Staff was courteous and fast. These girls ran all over the place taking care of their customers. We went during happy hour. Their sushi was sooo good. I don’t think you could order something on their menu that isn’t good. I don’t get to Sacramento very often but would definitely come back here!!!

This is my new favorite sushi place in East Sacramento. Everything on the menu is good. I always sit at the sushi bar and watch them make all the rolls. My most favorite one isn’t even on the menu. You have to know the secret password.

I went to Sushi Café last night with a friend who had been there a few times previously. We were greeted at the door and service was prompt and friendly. The food was alright for the price — a little lacking in flavor but big portions! The service was friendly… to us. Towards the end of the meal, a man who looked to be homeless came in with two bags. He started to order what he wanted and the woman directed him to sit at a chair near the front when he tried to sit at the bar. He sat at the bar anyways. He was polite, said please and thank you, and made pleasant conversations with the people sitting next to him. His sprite was brought out in a tiny plastic to-go cup. He then told the waitress«glass is fine» and that he was eating it at the restaurant. The plastic cup remained. No water or edamame was ever brought out to him as it had been for my friend and me. His food arrived in a to-go bag. He pointed at my bento box tray and said«do you have a tray?» indicating that he wanted to eat off a plate like a normal person dining in a restaurant, not out of Styrofoam. The request was ignored and the waitress walked away mid sentence. He ate his meal out of the Styrofoam container at the counter. Mind you — he was CLEAN, POLITE, and friendly — other than the bags on his back he could have been ANY paying customer. It left me feeling sick to my stomach and I almost spoke up. I wish I had. I will not be visiting Sushi Café again after their treatment of this PAYING customer. I hope the man was somewhat able to enjoy his meal.

Not bad, service can be better. My friend’s plate of sashimi was sitting out at the bar for at least 10 minutes before it was actually served to us. We had to ask them if it was ours, and they brought it to us after we had to tell them. Food was okay, but the service can be better. The prices aren’t bad too for the amount of sashimi and also the size of each piece.

The Bento Box is the best to eat here. Talk about bang for your buck. Disappointed in the Wasabi. Tasted powdery and not spicy at all.

First time here, used the app Reserved to find it with a 10% off special Quaint but nice on a a non descript stripmall on Alhambra. Kinda to the side but once you enter it’s delightful. Not too ultra chic like Mikunis. Loved the charming décor. Bigger than it looks from the outside Very nice greeting from multiple people and was immediately sat at a comfy booth. Was surprised at the cost, very affordable compared to Mikunis. You have to pull a second mortgage there :) Ordered three rolls and some sushi and was extremely pleased. Presentation was great and tasted as good as it looked. The staff knew about the app, whereas Barwest had no idea what I was talking about. If you’ve never used the app I strongly recommend downloading it. You book with area restaurants to reserve a time and some places run specials as high as 20% off. This place did 10% and we wouldn’t have tried it if I didn’t have the app You pay with the app through apple pay and its easy. Loved that they knew what I was talking about since I had a frustrating time at Barwest using it Of you want affordable but delicious sushi, I definitely recommend this place. I will bring other people here as I thought that value vs food was excellent

Sushi café… Well I walked in on a rainy day craving some udon soup. I was a little early so I waited in my car for about 20 mins to give them time to be ready when I walk in. 11:10 I walked in behind a women, she was seated at the bar and I stood there awkwardly due to the fact that the worker that sat her down walked to the back. After standing there for about 3 mins(which isn’t a big deal) another worker walked over and sat me down. No biggy they had just opened. This is were I was really frustrated. There are about 4 waitress walking around … Mind I tell you I’ve be there for 10 mins and no one has walked over to ask me for my drink or appetizer. Couple mins go by and a waitress walked over to me and says«oh I didn’t see you».? Okay??? There were only two other tables there and I was seated in the back right in the middle. One of the waitress that looked very unhappy walked over and took my order(gyoza, chicken udon) did not crack a smile once, make me feel welcomed please. 10 mins later my gyoza came out, I was very pleased the presentation was very nice and the test was great ! I was excited to have my udon I had been craving it all day. It came out in a black bowel and I didn’t know how to feel about … I would rather have it in a nice CLEAN bowel. There were black dots in my soup due to the«texture» of the bowel… I’m not very happy about that. In the description of the soup it said vegetables, there was lettuce but the lettuce was over cooked… I was hoping for broccoli, mushrooms and fresh lettuce. The broth was was okay but the noodle were over cooked as well… I liked the fact that it has tofu though so that’s a plus. My waitress did not come back to check on me what’s so ever and I’m huge on customer service… One waitress at least came by, smiled and asked if I was doing okay. In all I was very disappointed. If I do ever come there again I will NOT order any soups.

Ordered chicken katsu & beef teriyaki bento box. Not a fan of the teriyaki sauce, too sweet, gooey, & glazing. Like out of a bottle. Katsu sauce taste more like sesame chicken sauce which they pour over the top of the chicken. I prefer sauce on the side. That all being said, the meat was tender and delicious, New York steak. The batter on the katsu was light and crispy but thinly slice of chicken. Salad was nice with a mayo type dressing. 2 pieces of California roll and rice.

The rolls are really good here and everything was very fresh! The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because the prices are a bit high. But other than that the place is presentable and clean and the food quality is excellent.

I’ve been coming to Sushi Café for years now and it’s always a solidly good experience. The wait time to get a table and then get your order can be a bit long at times(Sushi Café IS pretty popular, especially their happy hour) but the staff is friendly, I’ve never had a problem with my order, and the food is pretty great. All the random sushi I’ve eaten has been delicious and in my opinion they serve the best donburi in town(if you see me face-deep in some oyako-don, don’t judge me!) Sushi Café is my spot for East Sacramento sushi noms; check them out if you haven’t eaten at this Alhambra Blvd hot spot yet.

Quick service! I called in my order and it was ready when I came in. This place is a little pricey but the rolls were good. The restaurant is a little small on the inside but well decorated. There is bar seating when you first walk in, to the left, and table seating to the right. The lady who helped was very nice.

Perfect late lunch with my son. Sushi happy hour started at 2:30p. Favorite hands down was the SPD roll. It is spicy though. $ 5.50 a roll. You can’t beat it!

I reduced a star down bc we came to this restaurant for a reason to use a Entertainment book coupon but I didn’t read anywhere it was only good for entrees only. I was a bit disappointed about that but I still do like their tempura. In fact I ordered the shrimp tempura and NY steak teriyaki bento. It was an additional 2 dollars bc of the two choices. The shrimp tempura was excellent bc in fact I got like four pieces. I wasn’t that impressed with the NY steak teriyaki that next time I’ll just order the chicken teriyaki! Hubby ordered the chirashi don which basically is different kinds of sashimi over rice. He mentioned it was just mediocre. I know he meant it wasn’t as fresh as Sushi Q. We were here to celebrate a family member getting a new job finally that going out to eat was appropriate as the job would start in a couple days! Probably wondering why we didn’t go to the one on Freeport Boulevard? Two reasons bc the coupon was good only at Alhambra & we unfortunately had a bad experience there before which is now another story!

Went here for lunch today as it is right across the street from one of my offices. As we walked in, almost everyone working there greeted us in traditional Japanese fashion. the place was bustling at lunchtime which was a good sign. I perused the menu and decided on the Bento Box lunch special. I ordered the Sesame Chicken and the server, asked me what was my other selection. I failed to realize that the bento box came with two items, so I also chose the steak as a second option. All bento boxes are priced at $ 7.95 at lunchtime. They also have a happy hour from 2:30 to 5:30 where they have $ 2.50 drafts and $ 5.50 sushi rolls. The bento box came out with rice, a nice salad, and a couple of pieces of kani crab rolls. The portions of the chicken and beef were good sized. The chicken had good flavor, and was lightly sprinkled with sesame seeds. The steak was good, with a teriyaki sauce and also had sesame seeds. Service was efficient and prompt, as we sat in a large cushioned booth in the middle of the restaurant. Even though the place was pretty busy in the lunch hour, we got out in 45 min. We will be back for a Happy Hour report soon.

First time here in a while, came here with my man who treated me. :) In all, I LOVEDIT. Super tasty and spicy rolls. The spicy rolls really are in fact spicy AF, they don’t play. I got the SPD Roll and the Five Alarm Roll. Both spicy and amazing. I will be returning for happy hour again. Rolls are only $ 5.50 before 5:30. YUMMMMMO!

Small little Japanese restaurant with a lot of charm. Family owned. Private lot that can get kind of packed. Located in a little strip mall. The place gets really packed for lunch so get here early. Cute little decorations. Service is good and damn so is the food! The sashimi is cut thick! The rolls are hearty and they definitely don’t skimp. Everything we ordered was good except for the stuffed mushrooms. Stay away. I am coming back!

Have you ever had a day when you just wanted to stay home, read a good book or just do nothing? Well today was that kind of day. It was a very dreary overcast day with the temperature around 72 degrees. This kind of weather always makes me sleepy plus the Wimbledon women semi-final tennis match was on. Some days I have such a hard time to decide what to have for dinner whether to have Chinese food or Mexican or Mediterranean. It had been a while since we had eaten Japanese food and teriyaki salmon sounded pretty good. Picked up the phone and called one of our favorite Japanese restaurants Sushi Café located in a small strip mall at 1221 Alhambra Boulevard in Sacramento, California. There is a full bar to the left as you enter the restaurant. As you turn the corner to the seating area there was a beautiful mural of Japanese Geishas on the wall. The sushi bar wrapped around the corner to the left and there was plenty of seating. Sushi café is well known for their happy hour. Specialty rolls are half-price and selected beers are only 2.50. I have come during happy hour before to pick-up food and the restaurant was packed. Not a single empty seat in the house. Happy Hour runs from 2:30pm-5:30pm. Lunch hours are from 11:00am-3:30pm. Dinner is also served until 10 pm or 11 pm depending on the night. Not only do they offer traditional Japanese dishes such as teriyaki chicken, sesame chicken, tempura but also dishes like katsudon(fried pork loin cooked with egg, onion, vegetables in katsu sauce). Nabeyaki Udon is a Japanese noodle soup served with vegetables, eggs, chicken in house special soup with tempura on the side. Today I had the teriyaki salmon with teriyaki chicken while my wife had the teriyaki salmon with veggie tempura. The entrees also came with rice and a house salad lightly flavored with a miso dressing as well as two pieces of California roll. The servers were on top of their game. Parking in front of the restaurant is very tight and usually full so there is additional parking just across the street. Prices are very reasonable. Great place to get together with family and friends! Bön Appetite!

Sushi café how i first came into loving sushi. We were here for a friends birthday and we turned that into many more parties. They have a section For the bar to sit at, you have another at where they prepare the sushi you can sit at, and then they have there tables too. They are pretty much packed all the time which means they are doing something right. they have great deals for there happy hour which is monday to saturday 230 to 530pm. Rolls are $ 5.50 and they have a list of them to choose from. We have tried so many rolls, appetizers, bento boxs, bowls of rice and noodles. We have been coming here since 2008 and have ate here well over 30 times and never had a problem with quality of the food or the orders. Yes they can be very busy but its worth the wait. They offer cucumbers or edamames while you wait, they give a slice of lemon with there water, and they have multiple tv’s to watch games, shows or what ever is on. They do have a dessert menu, we have tried multiple kinds of there mochi which were good. There staff has been pretty consistent over the years and the owner is always been nice. Great place and the regulars make the place nice to go to.

You cannot use your entertainment coupon for sushi… and it advertises sushi rolls on it. Wasn’t impressed by the pork katsu either… seemed as if it was layered with grease. Even my hubby couldn’t finish it later. Disgusting. Charged us $ 6 for the tiny 6 sushi rolls and they insisted we ordered regular takamaki and not spicy. Ummm, why would spicy be cheaper again?! Not coming back.

I stumbled across this place while trying(and failing) to find parking at Star Ginger nearby. Even though it’s kinda tucked away, I was pleasantly surprised to see a decently sized lunch crowd. My friend and I both got the lunch special Bento boxes — a soup, 2 entrees, 2 pieces of california roll, side salad, and rice. While the service left something to be desired(didn’t see our server from when we ordered to when she dropped off the check), the food was pretty good. The portions were nicely sized and the price wasn’t too bad. It looks like they have a pretty good happy hour menu too.
