This is a great place for locals, beer $ 5, we usually go over to watch baseball or Warriors games. One time the bar tender even held/chilled a open beer for my husband so he could go check on the dog at home and walk back to Ana’s.

LOVETHISPLACE! I’ve been living in st helena for a year and they have the best staff, great DJ’s and a really fun energetic vibe. If you are visiting this place is a must. Play pool or throw some dollars on the ceiling!

One star only because I cant give a zero. Bartender Kat refused service to myself and my companion because she had a personal issue with him in the past. I asked to be served and she refused to serve me because of my companion saying I was overly aggresive because I asked why she was refusing to serve him. I asked for a coors light with pep in my step and a smile on my face. She continued to refuse service. At this point I was irritated but not agitated. I asked again and she said she was calling the PD. By the way Im the calmest person in the bar with a whole 7 other patrons(which should have been a sign to leave) The PD showed up and while talking told me Id get diarrhea by drinking in such a dive bar, Id be better served and not have the shits if I drank elsewhere. So we went down the street(in the rain) and drank elsewhere. Any attorney who would a client who was resfused service without warrant or ABC want to know about compliance please contact me. I will let you know if I obtain counsel.

Stopped in for the first time today as I wanted to see some of the Warriors game. They had a great selection of stout beers and 3 large TV screens. Bartenders were very friendly. I wasn’t sure if the woman bartender was Ana but she was a beautiful lady; not only attractive but very genuine in spirit. I definitely will go back soon. By the way, they do have chips and salsa, but the salsa needs a pinch of salt in every dip:)

Huge letdown. Ventured out to Napa Valley with my girlfriend for my 23rd birthday today. 12⁄28. We’re from the East Bay and haven’t made it out to Napa yet, therefore we decided to come up to celebrate. We had a great dinner in Napa, however, the inn we are staying at is in Saint Helena. We wanted to celebrate some more after checking in so we looked up some places. Came across Ana’s Cantina, appeared like a decent dive bar, especially since there is hardly anything else around. Took an Über to the bar, ready to drink… spend $$$ of course… And then I end up getting denied by the bartender due to his lack of an even decent eyesight. Apparently my ID was not permissible. This was the first ever time I’ve had a problem with my ID, granted I look younger in the picture, it’s clearly me. The bartender was very sarcastic and rude, and didn’t help us with any other options whether it be another bar, or at least a gas station.(This happened around midnight) So, my girlfriend and I had to walk back to our Inn in the cold, drive back to Napa, and pick up our own drinks at a 7⁄11. Optimistically, I’m glad I didn’t give my money to such a shoddy dive bar, and am currently drinking my wine by the fireplace finishing up this review perfectly content. Won’t recommend this place. I guess they don’t like tourists.

WOW, WOW, WOW, What a cesspool this place they call a cantina is! We came in with my family to have some drinks. As we were seated I went to use the restroom. On my journey to bathroom I saw a mouse, cockroach and what appeared to be a large rat !!!eeeeew!!! I grabbed my family and got out of their fast… This place needs to be shut down by the health board!

We’re from out of town, were driving by and it looked like it might be a fun stop. We noticed sign saying Karaōke on Thursdays. We love to sing and try to find places to sing in our travels. I called to verify, was told yes it would start at nine. We got there at 8:30. Host did not start until 9:30, and when he did he announced«DJ request hour» meaning karaōke wouldn’t start til 10:30! Not what we were expecting!

We took a break from wine tasting and popped into Ana’s for {to be honest} a sugar-free Redbull. Wine tasting was starting to make me sleepy and we had a delicious dinner to stay awake for! This is a total dive bar and local hangout. It was fantastic! The bartender told us that they’re the only bar in downtown St. Helena that stays open until 2AM so it is definitely hopping at nighttime! They have tons of TVs for watching sports and if you’re hungry, bring in your own food! They’ll even heat it up for you but they don’t serve any food there. It’s tradition to throw a $ 1 bill on their ceiling {…it looks much harder than it is, they have a trick!} so of course we had to add a #pearsonparty dollar bill to their collection. This place was so fun!

We actually picked this place after reading the absolutely hilarious review from Kent L. below. Since he sounded like an a** and promised never to come back we felt safe. Haha! In town and meeting friends later for brunch, I settled my hubby and his buddy in at the bar to watch some football while I got in some shopping time! First though, I enjoyed a fabulous Bloody Mary and conversation with the sweetest bartender. The people working there are kind, gracious, generous, hard-working people. They took great care of the boys and kept them adequately distracted so I could do just a little damage in the St. Helena shops ;). Go– have a great time– and say a toast to Kent L. for us!

This place is super awesome. The staff are friendly and personable. The divey feel and random décor reminds me of bars on Capitol Hill in Seattle. It’s an approachable and laid back bar in the midst of all the fancy, upscale wine country businesses. Now don’t get me wrong, I love a classy tasting room or décor shop just as much as the next person, but sometimes I just want to relax and let my hair down. Take a break from the wine and throw back a cold one or two. The bartender was super cute and friendly, she told us all about the history of the bar and about local breweries. She even pulled out an old photo album of the place. They have a pretty good selection of beers on draft and tap, and drinks are pretty cheap. There was an older woman there as well, I’m not sure if she was the owner, but she was also very friendly. She was talking with another customer, then came over and told my friend and I that he has been a regular for over 10 years! The bartender was talking with the gentleman as well, they seem to take good care of their regulars. The ceiling and walls are littered with money! Definitely ask the bartender how they get the dollars up there. It’s quite a fun and entertaining method. It’ll cost you at least a dollar to find out how, but you’ll be glad you asked :-). Plus the money gets donated to a charity every other year.

Really cool bar. Lotsa fun and lotsa locals and I’m one of ‘em! The bartenders are all friendly and they can even recommend a place to eat in town depending on your preferences. Drinks are good. If Michael is working, try one of his made from scratch margaritas. They’re great! It’s pretty quiet during the day. Night time can be hit or miss. Just try it. Oh, BTW, use the back door. There’s a new rookie cop in town and the little shit stakes out the bar and waits for people to leave so he can try to arrest them for DUI. Take it from me. He followed me from my parking space around the corner after I left from the front door to a pizza place 2 blocks away. He waited in an empty parking lot then confronted me. I had to walk around town for 2 hrs before it was safe for me to go home. I’m a local just letting other locals and tourists to watch out for the St. Helena PD. Snakes… all of them.

We came here after a lunch down the road to watch the football playoffs. When you enter, it is pretty much the definition of a dive. One of the first thing we noticed was the dollar bills stuck to the ceiling. There are hundreds of not thousands. Turns out it is a tradition and they donate the money thrown up there. A pretty cool thing. The bartender was there by himself but was able to keep about 15 to 20 of us with full drinks and some free chips they have out. Not sure if there were any regulars but the people that were there were very friendly This is definitely a dive I would come back to to try the food or just stop by to have a drink again

I dunno, pricey drinks for a place that smells. Hard to pin it on this one. Gutted for sure but if you know the area the douchebag level is high tho.

This place is a DUMP! It is run by whack-o nut jobs and it is FILTHY!!! Maybe they just want«locals» and that is fine with me because as a money spending«tourist»(who just happens to pass through St Helena about once a month) I wont be back!!! We came to this place with a large group as an «after party» for a rehearsal diner. My first impression was«EWW» but then I didn’t pick it, I was with a group. After the first round I approached the bar and ordered a second round for about 8 of the people in our party. In the middle of making our water downed overpriced cocktails but before delivering them the bartender informed me that we were«cut off». When I asked him«why»(several times) he would not give me an answer! I talked to him, the doorman(who came over and said something to the bartender while he was making the drinks), and finally the owner(at least I was lead to believe it was the owner — a REAL nut job). None of them would say anything except that we were cut off… no one was drunk and we were all just dancing to the DJ tunes. The people in our party are all professionals, were dressed nicely, were behaving appropriately, and were completely under control… what a joke of a «Bar» All I wanted was an answer and a chance to understand what the perceived problem was… what I got was disrespect and rudeness. Needless to say, we wont be back.

Nice little dive here in St. Helena! I just met Tim the bar tender who is awesome btw! Then inquired about the money tacked to the ceiling. He said it will cost you a dollar to find out how it gets up there. Well I am a sucker for anything of this nature… Well my dollar is now on the ceiling!!! I guess you all will have to come in and find out for yourself how its done… All the money gets donated to charity so it is worth asking how you can get your dollar up there too… Lots of fun to be had here!!! Keep it going! No fussy people allowed!!! Whoop woop!

This place was pretty dead. We went here 2 nights while we were staying in St Helena and I was amazed at how empty it was. Maybe it gets fun later? We were there from like 8pm — 11pm across the different nights and it wasn’t ever too exciting. The place was adequately appointed. It’s a dive bar but that’s what they’re going for. The pool table in the back is fun, they charge you $ 1 each round. Drinks were average priced. They ran out of Shock Top after I had 1 glass and when I went back the next night they still didn’t have it back in stock. So basically, since this is the only bar in St Helena, if you have nowhere else to go I guess this works, but really you might just be better hanging out at home.
