Great little local grocery store. Has everything you would expect from a high-end grocery store. Has a great little deli.

Shopping here is like going to your local farmers market! Except they are open all year round! Absolutely beautiful market and the staff is nice too! You can tell in every aisle of this store everyone has a lot of pride in this market. It’s super clean, organized and the shelves are fully stocked. The most amazing cheese selection, bakery, picnic sandwiches and fruits and veggie area! And we love all their specialty pastas and rice etc!!! So go grab something from the deli a bottle of vino a loaf of crusty bread and some cheese and make a day of it!

Sunshine Foods is a St. Helena staple. Though it’s in competition with the tiny organic market across the street as well as the nearby Safeway, this is a favorite of locals&tourists alike. Their parking is remarkably ample&accessible(one can even stop at the bank with which it shares a lot) This is a place to pick up picnic provisions. I was there around lunchtime, and it wasn’t a headache, surprisingly. On a weekend. If you’re going to get a sandwich, this is the place to get the pickles and the potato chips. They were at reasonable prices. Sunshine Foods does tend to the luxurious, but not as much as nearby Dean&Deluca. One can find bargains if one looks correctly. The cashier was friendly and helpful. A true Main Street kind of place.

Not so impressed, but obviously many others like it. Food was nothing to be remembered.

The bakery at this grocery store is pretty awesome. I bought an individual serving size banana cream pie and slice of fantasy cake. Banana cream pie: Thick graham cracker crust, chunks of fresh banana, and a layer of whip cream. How could I day no? I didn’t have high expectations because most bakery sections of grocery stores are pretty non memorable but this banana cream pie was amazing. Delicious flavor, not too sweet or heavy, and totally worth the $ 6. Fantasy cake: cheesecake with chocolate ganache and chocolate cake. Both the cheesecake and ganache were creamy and not too heavy, while the cake part was moist. They definitely didn’t skimp on the dark chocolate so if you love chocolate, you’ll love this. Definitely would come back here to raid the bakery of all their desserts!

Thrilled with this accidental find. Stopped to grab an umbrella, and walked out with 60 dollars worth of the best cheeses, deli meats, and olives I’ve ever tasted. Customer service was exceptional. Will definitely frequent this place even though I live 40 miles away :)

Relatively small grocery store that not only has a good array of hot and prepared foods for visitors in between wine tastings, but is also comprehensive enough to meet most people’s daily needs. As for the hot /prepared foods, the prices, portions, and quality are quite reasonable. Even the regular grocery selections are fairly priced, and there’s a good organic selection too. Service is also friendly, personal, and reasonably fast. All in all, the location along Main Street is perfect and makes for an easy stop if you need something solid to help you soak up all that vino — or if you need to do any sort of grocery run, period.

I travel from San Pablo on the weekends just to shop at this market. It doesn’t get any better for fresh produce and meats. Plus, it’s eye candy for the real foodies! A bit pricey, but you get what you pay for as they say!

Out wine tasting and looking for a quick spot to stop and grab a tasty sandwich? Sunshine Foods is the place. When wine tasting is involved who has the time for a pesky sit down restaurant. Our tour guide took us here for lunch and it was a good/fast/cheap decision. My sandwich was quite tasty and we also picked up some chips and salsa for the road. I went with egg salad and they were able to do a half sandhwich for me. The cheese selection was quite impressive! We would have totally stocked up if it wasn’t for the fact that wine tasting was not quite done and cheese doesn’t exactly do well in a hot van. They certainly know their cheese loving wine audience here. When I head back to Napa I know where I will be stopping again for a quick lunch!

I am so sorry to see Sunshine — where I have shopped for 24 years — bend to cater to the 1%! All of a sudden the prices of organic meat and poultry and produce went up dramatically. Now I will go to Calmart in Calistoga. Sad to see the greed.
I LOVE coming to this place. It’s not your average grocery store. We always get our fresh cut meats from here. From beef to chicken to salmon to pork. Anything you want! We bring it to the St. Helena house and throw it on the grill for a nice al fresco meal. We’ve ordered sandwich lunches twice from here for large groups and they always have it fresh and ready on time. I have this place 4 stars instead of 5 because it is pricier than Safeway. You get what you pay for though!

I have stopped into Sunshine several times over the last couple of years. Each time, I hope that it will be better than the last visit and each time, I leave disappointed. It is a small to medium sized market that clearly does a lot of business. But for vegans, the options are slim to none. The deli/bakery provide no freshly prepared options besides a side salad or two. In fact, one of the deli staff offered to get a bakery staff member to answer our questions about vegan options and they never showed up. We finally just gave up, wandered around the store and then left. The bulk section is small but does offer some grains and beans. The frozen/processed food section also provides a couple vegan options but everything is very overpriced. The produce section is small but does offer some organic options. I live in Napa so am not required to shop at Sunshine Foods. In fact, I think I have finally given up on stopping in and hoping choices have improved. As a guest visiting the Napa Valley area, I would suggest that you stop at the Whole Foods in Napa to stock up before heading upvalley. Not that Whole Foods — Napa has everything that a vegan may want but the options are much more numerous and priced much more fairly.

I stopped into Sunshine Foods in the middle of a boutique wine tasting. I mean, come on, I needed some cheese to pair with my newly purchased wine. The cheese selection here BLEWMYMIND… and I’m from Wisconsin! In fact, I took a pic of this impressive cheese section and immediately texted it to my ‘Sconnie friends. Even they were impressed. The prices here are certainly not low, however, they are consistent with the quality of foods contained within. I’m glad I discovered this little gem.

It’s a mini Whole Foods. Definitely gourmet. Small but very good selection of nice items. We only bought a few things, mostly drinks because it was a hot day. But I couldn’t resist taking a look at the very nice cheese selection. They will cut off slices if you want a taste. The selection of gourmet chocolates was also impressive. I couldn’t resist buying a bar of 91% from an S.F. chocolatier.

Not your everyday grocery store. Nice prepared foods area. Great selection of organic and natural foods. Great selection of fancy cheeses. Good local food product options. Great place to go to load up your picnic basket. Downside: price. But you do get what you pay for.

When I attended PUC, I would make it a point to drive to Sunshine Market at least once a week to pick up fresh fruit and groceries. They have a large cheese selection and their bakery makes a lot of high quality and delicious deserts. Even though this market is smaller than the average super market, it has everything you need.

Not a bad little grocery store. I come here for lunch sometimes. They have a very nice deli with some good specialty sandwiches. There is als a sushi bar, a small salad bar. soup bar and a hot bar. There is also hot and cold prepared foods on their respective stands. Across from the deli is a gourmet cheese stand with a cheese expert processing cheeses. I am not a fan of the hot bar. Just does not have any real quality. Seams over heated in the oven. The good thing about this place is I do not feel that I am being ripped off. The prices are fair in a location you could expect to pay more. I don’t do any grocery shopping here but they seem to have a nice selection. Not sure about the prices on groceries.

SO this is an excellent place to stop and grab some affordable and very well made sandwiches to take with you on HWY29 tastings. Also an excellent selection of cheeses and olives. I wouldn’t want to shop here for groceries, as they are expensive, but for a great deli lunch and some cheese, please do.
