Great dinning experience. Staff were super friendly. Best crabcakes I’ve ever had… Fresh and tasty. We were sitting in the patio area… Very nice ambience, romantic. My husband ordered the hanger steak… ITWASDELICIOUS… No sauce. Best hanger steak. Overall it was a great experience. I would recommend it to anyone.

Me my wife and a friend had dinner here at the Press. We all had a steak which was very tasty. The Chopped and Bibb salads we ate were nothing special for $ 31 bucks total. The Press potato cake for $ 11 was tasteless. The $ 18 Truffle Mac and Cheese was bathed in so truffle oil it was disgusting. The $ 16 Hen of the woods mushrooms, were the highlight of the evening besides there multitudes of great Red Wine selections. The $ 18 Chocolate soufflé was a good French style desert but lacking flavor. We also tried the fresh Strawberry shortcake desert, which was dry and boring for another $ 18. I have to say, for spending almost $ 500.00 for a dinner meal here at the«Press» we were very much disappointed. At the end our dinner experience except for the wine we shared, I felt ripped off. My experience two years earlier was totally different one. Everything was perfect. When you spend that kind on money for food and walked away never wanting to return. That about sums up our evening dinning experience. All the left overs we took home with us when into the trash can, except my Steak and bread.

We went on a Sunday night and more than half the tables were empty. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. The sommelier was overly stuffy and not friendly at all. Made ordering wine a bit uncomfortable, weird since we were in Napa. The rib eye was delicious and the porterhouse steak was delicious! The truffle Mac and cheese is a must try but serving is enough for 5 people. The seafood tower was very fresh and satisfying. Great restaurant

I absolutely loved everything about Press Restaurant. The dining experience outdoors, the service and the food was delish. They set up our table so beautifully. The food is so artful and I would say one of the very best experiences I have ever had at a restaurant.

We arrived a bit early so we joined Happy Hour @ Bar. $ 1 OYSTERs!!! What a deal! Bacon tasting is interesting menu. After we all enjoyed appetizer at the bar, moved to dining table. Dry-Aged New York Strip was perfectly cooked on wood-fired grill and it has a great smokey and Aged meat flavor. Truffles Mac cheese was good choice from the sides.

This place is crazy delicious for vegetarians. I’m giving it four stars since our omnivore friends didn’t have perfect food like we did. Since we love high-end dining with friends and we don’t eat meat, we are always looking at great steak houses that offer delicious sides. The bread basket is as good as most reviews say and worth trying even if you’re in the anti-flour camp. First, we had the chopped salad sans bacon. The salad was perfect and crispy with little chunks of apples for a perfect amount of sweetness. My friend had the standard chopped salad with bacon, and there was too much bacon. I think there was more bacon than lettuce. While my husband and I finished our salads(yum!), she spent most of the time picking bacon out and had made a decent pile by the time the server collected her plate. She actually said, «I love bacon, but that was ridiculous.» They also had the lobster cocktail, which was a half Maine lobster, in the shell, served with cocktail sauce. It seemed fine for $ 29. For dinner, my husband and I did the usual and had sides. We had the grilled asparagus, the kale, the Hen of the Woods mushrooms, and the creamed spinach. I avoid dairy, so I asked the server to describe the«cream» and it came mostly as he described, with the cream mostly in the bottom of the spinach dish. It was perfect for me, but I imagine others who are expecting a typical creamed spinach might be disappointed. The kale and asparagus were both perfect and yummy. The Hen of the Woods mushrooms were for SURE the BEST mushrooms any of us had ever tasted. They did have a chicken-like texture and they were seasoned perfectly. Our one omnivore friend had the pork chop, which he had to send back since it was under cooked. Our other omnivore friend had the appetizer crab and lobster cake as an entrée and it was nice to see a cake that wasn’t heavily breaded and friend. In fact, it had no breading at all and she said it was amazing, not fishy and naturally rich. We tried the chocolate soufflé, which was less delicious than expected. Our friends had a salted caramel sundae, and we all ended up eating that. :) Overall, this was my favorite restaurant during our most recent trip to the Napa Valley.

My favorite restaurant when in the wine country. We dined there on 4÷6÷16 and as usual it was impeccable. We had the Cote de Boeuf for 2 and all I can say is amazing. The potato dish was average and was immediately taken off the bill. I am a huge fan of their mules which contain homemade ginger beer… go Kentucky Mule!!! Breanna was are server and she was a delight. Great evening!!! Oh, and a spectacular wine list.

Such an elegant rustic setting. We sat in the best seat in the house(table flanking the fireplace) and were treated like royalty. It was our anniversary dinner and they made it extra special. Their wine list is quite extensive and presented in an iPad that is easy to navigate. Their wedge salad was magnificent yet not traditional. Loved the twist. The carrot soup was interesting but the highlight was the filet mignon. Holy cow! Cooked to perfection and so tender. You must order the mushrooms to accompany! The woodsy flavor a are unbelievable with the steak. We also ordered creamed spinach and potato cake, also fab and very complimentary to the steak. Highly recommend Press if you like good food and wine!

This has been my favorite restaurant since I found it 5 years ago and will continue to be my favorite for years to come because it never disappoints. Best steak I have ever had. Hands down. The steaks always have the perfect char and moist center. The flavors are mouth watering. While you can order some devine sauces to add on top, the steak speaks for itself and doesn’t need one The sides and starters are equally phenomenal. I dream about these flavors. What also make this restaurant stand out is the service. My boyfriend and i had always had excellent service. We love everyone we have met there. Steven and Tyler are both so incredibly kind and go the extra mile to make sure you enjoy your experience. We found press on our first trip to Napa as a couple and now are looking to book our rehearsal dinner here(that’s how much we love the food and staff!). If you are looking for an overall great dining experience in the Napa valley you have to try Press!

Oh my gosh… where do I even begin… I have found my new dinner place. I spent the whole day wine tasting at local wineries… something I do every weekend… and this was my first time at Press. I’m in love. We decided to get many different things from the menu and just split all of it. Perfect plan. Started off with the bacon sampler. I didn’t know there was such a thing and I would recommend it to anyone who comes here. We also got the tar tar and the truffle Mac and cheese. The tar tar was amazing. The best I’ve ever had in my life. The flavors were so prominent and very unique, while at the same time not overpowering. It’s rare to find truffle Mac that actually tastes how it should, and good lord they did it. You can actually see the truffles mixed in with the cheese. Also order the backed cauliflower with romenesco and the potato pancake. Once again, such amazing unique flavors that really excentuated the freshness of the ingredients. I brought a bottle of wine with me from a local winery. They opened it for me and kept the glasses full for the entire meal. I have definitely found my new favorite place.

We came to Press for Valentine’s Dinner and it was Delicious! The cote de boeuf is a must try. Just a little tip, it takes quite a long time to cook, so if you know you want that, order it right away! We started with a mixture of west coast oyster. Each was fresh and delicious. The beef tartar, is top notch. The seasoning, the egg on top, the chips, it is seriously perfection. Since the Côte de boeuf was going to take a while, the kitchen sent us out, the chicken liver pâté, and it was one of the best I’ve had. The shining star of the meal was the boeuf, we ordered it medium rare plus,(my husband is a med-rare guy, I am a medium girl, so med-rare plus is our happy meeting place) and it was cooked to perfection! The flavor was on point. We ordered a little chimichurri sauce, which was an excellent addition to the steak. Being that we are in Napa, you would expect restaurants to have an extensive wine list and Press does not disappoint. Since it was our first«married» Valentines Day, we decided to splurge and ordered a 40 year old bottle of our favorite wine. It did not disappoint. The bottle is so special, they offered it to us to take home and we did. It will be a treasure in our home. The food at Press is really excellent. The ambiance is fantastic and the service top notch! Stop by when you are in Napa.

Love the vibe. Food is amazing! Steak had rib eye and it was perfect. The Mac and cheese with truffles was delicious! The service was excellent as was the cheese rolls. We did not have wine because we were tasting all day. They have an impressive wine list and many drinks to choose from. I think you will love this choice including the Clock on the wall from an old train station!

Filets were awesome but the service was not so grand. We each had a 8oz filet with truffle mac. Awesome, but no matter how great a dinner may be, bad service can ruin a night. We are from New Orleans and Press is a 3 ½ star at best. The outside service was very quick and observant(wine crew). We never sat with an empty glass.

UnimPRESSed I used to work in the Napa Valley and used to dismiss any client’s view that there was an air of pretension in the area. I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone, unless you want to experience this pretension at its finest. Press is one of those restaurants that is always listed as a destination location for the Napa Valley. Touted as a fine dining cuisine with a country-family style couldn’t be further off. Just because the restaurant had bacon infused butter doesn’t mean it is country style. I went there for my birthday. A nice family gathering. We put our card down for a table for 8($ 25 per person cancellation fee) and we’re all set. To their credit, part of our party showed up late, I will give them that. People are working, others are driving in from all over California, they have every right to be a little upset about our punctuality. However, get over that. My girlfriend baked me a cake and sure it isn’t customary to bring a cake to a restaurant but hey it was my birthday. Right when we walked in they asked to take the cake to be served later. Come to find out when we get the bill that they charged $ 7.00 a person for a «plating fee» THEYNEVERTOLDUS! Hey, $ 20 bucks, that would work, that’s understandable but $ 42 to put cake on a plate… really? But that’s not it. For the entire meal we were greeted with sarcastic comments, uninterested and angry responses and just plain rude behavior. The overpriced bacon platter was good, but was it worth $ 18 for 5 slices of bacon? Then there was the veggie player which had maybe 1 gram of vegetables combined sticking out of a ice sheet. Really? Then the rest of the overpriced meal had good food, but that was it, it was just good. The fact is, food is cooked and made with an experience. Especially in Napa Valley, the food and wine is only supplemental to the experience that people are seeking. New and innovative food stands on its own even irrespective of the service. Press didn’t have that. Had the experience been pleasant, of course the food would’ve tasted better – it always seems to happen. But for the dishes that are«pretty good» any form of true enjoyment and expressive food adventures are crushed in loud staff sighs, rolled eyes, and bad talking your guests. Look Napa pretension, you are an agricultural city. 3 blocks away at a winery there are workers literally spreading cow-shit for fertilizer all over. Remember that next time before you stick up your noses.

We had the oysters that were absolutely amazing, their version of a Caesar salad was some of the best I’ve had. The steak tartar was insane!!! If you like that kind of thing, don’t pass this one up, speechless really! The wagyu steak with sautéed mushrooms was by far the best steak I’ve had in the valley EVER. Props to the service as well, this place is doing it all right, wow!!! GO

Press Seemed tired this time around. The food was okay, in that the baked chicken was tasty, the fillet pretty good, but the salmon and sturgeon really boring and close to tasteless. The corkage fee of $ 30/bottle is just crazy.(We paid $ 15/bottle the next night) We’ve enjoyed Press before, but not this time around and would not rush back.

Press is a St. Helena favorite for steak, located right along the main road of wineries. The ambience fits the farmhouse feel of a lot of Napa Valley establishments, but of course the food is elevated and brings California class to the typical steakhouse. They start you off with an amazing basket of freshly baked bread. We were in the first seating, so the bread had literally just come straight out of the oven, almost too hot to touch. The highlight of the basket is the roll, comparable to Asian milk bread but with a delicious buttery crust. My boyfriend went with a steak and I decided to order the sturgeon given how many breadsticks I’d eaten over the course of a day of wine-tasting. We also ordered a side of creamed spinach and truffle mac and cheese. The sturgeon was cooked well, but it wasn’t as spectacular as I was expecting. I did love the summer squash salad that came with it, lightened up with a salsa verde and an added crunch from the almonds. The crispy shallots on top of the creamed spinach was great, and I really appreciated that the spinach wasn’t overly creamy. The truffle mac and cheese is definitely a must-try! I usually can manage a couple bites before I feel weighed down by any mac and cheese, but this one had visible chunks of truffle that gave the dish so much flavor. The cheese to pasta ratio was perfect and the baked cheese crust on top just made it all come together. Steak is definitely the way to go here, and come ready to eat. Their portions are generous and you won’t be able to stop eating from the bread basket!

We visited Press on a Sunday evening. Love the space. High ceilings, cool lighting and a couple of very unique fireplaces. Food was incredible, probably the best mrs we had in the Valley(also visited Redd, Bouchon and Morimoto). I had a NY Strip with truffle Mac and cheese. Steak was cooked perfectly with a great char. No seasonings, just plain old good meat. The truffle Mac was to die for. Creamy Mac and cheese with slivers of truffles throughout(and not just a few truffles, I mean there had to have been an entire truffle in this dish). The wife had the trout which she said was the best fish she’s had in a very long time. Overall, Press was a wonderful experience that I would highly recommend to anyone in the area.

Went here late on a Thursday evening. The place was beautiful and the décor was perfect. I’ve drove past this place so many times but it is completely different on the inside than it looks from the outside. We were seated right away and our server was great. It did take a bit of time to get our drinks and food but it was pretty packed evening and nothing that was outrageous. We had a couple cocktails to start with I had the gin and tonic because they make their own tonic there. It was really good. I tried a couple of the other girls drinks and they were all good. We ended up ordering a pretty nice bottle of wine that our server helped us pick. For the food we started with a salad– I think the apple and bacon salad we split 4 ways and we also got the lobster and crab cake. That crab and lobster cake was AMAZING!!! There was no filling at all just lump crab and lobster. The sauce they served was perfect as well. I honestly thought that was the best dish of the night! For our main course I had the bone in rib eye with chimichurri sauce. I loved the sauce with the steak and the steak was cooked perfectly. It didn’t blow me away but it was delicious none the less. No dessert for us but it did look great. This was a really nice place to go but I would recommend reservations for sure!

Michael Bauer is right on, Press was just added to the SF Chron Top 100 list, and after last night’s dinner there, I know why. Trevor Kunk has brought the flavors to new levels. Cocktails — very nice, loved my GT with home made tonic. Other favorites in our party of 6 were the JETSETTER with owner Leslie Rudd’s No. 209 gin and Aperol, and a Meyer Lemon Pisco Sour. Also some white wines by the glass, very nice. Salads were as fresh as ever. Little Gem lettuce with anchovy dressing and Parmesan cheese, To us, Press is about Brian Flannery’s great USDA Prime beef. For the first time we opted for the Cote de Boeuf, 35 ounces, on the bone, we split among four of us. It was plenty, especially with the sides we ordered. We ordered it rare. Just done perfectly. Our German guests said it was the best piece of beef they had ever had. Agreed The other star was Trevor’s salmon. No plain grilled salmon here, grilled-yes, plain-no. It was laid carefully on a complex sauce of green spring vegetables. Tried to get the recipe, no luck, with details, but ingredients included peas, asparagus, spinach and fava beans pured with vegetable stock, and then finely strained, and the once again the same peas, fava beans, and asparagus with lightly sauteed in butter and mixed in. But there were some other very subtle flavors too, like a touch of cumin, maybe. Our non beef loving guest raved about it. Desserts included a fantastic chocolate soufflé, and a complex crucnhy brownie with wonderful vanilla bean ice cream. The wine list is the best, CA wines only, very long and presented on an ipad, was easy to move around and make some picks. You can do some pretty ice star spotting too. Owner Leslie Rudd was dining there, along with Darioush and Chuck Wagner of Caymus. We;ll be back!
