Never coming back again. We left after 20 minutes and not taking our order. People came in after us and got their order taken but we did not. Horrible service. No acknowledgement. It’s unfortunate because we’ve eaten there before and had decent service and good food. Just because they have a full restaurant doesn’t mean they can ignore service. That just shows they don’t know how to handle a full restaurant with a full staff. Very disappointing.

The food is generally fire but the service is so terrible. I swear we never get banchan until our main dishes are ready and we have to ask 3 times to get an OB. That bulgogi though…

This is my new favorite place for Korean food in South Sac. The portions are generous, the sides are amazing and the menu is large. The food came out fairly quickly in my opinion depending how impatient you are. I counted at least ten sides with our dinner. We ordered the seafood pancake, BBQ Pork, BBQ Chicken and the Bibimbob. All the entrees came out sizzling hot to your table. If you order the Korean Fried Chicken with the sauce I would recommend having the sauce on the side. I wish they had pictures of the dishes on the menu and the place can be a stuffy inside. I’ll have to come back and try their tofu soups when the weather get cooler. Too hot for me in the summertime.

Went here for a birthday dinner with my friends. Food was delicious and services was okay. The Space inside is a little crowded and parking lot is horrible! We used to go to the yd house in folsom but since they have one in sacramento now, its better than anything!

Their service has improved…200%. Stop reviewing this restaurant based on service. I kept reading how people didn’t like their service. I went there couple days ago and the servers dropped by to ask us how we were doing and if we needed anything soooo many times it would be super annoying to me if I didn’t read all the negative comments about their bad services. They made an effort to change their service. So stop the negative comments about their services. Now let’s talk about their food. I am really impressed with their small dishes in terms of quantity and taste. Two thumbs up. Really good. The kimchi and noodle is good. They even have soft shell crab. We have seven people in our group and we all ordered different main dishes. Everyone else’ main dish looked really good to me and they all liked it and said they would come back again. For me, I ordered my favorite, the seafood tofu soup. I was a little bit disappointed because it was so bland. The tofu soup is a two star for me. Sad!!!:( Dear owner, if you are reading this, Please! Please! Add more seasoning to your tofu soup. It needs to be more acidic and a little bit more salty. And one more thing, why did the restaurant smell soooo disgusting. It must be a one time thing. Please eliminate the horrific smell. All in all, I still like this restaurant because there are no other good Korean restaurants around this area. The better ones are all near Folsom Blvd.

I came here 2 days ago with a few friends because we wanted to eat Korean food. I have to say I was very happy about the place. I got the tofu soup and it was okay, but the side dishes were awesome! There were plenty of different sides and the customer service was great. They were very attentive from the moment we walked in to when we left. I’ll definitely be coming back.

Well, they suck. Stay away. If you want good Korean food with good service this isn’t your spot. I lived in Korea, I know good Korean food, this is sub par. You’d think they’d at least offer good service, nope! The waitress was so rude to my wife and I. I don’t know if it’s because we’re lesbians(I doubt she could tell), or that it’s because we’re two women, or that we were the only white people in there but she was horribly rude to us, hardly muttered two words, we had to get up and get our own to go boxes and ask for our check when she was bringing g those things to everyone around us who got there after us. I’m disgusted by the lack of service or kindness in general and I will NEVER be back. What a terrible experience. Stay away.

This place is awesome. I’m full Korean, I know my food. They give so much side dishes and most of all their kimchi is awesome. I would give 5 stars for the food But 3 stars for workers, reason is that young female workers(they are Korean but they don’t know their own food) don’t understand Korean and don’t know the name. They just make things up. Poor proper training. So The older Korean waitress helped me out. They also checked if it was good. I give more bcuz of that young workers.

It’s hard to find parking specially during lunc/dinner time, but there are parking spaces behind the building. Service was good. This was the first time we’ve tried this place and we’re not sure what to order, and the server was very patient with us. We ordered the spicy chicken, bulgogi, some seafood soup, rice noodles with beef, and some other stuff. First they brought in a number of appetizers, and it didn’t take long before our main dishes followed. I’d say the food were very tasty and easy dish has its own unique flavor. I did find the soup was a little on the salty side, well, not just a little. But overall, the food was good, with that, I’d give this place a 4 just because the soup needs a little work.

Gave this YD Tofu House a shot even though I don’t really care for the original location on Folsom Blvd. Truth is, the location is just wayyyyyy closer than all the other Korean restaurants out in Folsom Blvd(my favorite included.) I came hoping to really like this place so I could get my Korean food fix a lot closer to home. Bibimbap is okay. Meat portion in it is small which bothers me a bit. Flavor is good though. The Galbi is really good here though if you want to splurge a bit! Soup was also satisfactory. Good but not the best. Huge amount of side dishes which is a plus for many people. I kind of see it as quantity over quality though. I only reached for maybe a couple of dishes and felt bad for wasting so much. Service was slow but not even close to how bad the service I got at YD House before(for dinner. lunch service is wonderful there!) Overall YD Tofu is decent. I would for sure come here over YD House any day. I would come back if I was craving Korean food and didn’t want to drive that far or people wanted to eat here. Honestly though, I’ll probably just drive the extra 10⁄15 minutes to get food I really like next time.

I went to this restaurant last Saturday evening & it was crazy busy! the lady that took my order was so patient and nice even through the chaos. she seemed to be the only lady taking orders and she seemed so busy but she was so nice & recommended a lot of good stuff. she recommended the bibimbamp & galbi & seafood pancakes. they were delicious & I appreciated her customer service. definitely will be coming back. Restaurant update: DONOTGOONSUNDAYS There’s this kind of tall waitress there and she’s there on Sunday’s I’m guessing because she was there the last two Sunday’s I went to eat. I didn’t see the short little Asian lady I love. the tall waitress has slow service, she refused to give us side dishes twice, when it’s supposed to be free and they’re supposed to refill it for you. I asked multiple times but she just didn’t want to give us any I guess. I’ve never felt so disrespected. I’m never going here again because of her and it’s too bad because when I came when they first opened, I loved their service. I don’t know what happened to the nice Asian lady but bring her back!

I was a fan from its original location on Folsom Blvd. I was excited to have one that is close to Elk Grove. Although, I heard my friend said they were very slow and busy during their opening period. I decided to check it out myself last night. The place is very clean and nice. When I arrived around 6:30pm, there were plenty of seating available. My family and I(4 adults) were kind of hungry, so we ordered 2 orders of beef short ribs, 1 order of thin rib-eye, and 3 seafood tofu soups. While I was considering should I try their seafood pancake, the waitress was kindly told me that I have enough food. The food came fairly quick like 10 min or less after we placed our order. We were stuffed with the big portion of the dishes! I will go back to try other dishes next time. The only disadvantage of this location is the parking. That is why I gave 4 stars. Although, they have parking spaces in the back of the restaurant, but it was too dark to walk at night because there is no lighting in that area.

So happy to have this 2nd location closer to home! My friends and I are huge fans of the original location so of course we had to try this sister out. Location use to be a(recently opened and closed) Vietnamese place so nice, clean and modern! Much more spacious than Folsom Blvd location. Same ladies working here too! Ordered the kimchi tofu soup and seafood pancake as a tester. It’s a Tuesday night and it was packed! You still get like 15 banchans and this time there was a new pickle dish that we felt excited about lol! Tofu soup tastes good but maybe a little more watery/bland than other location… and I’m not just saying that. Lacking of seasoning not just the spicy level. Could just be making a larger batch to last the crowd which is why seemed more watered down??? Seafood pancake was on point though! Nice chunks of seafood and green onions and perfectly crisp! Over all I would come back! Happy to have Korean place closer to downtown! :-)

Food was not as good as the original YD House on Folsom, although their banchans are just as generous. Interior is much more spacious and clean. They even house a big sized room, which I think are for reservations or party sizes. There’s 3 TVs inside playing live Kpop music shows showcasing various bands which help to add a more hip atmosphere to the traditional-style dining environment. Service is better than the original YD House, but still not great. They only filled our hot tea once(toward the end) and never came by to offer refilling banchans. Also, parking is pretty bad. This place does help to give more diverse food options in the area, but it doesn’t blow me away. The biggest thing I would suggest is that they work on perfecting their Galbi dish, which tasted sorely bland. :(However, their kimchi jigae was pretty good… but I probably won’t come back because there are other Korean restaurants nearby that are better. If you’re looking to try this place out, I’d say do so and see for yourself how you feel about it, but don’t expect too much though.

This location must have opened not too long ago. I stumbled upon it by accident because I was here to get Vietnamese food at Phở Garden but was confused when I couldn’t find their sign in front. Since my friends and I were already in that plaza, we decided to give YD Tofu House a try. I’ve had YD House at the Folsom Blvd location and enjoyed the food there so I was hoping to find a similar experience here. Upon entering, the waitresses greeted us and one of them had us sit where we felt comfortable. She immediately placed bowls and a scissor in front of us then got our drinks. I was curious what the scissor was to be used for but that was shortly answered when the waitress came back out with a bunch of side dishes. She used the scissor to cup the kimchi into smaller pieces for easier consumption. I love how she recognized side dishes that quickly ran low and went to fetch more at no additional cost! My friends and I all ordered from the bibimbap selection. I was hoping they’d get something different from me so that I could try the other items. but I guess I’ll have to come back again. Since I got the vegetable bibimbap, my dish came in a bowl with a separate rice bowl. My friend’s bibimbap came in a sizzling platter with an egg on top of their rice. The spicy sauced used to mix and flavor the bowl was great. I didn’t have to squirt too much of it to get the flavors running. Portion size of the food is great for the buck. I had plenty to eat to be full and had leftovers to feed me the next day too. Service for me was great, I enjoyed how hard working the ladies here are. They are always cheerful as well. They constantly greeted new customers and said goodbyes to those who finished eating. The interior of the restaurant had less plants this time. The walls wasn’t as bare as when it was with Phở Garden. They filled up the empty space with a lot of pictures of the dishes. I noticed that the TVs were all off though. Perhaps they only turn it on upon request. I am satisfied with my first visit and can’t wait to eat here again. I must admit. the food and service here was better than what Phở Garden offered.

I am a fan — But… A few buts… Service is not so good, but it may have been due to the fact that they are new and understaffed. They don’t really check up on you too often and food takes a bit — So I wouldn’t recommend if you’re in a hurry. The pluses — I feel like they had a decent amount of banchan(accouterments AKA those little dishes of different stuff they give you) and most of them are good. The Korean fried chicken with the special sauce is good, and it didn’t take nearly as long as they said it would. Bulgogi was solid but I think could have used a bit more flavoring. I think this place is solid and I think given time they can get better. Definitely would come back for another try.

YASS. Thank you YD for opening a sister YD House in South Sacramento! No longer will I have to travel to Folsom Blvd. to get my Korean fix. One of the best reasons why YD House ranks high on my favorite Korean spots in Sac is because they give you so many banchan dishes! They bring you at least over 10 different sides dishes = kim chi, steamed/marinated vegetables, dishes with chili pepper paste, fermented items, little seafood sides, etc, yum. One of my favorite dishes is the spicy squid with vegetables!(That is not the official name… but I can’t remember how/what exactly it’s called). I get it almost every time I visit YD. It’s perfectly spiced and so delicious! Another items that I enjoy is their fried chicken with spicy sauce. Basically, anything saucy and spicy gets a thumbs up from me. Their bibambap and tofu soups are good, but average. A lot of people on Unilocal were hating on their service, but the night I went, service was above and beyond. Our waitress came by multiple times to re-fill our water and ask if we needed anything else. My friend accidentally knocked her water down, and the ladies(and man) were so gracious and peppy in cleaning up. But honestly, patrons just should be more patient and give these OG Korean ladies a break; it seems since their opening, their service definitely has improved from earlier comments! Parking is tricky. YD is located right on Freeport with a couple spots in front and a small parking lot in the back. I would assume some customers might have to park at the Rite Aid lot since the Chinese restaurant in the back gets pretty busy too. So, OG Korean ladies, you keep doing you. Thank you for finally bringing Korean food to this part of Sacramento. Unilocalers, come here if you love banchan and spicy, hearty Korean food!

My first time at this place was on a Saturday around 2pm. Service: unpredictable. 3 stars I come in with my niece and was promptly greeted and seated right away. She asked for our drink order, we got that right away. Wonderful service until… Right after our server then went MIA for quite awhile. The restaurant is now less than half full. At this time a couple of the other tables of customers walked in and one of those tables placed their order. A waitress was going to take the order of the other table which happened to be right behind me. I interrupted her and told her we were ready to order. She told me I would have to wait until they she took their order. I told her we were there over 15 minutes before them. Only when the customers told her to help me did she come over. She says to me that she had to take their order because he was a man, and said«you know how that is». I told her«no I don’t understand that because I don’t think that way». Plus she asked me «why the hurry, do you have some place to go?» Good grief… so do all the all female tables get serviced later, apparently our time and money is less important than a man?!? She’s a very sweet cheerful woman but has an old fashion view on life. Our original server comes back twice-to take our order and drop off the check. But checks in multiple times on the table next to me. She ignored our table. What gives!?! Tables are so close together you can hear the conversations of your neighbors. Don’t expect privacy. They also have multiple hanging TVs that streams Korean pop music videos(no volume). My tween niece enjoyed that. Food: 4 stars We were given ~15 little appetizer dishes. The spice level varies with those so proceed with caution. The entrees were large enough for 2 people to share. We ordered grilled mackerel $ 14 and pork don katsu $ 13. Each entrée came with an individual bowl of rice and miso soup. I was given 3 large mackerel lightly fried not actually grilled. The pork plate came with 2 cutlets and a green salad. The sauce and dressing were served over the food. Overall the flavors were good. The food ingredients tasted fresh. Parking & Restaurant Location: The restaurant is in an old strip mall with limited parking. Be prepared to park around the block. Overall, I am not willing to come back anytime soon. Weird selective service protocol. Lack of customer service. Parking sucks. The food is just ok. Plus I’m not a fan of having the supply of chopsticks and spoons already on the table. I view that as unsanitary, who the heck has touched all those before me.

I rather like this little restaurant! While I was bummed the former Phở place was gone, I wanted to try this place out immediately. Having been to very few Korean places, I knew what to expect but it had been a few months. We walked in and the décor was minimally changed from before, however it has a clean modern look that translates well. We were greeted immediately and seated within one minute of walking through the door. The menu is quite extensive, and let’s be real, I did not know what some of the items were. When out server came over, she found someone to answer my questions about ingredients and what certain plates included. Yes, I can be pesky that way! We ended up ordering the kimchi pancake, beef stew with rice and a chicken soup made with an amazing bone broth. Everything was hot, delicious and made to order. We received out food in a timely manner, and I honestly had no issues with slow service, even though the place was 2⁄3 filled. Let’s talk banchan. We were served 16 small dishes of everything from varieties of pickled veggies, kimchi, noodles, fish, seaweed, and on and on. I was impressed! For our small table we were treated like royalty! I asked for a little more of a seaweed noodle dish, and the server sent me home with a portion to eat later. What a sweetheart! This is a good little place with fresh food, good service and a plethora of new items for me to try. We have already been back and will continue to eat at this great little neighborhood joint.

Very cool place to eat in South Sacramento. New restaurant that is near the excutive airport. Dinner prices are reasonable and the food is tasty and good portions Check out some of the pictures posted. You may want to go to try it out at least once. I believe that it is the first Korean restaurant I’ve seen on Freeport Ave nearby South Land Park and Greenhaven . Did I mentioned, Korean Bbq and tofu..

I finally had a chance to visit the YD. A friend told me to go early to avoid the crowds and long wait for food, so we arrived at 5 and there was only one other table there. It was a bit surreal, since it felt like I was sitting in Phở Garden, but it was a dream and someone had added streaming k-pop and the smokey smell of fish. We ordered fairly quickly and had our food in about 5 minutes! The ladies there are really nice and service was good, so all these one star reviews because of slow service should be taken with a grain of salt.(All you one-star complainers: for a new restaurant, you have to give them a little bit of slack!!) Speaking of salt, I ordered the tofu soup medium spicy and it came pretty bland and not spicy at all, so i was a bit disappointed. The bulgogi was pretty solid and the meat was tender. The banchan was plentiful and somewhat overwhelming but the flavors were a bit underwhelming. Prices are normal for Korean food, about $ 60 for a family of 4. I do appreciate the closeness of decent Korean food nearby, but the flavors didn’t really knock my socks off, so a 3 star rating will have to do for now.

I’m a regular that always goes to the YD House on Folsom. The YD house on Folsom has never disappointed me. They always made me a happy returning customer. However, this location opened up and it was way closer to my house so I decided to try it out. First few times i went, it was okay. However, couple weeks ago I invited a couple friends from Los Angeles and decided to take them here for lunch. Before we even ordered, I asked the waitress if we could split our bill. She was very sweet and told us that she could do that for us. However, as we were eating, a different waitress started to help us out. I asked the lady for an extra plate. She forgot about it the first time I asked so I asked her again and she brought me one after helping the customers that were sitting at the table beside us. She brought a plate over and gave me a plate that was dirty and had left over scrapes on it!!! It was so gross because it was probably from the table that she helped before us. I let her know and all she did was switch the plates without even apologizing. When we asked for the check, they did not split it. My friends and I didn’t want to inconvenience anyone so we just put our cards down and asked them to just split it equally into 4. The lady took our bill and then told us that the credit card machine«BROKE» today so she won’t be able to take more than 1 card.(DOESTHISEVENMAKESENSE?! IFYOU’RECREDITCARDMACHINEISDOWN, THENHOWCANYOUEVENSWIPEONECREDITCARD) It was unbelievably ridiculous and dumb. They were so much better off telling us that they could only take cash. Will not be a returning customer again.

I came here on Friday for lunch with my dad. The place was definitely busy, and people kept coming in. We were told we could sit anywhere we wanted once we entered. So we sat down. The menus are also like the plate holders. They are paper menus, and you just ordered off of it. They were prompt with getting our drinks, we kept it simple to ice water. We had to flag them down to ask to order our dishes — kimchi, pork stew and seafood pancake. After ordering food, service seem nonexistent. It took forever for our side dishes to come out. I wanted refills on some side dishes but they are so busy and understaffed, they don’t have time to deal with you(at least, that’s my opinion). It’s only one waitress and another one that helps out. They definitely need more wait staff but I doubt they’ll get more. I think the food was okay. I think the pork in my kimchi stew was a little too chewy, and it tasted a little funny. I found the seafood pancake a little too salty to my liking but it was still good. The food is mediocre. If I ever crave Korean food, I’ll probably come here again since it’s close by but service is pretty much nonexistent. Parking can be a pain, there’s almost no parking in the little lot. You’ll have to park in adjacent lots or across the street. I was actually a fan of the previous place here, the phở place, so I am little curious how long this place will last. It seems to be more popular than the phở place. I guess the people in this community is excited to try Korean food.

Like most people that wrote a Unilocal review for YD house on Freeport Blvd — are happy to finally see a Korean restaurant in the area. We came here last week to check out the new location. Pros: Location, nicely remodeled, clean, quantity size dishes. Cons: lack of service, smoggy inside, dinner prices, quality of the side dishes, mediocre food. We ordered the rice cake and it wasn’t cooked all the way. For real? The bathroom is still creepy, rumors it’s haunted. Won’t be returning, will drive to Rancho Cordova for better Korean food any day. So disappointed.

I arrived here around 1pm on a Monday which happened to fall on Martin Luther King Day! It wasn’t that busy or packed and we were seated quickly. The menu was pretty self explanatory, it had Korean and English translations. When I first walked in, it was really stuffy and humid inside. I guess that explains why the door was propped open. I looked over the menu and couldn’t decide what I wanted. We were given the choice of having water or hot tea and I opted for hot water. Everything they serve are in plastic cups or plastic plates~ we weren’t sure who to wave down when we were ready to order. We waited patiently and saw another couple get seated and saw how they waved down a server to order and we did the same. However, when I was trying to order, the lady told me that they do not have the lunch special today because it was a holiday… So I had to opt for the dinner sizing. But no where on the menu says lunch specials not valid on holidays. Anyway, my brother ordered the spicy pork and my uncle ordered the belt fish. However, I was having a hard time choosing what I wanted and the waitress rushed me and suggested random(expensive dishes) that I was allergic to because they had beef in it. I told her I was allergic to the dish and asked if they could substitute pork or chicken instead. She said that they were unable to do that, which is understandable because they may be marinated a different way. She tried to rush me and said she will be back and left the table. I decided to just share the two dishes that my uncle and brother ordered because we all were not too hungry. While we waited for our food, I realized how the waitresses told this pregnant lady to get up and out of her seat at least 3 – 5 times throughout her meal because they couldn’t get those little carts to get pass. I recommend that they change the layout of their seating if they are going to keep pestering customers to get up and out of their seat. I felt so bad for that lady because it seemed like she was having a backache and she probably felt really bad about not being able to just scoot her seat in. The waitresses were pretty rude in that sense. They didn’t seem too apologetic about it either and just said excuse me. Before receiving the food, the various side dishes came out and we started pigging out. I loved the sweet tofu dish, squid, and the potato dish with teriyaki sauce! The other dishes, I didn’t care too much for them. When we finally got the spicy pork, the two bowls of rice came along. The spicy pork wasn’t that flavorful and didn’t have too much spicyness in the dish, but it wasn’t bad. Next, the belt fish came out and it just looked really sad because it looks really empty. It look like it was fried and a piece of lemon was sliced on the side and that’s it. The presentation of the dish could have been better by having a smaller plate or something because it just looked like a sad dish… Lol… Before we were done with our meal, the waitresses brought us the check which came up to $ 33 which isn’t too bad for three people. We placed the money down and the waitress didn’t come and get the money so I had to go up there and wait for them to be done with whatever they were doing before they even helped me. I waited for a good 2 minutes standing at the counter waiting to pay for my meal. When I went to use the restroom to wash my hands after my meal, I noticed a little private room area so people can probably RSVP a room which could be pretty cool. There is only one restroom for males and one restroom for females. Overall, the experience of this restaurant was not the best and they should change the seating arrangement of their restaurant and the workers should be a little more friendly and less pushy.

This Korean restaurant is located in a strip mall where parking literally sucks. So my husband parked in back of the building. If you come be sure to carpool bc parking is virtually nil. We came on the MLK holiday and I was not thinking ahead. We came right in the midst of lunch time but the entire restaurant was packed with Asian customers like it was the weekend!!! We were seated right away but our service was not great bc they were extremely extremely BUSY!!! After awhile we finally got an order in but bc it was a holiday they treated our two entrees like it was dinner so prices were almost double! We were lucky to get tea or water but didn’t expect any refills bc they were so busy. Normally this is not the norm! Our banchans or Korean side dishes did come first but not until after sitting there for at least twenty-five minutes after ordering. Even our neighbors were good enough to speak up and say that we didn’t get any food! We did finally receive at least fifteen side dishes. My favorite ones were the japchae, bean sprouts, cole slaw and fish. I didn’t want to fill up on them as we ordered three main dishes already! We received our Galbi which was beef short ribs with the bone-in grilled with Korean BBQ sauce within five minutes of getting our banchans. That was basically our favorite entrée that I probably should have not bothered to order anything else! Former coworkers of mine just so happened to be there that we chatted with them while we were there. We had ordered the tobiko dolsot bibimbob which was vegetables with beef & tobiko over rice in sizzling stone pot. That appeared after the galbi and then the waitress brought us a second one!!! We had to catch the waitress before she literally disappeared as I didn’t want to be responsible for paying for a second same entrée!!! Luckily our friends were able to catch her before she went too far. Our own waitress came back to confirm our third entrée which had not appeared until after being there for fifty minutes. The hot steamy bulgogi which is a boneless ribeye with Korean BBQ sauce was okay but it wasn’t as flavorful as the galbi! Plus the bibimbob was just average too. Luckily there were styrofoam containers to go right in the front table that we picked them up and packed our leftovers to go. I had an extra one that I handed it over to our kind neighbors who were there just prior to us! The one gal had an extra plastic bag that we took to bag up our containers. I just ordered way too much food! I would love to go back but not on the weekend!!! Hopefully if we do go back we will go on a different day around late lunch. Maybe then I can update my review and give them an extra star for better service. Also this restaurant gets super toasty so don’t dress too warm. You will definitely cook! You will note that they are hiring! They definitely could use the help and give better service. I know their service literally sucked!

Great Korean food in South Land Park! I’ve been anticipating the arrival of YD House on Freeport because I was a fan of their original location in East Sacramento. It’s been one week since their grand opening and I read some previous reviews about bad service, etc, but my experience was nothing bad at all. I came on a Friday for a late lunch, was greeted and seated right away, and was brought hot tea(and water upon request) immediately. The waitresses were quick to take my order and the food came out quickly as well. I ordered the galbi(beef short ribs)($ 11.99) and the vegetable soon du bu(tofu soup)($ 10.99). The galbi came out on a sizzling plate with plenty of grilled onions. The meat was tender, flavorful, and very nicely caramelized. The vegetable soon du bu was also quite tasty and really not too spicy(ordered mild). The tofu soup came with a raw egg that you crack and add to the soup while it’s still boiling hot. All the food looked, smelled, and tasted delicious. I would definitely order these two again. I was very excited for the banchan(small side dishes). There were 15 side dishes and they were a great addition to the meal! Some of my favorites were the kimchi, japchae, and all green veggies(broccoli, cucumbers, and spinach). The service was pretty good. All of the ladies that worked there helped to serve us. The waitresses checked on us and asked if we needed anything. She offered us an extra bowl of rice and brought extra tea upon request for refill. From the outside, this place does not look like much, but inside, the restaurant décor is new and nicely designed. They’ve only been open one week so everything is clean, including their nice, spacious bathroom. There is plenty of small table seating, but also larger and more private tables in the back. Parking in the front is limited, but there is additional parking in the rear(so the sign says). It must have been our lucky day because it was not crowded and we found a parking spot right in front of the restaurant! I had a great first experience at the new YD House! The food tasted great and the service was pretty good. I wouldn’t say this was the best Korean food I’ve ever had or that the food was exploding with flavors, but it was definitely above average. Also, it is the ONLY authentic Korean restaurant on this side of town(so it also wins by default). YD House is a great addition to the Land Park area and I am looking forward to eating here again.

I drove by this place a couple weeks ago and was excited because there aren’t any traditional Korean restaurants near me. My boyfriend, sister, brother in law, and I decided to dine here for dinner three days after their grand opening. One review mentioned slow service, so we decided to come here on Sunday evening around 5pm instead of 6. Good thing we did! The parking lot was already packed. I hate the design of this lot as it is one way and narrow. You might be better off parking on the street, but be careful because Freeport is very busy. My sister and her husband arrived first and we saw them along with a group of people standing outside. Turns out the front door was locked. Isn’t that against fire codes? They were eventually let in and we sat at their table in the room on the left. The first thing we all noticed was how warm it was inside. Sure, it was cold outside and we appreciated that we weren’t shivering, but it was too warm to be comfortable. The restaurant was also full so that was generating more heat. I had to take off my jacket and would’ve taken off my hat except my hair was a mess. They need better ventilation. When we decided what to order, it was difficult to wave down a person to take our order. From what it looks like, there are three women working the front of the house. One somewhat refills your drink, one brings out food, and one takes your order. WHATKINDOFINEFFICIENTSYSTEMISTHAT? We told a worker we were ready to order and she said«ok, I’ll tell the lady.» UH… We finally got«the lady» to our table and were ready to order. We wanted to try the«Yangnyum Chicken» which is a «deep fried chicken with special house sauce,» but the lady told us «it takes a long time.» Uh… well how long is a long time? «45 minutes or an hour.» Uhh unless they’re catching the chicken and killing it out back, I don’t know why deep fried chicken would take THAT long. Uh okay… we weren’t with her suggestion and got a bbq chicken with korean sauce instead… We also ordered bulgogi, soon dobu soup with pork, and dduboki. We waited about 30 minutes and were getting hungrier and more annoyed. We finished our water and even after telling 3 workers we needed refills, we were still waiting. When the«Water Girl» came, she barely refilled our glasses. WOWTHANKSFORTHETWOSIPS! Why are you stingy with water? My sister and her husband had hot tea, but BECAREFUL it’s extremely hot! She had to scoop some of my ice and put it in her tea to make it drinkable. When they finally did come to refill their tea, it was in a PLASTIC pitcher(like one used for water). Um… over time that plastic will MELT and BREAK — spilling hot tea all over the floor/customer/worker. Also — won’t the plastic melt away into people’s tea that they’re going to drink? *cancer*… Eventually we were brought our side dishes aka«banchan.» I was excited to eat here because I saw from Unilocal photos that they have 15 different kinds! Our favorites were the potatoes, bean sprouts, coleslaw, broccoli, spinach, japchae, and kimchi. I don’t even normally like kimchi, but theirs was really good! Now, Korean places typically give you refills of these side dishes, but we were never offered any. When we tried to ask«the lady» she literally HEARDUSTALKINGTOHERANDWALKEDAWAY. WHATKINDOFSERVICEISTHAT? I mean, I know asian restaurants aren’t typically known for their happy servers or willingness to accommodate to customers, but the workers here are just rude and incompetent. The bulgogi and chicken were alright — nothing too memorable. The meat was kinda dry and needed more sauce. It was on a bed of onions, so it seemed like there was more onion than actual meat. Their portions are smaller than other kbbq places I’ve been to. The soon dobu soup was below average. We asked for mild knowing korean food is usually spicy, but theirs was so bland and watery. It also wasn’t served with the typical raw egg that you crack inside. Ugh lame. The ddukboki was pretty good, spicier than the soup(thank god). It had sliced fish cake and two dumplings too. We were there for about an hour and a half, which was a long time. Other tables were there just as long and looked just as impatient. When we got the check, my boyfriend asked the worker if they take American Express. She said, «I don’t know… I’ll try it.» Uhh shouldn’t workers know that? Then, of course, they didn’t — so he gave her a Visa. I feel like I’d be more understanding of their shortcomings if they actually were a new business, BUTTHEYHAVEANOTHERLOCATION. The owner should know how to run his business better and train his workers! They need ATLEAST three more workers for the front of the house… or at least ONE who is efficient. Geez. I wouldn’t be so annoyed with service if the food was AMAZING, but it wasn’t. I will not be returning soon unless I see that they get their service together.

Three stars based on the fact this is the only legitimate Korean restaurant in the area. If you are not Korean or of Korean descent or a Korean food afficianado you might give it 4 or 5 stars. Compared to Los Angeles or Seattle Korean restaurants it would be more like 2 stars. It is what it is. Sacramento dining. First of all we arrived around 12:30 pm and the place was all but full. Clean café feel and the smell of bulgogi/galbi wafted to us as we entered. The good was the : 1) Rice was white hot, sticky and good quality for short grain white rice. And served in traditional stainless steel bowls with a lid. 2) Galbi was fresh, well carmelized and not too sweet. Lunch portion was decent for the price compared to other Korean restaurants. 3) Bulgogi also well carmelized and not too sweet and bulgogi. Lunch portion was also decent for the price compared to other Korean restaurants. 4) Chapae banchan was excellent. Not as good as homemade but very close. 5) Kimchi was passable, it is a restaurant. But we make are own at home so our kimchi standards are high. So we accept that restaurant kimchi will never be as good as homemade kimchi. The could be better items: 1) No brown rice option. 2) No mixed rice option. 3) No lettuce to go with gabli for ssum. 4) No sesame seed oil. 5) No fermented soy bean paste, doenjang. 6) Soon dubu did not have the traditional egg in it. They brought an egg later but it was too late to put it in. 7) Water is in plastic cups. They have glass cups for water but they are only used when the plastic cups run out. 8) Hot barley tea is also in plastic cups, ughhhh. Plus tea was lukewarm. With all the asian restaurants in the area that offer ceramic cups for hot tea we are at a loss as to 1) why plastic and 2) why was the tea not hot? Its winter and its asian food, hot tea is a necessity. 9) Be prepared to ask for all the little things when you place your order, here are my suggestions especially if you order galbi and are accustomed to old school korean flavors: a) scissors to cut the galbi from the bone b) extra napkins c) no broccoli banchan d) no dried squid banchan, it tasted weird e) no mayo vege noodle banchan f) no shredded radish banchan the one with red pepper it tasted weird g) no plain napa cabbage banchan, also tasted weird h) ice water in glass i) glass cup of ice only, to make your own iced barley tea with the lukewarm tea. thereby avoiding the lukewarm, plastic cup, barley tea experience. j) extra chapchae if you feel you might need it k) extra rice if you feel you might need it l) extra kimchi if you feel you might need it m) a fork if you think you cant survive with just chopsticks and a spoon 10) Clearly state your order. Have the server repeat it back. Especially if it is busy. There was some confusion with our order. But the wait staff were very nice about it. 11) We had three in our party and the table we were seated at was way too small for our party and our food order. 12) The kimchi mandu lack good flavor and stuck to the steamer. In our opinion because shredded lettuce or cabbage was used to line the steamer instead of a whole or partial leaf. With that being said they were huge and generously stuffed. The above in our opinion are easy fixes. Now the bad and the ugly: 1) Parking, this area has a small finite number of parking spaces and so many businesses are competing for the those spaces. If one wants to bring a big group then consider carpooling or a shuttle/valet service, like a relative drops you off and picks you up. Or prepare to park some distance away and walk which would only be an option for lunch. You couldnt pay me to walk in this area after sunset because of the area, and the busy traffic. Just the other day a woman was trying to cross the street there and was almost hit. Right a the corner of where the restaurant is, Freeport and Fruitridge. Not safe. Will we be back? More than likely since it is the only korean restaurant in the area and no doubt we will be too lazy to drive to Rancho Cordova. :-)

Today Jan 7, 2016 is the first day of grand opening! I have been waiting for this second location to open since November. Rewind back to November 2015 on a rainy day as i was passing this place and saw that this was coming soon, so i was showered with joy while driving! Now fast forward 2 months later, as i was driving down Freeport i saw flashing«open» signs from the corner of my eye and here i made a sudden turn into the parking lot. Next thing i know is my nose was following the wonderful authentic korean bbq scent from the parking lot. When i first walked in i felt like i walked into a modern Korean pop restaurant. The décor and vibe inside is really new and modern. There is a lamp/spot light above each table, where it perfectly shines on the food making it the spot light of your table. There are lots of tables inside so thats a plus plus! The table i sit was right next to the tv and they were playing all k pop music videos. Then i catch myself popping brain storm bubbles left and right about how i can host a k pop bday party, which sounds like fun. But for reals its comfy enough to hold a small party, since they have private room in the back with 3 round tables that can fit 8 people comfortably. Next i ordered and just patiently wait until the food arrives. Food Before the main dish came — They give you a variety of small dishes with little spicy or non spicy dishes. These are known as banchans. Each little dish is spiced differently, some can be calm or spicy flavors in them. Most of the banchans consists of vegetables. Kimchi is always included in one of the 15 dishes. Some other ones they include are broccoli, bean sprout, spicy marinated crab, mushroom, non spicy version of kimchee, vermicelli rice noodle mixed with veggies, spicy pickled cucumber, fish cake tofu, calamari, spinach, and anchovies. I really just come here for these because this is a meal by itself including a side of steam rice. T1 — Seafood soon du bu — Seafood tofu spicy soup or you can request it non spicy. This is one of my favorite tofu soup they offer because it is filled with lots of ingredients and the soup is just on a cold day. It also comes with a side raw egg, and since the soup is served boiling hot, you break the raw egg inside and let if cook while its boiling hot. The egg cooks slowly in the hot boiling temperature soup and its soooo good because the egg is so tender. Some seafood they include are shrimp, octopus, mussel, scallop, and lots of tofu. This dish comes with a side of steam rice which is served in a stainless steel bowl and it keeps it super hot! Yummay! I will be back tomorrow for the lunch special korean bbq they serve. Some of my other favorites are Y3 the bibimbab. Or the Assorted seafood hot pot. As well with their Lunch special bbq chicken. Oh and kimchee mandu is one of my favorites because its huge and Flavorful! Korean Beer! yes yes they have some awesome korean ginseng soju and beer served here as well! Service It is an improvement they hired some younger korean girls who serve us because they seem more happy and better service than the first location. They can speak better english and we can understand them way better than the first location. Its there first day and they seem to manage every thing on time. I give them applaud for the first day of service. Overall I really love the location of this place because it is much closer to home. The drive is short and sweet and i can leave sooner with a happy tummy. The food is still the same as the first location which is a plus plus. Just one thing that’s a bummer is the parking. The parking lot is small and even though they have additional parking in the back of tug boat and fishes, it can be crowded. I am a fan of this place and i will be here more often then you know it! Dukedom here i come for you! Thanks for reading and happy Unilocaling! p. s. Look out for my uye, cuz my kpop bday smash is highly to be held here.
