Had a great experience buying a few items from this store. Good quality gear with fantastic service. Shawn helped me pick out a great pair of Vasque boots today. He really knows what he’s talking about.

The best thing about Tradition Creek, aside from the fact that it’s easily accessible in St Paul, is that they carry all the little stuff that other outdoor retails usually don’t*. I’m talking about cheap carabiners, paracord, little empty plastic bottles for soap, single ditty bags(3 sizes), and tent stake loosies. They’ve got a lot of other great stuff too, but this is the little stuff that can really make your camping experience a lot easier and more enjoyable. Sure, Tradition Creek also has your nice expensive hiking boots, backpacks, and sleeping bags, but being able to find just an empty stuff sack is pretty great. This isn’t a ’boutique’ outdoor store, the inventory shows some real camp sense. If I’m heading out of town to camp, and I realize I’ve forgotten ANYTHING this is the place I’m going to stop. *These items might be available at the big box outdoor stores, but I never go to them. I’d rather give business to Tradition Creek.

This place is awesome. Think of an Ely, MN style outfitter shop, right in St. Paul. They have some pretty great products like MN made wool coats, Red Wing shoes/boots, Army surplus supplies and your usual camping gear like packs, stoves, fuel, Nalgenes, lanterns, cooking gear, etc. I like that they have the large BWCA maps too. I guess they have some in-store demos as well.
