Awesome place to bring your date for an intimate evening of music and wine. No annoying, loud college students or drunkards. I saw a 50s themed band playing here. We ate some cheese and crackers with meat cut slices and enjoyed the music. This is also a place to be seen if you wear a cute retro outfit and wanna show off.

Looks like Christy P was drunk when she wrote that review. This place is absolutely about atmosphere and certainly smells fine to me. You don’t go here to have a jäger bomb and buffalo wings. The setting is quiet, intimate, and relaxing. The proprietor is a friendly man who clearly enjoys his job and makes you feel welcome. There are a mix of tables, couches, and he bar for seating. Disclaimer: I didn’t eat anything here. But, the adjacent table appeared to enjoy what they had. We had wine — a bottle of cab for $ 25. Bottles were reasonable at around $ 35, +\- 10 on average. By the glass $ 7 – 10. And the best part, live music. Tonight, a trio of guys playing whatever they could think of on guitar, violin, and bass. Awesome. Overall, a great, chill place in a nice, hidden area north of the cwe.

Our most recent visit to the Wine Press was this weekend. The place maintains its allure: thumbs up for the food, thumbs up for the live music, thumbs up for an impressive wine and beer list, and thumbs up for the wine and beer suggestions made by our server.

Online, this place seems like it would be nice. Parking wasn’t bad(it’s on the fringe of Central West End, so there wasn’t much else around). The inside had very little atmosphere — and there was a dank, musty smell. My friends and I turned around and left. We went to the heart of CWE instead. Granted, we did not give the food or drinks a chance. But if you want a nice atmosphere, this is not your place.

i wish this place wasn’t as far removed from the cwe as it is. there is plenty of street parking and if you go on a week night you will pretty much have the place to yourself. the inside is modern with a bar, lots of seating and some couches. good place to go for a relaxing evening with a group of friends-no need for reservations. looks like it’s a popular hang out on the weekends when they have live music. the happy hour specials are great: $ 25 for a bottle of wine and appetizer. our server was very attentive and let us try different wines before committing to a bottle. the cabernet sauvignion pavilion crossing is amazing! you must try it! the stuffed mushrooms and the bruschettas that have prosciutto are delicious. definitely a spot to have on your happy hour rotation! i plan to check out the live music concerts sometime soon

As far as a wine bar goes, this is it! Just the perfect chill place to hang out with friends! The service is great, the couches in the back offer a comfy corner if you just want to lounge around. The wine selection is good, but not overwhelming by any means. The live music selection just gives The Wine Press that twist of fun without being crazy! This is my new favorite go-to hangout place in STL!

I’ll make this short and sweet. Good and tasty wine. Gluten free options on the menu! Nice atmosphere. Easy parking. Solid 4-stars. Go.

I’ve seen good reviews on Unilocal about this place, so I thought it would be the perfect place to try for our monthly girls HH! We were here on a Thursday night and since I’ve never been, I didn’t know what the crowd would be like; I called to make reservations just in case. One of the other girls got there first and texted me that there was no need for reservations, she was the only person there! So then I wasn’t sure what to expect once I got there. The drive to Wine Press took me through the typical CWE hotspots and then over to Olive, a little off the beaten path in the outskirts of CWE. Parking was fine, I was able to pull up along the street and not walk very far, which was definitely nicer then the parking nightmares at CWE! My friend was right, we literally were the only ones who were there, but we were greeted by the owner, who was very friendly. He told us a little about the place which used to be his print shop and he asked what types of wine we liked. He had a lot of wines to offer and had us sample a few. I settled on the Dashwood, which I’ve had before and really like. After our first glass of wine he mentioned the happy hour, which is $ 25 for two people to get a bottle of wine and large appetizer, what a deal! We got the Malbec and stuffed mushroom appetizer. It was wonderful! My friend ordered the caprese salad which she really liked, but after trying our mushrooms she wished she would have ordered them! We decided to hang out here for a while and enjoy our appetizers and wine and then head elsewhere for dinner for a bit more atmosphere. By the time we were leaving a few more people had streamed in, but it was still pretty bare. I’ve heard that this place gets crowded on weekends when they have live music though. The décor inside is nice, but a little harsh in my mind. The furniture is all black and the walls are grey, so its just a little dark, but still fairly modern. Their chandeliers were beautiful, I wanted one in my own home. The restaurant consists of one large room from what I can tell. There is a bar area where we sat, then a dining area on the outskirts. I enjoyed coming here for the experience, the food and wine was great but I wish they had more options for food offered. The menu is fairly limited. I would recommend coming here if you want a quiet place to catch up with friends, at least that is the atmosphere on weekday evenings. The owner was very nice, I hope his place does well!

Intimate atmosphere, and great service. The Food & Wine were wonderful, also unexpectedly, a large Craft Beer selection. Live music all thru the week, i love that they have real pianos for the musicians to play! We’ll definitely be back!

Cute little place, well off the beaten path. High average age of the customers, great live music playing the night we were there. Friendly wait staff — but only one waitress and one bartender for the whole place = long wait for drinks. Comfy couches in the back, nice bathrooms! I’d go back if I were in the area.

I have to update this because we were back here Saturday night and this time it was pretty full, but we were the only ones there who were under 60! Seriously. They had live music that night, which was great, and it seemed like maybe a lot of the patrons were there to support her. I’m not complaining, I love the geriatric crowd and probably fit in better with them than my own age group. I just don’t get why this place doesn’t seem to be more popular with the younger crowd. I also tried the cherry pie and it was delicious!

A great find on the outskirts of the Central West End. It’s a little off the beaten path, but the positive is that you won’t encounter the parking hassle that is typical of most CWE hot spots. I recently visited the Wine Press on a Friday evening and was delighted with the experience. Very pleasant live music and extremely friendly workers. We ordered wine and several appetizers… they don’t skimp on the portions that is for sure! I’d recommend it highly to anyone looking to have a nice glass of wine while catching up with friends.

We went here early(5:45ish) on a Friday evening before a concert and had the place almost to ourselves. We selected the comfy couches in the corner and were immediately given menus and glasses of water. We made our first selection off the wine menu and were told that unfortunately they were out of that selection(shouldn’t that be noted somewhere?) but the young lady serving us did indicate and alternative in the same price range that was quite nice. A quick word about the wine list — It has a nice selection of red varietals, the list for whites was a little thin: 2 Chardonnays(1 of which they were out of) were on the list, though their website claims four, and 1 or 2 offerings of other varietals. That said, there are several price points available which is always nice to see. Next time we go we will do a bottle of Red. Some labels are the usual suspects but they do have some new producers(at least to us) in the St. Louis area, Gundlach Bundschu & Joseph Carr being two that stand out. For food we chose the Asparagus wrapped with basil and proscuitto and a slice of brie; also the Bruschetta sampler — 4 types of Bruschetta created with different cheeses and toppings. Both dishes were wonderful! The portions were very generous and the bruschetta was a wonderful pairing of cheese and toppings. The tomatoes in the traditional preparation were full of flavor, a rarity in late Oct. We thought of ordering another dish but given the size of these dishes, there was no need. Half way through our meal the owner came and introduced himself and talked about the food and wine we were having. He was truly interested in making sure we were enjoying everything and was quite proud of his establishment. That care and enthusiasm seemed to be true all the staff, everyone was courteous and timely in presenting dishes or clearing the table. Though a little off the beaten path, we really enjoyed our experience here and will definitely go back again, hopefully at a time we can here the live music. Hopefully they will be in business for a long time to come.

This place is a tough one. I like the atmosphere inside, I love what the neighborhood is growing into outside as well. The hard part is they’re isolated from the rest of the central west end scene so you have to go out of your way to stop in here. However, every new are requires a first mover and bravo to the wine press for being the business. Hopefully in the coming years some more late places will open up so you can make an evening of it. Great staff, great wine, great time.

A wonderful intimate place with great food amd the wines are top of the line with out being overprice, the staff really know their wines and beers. The day that I was there they had a couple of live guitar player the music was just right for the feel of the place not over powering but very good. The Appetizer adn Desserts were sinfully good, have not had an entrée yet but I’m looking forward to it.

The Wine Press is a small restaurant attached to a locally owned printing press that has been in operation for three decades. The food is excellent, all locally bought and made fresh that day. Try the brushetta, try it – go, do it! You won’t regret it! The service is excellent, the management is always flexible to catering events, hosting parties and caring for its customers. Talk to Greg, he loves talking to everyone. They put the customers first – always. The wine menu is ever-expansive and has a selection unmatched in the local community. Taste, taste, taste. They love to have you taste everything. Every week local musicians play the piano and the bar is flexible to accommodate local friends and family and treats them like true guests of honor. If they have a down side it’s that no one really takes themselves too seriously. The owner is a printer. The bartender a social worker. The kitchen staff ex-college basketball stars. For that reason the staff doesn’t always jump and they’re not always staffed to the gills.

Came to The Wine Press last night for a reception of sorts and have mixed feelings about this little wine bar. Let’s start with the pro’s: — GREAT wine. I had a pretty fancy glass of Shiraz and was pleased with the quality of the vino. — Cheap, great wine. I bought myself and two friends a glass. For less than $ 20. That’s a steal! — Friendly staff. Everyone was super nice and as helpful as they could possibly be in the situation. Here’s the not-so-great part about last night: — Service was sloooow. In their defense, the shop was very crowded and the bar was getting slammed! But they looked a little out of sorts/ragged 30 minutes into the party. It took at least 25 minutes to order 3 glasses of wine. I would be interested in going back on a night where it’s just a normal crowd and see how it goes. Again, The Wine Press has potential, maybe it was just an off night!

This new wine bar, located northeast of the Central Wine End, features fine wines, beers, cocktails, and a limited food menu. Beers include Chimay, Delerium Tremens, etc. Staff are gracious, but I found the atmosphere a bit cold, stuffy, and«mature» for my taste. The Sauce review was on point in describing the clientale as either 20-something or middle aged. Acoustics are poor. Your words get lost in all the empty space of the room. I was hoping for something more intimate and romantic. Instead, the feel is «Pinot Pottery Barn.» But, a good addition to the neighborhood.
