Went out for breakfast Christmas Eve morning with my mom and my son, and we wanted to finally try this place. We walked in and got seated pretty fast. The waitress had someone wipe a booth for us, and we sat. And we sat and sat some more. Five minutes goes by and a waiter had walked by twice, never got asked if we had been helped, never got a drink order from us and we never even got menus. The lady who sat us walked by and I had to stop her to ask for menus. And again she didn’t even ask if we wanted anything to drink. I we waited a solid 15 min with out any one ever checking on is or getting is anything. We left and went to IHOP, where we had great service as usual. Will never go back to this place or recommend it to anyone.

Can I have warm food with my roach? Came in on Saturday with friend and her elderly mother and while talking a roach moonwalk across our table. We hit it away and killed it and when the waitress came by we showed her. She seemed horrified and said she was going to tell manager. We waited… Nada. Then another waitress came by seemed oblivious and could care less just drops the food off with cold plates and cold food. The manager nor anyone ever came over to check on us or apologize. Food was bland, cold and we all left food on plates and sure thoughts of the roach dancing in our heads. When you don’t even address the roach in the room that equals the worst customer service ever, even if I went to a friend’s house and that happen they at least say something! If you have roaches that you can see can you imagine what you can’t see!!! Will never come back again unless all mankind’s food supply is gone and I don’t have leather to chew on while imagining it’s beef jerky.

Food was good, but the service was horrible! We waited 30 minutes before someone took our order. Then we waited 45 minutes for our food to come out. I’m going to Mel’s next time.

Possibly under different management then the other waffle square’s in Sac. My husband and I were there Sunday and we each ordered a cup of coffee; gritts, a bowl of fruit and an order of bacon. This costs us $ 35! The grits were horribly lumpy(someone definitly didn’t know what they were doing) the fruit was of but not worth $ 10 and the 4 pieces of bacon were so over cooked they crumbled! WEWILLNEVERBECOMINGHEREAGAIN! The worst food and service doesn’t make up for it either! Disappointment city!

I had driven past waffle square many times, and this morning I woke up and decided to try it. I looked up the hours on Unilocal and it said it opened at 5:30 so I got ready and arrived at 5:40 excited to try a new breakfast place. I was disappointed to find it was not open. Was Unilocal wrong? So I drove right up to the front door. The sign on the door said open at 5:30 so I doula checked the time and it was 5:40. I then got out and tried the front door, locked. Well I left and went to Denny’s :(

Came in for lunch, but, my tummy saw the breakfast menu and that’s all she wrote. Only issue I found, it was kind of hot inside. Temperature of restaurant, could have been cooler. But, it got better as time passed… It was a very clean, quiet location on Fulton with two t. v’s to watch while eating. Our waitress Christy, was very nice to talk with. Food came out fast and delicious! Will return again.

My guy and I are sitting here at Waffle Square, our table was sticky with syrup, it was spilled all over the floor. We had ask them to wash the table, once we found that something was all over the floor, we had ask for a new table and wash off my flip flop. If you habe an allergy to schell fish, or fish in general do not eat the fried food THEYDONOT fry the schell fish\fish in it’s own fryer. Note: they will cook you food if you have enough where about to ask. Sevice can be better and the owner\manjor dose not seem to care about their costumers. We have been waiting nearly an hour for our food to come out, so be ready for a long wait to get your order to the table.

The soggiest waffle, tasteless omelette, weird tasting Sausages, no flavor what so ever. The best thing were the conditments because it was the only thing that will make the food taste good. First time. Never again

This place is the best country cooking and breakfast place I have ever found in Sacramento!!! I’m from the south and this food was sooooooo good. Reminded me of home, this is now going to be my new favorite breakfast stop!!!

We were not happy with the service nor the size of our meal, especially the price we paid for it. Our 2nd appearance there & both times were the same unhappy result.

There is nothing special about this«hole in the wall» breakfast joint. Make sure you allow yourself 30 minutes to order, 30 minutes for your food to be ready and another 30 minutes to pay. I should have read the Unilocal reviews before going. Undercooked onions, extremely slow service and cold biscuits and gravy. As much as I love to support local businesses, we won’t be back.

wasn’t very impressed. Expensive and plain. The seats were torn and bumpy and the service was almost non-existinent. Won’t be going back.

After eating here a couple of times and not being impressed its time to find another neighborhood diner. Given that its a diner I expect there to be old timey décor, an oddball group of regulars, and pretty simple menu options. Here you get all of that plus painfully slow service whether dine in or take out and not so great food. The host actually seemed annoyed that more customers kept coming in, which was just weird since that’s what they need to profit. I happen to love breakfast, but here the portions are on the small side and the food is unseasoned unless you count the burnt flavor. The prices are cheap, but you can order the same meal at another diner for roughly the same price and get twice as much food that isn’t burnt or under seasoned. If it weren’t for their faithful regulars, who clearly don’t mind not so great food and service, I don’t see how this place would stay open.

As I was looking for a good mom & pop greasy spoon restaurant for breakfast, I was quite a bit surprised how«The Waffle Square» only had a 2 ½ star rating on Unilocal. The first thought that came to mind was«what happened?». I’ve actually been here quite a few times in the past as they have always delivered excellent comfort food that is as good(if not better) than an IHOP or Denny’s. It had been at least 5+ years since I’ve stepped foot in this place, let’s see if it was as good as I had remembered. Located on the corner of Fulton Ave. and Cottage Way in the Arden-Arcade neighborhood of Sacramento, this has been a longstanding business for many years. I came here with my fiancée on a Saturday morning around 9:30am. As expected, the restaurant was extremely busy with customers while the employees were frantically delivering breakfasts at a high rate of speed. Luckily when we arrived, we were seated within just a minute and given menus and iced waters. The inside of this place has a very old school feel to it to it much like how restaurants looked back in the 1970’s/80’s. There were some cheesy looking fake plants hanging from the ceiling but they also had more modern touches such as a few flat screen TV’s. Additionally, there were several booths and regular tables that were spacious enough to accommodate large parties. It has a very ‘neighborhood’ feel to it with many locals and regulars that dine here on a regular basis. As the menu is very extensive, I decided to go all out and order the«Waffle & Potato Combo»(for $ 8.99). This combo included a sample of everything, a ½ slice of a waffle, one bacon strip, one sausage link, two eggs, and country home-fried potatoes. My fiancée decided on the«French Toast Combo»(for $ 7.99). This included two slices of French toast w/powdered sugar, two eggs, and two slices of bacon. We also had unlimited refills on their house coffee. As busy as it was at this time of day, our breakfasts arrived in a very timely manner. Everything was cooked well and piping hot upon arrival. The eggs(which I actually substituted egg whites) were cooked perfectly. The bacon had a smoky flavor while the sausage had too much of a rubbery texture to it much like something you’d nuke in the microwave. The waffle had a nice crisp taste to it while I didn’t go too overboard with the heaping glob of butter and syrup on the side. But what really had me sold was their home-fried potatoes. They were cooked to perfection while there were seasonings mixed in complete with slices of onions to complete the entire presentation. With that said and done, «The Waffle Square» is worthy of a four-star rating. The service, prices, and overall quality of food was above average. Their portions are quite generous so come hungry with a big appetite if you decide on dining here. And for those of you who don’t work Monday through Friday(unlike myself), they have breakfast specials from 6−11am. It sounds as if many Unilocalers had a bad experience based on service and some of the food arriving cold. However, we didn’t overcome anything negative except for us being extremely full afterwards!

We were hungry and originally going to Mimi’s but I saw this on Unilocal, and though it looks a little sad from the outside I wanted to support a local small business. We got Carlos who came out right away and got drink orders. As he was getting our drinks, another server brought us waters. There were only a few other people in the restaurant so they could really use the business. Their Omlettes COMEWITH biscuits and gravy! Though I wish the gravy had ground beef in it, it was seasoned to a T. My mom got Eggs Benedict(her favorite) and got one ham, which she said was delicious, and one crab cake which she LOVED because they make their crab cakes Crispy! She said she only found one other place that does it like that and it’s her favorite. The place overall is clean though a little dated as far as the interior. And the restrooms are the same. It has a Mel’s Diner kind of feel. Good place for a cheap Breakfast with a GREATMENUSELECTION!
