Seemed promising at first, karaōke was going on and that was dummy entertaining. The food was terrible and over priced but I still wasn’t too mad. Then the check came and we got charged $ 2 each for water. Outta pocket. Won’t be going back.

Surprise! Your nachos come with a bonus quesadilla on top! The nachos were not the best I’ve had in my life but they hit the spot. Bonus for strong margaritas, fresh chips and awesome spicy salsa. The folx working there are also very nice. I would definitely go back.

Yuss more Mexican food. We heard of this place when we went to Caballo Blanco and they said they were one of the few places who had sopas. Sadly I did not try the sopas. I did try my usual taco burrito combo and it was definitely up to par. Caballo is the standard with which I compare all restaurants now and their tacos were eerily similar. Rick’s burrito is more heavy though. It’s a thicker tortilla and has more filling, as opposed to the type you could pick up and eat at Caballo. It’s also covered in cheese and sauce. I tried the tamale and it was pretty good too, average for a tamale. Oh yeah I forgot the chips. They’re not quite as good as Caballo but only because they’re made with corn and not flour. Otherwise they’re delicious. Solid four stars for quality but super cheap prices so they get a five. Gotta come back to try those sopas.

Never been so disrespected until I ate this crappy spot! I guess the night I went was Mexican karaōke night and we were the only non Mexicans eating there Right when we walked in the server gave us attitude They rushed us by bothering us every 5 mins to see if we were done Also the fat server there with blonde hair was a jackass. She gave me my debit card back after I paid for my meal and just stood there waiting for me to leave a tip. I use to work in a restaurant so most of my money was from tips but never ever had I STANDTHEREWAITINGFOR A CUSTOMERTOTIPANDSIGNTHERECEIPT! screw this restaurant! Staying the hell away from here

Very good food at reasonable price. Not the caliber of El Novillero up the street, but they’re more expensive also. I had the enchiladas and they are as good as any in town. I’ll definitely be back to try something else.

Back in the old days I’d give Rick’s five stars, but in recent years it seems to have gone downhill. The food is ok now, but not great. And the staff seem to be unhappy to be there

I’ve never been disappointed with Rick’s. I’ve been here more times than I can count and everything from the food to the service is just fantastic every time.

The service was terrible. The waitress seemed annoyed by us being there. The drinks were brought 30 minutes after we sat down. The food was good except the beans and rice.

The food is lacking, margaritas are still great though. If it’s not the lunch special the bill is pretty high. For a family of 4 plus a 18 month old, we spent 140 for dinner(that included a pitcher of margaritas)

Last night we whent out for dinner they have Karaōke every friday and saturday and is fun, people and the MC are very welcoming and friendly but let me tell you about dinner I had the Birria en Caldo(goat meat in their juices) with home made corn tortillas. The tortillas look more like gorditas recalentadas or like we say in Monterrey sobaqueadas they where not freshly made the taste rewormed and cold again so thick and hard that I only had half of one sooo nasty. Well the last time I will ever have any dinner or any meal there the prices were over inflated and the meals very small for the price my boyfriend had the carne asada plate as you can see on the pictures that I’m about to post you can see the very small size of meat and the caldo you won’t even be able to see any meat and that’s how it was no meat and only juice the ambiance to sing and have a good night is good you will have fun but dinner are over price for the amound that you pay and is ridiculous almost $ 15 per plate and not worth it. Sorry Rick’s Hacieda you do not get three stars from me I gave you another chance and did not proof me wrong… Never again but don’t get me wrong Karaōke is worth it and the alcohol price is a normal price as of any other bar. But dinner is a big No, No!!! Now let me tell you about the service the place was so pack with only 3 waiters they are nice don’t get me wrong but three really people what kind of service you can get well just imagine we where there one hour before they took our order it seem they are more worry about serving beer than dinner any ways like I say I love this place but not for dinner on a friday night or any day very disappointed..

So Ricks has been in the neighborhood forever. They have all the traditionals like Chile Colorado, Chile Verde — no menudo or pozole — but a lot of others. We went for my moms bday and I gotta say how poor the service has become. The waitress pretty much ignored our party’s request for additional chips and salsa, never refilled our waters and our order of nachos all but disappeared from memory. The only saving grace was the managers understanding of us wanting to cancel our order and well… the overpriced margaritas.

I’ve been to this spot a handful of times. Portions have changed and not for the better. Service was poor. Server appeared bothered when we asked for more chips n salsa. We had to hunt her down to refill our drinks and reminded her I ordered a soda. It came 6 minutes into eating my meal. Food was tasty. Good flavor but over experience was below standard.

The best beans in Sacramento! That being said they have made a few changes since the last time I was there. All for the better, new updated menus, partitions removed for a more open feeling. However I almost always order the chicken chimichanga and the new menu combo was two chimichangas which I knew I couldn’t finish so I ordered a single item combo and the chimichanga was fairly small. I always order no rice double beans and I only got one portion of beans as I said I think these are the best beans in Sacramento so I was a little disappointed other then that my food was hot, the chips were hot and the margarita I ordered was great!

My Headhunter’s Huevos Rancheros this morning was so bad, I needed to get a good Mexican food fix, so we went to Rick’s tonight. I had what i almost always get there, which is a chile relleno, cheese enchilada combo and a Cadillac margarita, and as always, I left full and satisfied. This place has been a consistently good and dependable restaurant for many years, and for the life of me, I can’t figure out why it’s almost always close to empty. I have gone here pretty regularly for over 20 years now, and even though the ownership has changed, I’m happy to say that I still love it. They bring you complimentary soup, chips and salsa, and even a plate of bean and cheese chips before your meal, so be careful, because your meal will be on the larger size. Because of the lack of customers, i worry that I may lose my favorite Sacto Mexican place, so please go there and see for yourself how good it is before it has to close for lack of business. Seriously, I won’t be able to take that!

This used to be my absolute favorite restaurant as a kid(25+ years ago). It was still my favorite Mexican restaurant up until it was sold from Rick to whom I’m told is a nephew. Nothing is the same now — the interesting décor, the orchids, the huge saltwater fish tank, the quality of food — all gone. It was a Wednesday night, so I wasn’t expecting a ton of people, but my date and I were the only customers until we were about finished, when another couple came in. The server was nice enough, and explained a little about the changes, but said the recipes were the same. They totally weren’t. I always got ground beef tacos, with beans and no rice on the side. This time, both weren’t very good at all. They both had an odd sweet flavor to them rather than savory, which was off-putting in particular. The only positive is that we got free cups of chicken soup(wasn’t that good but it was free) and a free mini plate of nachos(the thought counts I guess). I guess the glory days truly are over. If I drank, I’d pour out a 40.

Randomly stopped here today while thrifting in South Sac with a friend. Good fried chips & salsa. plus $ 4.99 lunch! Yes! They messed up my cheese enchilada… no chicken please! Okay. When i finally ate it was just boring. No flavor! They were super nice but I wish their food was better. I wish we had gone to La Favorita instead.
