Pepper steak and meatball subs good. Food overall was great. Definitely a dive feel and the outside is a little rough. Great cannoli and excellent staff.

This place is awesome! If there are any reviews less than 4 stars just ignore them! Ive recently been introduced to Tony Baloney’s and have been back 3 times in a week. The peppered steak sand-which is a must have. Great flavor and great service.

I really love a good pastrami sandwich. I have been aware of this restaurant for 30 years and finally made it here to try it. I walked in with a huge appetite and I ordered a large pastrami sandwich with cheese. It looked appetizing, but the pastrami was flavorless. It didn’t even look like pastrami, it was sort of brown and resembled a pale roast beef. I ate half, and then decided that I didn’t want to fill my stomach unnecessarily and inhibit my ability to fill it with better food from a different restaurant. If a pastrami sandwich from Subway or Togo’s is a 7, on a 1 to 10 scale, this is a 2. I am still thinking of giving them another chance and trying something else.

Tony Baloneys has been in business since 1963. Hubs and I came for a mid afternoon weekday lunch. It was my first time, and hubs last visit was about 18 years ago. The place is a family run business. Tony was there and had a lively conversation about the Sacramento Kings with the hubs. The two waitresses that helped us were sweethearts as well. First of all, the food is basic home made comfort food served in an inviting atmosphere by the friendliest folk. Simple unpretentious diner type food as expected from a «mom n pop» operation. The place is clean and frozen in time. We ordered iced teas, fresh brewed. I ordered the day’s special: spaghetti and cheesy bread $ 7.75. Hubs ordered the pepper steak sandwich and soda special: $ 9.60. My spaghetti was a large serving size and well cooked. The bread was French roll with melted mozzarella. The pepper steak was done Tony’s signature way. The meat was seasoned well.

Such a gem. My «small» meatball sandwich was huge and delicious. Macaroni salad was also spot on. Great customer service. Why do all the really good places have to be so far from home?

Best Italian sausage sandwich in town! And Tony’s pepper steak sandwich is sooooo good! Just stopped in for some to-go and had a nice chat with the man himself. Tony and his happy crew know how to make the best Italian sandwiches and salads. There’s not a bad choice on their menu. Everything is good. Do yourself a favor and make Tony Baloney’s the place to go to for the best Italian food around.

I can’t believe there could be any other sandwich shops surviving within 20 miles of this place. The food was awesome and the waitress was super nice and attentive. You’ll never be able to eat a Subway or Togo’s sandwich again after eating here!!!

They used can mushrooms on my pizza(gross!) and there was something crunchy in my sandwich, I almost puked. Some of the girls that work there have an attitude and I felt really uncomfortable. Plus way too expensive… I wish I just went to Round table instead, at least they have fresh ingredients.

The feels of this place is like an old school diner. I love mom and pop shops. The building itself does not have any signs but there’s a big pole sign telling you that it’s Tony’s. The worker was super friendly and made great conversation with me. I always love great customer service. I got the small PEPPERSTEAK sandwich. It was pretty pricey($ 8) but you can see the lumps of steak in the sandwich. It was super flavorful with a hint of freshness with those raw tomatoes. The bread was also a soft bread which gave nice texture and flavor in combination with the steak. I would definitely come back and try the rest of their food and hopefully enjoy the dining experience since I had to take mine to go.

Italian food is my favorite… growing up with Italian family… it happens so I Had the Sausage sandwich… was perfect size, perfect spice and they didn’t flood the bun with too much sauce… which was awesome. Topped with some Parmesan cheese and it hit the spot. The baguette was perfectly warmed and very fresh. Come to find out this place has been here in Sacramento for decades, I can’t believe it was my first time. Even saw the man himself Tony and I thought that was nice to see. I definitely will be back with my family!

This place is a Sacramento institution. I used to come here in the 1970’s with my mom. I always got the hot pastrami sandwich and she always got the pepper steak sandwich. We were so happy to see Tony had reopened after having to close for awhile. We recently came back and got the pepper steak sandwich. It’s exactly like it was back in the day. It consists of spicy(not overly) meat, mushrooms, onions, peppers and tomatoes on a soft, lightly toasted white roll. We have also always loved their homemade salad dressings, which can be purchased here.

It’s pretty good. Food was affordable and worth the money, but it wasn’t mind-blowing. I would only return if I was nearby, hungry, and got nothing else in mind to eat.

Lovely fresh buns. Spicy meatballs. Perfect peppersteak topped with fresh ripe diced tomatoes. Simple but totally toothsome potato salad. Why go any where else? I have been eating at Tony Baloneys since 1974, he and the family keep the quality high, the prices low and the service prompt and friendly. My fav is italian sausage w mayo no sauce with tomatos. Hubbies is reg meatball. It’s All Great. Mange!

My husband and I love getting take-out dinners. The spaghetti and ravioli meals are so good. They include cheesy bread and salad. It hits the spot! We also really enjoy stocking up on their specialty blue cheese salad dressing.

They have a small menu… not many options. The food was okay… better than I expected, but not quite good enough to go back. :(Plus $ 10 for a sandwich is a little much in my opinion.

I used to go to the one in North Sacramento and it’s been many years since I had one of their salami & cheese with all the fixings. So yesterday on my way drive back to San Jose, I stopped in for one to eat on the way home. The first thing I noticed was the lady behind the counter. She’s the owner with her husband and they both were so nice & friendly to talk to. The best part was that she remembered me! I ordered the usual for old time sake and enjoyed it so much on my journey home.
