On a local’s recommendation, went here for lunch. Overpriced for standard fare. $ 15 for a blah salad with chicken. Kids meals are fries and fried chicken. Kids spaghetti and meatballs is fettuccine with 1 meatball. Disappointing!

We stopped here for lunch on our way to Calistoga. We had never been there before nor heard anything about it. We’re glad we stopped. I had the fish and chips and must say it was the best I’d ever had. Flaky tender fist with a very light breading. My wife had the chicken sandwich and it was equally as good. The service was just as good as the food too. We will surely stop there again.

Beer was good. Food was disappointing. Neiman Ranch beef on roll for was so overdone it may well have been cremated. French fries were undercooked and so greasy I could wring them out. Server’s reaction — «Sorry» This place is slated to close in November. Easy to see why.

This place was nice, however it wasn’t that busy(Sunday) and somehow we kept getting out servers switched around. Which was confusing for them, they kept coming out(diff ones) and asking the same thing as the previous. Luckily we were all pretty calm and cheerful that this minor detail didn’t bother us. The Food: Their Oyster Sauce is worth keeping, and ordering more bread to dip in. Their Calamari is yummy but nothing special. Their Buffalo Wings are every man dying to get away from their wives kisses dream. p.s they de-cork one bottle for free.

My San Francisco skin is starved for some Vitamin D(damn the thick fog!) and en route to our wine tasting, we stopped by for lunch here and sat ourselves outside. Their patio is very inviting, even though a bit noisy since it’s next to the main road. But the trees block out some of the road noise and shade you from the heat, while you dine on simple American fare and imbibe on beer or cocktails. An Oatmeal Stout for him and a dirty Arnie(vodka!) for me. We noshed on steamed mussels in a roasted red pepper broth with garlic bread, blueberry spinach salad and the silverado burger. The food was good and prices were moderate for wine country. The bf didn’t think the beer was a standout, but cocktails were good for a brewery.(I had two!) Will keep this on our rotation for casual eats when we’re in St. Helena.

From the road, this is a very attractive brewpub with some outside seating — it looks like wine country. If you didn’t know any better, you’d mistake it for another winery’s tasting room. We didn’t try any food, as we had reservations elsewhere in a couple hours, but the menu looks decent, with a wide array of ribs, burgers, sandwiches, pasta, etc — good old American brewpub food. But that’s enough of that, as we were here solely to give the beer a try. As always, any trip to an unfamiliar brewpub or tasting room means I’m ordering a sampler. Situated in California, with creative breweries abound, the tap list here comes off as rather conservative. Blond ale, hefeweizen, pale ale, amber ale, oatmeal stout. My critique here is, step out of that comfort zone a little bit. There’s nothing wrong with those styles… it’s just that it takes a knock-it-out-of-the-park awesome pale ale or oatmeal stout to impress beer people, as those styles are so common. For what it’s worth, I thought the hefeweizen was pretty well-brewed — but the pale ale didn’t have that green, hoppy punch one would expect, fresh from the source. I’d like to see these guys taking after Russian River and doing some wine barrel-aged beers. In this location, it almost begs for it. With the abundant number of wineries around, it shouldn’t be too difficult to grab some used barrels.

Food and beer were quite tasty! I came here for a wedding rehearsal dinner last week. We basically took over the restaurant, and definitely took over their parking lot with our 140+ person party. The patio area was a nice place to mingle and catch up with other guests. Our hosts had an open bar with the various beers on tap as well as a signature cocktail: the Dirty Arnie(lemonade with sweet tea vodka). I tried the pale ale, which was fairly tasty with a nice finish. But I really liked the Dirty Arnie! The sweet tea was sweet enough to hide the unpleasant bite that you usually get from hard liquor. And it packed quite the punch! I didn’t quite make it through two of them. :) The food took a while to get there, but I could tell that the kitchen was pretty small so we probably overwhelmed them with our sheer numbers and hungry looks. I tried the calamari, which was decent and had a great spicy aioli dipping sauce. The only problem was that there weren’t enough toothpicks and those suckers were hard to stab. It also came with breaded slices of fennel and red bell peppers. Those were hard to discern because everything breaded looks the same. I also liked the spinach and jalapeño stuffed mushroom caps. Not too spicy, but just enough kick to whet the appetite. There were also some goat cheese topped flatbreads that I did not try. Everyone seemed to enjoy the appetizers, and there were plenty to go around. For dinner we all had the same thing: The slow smoked pork ribs and some awesome BBQ chicken. Both were tender and flavorful. I especially enjoyed the chicken which was cooked through but still fall off the bone and super juicy. These were accompanied by baked beans, cole slaw, sweet potato fries, and cheddar biscuits. The sweet potato fries were crisp and delicious. The cole slaw actually needed a bit more dressing/mayo. The beans were okay. I enjoyed the biscuits but thought that they could have used a bit more moisture and cheddar flavor. I ended up slathering them in butter, but they were still a bit bland. Dessert is not usually my favorite course, but I really enjoyed the one we were served. It was a homemade ice cream sandwich using rich and moist dark chocolate cookies and vanilla ice cream. It was accompanied by a drizzle of dark cherry sauce and cherry chunks and candied pecans. The only thing that detracted from my enjoyment was the topping of a chiffonade of fresh mint that seem to muddle the flavors a bit. I finished the whole thing. I’d definitely consider returning to Silverado Brewing Company if I were in the mood for a lower key meal in what can usually be very upscale and expensive Napa Valley. The food and drink were good, and the atmosphere was laid back. It was a great venue for a giant wedding rehearsal dinner.

Good food. Our server was a bit over-eager, but the food and wine were on point with the Napa flavor we were beginning to grow accustomed to. This appears to be a stop on the tour bus circuit and there was a senior bus dropping off as we were departing and I have never seen so many walkers in one location in my life(except maybe at the airport boarding a Fort Lauderdale flight). The grounds are beautiful, but the environment was very generic. The food was decent but nothing I can even really remember right now. It was A-OK, but not spectacular.

I have a great affection for this place. I’m in the wine industry and there are some days there’s nothing I want more than a BEER! They have a great selection of beers, and usually a seasonal addition or two. They let you taste before you buy also if you’re not sure. My default is almost always the Oatmeal Stout — its rich and warm. I tend to be there for lunch or a break from work so I always opt for their Wimp(10oz) glass rather than a full pint. The food is great pub food. The Spring Rolls are a nice alternative for a light lunch, always ask for specials too, as you’ve seen some of the staff is a bit sub-par. For big plates the pulled pork is delicious. If you’re still hungry(or can bribe someone to split it with you) the stout float is an awesome dessert! The missing star is only for service, you do need to ask for what you want, but they’re pretty good about getting you out quickly if you need. I tend to sit in the bar or outside.

We stopped here after doing a tasting at our favorite vineyard, craving some hearty food(we hadn’t eaten a single thing). We’d noticed this place on the way to Calistoga and wanted to check it out, being the beer snobs in wine country that we are. The food. Was. Amazing. Like oh my god, amazing, we had wings to start and then two of us had some of the best burgers ever while the other had a lamb burger(and didn’t stop raving about it for the next 24 hours). Service was friendly and knowlegable, the place was cute and really the burgers were amazing. The beer, however, was terrible. Like wow. We were surprised at just how bad it was. But, being wine country and having amazing burgers we could’t complain. Definitely worth trying for the food but stick to soda for your drinks!

This brewery has taken over the historic Freemark Abbey stone building in St. Helena(Napa Valley). They serve up a good variety of food options, have an extensive bar and good wine list… But let’s face it people, I came for the beer. In the land of Wine and Cheese this craft brewery gives good contrast and variety for those that can accept the full range of tastes on their palate. The service here is friendly and helpful. I decided to order up a sample of each of their brews. The results are in: Blonde Ale —(3⁄10): too malty, light. Kölsh —(3⁄10): dry, has the feel of a German brew, but executed poorly. Amber Ale —(5⁄10): malty, sweet with notes of caramel. Pale Ale —(5⁄10): Flat tasting, malt, moderate hops. Oatmeal Stout —(5⁄10): oats, malt and barley grains noted with a light finish. DIPA —(8⁄10): This one was in another league compared to the others. It was naturally very hoppy like DIPAs should, but it was also very smooth and dangerously drinkable. St. Euphorius Abbey Ale —(6⁄10): malty, nutty, chocolate notes. Intriguing brew. The solids: Had the BBQ Pulled pork with mashed potatoes and slaw. I wasn’t very impressed with the sandwich and slaw, but the mashed potatoes were good(and thankfully made from scratch). Overall this venue is in a nice location in the heart of Napa Valley. The brews and food are respectable enough to make a visit, but I don’t think I would buy the brews in a grocery store. Cheers!

We took a weekend get-away to Calistoga and looked around for a good place to eat dinner on Sat. We actually stopped at 2 restaurants before we got to Silverado. And we were glad that we had dinner there. The restaurant looks really nice outside. Yup, it has the vintage look of the wine country. Once we stepped inside, my bf was a lil bit disappointed because he expected to have our special dinner at a more upscale place than this. Silverado is more casual with a bar filled with people and TVs around. The restaurant actually has 2 sections. One with the bar is more noisy(of course). The other section doesn’t have TVs, and there’s a girl playing guitar. We chose to sit at the table in the first section with the bar and TVs because it seemed more fun. It was Dungen Crab season, so they had a special menu with everything with Dungen Crab. My boyfriend ordered 1 whole crab-griled on salted bed. And I ordered flat iron steak. He has a local beer, and I had a spinach salad. We also shared a tomato soup which we didn’t like too much, but maybe it was just us not liking the style. The crab was awesome. It was really really delicious. Crab was definitely fresh. It had the salt taste but not too salty. It was just right and awesome. We both really liked it. My steak was okay, not too much to wow, but the price was really reasonable too. We didn’t try any appetizer, but they have pretty good appetizers from what I saw from other tables. The service was good, but they were not very attentive. I think their price is a bit cheap for such a good crab If you’re in the area, drive by Silverado and see the banner«Dungen Crab Season,» you should definitely give it a try. It’s totally worth it.

We stopped here on our way out of town from Calistoga to have some lunch. My boyfriend really liked his beer and he was going to order another one, but our service was soooo slow once we got our food. We never were checked on, and I couldn’t ever find our server. I had to find someone to get a refill for my drink. Had to flag down for the bill… etc… To the food… I had the fish and chips. Pretty dang good! Not greasy at all, the breading was good and thin, and the fish was moist and fresh. The dipping sauce was less of a tartar sauce and more of an aioli. The fries were perfect as well! He had a steak plate. He loved it! I had a bite too, and yum! We started with the creole or cajun shrimp. This wasn’t good. It was spicey, but it was super saucy served in the sauce, and the shrimp hadn’t been peeled at all. Just was slopping and had a funny flavor. The food was good for the casual vibe. And the beer was great!

I came here with some co workers for a quick bite to eat. I tried the crab cakes and garlic fries. The crab cakes were quite good, lots of crab and not too much cake… The garlic fries were delicious, crispy and full of garlic, if you get them make sure everyone eats them so you’re all in the same garlicky state.

Gonna give this place a four stars because I think the only down side is the price. Stopped by here after a day of hiking and it was nice to sit down and get some food in me. Ordered a selection of food between our party and everyone seemed to enjoy what they received. The french fries are really good, crisp and resh cut. The hamburger was pretty good, my girlfriend liked it more than me. Their homemade orange cream soda is really nice, not too sweet but a slight sweetness and cream to it, so really enjoyable. The wait staff was really nice, we ate outside and were not ignored. Can’t comment too much on the beer, but I’ve heard it’s decent, there’s a lot of competition in this area for good beer so any place that’s at least«pretty good» is satisfying. The prices are a little high for the food, a lot of the main courses seemed pricey for a brewpub type atmosphere, though it looks like they are more trying to be a brewing/big restaurant because they have a really large dining area inside. Nice stop if you are on your way back into town from a day out in the mountains.

This 2 star update is largely for really bad service last time we were there and the horrific thing they did to an artichoke. Our server forgot to tell us the specials(I only overheard another server reciting them to another table), one which was the aforementioned artichoke. First the good — my spinach salad with fresh blueberries, feta cheese, toasted pumpkin seeds, sliced radishes and cucumbers and a Meyer lemon-poppy seed vinaigrette was nice. I did have the dressing on the side in case they were tempted to drench the greens. My husband’s cheeseburger was a bit better than last time, but still far from excellent. My father-in-law enjoyed his soup(clam chowder) but asked for crackers which were never brought to him. He scarfed the horribly plain and Wonderbread-like white bread given the table instead. Okay, the artichoke. When I overhead the other server talking about an artichoke special, I went in search of our server(he was frequently absent despite there being few customers inside the restaurant and bar or outside) and ordered one. Here’s how to serve the worst artichoke I’ve ever had — first, under cook it so it’s less than al dente(I could barely pull a leaf off and when I tried to scrape the«meat» off the leaf, nothing came off); second, put greasy, limp diced bacon on it; and, third, serve it blue cheese dressing. I like blue cheese and thought it might be okay with an artichoke(I was a bit wary though), but I found it to be a disgusting pairing. I ended up taking the artichoke home and steaming it in a double broiler(to keep it out of water) so it was actually tender enough to eat and made my own balsamic, garlic, herb vinaigrette to dip the leaves and heart in. Our server was mostly absent and the kitchen took an unreasonably long time in getting our food out. I really want this place to prepare better food(their concepts are mostly good, just poor execution) — there are so few«pubs» or breweries near St. Helena.

I came here after an 11 mile hike and the beer on tap was just what I needed. I tasted their Amber Ale which was quite tasty but ended up ordering their Rye Ale which was really tasty! I liked the atmosphere of the bar but the dining area needs some remodeling. The carpet is terrible as well as the lighting. It needs an overhaul. Food was DECENT, nothing to write home about. I’m always annoyed when places charge $ 1.00 extra for cheese on a burger. Kind of lame… Service at the bar was excellent but then in the dining room less than par when we had to ask for water 3 times. I wouldn’t make a special trip back, especially since they don’t have an IPA(wwhhaaa??!), but if I were in the area I’d stop back in for a beer at the bar.

Stopped here for lunch while wine tasting yesterday and the food was very good! We had the Classic French Dip and BBQ Pulled Pork between us and the latter was especially yummy — juicy pork smothered in sauce and shoved between two unbelievably soft and airy bun halves. A big thumbs up as well to the brewery’s commitment to sustainability and use of natural, locally-sourced ingredients. My only minor gripe is the lackluster beer. My sampler took me through their entire selection including a blond ale, amber ale, pale ale, oatmeal stout, St. Lucifer Belgian Trippel, and strong scotch ale — none left much of an impression unfortunately. Even so, I’d highly recommend giving their food a try especially if you’re on a budget and want to save the extra cash for more wine ;)

I visit the Silverado every month or so on my way up the Valley, and if there is one word to describe it: Consistant. I wouldn’t call it a 4 star place(go down the road to tre vigne for the amazing dinner or lunch. But… Silverado is a great place to stop for a burger and a beer. Mussels were ok… sauce was great. Asian Rolls were good, probably had everything on the menu over time, Wild Boar Farms Heirloom Tomato Salad is a fav of mine(but its off menu), and love the short ribs. Everything is very Bar Faire and the best i can offer is 3 stars… but its all good. I’ll be coming here until i die.
