Fun airport bar. iPad in front of you to browse for free and the technology to order & pay without saying a word. Nice stop if you’re going International on G terminal

So I had a layover in Saint Paul so I thought I’d grab a quick bite. First and most importantly the bartender(TYLER) I had was amazing! He’s running a checkout station for people to purchase snacks and refreshments, he’s cooking all of the food that was ordered, and making the drinks that people are ordering as well. What’s frustrating are the people who hasn’t worked in the restaurant industry, don’t realize how much multitasking is going on at one time by this one individual. So if upper management or corporate sees this please recognize this young man for his hard work. The food was great, the service was great and I highly recommend Tyler at flybar !!!

Soooo — this is one of those cases where technology and style fail. This is a small 10 seat bar off in a nook of the airport. Every seat has an iPad where you place your order. The problem is that I can read a menu pretty quick a figure out what I want, but when I have to scroll through this menu and that menu, then it gets more complicated. The bartender, who was really nice, friendly and approachable, can not take an order. He has to do what the iPad tells him to do, The selection is just average — I am not gonna lie, I had my hopes alittle higher. Also, the food is not that great of a selection either. Hot pressed sandwiches are all premade. Everything is a little pricey as well. Because of the iPad ordering system, you can’t run a tab — you have to swipe your card for every order(yeah, there is a reader at every iPad too). That makes the bill a little more complicated. Tips is set at as percentages you select. On the plus side, however, you can«Surf the web for free» with their iPad. Another little side note which some one may take as either a blessing or a curse that before you do anything the iPad is constantly asking your flight information so it can alert you to when you flight is ready. I found it irritating because I just wanted to order(or at least see what there was to get). If you are paying cash, you are also screwed as they only take cards. An interesting concept no doubt.
