Theater of Lights

Had a wonderful time here at Theater of Lights! I went here recently and it was amazing!!! The lights, the decorations! I was impressed of what Sacramento had to offer.
Theater of Lights brings you the Christmas spirit. Awesome place to bring your family or even go on a date. I’m somewhat new to Sacramento, this was an awesome experience! I love old sac because there was things to do around the area. We grabbed some hot chocolate, saw the show, walked around, and had a great time checking out what Old Sac had to offer.
I’d highly recommend checking out Theater of Lights for the holidays!

Surprised I haven’t done a review on theater of lights yet as I come to see it every year. I am never disappointed.
I love the show from watching Santa to Jack Frost it amazing and the lights and the Christmas tree is absolutely fantastic.
If you haven’t gone and plan on going you may want to plan to get there a couple hours early. There’s also refreshments sold as well.
This play is for everyone not just the kiddos. Every time I have a great time and I was finally able to talk my 14 year old to come out with me.

Theatre of lights is an awesome show! My family and I make it a point to drive to Sac every year just for this. We LOVE this show! So fun and cool

Really fun, Free event in Old Sacramento. Professionally done with music, staging, theatrical lights and an engaging story line. Not too important to get there too early as there is plenty of room in the viewing area. Best spot to be is directly, dead center of the street so you can see the action on both sides of the street. The quality of the production is Disney like and lasts about 15 min long as you watch the story unfold as you go thru some of the history of Sacramento, and an epic battle between Santa and Jack Frost. But don’t worry Christmas fans, it of course has a happy ending as Santa brings out the Christmas spirit in Jack Frost and we all go away happy!
There are vendors serving hot chocolate and beignets, and the shops are all open so if you haven’t been to Old Sacramento, it’s a nice stroll.

I loved the show. It was far better than I expected. My only advice would be to go to the later show at 745 it was less crowded and we were able to get a good spot.

Wow, wow, wow! I was amazed! This presentation far exceeded my expecations! Disney quality presentation, perfectly executed and very entertaining! Can’t believe I hadn’t heard of until this year. Was with my gf this time… gonna take the kids this weekend. Good job!

Wow… I cannot believe this little slice of Christmas cheer has been going on in Old Sac for five years, and this is the FIRST time I’ve gone! Geez, what was I waiting for? Oh yeah, Hubby McScrooge…
Anyway, Old Sac and Macy’s does a bang-​up job of putting on this cute spectacle. The syncronized lights are impressive, the way they utilize the Old Sac Christmas tree in the story is super (so many pretty lights!), and the involvement of Santa Claus, Mr. McClatchey, and Jack Frost makes it more than just a light spectacular.
Granted, this is definitely geared more towards kids, but it’s nice to have the kid in me entertained, especially at Christmas :) Great job, Old Sac and sponsors! Looks like this might become a tradition (mainly because it’s free, which appeals mightily to Hubby McScrooge!).

I’m not much into the stress and financial hardships that go along with Christmas, but decorations and lights do add some spark to my depressing and tired old life as it is. So when we were celebrating my boyfriend’s birthday at his parent’s house which is just a hop, skip and a jump from Old Sac., the suggestion to go see the light show turned out to be a nice idea.
This was the first time I was made aware of this show, even though it has been held every year for the last 5 years! The performance starts on Thanksgiving and happens on specific days of the week all the way through New Year’s Day. An entertaining version of «Twas the Night before Christmas» is narrated by an actor portraying Mark Twain who in turn recites the poem as others work in conjunction to act out this classic children’s play for all ages to enjoy. Complete with an extensive array of decorative lights in a multitude of beautiful colors that correlate with the timing of the play’s progression.
The play is situated at Front and K Street up on the outside balconies of the participating businesses along that street. This makes viewing the whole light show easier for all to see as the street is temporarily blocked off to allow visitors to congregate out in the middle of the street. The show is not only free, but enjoyable to watch. I couldn’t help but notice the smiles on people’s faces that didn’t even have children with them.
There is something about a light show that seems to stimulate and fascinate our senses towards shiny objects! I’m sure the intention is to draw more people to patronize all the wonderful businesses located in Old Sacramento, which is one of my favorite tourist attractions of the city. Maybe they should have more light shows like this during other holidays as well!

I love the «Theater of Lights» which is put on annually during the holidays by the Old Sacramento Business Association. I love how it brings families together along with everyone else that loves the spirit of Christmas. I go every year and I am never disappointed. It has become a true Sacramento tradition. To me, it is very representative of the simple things that make life worth living.
It takes place every weekend in December on K Street between 1rst and 2^nd streets. Everyone stands in the center of the street and watches as jolly old St. Nick and Jack Frost battle from the balconies with a fantastic array of lighting and music with the story line being loosely set to the age old classic; «Twas The Night Before Christmas».
This is a must for all of you hopeless romanticists that love Christmas.
