Best hot dago’s & bread. Nice cozy neighborhood restaurant. You get good value as well for your money.

A friend from Duluth suggested I try Mama’s Pizza. I live less than three miles away. With guests visiting and wanting pizza I decided to order carry-out from Mama’s Pizza. I am thankful I did. The price was mid-range. The pizza was heavy. No skimping on ingredients. We ordered the house speciality including banana peppers and pineapple with meat and their red sauce. It was exceptional. We also ordered meatballs. The sauce and taste were as good as it gets from a restaurant. We asked if bread was included and they gave us a fresh unsliced loaf. Hot from the oven. Yummy. The place has its own parking lot. Safe. Family friendly. A smaller seating area but large enough to not feel crowded. When entering you find yourself in front of the pizza ovens and cash register. The man making the pizza was super friendly and proud of his business. This place has been around for over 50 years and I assume he was the second generation. I would return just to have a conversation with him again. Since moving into the area a year ago I have searched for an excellent, non-chain pizza and as of late had given up. My last two pizzas were from Dominos and Pizza Hut. It isn’t great, but at least I know what to expect. Now that I have Mama’s Pizza in my phone contact list, problem solved!

We went here for our 8th wedding anniversary(hey what else do you do when the kids tag along lol) the pizza was great! We loved the ice cream cone at the end. What a great place. The cooks in the kitchen seemed very genuine when we were walking out and thanked us. Will def. be back!

Just drove from Cottage Grove to this hidden gem of St Paul. Let me say it was well worth the 25 minute drive and the 20 additional minute wait for a table. The crust was nice and crispy. The cheese and sauce were high quality. The service was amazing considering this place was very busy. I have always sworn by Savoys on 7th st but they definitely have some competition. Mama’s blew me away!

What a great find! We found Mamas on Rice Street after the Badger/Gopher game for pizza and a warm up. The little restaurant was packed, but we were able to get a booth. The wait staff was friendly and I could not believe how attentive they were given they had a full house, a waiting line to get in the place. We ordered their large Antipasto salad, which served all 4 of us. It was fresh and huge. We also ordered their large«Flavor Explosion» pizza which was fantastic. The sauce was great, the Italian sausage was fabulous, and it had onions, pepperoni, banana peppers, and of coarse lots of cheese. It was plenty for all of us and we had to take some home. The best treat was that everyone gets a complimentary ice cream cone to finish off the evening. This is a great family neighborhood business and when we get back to St Paul we will definitely be back!

A hometown pizza place that will save your life! Traditional pizza parlor crust piled high with toppings and thick with cheese. The place smells amazing if you are dining in. Very quick take-out service and fairly reasonable in price for a great quality product. They are hardworking and fun owners. You can grab a biscuit for your dog if you visit! Vegetarian options available and probably vegan upon request. Pasta is delish too. Also have sauce and meatballs available to buy right out of the case if you like. An adorable hot spot for pizza lovers of all ages!

First and foremost, absolutely fantastic food. Go for the spaghetti and meatballs! We’ve been ordering from some new restaurants while I’ve been very sick up at United, and this is one of the best experience we’ve had with Togo dining(food quality, heat, taste, etc). You can tell management cares and would go above and beyond… my husband and I greatly appreciated that. 10⁄10!

This is why I love Unilocal — we probably wouldn’t have stumbled upon this had we not decided to search for something new. Started with a search for thin pizza near our zip and Mama’s popped up and I was intrigued by the great reviews… so we headed out of our neighborhood to see if this little family owned pizza place was as good as people were saying! The three of us arrived around 7pm on a Saturday night — we knew there would probably be a wait and we were right, but this turned out to be part of the experience. The waiting area is relatively small — really just the entryway and we were jammed in with a bunch of locals all waiting for one of the 17 tables. While waiting it became evident that we were pretty much the only non-regulars in the joint. The folks behind the counter seemed to know everyone and while enjoying the hustle and bustle an elderly women took it upon herself to start recounting her history with Mama’s. Turns out she knew Tony(one of the family behind the counter) as a little kid and told me about how he would run around handing out napkins. She then went on to recount the story of his mother who also worked there and had died a number of years ago from cancer and pointed out her large lite picture on the wall… now I was starting to feel like I was being invited into the family. After about 15 minutes we got one of the booths and started down our path of service induced, family loving, pizza experience. The food was awesome — we ordered a small Italian fries(pizza crust with cheese and pizza dipping sauce) and got what I consider to be the classic pizza I judge all pizza places on… the PMO, Pepperoni, Mushroom, and Onion. Both were served straight from the oven with ample cheese… sauce…toppings…nothing to comment on other than they were great. At the end of our meal we were served a small soft-serve complimentary ice cream cone — what a nice touch and again I felt like I was part of the family and eating at a relatives home. I watched carefully as they managed the tables expertly and gave everyone the experience we received. I commented to my wife this is exactly why I love the city and I love family restaurants — when done right there is nothing like them in the world. On the way out the door I casually mentioned to Tony that I was impressed, thank him and this was out first Mama’s experience… to top off the night he chased us out the door and said if we were Mama’s newbies we needed to leave with a gift and thrust some of their frozen bread and meatballs in sauce to us to take home to make a sandwich… not making this up! So I would have gone back for the great food — but now I will return to support my new found family!

Quite possibly the best pizza in the Twin Cities. Don’t forget the pizza fries. The house deluxe is amazing.

I have been eating here for as long as I can remember, and the food never disappoints. This family business has endured fires and floods and will always hold a special place in my heart. Friendly staff and the best pizza for miles, no complaints.

Tasted the sausage pizza and was transported to sausage pizza heaven. I’m telling you people… you have GOT to try the food here. I’ve never had a bad experience here. Now I’m headed back there tonight to get another one, plus you have to try the sampler platter it gives you a wonderful idea what to eat here. So, get here — however you need to get here just get here!

Grew up coming here as a little girl and came back as a mother. Still the same atmosphere and amazing service. The food is delicious as always. My daughters were thrilled with the free ice cream cone for dessert. Just like I was when I was little. Thank you Tony, for not changing this gem! Mama would be proud!

We went here about a month ago and maybe our expectations were a little too high considering all the great reviews. I loved the atmosphere in the place and our server was friendly. We started with some cheese bread and it wasn’t anything special but it was yummy. Then we each ordered a small pizza. My husband really liked his — if this was his review, I’m sure it would be a higher rating. I didn’t get everything I ordered on mine even though the server had read my order back to me so I know she had it written down. The person who brought the food out(not our server) simply offered me a bowl of olives on the side since they weren’t on my pizza(huh? weird). They didn’t give us a discount or anything. Even with the remaining toppings — sausage and mushrooms — the pizza was completely flavorless. It was like there was no salt in it at all, which I can’t imagine was true. It was like eating cardboard. I tasted my husband’s and his tasted pretty good so I guess I just got an off one? He tasted mine and said«Wow this is substantially worse than mine, no wonder you don’t like it. It doesn’t taste like anything.» I didn’t even want to bother to bring it home. The little ice cream cone at the end was a nice touch. We loved the whole vibe of the place so much that maybe we’ll be back and try it again. There are lots of great pizza places to choose from though so I’m not in a hurry.

My co-worker turned me onto Mama’s, being he’s a Rice Street Boy and all. When we order pizza for lunch at work, this is where we order from. Great sauce, awesome crust, don’t need to get extra cheese(cause there’s plenty!) I can only speak for the pizza, I’ve been told the pasta is great too!

The cheese is awesome, and there’s plenty of it! The sauce is perfectly zesty-tangy, rich and sassy! I’m a tough critic and I give it a 4.6 out of 5! «I’ll be back.»

I immediately fell over heels for this place. Its small and cozy and PACKED of lovely people. Me being new to the place I walked right in with head down first and i swung the door open and omg i almost hit somebody there was a line! in such a small building and there is a sign saying seat yourself but at the time there was no tables but i saw awards for this place and im like ima stay and try this out. Finally a table opened i ordered the pasta sampler with baked cheese and oh my it tasted just like a mom would cook it no joke when i ate it it reminded me of a pasta a women named Renee would make(RIP) her cooking was always from scratch and omg it toke me back! The service is the best especially for being packed they treat you like your the only one in the room no rush no nothing. I will deff come in next time i will try the pizza next time the portions are so big i toke my left overs and i usually don’t leave leftovers and a plus when you take to go they fill your to go box with tomato sauce!!! super kind!

Great place! Waitress was outstanding and very helpful. Pizza crust and sauce were homemade and delicious! Side salads were fresh, crisp, and a very good size. Great ambiance and take-out business was booming while we dined in. Highly recommended!!!

I work with a thoroughbred Italian guy. He lives in Brooklyn and flies in for meetings. I suggested we go out to lunch — he said, and I quote, «I ain’t goin’ annnnyweaaa else fa lunch, except Mama’s.» That’s pretty much all you need as far as a recommendation goes for good pizza. This place is the real deal. You walk in, are greeted by the friendliest man making pizzas right in front of you, and are led into a tiny portal into Italy. The interior — well I think you just have to go in and see for yourself. You’ll be pleasantly surprised. ANDTHEPIZZA!!! SMOTHEREDINSOMUCHCHEESE — ALLTHECHEESE! I shared a SMALL cheese and sausage pizza with my co-worker(not the Italian), and took home LEFTOVERS. SOMUCHFOOD. And the prices? SO incredibly reasonable. And the staff? Friendly as ever. And the check? COMESWITH A BABYICECREAMCONE! How is that for a sweet taste left in your mouth?
