L&L Hawaiian Barbecue

I’ve tried almost all of the L&Ls in the Sacramento area, this one being top two. Service was great and fast, food was hot and delicious! I highly recommend this location as one of my top two favorite L&Ls not only in the Sacramento area, but all together!

food is great, and not to pricey

Got the Healthy BBQ Chicken yesterday. The chicken doesn’t seem that healthy when it’s so greasy, but that and the brown rice tasted okay. I started to eat my salad and noticed a bug in it. You may need to wash your salad a little better or be more careful because that is gross. After this incident, I will not be returning because overall this place is not very good.

KALUA PORK AND LAU LAU FALLS WAYYY SHORT!!! Kalua pork is supposed to have a smokey flavor. Don’t have a smoker, liquid smoke from nugget next door will fix it. Lau lau, same thing. Both need to be cooked longer so it melts in the mouth. Two stars because the lilikoi Hawaiian sun is always good.

Man what can i say besides that this l&l was on hit tho :) got the mini bbq chicken plate. That ish will fill u up unless ur a sloppy mc nasty and u wanna get another scoop of rice or pasta and another piece of cluck cluck.
The service was great and quick, parking is pretty much endless, the bathroom was clean only reason im deducting a star is cuz they had no bbq sauce to put on my chicken. I will comeback cuz the chicken was, ohhh so lovely :) check em out and stop being a biznatch. They also had Hawaiian drinks,!deserts, and cookies but i was full with the mini bbq plate. Hope u experience the same as i did.

Fantastic service! Today I came in to order a chicken katsu mini, but I couldn’t decide with whether I wanted the gravy, curry, or regular sauce on the side. My server was kind enough to offer me a selection of all three sauces to try and sample. I really appreciated the offer because now I can try all three and leave a tasty review.
The regular katsu sauce is just right, not too sweet or tangy. It goes really well with the katsu. ⁵⁄₅
The curry isn’t strong in flavor which I prefer and is comparable to Japanese style curry. ⁴⁄₅
The gravy is nice. Not like a mashed potato gravy but its unique and has hints of chicken flavor. ⁴⁄₅

The menu didn’t really look appetizing. The recommendation made for a first timer was Loco Moco. LOL! In Spanish it means «Crazy Snot». It’s a hamburger patty topped with fried eggs. I don’t think so for dinner. I ordered the ribs, which were thinly sliced and marinated in teriyaki sauce and a salad. Salad was dull looking and not appetizing. The ribs were really salty and tough. The place was hopping with customers eating in and quite a few call-​in pick up orders. Overall, menu, in my opinion, was not appealing. The live music made up for the lackluster meal.

Love L&L. This one is real good too. I always get the half and half olatter with BBQ Short Ribs and Fried Shrimp, sooooo goood. But the BBQ mix plate is definitely a go as well, their bbq chicken is so good and tender. Get an order of manapua or lumpia as well, you will not regret it!

Perfect food for when I dont want to cook. Everything is super yummy, and they take phone orders. Staff is kind, and know whats on their menu.

I’d like to start off with, I love this food and most locations are great. And this one was awesome when I first moved in 3 months ago. But the past couple visits it’s gone downhill somehow. Having gone to L&L quite a bit, I understand that the wait is usually more than your typical fast food place. But when there is almost no line and your friend that ordered AFTER you gets their food within 10 minutes and then I wait almost 30 minutes? And my friends food came out before even the two women that ordered in front of me. That seems a little excessive. I guess next time I shouldn’t bother to change the sides, because that must be too difficult. I don’t think I’ll be going to this location again

I like L&L

I stopped in after the lunch rush and it was the right call. It had been a while since I satisfied my Katsu chicken fix!
Still with only six customers the order to table time took about eight minutes. But oh boy what a wait that was worth it. Not much need here to go into details here other than the basic rice and salad were comforting.
Overall this place is perfect for lunch and the interior is clean with friendly staff!

Food: pretty good. I have been to this location at least 5 – 10 times for to go only… I usually get different BBQ plates which turn out well. The meat is moist and flavorful, macaroni is much better than store bought. Good portions for the already decent price-​you will be full! The katsu chicken was interesting… very dry and not much flavor.
The service is aweful; unfriendly young girls who chat with each other and play on their phones RIGHT in front of customers. This has been consistent for a while no matter who’s working. Poor management?
I would dine in if service were better…

One of the best L&L I been to :) Workers here are very friendly and the place is very clean with lots of indoor and outdoor seating! It’s near my house and it’s a good place for lunch with friends. My favorite is the chicken katsu :) Love the macaroni salad! The service is quick. Prices are reasonable and big portions :) Parking can be a bit of a struggle since it’s shared with all the nearby stores, but you’ll just have to walk a little bit!

It’s been awhile since I’ve been here. It was really good this time. We ordered the udon, mix plate, Chicken Katsu and Saimin. it was all good.

A great go-​to spot for a healthy meal, my BBQ chicken plate came amply loaded with protein and a large side of greens. Prices are reasonable too. No complaints whatsoever.

I’ve been to this L&L on several occasions as it is the only Hawaiian BBQ place in the pocket area. Their food is consistently good and their service is consistently bad. I’ve heard that the manager only hires young female workers to work the cash register (which I’ve noticed is true). They’re always talking to each other and their visiting friends, not really doing much. They’re not very friendly either.
My boyfriend, my sister, and I decided to dine here on a Tuesday night as we thought it’d be quick and easy. Well, we were wrong.
My boyfriend ordered the chicken katsu mini meal and I ordered the special ahi poke and a side of rice (the poke doesn’t come with any). My sister ordered the spam saimen.
We sat outside because my sister had her dog with her. Shortly after, the cashier came out and informed me that they were out of poke and she refunded the poke and rice back to my card. I went in to decide what I wanted to order instead and had to wait in line again. I decided on spam udon, another special. If they were out of poke, the special sign should be taken down immediately as to not cause confusion.
My sister’s saimen was brought out first. About 10 minutes later my boyfriend’s food came out. The cashier asked if we were waiting for more food, and I said I ordered an udon. I was sure my food would come out soon since it was just udon, but 20 minutes later my boyfriend and sister were nearly finished with their meals.
My boyfriend went in to check on my order and was informed THE ORDER NEVER WENT THROUGH. If you already ran out for my first order, wouldn’t you at least check to see that my second order was correct? Ugh. And I even told the girl that I was waiting for my udon.
This was my first time ordering their udon. The spam made the broth a little saltier than I would have preferred. If I order it in the future I’ll just get it plain. It was a little overpriced as well.
My usual favorites are the mix bbq plate or chicken katsu.
L&L’s food quality is pretty consistent, but their service sure needs work. It’s not like they’re a new establishment, so maybe the manager needs to train the workers better.
I would highly suggest calling in your order as they’re usually slow as well.
I would give it 2.5 stars, but rounded down for bad service.

Okay, I’ve been to 6 L&L locations in the Sacramento area and this has to be the cleanest feeling and most «professional». You can kinda see the kitchen and it’s well lit and very stainless steel. Looks clean in the kitchen. They were so busy that they had two girls working the registers and getting the orders out. So glad I happen to be in the area to see this mothership of a Sacramento L&L!

We eat here on a somewhat regular basis with somewhat mixed results. The healthy garlic shrimp is usually pretty decent. My boyfriend always orders the Chicken Katsu. Sometimes he loves it but sometimes it is great. It just isn’t consistent.
My big issue is that they basically close early. They turn off the grill so if you come within the last 15 minutes or so, you can only order deep fried food. I absolutely hate that… so much so that I am sitting here waiting for my order of Katsu and then I’m going to Jimboys for myself. While I’ve sitting here waiting, two other people have come in and walked out because of the grill situation. If you want to go home at 9:30 then just close at 9:15 and save us all the trouble.

Their healthy menu is delicious. I got the garlic fish with brown rice and gigantic side salad and am thoroughly satisfied with it. The sauce is pretty good too. The interior is clean and it’s a great place for a study group. Service was pleasant and quick.
