Dude can you please get rid of that bitchy waitress we had. Is she mute? Can she talk? She knows she gets tipped based on service right? Wanted to like this place but attitude will kill the experience. Thought about coming back but I don’t think my husband will give it another shot. He was really mad about the quality of service. If you don’t like your job quit. Or atleast fake that you are happy. Eye rolling and a negative attitude won’t get you far and won’t get you good tips. Smile girl. It matters.

A good place with a fun vibe. It’s not a bar you hear about very often but it’s worth a visit. The atmosphere is laid back and casual. It’s dark inside but not in a creepy way, just dark enough to create some atmosphere. The happy hour prices were good and the beer selection is decent. Overall I had a good experience. That’s the good… Now onto the bad… I’m sorry to say ordering the nachos was a mistake. They were really wrong. Like someone stewed an old sneaker and mixed it into nachos wrong. They smelled funky, they tasted funky, and had a funky aftertaste. I had the misfortune of re-tasting them when I burped on my car ride home. If my stomach had written this review, it would have said, gurgle, gurgle, gurgle… «Don’t order the nachos!!!» The bad aside, I like the place and would go back. It’s a good bar with a fun atmosphere.

Cheap drinks and a decent bartender, but the atmosphere makes you want to break off your beer bottle and slash yer wrists.

This place is truly a hidden gem. The alcohol is cheap and thanks to it being in a hotel there are always new faces and new experiences. One night I chatted with a psychologist that told be the secret to life when I was so drunk I was juggling the pool balls. The next day I broke up a fight between a federal agent and a regular. These are real stories and my home girls Brittany and Abi the boomerang can co-sign. Plus it’s close enough for me to walk home. Always a plus when alcohol is this cheap. On a scale of one to seven, five being the highest… It’s a nine.

I never would have found this place if it wasn’t for Unilocal. It’s inside the double tree motel. A ton of TVs. An if you know me you would know that I like free anything. Yes free popcorn is what I’m saying. An the draft beers weren’t over priced either. This place earned every star I gave it an maybe more.

RJ’s Happy Hour Club is located inside of the Double Tree by Hilton hotel. While the hotel itself is beautiful, the bar is actually really dark. They didn’t have either of the 2 liquers we were looking for, Don Julio and Hendricks but we can’t expect them to have everything. The bartender said it was his second day or something like that and was still very knowledgeable about the menu which was impressive. The cocktails were on point and the prices were very reasonable. The bartender was great and I’m a fan! We were actually attending a christmas party downstairs at the time but decided to hang out here for a little bit to catch the game. When we realized that the bar downstairs was a cash bar and we only had credit, my boyfriend decided to make the haul all the way upstairs to get us both another drink. I stayed behind because the party we were attending was about to host a raffle and I didn’t want to miss it. After waiting for a while my boyfriend ordered our drinks and the other bartender refused to serve him. He said he wouldn’t be able to server him 2 drinks. My boyfriend reminded him that he was just small talking with us but he still refused to serve him the 2 drinks. I understand this is a matter of policy but whoever is handling the cash bar situation should take note of this inconvenience considering the bar in the party only accepted cash. Overall, this bar is pretty cool. They have plenty of TVs and a couple pool tables. They even have a really nice patio where you can do get some air. I am definitely a fan!

Not much to hate but so much to love. Free popcorn, good prices on the drafts, tv’s galore for sports. Please, stay the f away… this is my hidden gem. Might meet some out of towners, might not. Might meet some old folks, might not. Doesn’t matter, you’re not here for that. Try the wings, they’re good. My only gripe, only one IPA on draft. Besides that it’s lovely. Salud cabrones!

Stopped by before the Republic game at Cal Expo and was quite happy with the experience. Cheap beers, damn good wings and TV’s galore. What else could you want? Cheap prices? They serve happy hour virtually all day. Highly recommend if you need a place to get your fill prior to a Republic game.

Hotel restaurants are usually marginal or suck. I’ve stayed at enough of them. Nice hotels but the food is usually average at best. This place is the exception for casual fare. Late night at the bar — friendly bartender, good hot burger n fries, and a cold beer(Hefeweizen on tap). Impressive for 11 at night. Good place so check it out.

I’m sure it’s a great place, but our particular server was very negative towards us. Let me start off by saying that I have nothing against Double Tree hotel by Hilton or the staff in the main lobby. This particular place also has an enclosed parking where you have to have the ticket validated or pay. I met up with some friends here for a drink and the setting here is great. Our bartender at the bar took a long time to get to us, but to be fair, it was a busy Thursday night so these kind of things happen. This particle bartender might have been having a bad night, because she rolled her eyes and gave out loud sighs everytime we ordered drinks. When we tried to get our tickets validated, she spoke back to us very negatively. This place is really nice so i’m giving it 2 stars.

I have been to this hotel and the lounge where it is located inside, on multiple occasions in the distant past. Before it was the Doubletree Hotel, it was the Red Lion Inn. And the lounge had several name changes since the 70’s, with the most recent change from RJ Grins to its current RJ’s Happy Hour Club. This is quite a change from being a disco, to night club, to its current sports bar status. While secretly, I still miss the old school music that used to be popular here during my heyday, this new, more relaxed atmosphere is probably more appealing for all ages. I found the new up grades to be very nice, with plenty of seating in all parts of this huge expansive lounge. It’s arranged ideally for large parties, small groups, couples, or the solitary patron. Several large flat screen TV’s are strategically placed on all walls of the room for your viewing pleasure. There are two pool tables, dart board, and even trivia gaming. While I’m not much of a sports enthusiast, this sports bar hits a home run on all bases! The wait staff are attentive, the cocktails are strong, and the atmosphere uplifting. The food menu has a nice selection and variety to choose from. Just to name a few items off the top of my head were: pulled pork sliders, egg rolls, pot stickers, flat breads, mini tostadas, spicy chicken wings, veggies & dip, fruit and an assorted array of cheeses and crackers. Since I don’t eat much meat, I engorged myself with fruit, vegetables, cheese and crackers. I found myself in a sports bar paradise! After coming here for the first time during a Unilocal event, last year, I was quite impressed and look forward to visiting this bar more often with my friends. I’m pretty sure it will make quite an impression on them as well!

Service was slow even though the bar was nearly empty. Food was far worse. I ordered fish and it smelled(I.e. it was out far too long). I won’t be back for either. I’d never heard of RJ’s Happy Hour Club until a recent Unilocal event. It’s located in back of lobby at Double Tree Hotel across from Arden Fair Mall. Parking is validated, so no need to park on the street. The place was very generous, allowing Unilocalers to get the whole place to ourselves and giving us $ 1.50 drink coupons. Two lucky Unilocalers who won the Buzztime trivia and raffle each received a free stay at the hotel as well. Happy hour: $ 2 off draft beer, single shot drinks, house wine, and all food items except wings daily from 5−7pm and 10−11pm $ 2 off specialty cocktails and $ 1 per wing in increments of 5 from 7−10pm A waitress came by our table and offered us a basket of popcorn and took our drink orders. Food offerings included buffalo wings, pulled pork sliders, cheese and crackers, fruit, and veggies. Servers(shout out to Maria) were also walking around with additional appetizers for Unilocalers– tostadas, flatbread, potstickers, and egg rolls. My favorite was the potstickers. It’s a nice place with plenty of televisions, and two pool tables. The staff was also excellent and attentive.

Stay Classy Sacramento… Though I frequent Happy Hours all around the world in search of true happiness… and well… ALCOHOL. Lets be honest, I don’t usually find myself at a hotel bar. However, this my friends, has changed my life forever! Well, maybe not forever but definitely between the hours of 4 and 7pm, lol. Ya know what I’m sayin? Yes, you can find happiness in a place like this. Join the Club, I know I did! The setup looks classy and its got everything you want in a sports bar. They have TVs tuned to sports, pool tables, video trivia, drinks and great appetizers. Gotta say I loved the steak tacos. I’m a sucker for street tacos. Unilocal, you had me at «Hola» uhh, como se dice…“buzzzed” lol. So anyways. if you spot a Jameson drinkin — Hennessy sippin gentlefella in red Unilocal Elite high socks at the bar. Hollaaaah… because its me! Don’t call it a comeback! Cheers. A toast to Greatness. =d

I really enjoyed my time at RJ’s during a Unilocal event. I have a lot of dietary restrictions(their cheese spread looked, smelled and sounded fantastic from what i heard from the elite), but did like the food setup and the several things I tried. They don’t use those crappy, frozen costco appetizers, RJ’s is all about quality. From the slightly spicy, crispy pot-stickers and egg rolls, to the juicy chicken wings, they seem to have their bar food just right. The staff were very friendly, quick to provide service and just nice people to be around. What I really enjoyed were the interactive trivia and the myriad games on multiple TVs. They have a free trivia system(you can also sign up with e-mail to compete in a larger pool) that would be great for a group of friends or someone looking to build one by joining in. I liked that they showed several sports and several different teams, while still having coverage of the most popular ones throughout the bar. It would be hard not to have a good seat for viewing your favorite game. So while I can’t speak to value as well as others, it seems that RJ’s is indeed a happy, well-run place that you should go check out next time you head out for a drink, a game or want to try some trivia.

RJ’s Happy Hour Club is a hidden pearl inside of the oyster. Located just off the lobby area inside the Double Tree Hotel, this little Sports Bar plays host to 10TV’s, two pool tables, a huge bar and my favorite, a popcorn machine with endless popcorn. I didn’t get to glance at their full dinning menu but, I did sample some of their appetizers. Beef Tacos, Egg Rolls, fresh Veggies and Hot Wings to name a few. My favorite being those hot wings. Just the right amount of heat to let you know its time for another beer. Really cool place. Idea for those after work drinks with friends.

Kudos to RJ’s for being wise and holding a Unilocal event at their lovely remodeled sports bar. I’ll admit, I was kinda snobby about this place’s «rep» but am glad to report that’s been turned around. I don’t really know what RJ’s looked like before their remodel, but the place looks great now. Casual upscale sports bar? Yep. I would have to say the hotel and staff at our Unilocal event handled it right. Plenty of food, discounted drinks, and great service. Only suggestions? Get some window shades on those curved windows! We were hot and blinded until the sun went down behind one of the hotel buildings at 7:20’ish. Also, the AC could have been cranked up just a tad more, given it was soooo flippin’ hot in Sac this day. Lastly, RJ’s gave out $ 1.50 drink coupons to use next time we’re there. So, guess Hubby and I will make it a «night out» and drive alllllll the way from Natomas for their Happy Hour one day soon. Hey, RJ’s earned at least one non-Yelp-event return visit from us :)

One memorable visit and I’m now most definitely a fan! I’m a fan of «hidden» bars off the beaten path in general, and RJ’s is just the ticket to a great hotel bar experience. This place use to have a reputation as a somewhat sleazy dance destination five years or so ago. That crowd grew old and the bar underwent a revamp, resulting in a now more upscale(but still very casual) sports bar complete with tons of tv’s playing multiple sports, pool tables, video trivia and a great sound system. The biggest selling point for me were the attractive and friendly waitresses and affable bartenders. Tip: They have a great happy hour special with $ 2 off draft beer, single shot drinks, specialty cocktails, house wine and all food items, and $ 1 wings in increments of five. The platter, which includes nachos, pork sliders and wings, is a must.
