I wish I could say better things about the food, but I simply cannot. The staff was quite friendly, and the service was fast, but beyond that, this place does not impress. There BBQ beef is some sort of lean cut of meat with no flavor whatsoever. Rump roast perhaps? The ribs were probably good when they were fresh, but they were dried out. The beans were lightly doctored up canned stuff from what I could tell. Also, while I appreciated the wide selection of sauces at the table, they were all very forgettable. Two stars for their service and location only. I would guess travelers are they only customers keeping this place open. I hope they can make some changes, as I don’t foresee Bandana’s sticking around too long.

Went to Bandanas for Lunch, after placing our order it arrived 41 minutes later, FORTYONEMINUTES at lunch time! At thirty five minutes I asked the waiter what’s taking so long… he responded«It’s being placed in the window now». I look to the window… no food is sitting there. He shows up with it six minutes later. He was saying to every table near us «Sorry it’s taking so long» Finally my food arrives, I inhale some before I have to return to work. In his defense, he removes my soft drink off of my bill leaving me with a balance of over $ 17.00 on my two meat dinner that I didn’t get to eat very much of. The ribs were ends of the slab and were TINY. Bandanas SHOULD have informed diners that they were slow before they ordered and had to wait.

Really good barbque. Six sauces on the table all distinctly different and good! Tender and juicy. Friendly waitresses. I saw them helping each other out and working together. Fast service. Sides were excellent. Our table raved about the ribs and pulled pork. Glass of wine or beer to accompany. Really good and friendly service. 10⁄10 all around!

I have been going to bandannas for years this was the worst experience I’ve ever had the barbecue was like beef jerky the manager said he would take care of it and he took three dollars off the bill if I had to base future visits on this visit I would never go back if the manager would have taken it off the bill then that might have made a difference we had eaten at this same restaurant on Monday very good then!

After being out of this area for several years we decided to go and try this place again. It used to be pretty good. We were there earlier this year 2015. The place looked in disrepair, built up dirt and grime visible from where we were sitting. Employees were lethargic and doing what ever they were doing at low level of energy and enthusiasm. My ribs were dried out and tough. Hey this isn’t McDonalds! This food cost real money. It of all things should have been good. There are a couple Bar-B-Q places in Saint Joseph, the other has issues but at least the food is good. I simply won’t give this place a second chance, my money is too hard to come by to waste it. We e-mailed our concerns and never heard back from them. If management cares so little about customer feed back that might explain a lot about the employees attitude.

This place was a complete gem of a place to have dinner. My family had traveled down to Kansas City to see my Chicago Bears play the Kansas City Chiefs. We stopped here for a bite of dinner before completing our drive back to Omaha. For what looked like a hole in the wall restaurant, it was quite tasty and the service was excellent. We had four adults and two children and everyone was quite happy with their meals. My wife and I shared a full rack of ribs with baked beans and coleslaw. The ribs were falling off the bone good with simply amazing flavor. You could really see the layers of smoke in the meat and that the tips were still part of the ribs made the ribs that much more tasty. Our children had pulled pork sandwiches that were devoured. We even had leftovers as well that were just as tasty the next day as well. Our friend who were with us had the fried chicken dinner and unfortunately I forget the sixth meal. Even the fried okra that came with the chicken dinner was prepared perfectly. Bandana’s definitely is a place that we will stop at again on our way home from Kansas City. For something I was not sure about, Bandana’s most definitely is worth stopping at!!!

I suppose this is the best BBQ in St. Joseph, but it’s not the best ever. We are traveling. We dined @ Jack’s Stack in KCMO the evening prior to going here. Bandana’s did not stand up to that comparison. I had the ‘Southern Style Pork Sandwich’ — pulled pork with cole slaw. It was tasty when copious amounts of their proprietary ‘sweet and smoky’ BBQ sauce was applied but the meat was dry. Another in our party had their ‘buffalo’ chicken tenders. They were definitely spicy and tasted as expected. Pricing was decent. Service was good. People were friendly. They handled our group, which doubled in size unexpectedly efficiently.

Last week I bought carry out ribs and they were so disappointing! Nearly non– existing rub, so dry, with very little meat. This week I went to the one in Independence and they were heavenly! Heavy with rub… meaty…moist…and so flavorful ! St. Joe needs to needs to step up their quality control. Shame on you!

Fabulous BBQ at Bandanas My husband and I stopped in 25 minutes before closing, but were welcomed nonetheless. We chose the Combination Platter with dry rubbed, pork, brisket, ribs and chicken, and ate as much as our bodies could consume. The award-winning BBQ sauces were unbelievable.

All I can say is the food is pretty nasty not very good flavor unless you drown each bite in their sauce which tastes better then the food and the menu isn’t very big either they need more variety and choices in meals. This was my first time ever at a bandanas and will be my last only gave two stars cause at least the people working there are nice and ok service.

This place was OK… Wasn’t the best I’ve ever tasted. The BBQ salad left a desire for something better.

Best BBQ in St. Joe. Ribs are great, brisket is great, sauces taste great. They just remodeled so it’s nicer than it was.

Very good food but the blonde waitress had a hateful attitude. I will give her tip to the next good server. Good food & bad service!

Picked up another star on the last visit. Ribs were good and the waitress had the slab of ribs cut up in the kitchen for me.(Chastised the corporate decision to have the ribs sent out in the slab. Kitchen is much better prepared to handle cutting up hot ribs than the customer is at the table.) Corporate stupidity is keeping the excellent store staff and management from getting my 5th star! Once again, the potato salad & cole slaw is kick-ass and the serving size is very generous. Have very little interest in any other BBQ joint that acts like they are attempting to balance the budget on a small ice cream scoop of these sides. Bandanas gives you a full salad bowl of each!

The best BBQ I’ve had in St Joe. Being in such proximity to KC, you would think there was stellar BBQ here, but this is the top of the heap. The meat itself is just ok, but the sauces and sides are where it’s at. I’d recommend the smoked turkey.

Well I gotta say this is the 1st place I have eaten that let me sample the beef since it wasn’t brisket. Glad they did, I ordered ribs and chicken. Well I spoke too soon. In all fairness it was the end of the evening but my ribs and chicken were dry beyond sauce saving them. They did give me an additional side since I didn’t want the bread but my beans were cold, tasty but cold. I guess I should just quit trying to find a BBQ joint that serves good food! In all fairness I think it is the hardest thing for a restaurant to serve because there is a fine like between done and overdone. That being said, I would not eat or recommend eating here again. I have eaten at the Columbia location and it was a better experience but I had the links there.

My 2nd visit to this place. I love it. You are greeted right away, ushered to a table, prompt beverage service. Food arrives hot, fresh and SOOOOO flavorful(best buns/bread at ANY restaurant!) Love the BBQ flavors. I wish we had one of these in Omaha! You would not guess that this is a «chain», just so darn good food, great service in a very clean restaurant. Prices are not high, and affordable. I love this place.
