Updating review for the owner who was nice and professional. I understand that bars have to side on caution, but we had a group of ALL27 – 32 year olds so not sure why we would have just 120 year-old with us. I would still caution people if they have I guess«younger looking friends» which seems silly since there isn’t really much we can do on our end besides show all forms of ID. It seems this is a place where younger kids try to get into so they have to side on caution. I would suggest to the bouncer that if there is a large group of everyone the same age, then they probably are, so singling out one person as the«fake ID» holder without context is unfair. All in all, go here with caution if you are older.

I just called Nicks Pub to place an order for delivery since Unilocal says they deliver. A gentleman answered the phone and immediately cut me off before I could finish talking, to say call Grub Hub. He then just hung up on. Me. Terrible service. I was going to be willing to do carryout but I will spend my money and order from somewhere else where they care about customers.

So basically if you go to Nicks Pub and you don’t look the right way, they charge your card whatever they want to so they can cover it. No it’s not their policy, it’s the discretion of the bartender to authorize whatever amount they want. I go to Nick’s Pub way too much to be judged when I spend my dollars there. I live in Soulard, walking distance from multiple bars, yet I still go to Nicks. Plus I tip well. At this point, I highly doubt I’ll be back.

Amazingly cheap!(price wise) I went there and I was so surprised when the waitress said $ 2 for a gin and tonic… That’s the cheapest drink I have ever had in a pub. Pizza was also for $ 2… basically we went during the happy hours so everything was really cheap in price so I loved it. I didn’t take beer but they have nice variety.

Everyone once in awhile, you’ll find a diamond in the rough. Nick’s Pub is that diamond — the crown jewel of Dogtown’s south side. From the smoky atmosphere to the uncomfortable chairs, Nick’s Pub is that dive bar you look forward to $ 1.50 drafts and half-price apps every Friday afternoon. A truly unparalleled experience, Nick’s Pub is the place to be if you’re interested in kicking off your weekend with unsavory characters and unobservant(maybe even downright inept) servers. Nothing beats kicking back and enjoying some cheap wings and beer at Nick’s.

Met friends here Saturday night for drinks. This place has everything! Three bar areas, good food, great prices! They had more than enough room to hold all of us and then some! Our waitress Lindsey was wonderful! Took great care of our whole group, always had our refills quickly :) Smoking is allowed, but because they have a great ventilation system, the smoke didn’t bother the non-smokers. We will definately be back :)

To start with the place smells like a dirty ashtray! TIP: Keep you receipt! There’s fraudulent activity occurring at this bar!!! I authorized $ 8 on my visa and was charged $ 25 instead. I’m headed back for a refund and explanation of the bogus charge.

How has I never come to this place before in my entire life? I honestly do not know. I have four older brothers and this all used to be there regular haunt. The beer selection is incredible. There is always a special. And good Lord, those wings have to be the best I have tried. The only negative I would have to say is that it is a smoking bar, which is a rarity these days.

Used to be a great place to watch sports, great food specials and best cheese fries and wings around, not any more! Wings used to be big and juicy now overcooked, dry and small(different supplier?) crinkle cut fries were switched and cheese sauce taste cheap. Looks like owner is trying to save money at the expense of quality! I won’t be coming back and the smoking sucks too!

Great beer selection and awesome happy hour deals. Good live music on the weekends. Only drawback is walking through the bar once it gets crowded. The smoke can get annoying too.

I ordered a chicken club sandwich and when it arrived I had to laugh. I received a piece of chicken on toast. No bacon or mayo like the menu stated. It really can’t be that tough to make a chicken club sandwich which is 4 ingredients. Disappointing and not worth the money, far better places that can make your correct order.

WARNING: This pub is a smoking bar. If that keeps you away, you are missing out on a great pub. To be honest, I didn’t even realize it until I was leaving, I was having that much fun and enjoying some outstanding bar grub. We started out with a pitcher of beer. I don’t think I’ve ordered beer by the pitcher, since I was in college. I’ve enjoyed, buckets of bottled beer, but not a pitcher. I thank our waitress for stirring us in the right direction on that one. I love how you can or order your chicken wings here. It’s simple and I wish other bars would follow their lead. You can order in increments of 6. 6,12, 18 and 24. Then of course for catering, they offer 50. After selecting your quantity, you choose your cooking style; Traditional Fried, Hand-Breaded and From The Pit. My mind was blown when I got to select from 21 sauces. We ordered a 6 Hot and a 6 Lemon & Pepper. L&P has become my favorite when it’s available and Nick’s did not disappoint. For our entrees we both went Fish-n-Chips. Four large pieces of fish, crinkle fries and two pieces of toasted garlic bread. The fish was crispy on the outside, with a hot and flakey inside. I’m okay with fries at a bar being from a bag of frozen fries, especially if they are crinkle. I like how the crinkles hold on to the ketchup. I enjoyed the garlic toast, I was able to create little open faced fish sandwiches. I’ve also been here for two private parties and I can say the mixed drinks and pizza are top notch, too. If you’re looking for a fun bar with cheap beer, good mixed drinks and some of the best bar grub in the city — check out Nick’s. You just might see me there.

Ordered delivery the double frisco melt with pepperoni and sauteed onions, mini tacos, and sweet chili boneless wings(8). Forgot the tomato on the melt and raw onions instead of sauteed. Tacos didn’t come with salsa and sour cream, as the menu states. My boneless«wings» were incredibly small, one was seriously an inch big. They were over $ 8.00 for 8 of them. Huge disappointment. Posted a pic.

Beer selection alone would get 5 stars, but the fact that the bar is filled with cigarette smoke, making patrons risk emphysema for a $ 3 beer, negates the huge brew menu. Put down the cancer sticks and join the 21st century. Lastly, this place has more deals than a Jos A Bank.

It gets two stars now since not only is the owner an adolescent but a wee bit slow as well. Ok, so that’s rude of me, let’s all move on. I never said a bad thing about this establishment. Nicks is ‘almost’ legendary to the area. I don’t aim to steer anyone away. My only complaint was that on Unilocal,JOHN, the owner, only replies to negativity instead of thanking the other positive reviewers which seems petty & counter productive to a good image. Again, Nicks is great if that’s your scene!!! Or if you’re 35 plus & want to re live the glory days.

Best wings in the city! I no longer live in St. Louis, but when I did, we would come to this place once a month or so. They had a pretty good selection of beer and food.

Whoa, Friday all-day happy hour… Half-off appetizers… Too awesome of a deal to pass up! It took something like 20 minutes before any of the waitstaff noticed my party at a table, but once we were on someone’s radar, the service was great. Our server was funny, friendly, and accommodating. Had a good time and ate too much food. Didn’t break the bank.

Terrible service. Great food. Terrible terrible terrible service. My biggest pet peeve is when you get your food before you get your salad. Let alone not getting the salad at all after the waitress rudely says ‘it’s coming’ in a «duhh» kind of voice, AFTER all our food(Minus the order of garlic cheese bread they forgot as well) is on the table. We had to ask to order food cause once we got our beers, they we’re clearly waiting until they were gone to come back to our table. We got here at 3:30 and it is now 4:45 and were still waiting for ANYONE to come to our table. Seeya Sundays at nicks, never again.

I started coming to Nicks at the beginning of March and have been approx 20 times since. This place has amazing deals and the beer selection is outstanding. They have something like 90+ beers on tap and a lot of local beers. This is a great place to try new brews. The wings and burgers are amazing and super cheap during sporting events and other times. Its important to go to Nicks with the right expectations. This bar is smoky and the service isn’t always the best. This bar seems to operate on volume as the prices are so cheap(almost like Fast Eddies). The waitresses have a lot of tables to cover and are hustling so I don’t blame them. I will advise people to double check your bill at the end of the night as I have had mistakes on my bill the last three times. Its usually one of the specials that was not discounted. They always fix it for me. I guess with specials changing all the time and the high volume, mistakes happen. Overall, Nicks is a great bar and is my regular place for drinks and bar food.
