I’ve ordered from this location twice now for delivery, the first time my order arrived nearly a full hour and a half after the stated delivery time their website listed after placing the order. I called them to find out what the hold up was and the person on the phone apologized and said that they where short staffed and it was not typical for this long of a delay. Round two; I placed an order with them for delivery again weeks after my first, this time placing my order a full 3 hours in advance. Surely I would receive the order on time this time right? Wrong! Order arrived 20 minutes late. The food is decent but a bit over priced for what you get. There are so many options in the sandwich market you really need to bring something unique to be memorable which is something I’m struggling to find with this place. That being said I do personally enjoy the added bread«guts» you get with your order and feel that it is a nice touch. Will I order from here again? Probably, but thats mostly because they offer delivery.

I enjoyed the food. They accidentally made me the wrong sandwich. But they made it up to me by giving me a free sandwich the next time I order. The sandwich still tasted good so I wasn’t complaining. I think they have great customer service. I like to order from erbert and Gerbert’s. Thank you!

This place is right across the street from Subway and I wish I would have gone there. Some are comparing this place to Jimmy Johns, I’d say yes if JJ was super bland and gave you an extra flap of doughy bread with your order. I had a Tappy which is a standard Italian combo sandwich. The bread was not fresh and was sort of cold. The toppings were fine but not a very large amount of anything. Not a whole lot of taste at all. I had a bag of thier sour cream and onion potato chips too and they were just as lacking in taste as the sandwich. Service was quick but I think the cashier is a robot, no smile and stared off in the distance the entire time I was there. Can’t recommend it and I will not be back. Subway would be a better option.

This was my first time eating at an Erbert’s and Gerbert’s and I heard a lot of positive feedback from friends and coworkers. I was very disappointed. Although the flavors and selection is great, the sandwich was so flimsy. There was hardly any turkey on my sandwich, so I was basically eating a cheese, lettuce, mayo, and avocado sandwich. For what I paid, I got a really substandard sandwich. Also, I believe this location delivers but they don’t list that on the website as an option for online ordering. The customer service was decent.

This location consistently completes orders out of sequence. The cashier asks for your name but the person delivering the order doesn’t use the name for customers to recognize when their order is up. Confusing and slow service. Train your employees! I will take my lunch business elsewhere.

Asked cashier for nutritional information, she said we have a giant book, let me get someone to grab it for you. Person who went off to get it did other things in the back kitchen area that you can see. Came back and said, «I couldn’t find it, what do you need to know? I can just tell you.» Having nutritional information on hand when running a chain is a must.

This place ROCKS! I ordered the Titan, cup of tomato basil soup and a cookie. I eating my sandwich when the manager(I’m guessing) named Mike called and told me that they had forgotten to include my cookie. I looked in the bag and relaized it was not in the bag and noticed my sandwich was wrong also. Mike said«call us back and we will take care of the problem.» I called back a couple days later and Mike fixed the problem, comp’d my lunch and included an extra cookie. This is great customer service. Kinda of forgot how great customer service feels like these days. I will definitely be ordering from there again and again. Great group of folks there! Keep up the good work!

Place was dirty. Employees have no direction. My 7 buck tiny sandwich was Ok. But I could not get passed the nasty. Tried again a few months later, and same thing.

The service at this particular store was very nice, the staff were all very kind and helpful. I had never been to an Erbert and Gerberts so I asked what the cashier would recommend and he was very willing to give suggestions, which was nice. Aside from that, I was not impressed. The sandwich I ordered was just OKAY, was kind of sloppy and not exactly something I couldn’t make at home. The main thing that caused the low review for me was the cleanliness of the«process.» I mean they just plop your bread down on this counter and make your sandwich. At least at Subway they put the paper down first so it’s not just touching the germy counter. I’m not in any way a germaphobe but that just sort of grossed me out. I’m sure there are many places that operate that way, but I think just because their work station is right out in the open, it makes it a bit different.

It’s Minnesota’s Jimmy John’s, except as others have already mentioned over and over. you get that middle piece of bread(usually torn out) which is soft and yummy to eat.(If you like bread .) Also, the owners of this establishment probably don’t spend their profits on the hunting of endangered animals like JJ’s owner does or did. The sandwiches here have a little more thought behind them(In comparison to Jimmy Johns) but a bit pricey in my estimation. Okay stuff for the once in awhile.

I must be eating different food then others that reviewed. This place was awful. The cashier was completely asinine. We wanted a drink and it took her approx 10 mins to figure out how to do that. My husband and I each got a sub and soup. The subs were subpar at best and the broccoli cheese soup tasted like it came from a powder. Nasty! Next time I’m crossing the street to subway.

It’s like Jimmy John’s, but better in two ways: 1) They give you the chunk of bread they pull out of the middle of the sub. Weird? Yes. Tasty? You betcha. 2) The sandwich is not half lettuce. I usually go for the Narmer. Definitely the best sub in the skyway.

For a chain sandwich shop I’d say really good. Better than jj, and waaay better than subway. Each sandwich here has a unique flavor, as opposed to the other chains that somehow make each sub taste the same. Friendly fast and cheap. Parking sucks. But what can you do downtown. That’s why it’s only 3 stars. Should be 4.

No bad, not good. Definitely not 4 star worthy. It’s slightly better subway but not by much.

This place serves a really good sandwich, but it’s not as good as Subway. It’s a little different product here — different bread, different ordering method, and different size — but still pretty good. At this place, you order a sandwich off the menu, and they fix it up for you. You have no say in what goes inside, except for what you see on the menu. Also, these sandwiches only come in 4″ and 8″ sizes, as opposed to 6″ and 12″ for their competition. Not only that, an 8″ sub here will cost about 1⁄3 more than a 12″ at the competition, and not have as much filling it up. At this place, you only have two choices of bread — white or wheat — and it’s not the nice, chewy break you find at the competition. Now, don’t get me wrong. It was a good sandwich, and I liked it, but I would like it a lot more at a better price. if you are looking for value, and variety, you might want to go to Subway, right across the street, instead.

Fast delivery of yummy stuff!!! Good sandwiches and friendly service, both when calling order in and receiving the order from the delivery driver. I think its a little odd they lay the inside of the bread on top of your wich but hey, I guess its better than throwing it away. I had a chicken salad sandwich of some sort and Ci had some vegetarian wich. We both enjoyed and liked the dessert bars we ordered as well. There is nothing Spectacular about what you get, but its a nice change from the usual Jimmy Johns.

E & G’s is a nice regional franchise. They make a good sandwich and it’s a nice change from ‘Subway’, which is right across the street. Give ‘em a try… you won’t be disappointed!

Best place to get a sub in downtown St. Paul. The bread is the best part and they give you the center piece they take out, unlike Jimmy John’s where they just throw that piece away. Friendly service and great side options as well.

I was staying at the Crowne Plaza across the street and set out in search of some lunch. Fortunately, I didn’t have to go too far before stumbling upon this small sandwich shop across from the ubiquitous Subway. Opting for new and different, I chose Erbert & Gerbert’s. Inside, it’s your basic sandwich joint – order at the counter and sit down or take away. Lots of choices on the menu, all with rather strange names.(This is explained on the website, which I visited afterward.) Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever said, «I think I’ll have the Girf» before, and I remarked as much to the friendly employee behind the counter. They weren’t too busy, and the sandwich came out in a jiffy, just how I had ordered it. All the ingredients tasted fresh and were yummy together. I did, however, think it was a little strange that they put the bit of bread fluff that they scooped out to make room for the filling right there on top of my sandwich. Really… I don’t need any more carbs, thank you. I also had the chili, which was excellent. They have full nutrition info on their website, which is nice, although you might want to check it before you order. Over 900 calories for a medium size sandwich and cup of chili seems like a lot to me, and I had them hold the mayo. Anyway, it was worth it, and I’ll definitely come back if I’m ever in St. Paul again and in the mood for a sandwich.
