My girlfriend Gabi made a reservation(through Unilocal) and our Market meal turned out to be the best dinner of 2016 thus far. The general manager Eddie was incredibly welcoming and charismatic, and made sure to check in on us several times throughout the night. The service and food were phenomenal. We started with lobster rolls that included a wonderfully aromatic mint and basil sauce to drizzle on top. For the main course, Gabi ordered the organic chicken breast and I chose the braised short ribs. The chicken had a beautiful crispy skin and was accompanied by perfectly cooked and seasoned sliced roasted potatoes, olives, artichoke hearts and bell peppers. The short ribs literally fell off the bone and was possibly the best-sauced dish I’ve ever had, paired with scrumptious mashed potatoes and perfectly sautéed asparagus. Obviously, we checked the dessert menu and opted for a chocolate ganache cake and a chocolate raspberry cheesecake. Both desserts were fresh, and after savoring each bite we agreed that it was one of the most complete, stunning meals we’ve had the pleasure of eating. Thank you to Eddie and the Market staff for making this the best meal I’ve had all year.

Had a delightful solo dinner at the bar on a busy Thursday night. Even with the place packed, the bartender, Jesse(who was working alone), got me everything I asked for and needed in a timely fashion. The Peppered Filet Medallions were phenomenal and Jesse makes a mean Old Fashioned despite being in the heart of wine country. DONOTLEAVEWITHOUTGETTINGTHEBUTTERSCOTCHPUDDING. All in all, I would eat here every night if I could.

Great food, better service. My family and I stopped in after checking on other reviews. They had a diverse menu that suited our ages from 8 to 36. We were dressed in t-shirts and jeans and although just slightly underdressed were welcomed and treated quite well. We very much appreciate the staff and the hospitality. 4 for the food, 5 for the service.

Nice lunch place along the main drag in St. Helena. I had the fish tacos which were fine but not entirely flavorful. It came with some garlic sauce and a pico– both very good. My wife had the blt wrap. The tacos didn’t have a side so I had a few bites of her wrap. It was really good and I should have gotten it. The tortilla was soft and had a nice flavor to it and the lettuce, tomato, cheese and red onion was a nice medley. The price is just about right, especially for the area. We’d go back again.

Gorgeous restaurant in St. Helena. I’ve been here a dozen times and each time I’ve been impressed. Loved the mushroom ravs, Mac n cheese and of course, the homemade smore platter. Yum! Beautiful bar area as well. Wonderful place to stop in for lunch with a friend, or for date night too.

Did you know that if you call your restaurant Market you make it weirdly difficult for people to find it on Unilocal by searching its name? Something to keep in mind, all you people looking to open restaurants called Market. My husband and I came here for a casual lunch during a decadent weekend in Napa Valley. We wanted a simple sit-down meal to tide us over an afternoon of wine tasting. We were able to book a table for two with no difficulty, just a couple hours before we went in at 11:30 on the Sunday of MLK weekend. The restaurant wasn’t busy when we got there, but it did fill up – mostly with old people – by the time we left. It was a nice place, gently upscale with white tablecloths and good, attentive service. Probably would’ve been a good spot to linger with a bottle of wine, but we abstained in deference to the day of drinking ahead. The food was solid. In lieu of a bread basket, we got a complimentary basket of mini muffins made with cereal, orange zest, and raisins, served with some soft whipped butter. These were delightful, and we could’ve gotten more if we weren’t worried about filling up on them. I’d been eating and drinking like mad all weekend, so my stomach was in a weird state between utter fullness and utter hunger. I decided to keep things light but not too light, and ordered a cup of mushroom soup and the lobster roll, which were listed as «on the lighter side.» Both were pretty good. The porcini mushroom soup was flavorful and not too thick or creamy, as it was made with vegetable broth. The lobster roll was presented like a sushi cut roll, with lobster, papaya, avocado, and asparagus wrapped in rice paper, with a basil-mint dipping sauce on the side. This tasted good but was even more unsubstantial than expected, with very little lobster meat. My husband went for the Market burger, and this was probably the better lunch. It was a juicy burger with a thick patty and Fiscalini cheddar, served with a side of crispy fries. Market was a good choice for a casual sit-down lunch in St. Helena. I don’t know that it was a standout, but I liked the place, and I’d probably go often if I lived in the area.

Service is 5 star. My salad was excellent and another in my party had the chicken sandwich. The chicken sandwich received top compliments as well.

My first time here and it’s great! We got the mushroom ravioli, the short ribs, and the Market salad – all were fantastic! A little on the pricey side, but worth every bit. We had the cognac espresso tiramisu for dessert, which was amazing!

Market zero, smokey. If that doesn’t mean anything to you, I apologize. I just can’t help it when I see or hear the word market. Or the phrase ‘mark it’. It just comes out. You know what else just comes out? The great food from this kitchen. I know what you’re thinking. That WAS a fabulous transition. My lady and I came here for an early lunch that we would have called breakfast if it was up to us. But this isn’t McDonald’s — ahem, the new McDonald’s — you can’t order breakfast all day. In fact, they don’t even have breakfast food. So you can’t order breakfast period. That’s okay. It’s not a breakfast restaurant. I accept that. I am not a jukebox. Nor am I a Ferrari. We aren’t some things and we are some other things. That’s life. I ordered the burger and asked to have no cheese, and to add bacon. I got the burger and it had no bacon but a big melted slab of cheese that I had to scrape off. I don’t mind scraping it off. I am an adult. I can deal with suboptimal food conditions. But in general, if you don’t write down an order and then you screw it up, you are just asking for criticism. I am all for the guys and girls who have great short term memory and want to flex their brain muscles in front of me and my lady. I can’t even remember the name of what I intend on ordering, needing to refer to the menu when asked what I want just to make sure I know what I want. I have terrible short term memory. But if I was a server, I would then have a little notepad and I would use it so that I didn’t accidentally give the guy who asked for a no cheese bacon burger a basic cheeseburger with no bacon. Notebooks help you with that kind of stuff. Nevertheless, I’d come back here. Just with lower expectations.

We came for an early dinner last night(family visiting, still on East Coast time). Despite a nearly-empty restaurant, it took 25 minutes to receive our bottle of wine, water, and bread. The table next to us, seated 10 minutes after us, received their appetizers and mains long before we did. In short, the service was slow and disappointing. About the food: everything had an overdone, overdressed quality. With delicious vegetables available so close to the restaurant, I don’t understand the need to do so much and not extremely well. Sad that the best part of the meal was the store-bought marshmallow shared by the woman at the next table.

The market was a recommendation to us so we cancelled at JoLe and headed there on our last night in town. The vibe is really nice, not too swanky and not at all shabby. We were sat in the window for maximum nosey content also. Wifey had the Halibut and I went with the ribs. All I can say is check out the pics I posted. I have never had ribs where you didn’t need to use my hands or a knife so god only knows how long they were cooking for. If we stopped at just mains we would have been in heaven but we were also enticed by apparently ‘the best voted sweet in the whole of Napa’. A from scratch butterscotch desert. … It was nice but didn’t make my knees tremble, sort of like Birds Angel Delight(butterscotch flav) in a waffle cone. Hey, you can’t please everyone but this was a marvelous recommendation, sublime ribs but the pudding fell a little short of the build up :-)

Excellent traditional American restaurant. We’ve tried fried calamari, fried shrimps, fish and chips, fish taco, crab meat salad, lobster rolls, grilled chicken sandwiches… Everything we tried is super. See photos. Service is added plus. Highly recommended.

3.5 stars Since we all agreed not to go to Gott’s roadside, we consulted Unilocal on a decent place to have a sit down lunch on the way to our next wine stop in Calistoga. Market was available on opentable too. I always crave for something heavy to soak up the Jesus Juice whenever I’m in wine country. A MMMeaty burger with fries fit the ball. Market uses ½ lb. Niman Ranch beef patty topped with cheddar and grilled onions. Perfectly seasoned and cooked to my liking and not bad for $ 14. Others were not as satisfied with their bland fried chicken breast or just felt ok with the small fish tacos. I usually bump it up a notch with attentive service and Market does great in that area. Kudos to the staff. I wouldn’t mind stopping by again next time — St. Helena is such a charming town.

Good beef, nice location and ambiance however the uneven cooking put a damper on the evening. I’ve read that three thing make a nice restaurant: coffee, bread and the basic burger. My burger at this restaurant sucked. I asked for medium and received rare. In fact, my friends burgers were under cooked as well. The friends were able to palette their meal. My gluten free or bun-less burger was just a rare burger patty, seared at the edges. Great, I’m sure if you like red in the middle, rare. It’s like playing roulette when you go out for a meal. It can be hit or miss however, with a tried and true restaurant, the odds are minimized. Unfortunately, the roulette wheel spun and it was my turn for a meal that was off. We received our food and all discovered the disappointment. I thought that I ordered incorrectly, so I engaged the manager. Of course, offering to reheat however, my meat patty was 4 little pieces, never to the the same and sure to be overcooked. Returning food in general, allows another opportunity for more people to touch my food. The fear of something unsavory happening is an unfortunate possibility. I plugged along with friends and conversation, overly salted fries and delicious pickles. After a few minutes, the manage again asked if I would like a reheat and just as I was about to say yes —(it was so red inside that it was not pleasant to look at), I noticed my friends were finished with their burgers. Remembrances of past meals with similar circumstances found the dinner party halted until the arrival of the new meal. At that meal, friend played with their food rather than eating in front of the one person or offering food to occupy their time. Our food got cold in the meantime and no one finished their meal. It was more of a bother to deal with a circumstanced and knowing the kitchen staff doesn’t know the difference between med. rare, medium and medium well. Our hastened meal dragged out even longer as we waited for the check. When a restaurant fails to deliver, I’m reluctant to return. I had an off-night experience. I will think twice before returning. There are so many other restaurants in the Napa Valley that offer consistent meal service. There really is no reason to return. I had been a customer for some years but I will think twice before returning. Even if I return, I’m sure I will recant the experience and insist upon the entre cooked to order.

Based on the reviews below this place must be bomb, so I was excited to try it out. The restaurant is located on Main Street in St. Helena, with high ceilings, brick-exposed walls, and a great looking bar. Nice and modern! Service was very comforting and attentive. You are seated right away and the staff is very professional. Sadly, the food that night couldn’t keep up with experience. My ORGANICFRIEDCHICKEN for enormous $ 20 was rather small, in fact I expected chicken breast but got two thighs. The crust around the thighs was too rich and tasted stale. The meat proportion vs bone and crust was probably 30 – 70 — sadly a fail. The table further ordered the MARKETBURGER($ 14) which was decently sized and good in taste(made with niman ranch beef) and the GARLICFRIES. The SOFTFISHTACOS($ 14) came on a large plate but were rather tiny. Overall an okay experience in a nice setting — a tad too pricey for the amount of food you get.
