tachos to share. It’s got really good flavors with the havarti and cheddar cheese. The only thing is there were too many breaded jalapeños compared to the ratio of tater tots. The jalapeños are delicious but spicy– need more tots to make it a bit less spicy. Will be back to try more food for sure.

The food is great. Had an American burger and it was delicious. Beer is good too. Little hidden but it’s worth finding!

This place is super cool– totally rockabilly. They have some amazing drinks and I forgot the name but it’s something that has to do with tiki cat or something. Lol. Prices are cool not too bad. I like the porch area it’s very Hawaiian looking :)

hi-ya! Recently visited the Hideaway Bar and Grill and while I didn’t have food my review does address the beers/atmosphere. When I first entered I was surprised and unsure if I was at the right place… because after opening the door I saw a sea of women painting holiday artwork. After the initial shock(mind you I was expecting a bar scene) I realized it was painting event and it made sense… art and alcohol =). Met up w/other happy Unilocalers and ordered a… Monkey Knife Fight! I used to regularly get this beer at my typical watering hole, but they stopped carrying it… so of course I was pleasantly surprised when I saw it. The server was readily available, polite and quick about serving folks food/beverages. The atmosphere was very chill w/a very comfy feel to it. The place had a good feel to it for a relaxed drink with friends. Plenty of seating in the middle areas…(limited at the bar), but still doable. Anyway they had a handful of beers on tap, hard on the shelf and bottled, but get the Monkey since it’s on draft. Overall 4 starts for the beer availability, good service and chill atmosphere.

What kind of Wizard forgets to give the owner of the Hideaway a second call to make sure the kitchen is going to stay open another hour? What kind of Wizard drags people into a venue that is crowded with patrons attending a weekly painting class forcing the people he invited to have to crowd into one end of the bar like sardines? What an unthoughtful, unorganized, bumbling smuck of a Wizard! What kind of Wizard promises to bring a cake but does not get around to baking it or making sure he has forks, plates, and napkins? This Wizard should probably be called out by the Grand Order of Proper Wizard Conduct. I woke up in a deep depression on my birthday. It put me in kind of a mindless stupor. I called the Hideaway to make sure that they were going to hold the kitchen open for us only to find out that no one there knew anything about my party. I moped around the house until an hour before the event was suppose to start. Ida insisted that we leave early so we would have time to stop at the Dollar Tree for utensils and pick up a cake from J & J Bakery. Everything worked out perfect. We were able to pick up the utensils and cake and still make it to the Hideaway exactly on time. I was surprised to see a lot of my friends were already there when we walked in. Everyone was so extremely nice and cheery and it did not take long for my depression to clear. Most people arrived early enough to take advantage of the Hideaways wonderful kitchen before it closed and all of the«wannabe Picassos» left before long leaving us with plenty of space to sprawl in even if the kitchen was no longer open. I had a wonderful time visiting with my friends in the mellow late Sunday afternoon, kickback environment of the Hideaway. I really want to thank, hmmmmm! Let me see, there was, Karen K, Kenneth K, John H, William L, Michaelangelo S, David O, Jackie F and her wonderful husband, Lucy M, Ronnie S, Michael H, my daughter Sash C, and Kailyn T. I hope I remembered everyone and thanks again for being there to help me celebrate my 60th. Also, a great big thanks to David O. for getting Chris C, our wonderful and extremely fun past community manager Olivia O, and Marina to show up at the last minute. I really have missed those great old friends and it was beyond wonderful to see them again. Thanks everyone, I had a wonderful birthday and it was all because of you.

It was my first time here and probably won’t be my last. We came to celebrate a birthday and it was a lot of fun! We placed our food order in quickly bc we were told the cook was there only up to three in the afternoon. So it was already 2:30! Not a problem I wanted the boulevard breakfast which included scrambled eggs, toast, two pieces of bacon & hash brown. Hubby ordered the salmon salad though he felt the gorgonzola cheese or salad dressing was way too strong for him. Lucky for me my food was delish and just right! In fact I gave hubby most of my hash browns & one piece of bacon! I was happy bc there was hardly a wait for our food. Got Diet Coke and many refills thereafter. We were well taken care of by the pretty and attentive bartender Morgan there! I’m sure we will come back as they were very accommodating especially bc our food/drink tab had been combined with another friend but not necessarily with me or my HB. She understood and took care of it. Thank you Morgan! Hideaway has a nice-sized parking lot plus there was street parking. There was a separate bathroom for the guys and gals. Hubby mentioned graffiti on their bathroom but I didn’t bother to check it out! I was just happy there was a bathroom! Will we be back? Hopefully as Gunthers was just down the street and this November day was way too freezing cold for ice cream which I Rarely pass up!!! Plus I thought prices were decent for the amount of food we got! So see you down the line Hideaway!

What can I say? Hideaway Bar & Grill is defiantly the best spot for your rock n’ roll pleasures especially their coolest drinks and food too! On 11/19/2015, Alex T, Bridget W, Jenny P, David O, David B, and I were heading to that place for our next stop after Pangaea. As I entered, the atmosphere is very divey feel filled with rockin’ customers in here. The concept is very old school punk feel on it filled with various of vintage pictures, wall of bricks, alternative band stickers, and Hawaiian theme displays especially wooden Tikkis too! The employees including bartenders and cookers are doing a good job here for doing the finest customer service around. Very friendly and hopping! No cons at all! In the bar, they have various of drinks so far from martinis, margarita, craft beer, and more! Additionally, they have weekly specials at an incredible low prices just like happy hour specials including trivia game. Since I did ordered a bottle of «Shock Top» beer, I haven’t got a chance to ordered their specialty drinks and food, so I’ll be back in the next visits for a second try. There’s an outdoor patio right on the back side of the building, so you can enjoy the social pleasures with your friends and co-workers especially playing Jenga too! There’s also plenty of parking available, so you can park anywhere you want. You can also ride a bike, walk, or use public transportation easier without the hassles. All in all, Hideaway Bar & Grill is the wicked, and the most kickiest place to have some good rockin’ times at this divey bar! A well, worthy visit! My rating: 4 solid stars.

Casual fun times and yum times! When I can snag it, a spot in the tiki hut on the patio is one of the best things about Hideaway. The island theme back there is so chill and inviting, and it’s become of one of my favorite places to hang out. Food here is pretty great. The fried pickles and vegetarian sammies are da bomb dot com. Drinks are on the cheaps, and stiff. Bartenders are awesome. They’ll never ignore you(may be because the gentleman friend is a regular? So don’t quote me on it.), and there’s a variety of yummy drinks available. Full bar, wine, beer on tap, hard cider, the works. They do interesting themed music nights here. Last night was Trash Rock Thursday. The DJ seems to be pretty on point from what I’ve seen. This is a place I come to where I don’t have to worry about not liking the music playing. It’s unique and fun, and LOUD. My best times spent here were when there weren’t a lot of people gumming up the works. During the week, it’s usually not too crowded, from what I’ve seen. Crowds will thin out as it gets later. All in all, I can count on having a good time at Hideaway, whether it be for dinner, for quick drinks, or to end my night amid tiki torches, giant jenga, and a hint of stars through the light pollution filtered sky.

I came here with one of those Sweet Deals which I purchased through SN&R. It was a $ 75 gift card and I wanted to use it! I bought the gift cards because I’ve read great reviews about this place. I told my friends that drinks are on me and I was quite surprised how much $ 75 gets ya here! It’s not often that someone can rave about going out for drinks on a budget! The six of us arrived here on a Saturday afternoon, after Brunch. We must have had four drinks each and then some. We also ordered appetizers, fried pickles and garlic fries. The garlic fries were better than and the pickles were decent. The bartenders were very friendly and didn’t have a pompous attitude when I showed them my GC’s. I paid $ 95 total for food and drinks for six people! How often does that happen? Never! Yeah, I was a bit intimidated when I first stepped in… kinda biker bar, no Asians, but felt quite comfy! Everyone is Chill… Laid Back… Perfect! Good food, damn good drinks!

when i am in the area, i am most likely at gunthers. For some reason i always get a bit hungry after gunthers. so i go on Unilocal and search nearby places to eat. this place always pop up, but then there is a short walk, maybe less than 5 mins. i am usually in the area on a sunny hot day, so i won’t want to move to prevent myself from drenching in my own sweat. after some good ice cream, my friends and i wanted to go get some grub and drinks. i suggested this place and here we go, since none of us been there before. when we were slowly approaching the place we were like wow. but in the back of my head i was like don’t judge it til you try it out. once we opened the door everyone turned their head and looked at us. they must be like newbies! then i went ahead and went to the bar and grabbed a menu and decide what to order. i looked at the menu and saw all the different options for a bar and was amazed. i was surprised with the vegan options they serve and i had to try it. then the regulars recommend us with whats good. we took their advice and ordered that. i got the vegan harbor sando sandwich/burger, which came with fries too. i also had to order a draft olympia since i was craving for a cold beer. when i got the beer it was cool but not cold. the beer was warm in about 10 minutes. kind of disappointed with that issue. my sand had grilled zuchunni, shrooms, bell peppers, sundered tomato, caramelized onions, avocado and olives. it came in a sweet roll with my fries in it too. when i took my first bite it was amazing! let me say the sun dried tomato sauce was so tasty. i can tasted the fried zucchini which was warm in the inside and crisp hot on the outside. the onions were perfection! the shrooms was just noms… the bell pepper did give it another texture to the burger. i treat it as a burger since it was so big. i like how it had all types of textures in this, and at the same time it was very tasty and saucy! my order did take the longest to come out of the other orders. the ketchup that came with the fries seemed like it was mixed with some marinara sauce. or maybe they made their own ketchup. the ketchup had a pulp to it. it was tasty but a different taste than regular ketchup and i would say it was great! for the price of my order and beer it came out to 13.50. i was satisfy and happy with it. also the chef is the server too. the chef just marched right out the kitchen and tossed the plate to the table quickly and troop back inside. we were like wow, kind of rude but i do understand its the chef and server so they had to be quick on foot since their might be other food cooking on the grill. i do like the décor on the wall where they had all kinds of weird local art which was screwed into the wall. the tables were décor with beer labels and random bart tickets with money in it and nickels and etc, the table is screwed in with a hard plastic cover as well. i do like how thoughtful of them having a purse hook at the end of the table. the hook can be used for many reasons such as hooking up the purse, a hat holder, or even hanging a short jacket. they do have a pool table and a dj table as well. they have a smokers patio in the back too. the bathrooms were all décor with stickers and graffiti as well. the restrooms were smelly fyi. they do serve brunch on sundays as well. they have the same menu for lunch and dinner as well. i will be coming back soon since i am a fan of this place. thanks for reading and have a Unilocallicious day!

I’ve been to Hideaway about a handful of times now and consider myself a fan. The most recent time that I’ve gone was on a Saturday night with friends. When I arrived at 10 p.m., it was still very easy to find parking in the lot adjacent to the bar. I came with a pretty large group of friends, so we ordered our food and drinks at the bar and got numbers to then take to the patio outside. One reason that this place is a solid 4 stars for me is because of their tasty vegan/vegetarian menu. I usually get The Avenger Burger and fries which I’ve always been happy with. I’ve also had the vegetarian Chili Cheese Fries before and the Fried Pickles. This place definitely has above average bar food for vegans and vegetarians. The patio is friendly to smokers and has ash trays already on the table for them. You can also easily fit six people on those wooden tables and maybe even 7 – 8 if people really squeeze together. They also have one pool table inside that you can play that takes quarters, but some of your shots will be blocked by a nearby booth and doorway. While I never meet anyone new at this bar, it’s definitely a comfortable and chill place to come and relax with friends. If they expand their menu to offer vegan buffalo wings, it would almost definitely become my favorite bar in town.

This is a cool little dive bar! I stopped by on a Wed night, after hearing from various Unilocaler’s that this was a great little place. It does not look like much on the outside, but the inside is warm and has a welcoming vibe. It has a digital jukebox, an old arcade game and a lonely pinball machine. Two pool tables, some booths and a ton of tables and chairs. It has a «sort of» retro 50’s theme with some neat framed pics and tattoo art and space age lamp shades. We grabbed a booth, but went to the bar to get our drinks. I had the special«Tiki punch» for $ 4. Vodka, rum, pineapple and orange juice. YUM! Unfortunately this was a small drink, tasty but one of those with so much ice it is gone in 4 sips. Delicious though. The SO had a Blue Moon on tap, and it was a decent price at $ 5 I believe. The bar was not packed, but it was a mellow crowd. We did not order food, but WOW it looked amazing! I was hankering for some of those humongous onion rings. Some people near us ordered a ton a food, so we definitely were intrigued and decided to come hungry next time. I witnessed huge burgers, crispy fries and other assorted yummy bar food. «Cactus Pete» was playing his records, and the vintage sounds were awesome… it really made the place feel unique from other bars. There was a couple in the parking lot making out. I wanted to shout, «Get a room» but decided to save my juvenile behavior for another night. LOL I am eager to try out Happy Hour here!

I came to The Hideaway for the first time on a Friday night with fellow Unilocalers Lucy M, Evangelina R, Christina D, Justine C and David O to blow off some steam after a long week at work. I love dive bars so I immediately felt at home as soon as I walked in. We first took a seat at the bar to order drinks from the friendly and helpful bartender, and then sat outside on the large patio for the remainder of the evening. I ordered their Vegetarian Slider which was great! It was the perfect size for me(I don’t like to eat a lot while drinking) to hold off my hunger and not leave me feeling super full. It consisted of deep fried zucchini, lettuce, lemon aioli and a bunch of other goodness in the middle of a fresh bun. Yum! To drink I had a Strongbow Cider which was crisp(stored at the perfect temperature) and smooth. It made my top list of ciders I have tried. It also must be said that I was more than impressed with the plethora of Vegetarian choices on their menu! French fries, salad, sliders, sandwiches and veggie burgers a plenty. Definitely two steps up from your normal bar food. Everything is also super fresh and fabulous! We all had a great time while here and wouldn’t hesitate to come back again. The only thing keeping this place from a five star review are just some minor tweaks; $ 10 debit/credit minimum, have to order all drinks at the bar, jukebox with limited selection, etc. I will be back!
