The tapas are good but make sure you try at least one of their custom drinks before you go onto whatever your usual is. The bartenders and drinks are incredible.

I come here for the drinks. They are AMAZING! The bartenders are over the top.(Sit at the bar and watch). It’s truly an art watching them! They only use fresh ingredients, great prices($ 9 a drink and it’s worth every cent for the quality booze and ingredients). After trying the drinks, nothing else can compare. Hands down my fave is the Perfect Pear. It is strong! 3 shots. A bit sweet but has a spicy/salty rim that compliments it!

Classy lounge to wind down after a long week. The bartenders are all friendly and make the drinks quickly. This place stands out from the other bars in the area because you can tell the drinks are considered an art instead of a quick tip from customers. I tried the Cask and Ale Old Fashioned on my visit here. I loved it! I do suggest asking the bartender for extra cherries because I only got one. Like previous reviewers have mentioned, the drinks do run between $ 12-$ 13. I did not get a chance to try their food but next time I will be tempted to. There are a few small tables along the back wall facing the bar and some big tables outside for everyone to enjoy their drinks. The area leading to the bathroom shows black and white pictures from the Prohibition era, clearly displaying the theme of this lounge.

Cask and Ale is something that you MUST experience at least once when in downtown St. Pete. We try to stop in every time we are in St. Pete and have enough time and funds for drinks. Cask and Ale is full of extremely talented bartenders. This is a place that you go to and watch your drink being made in amazement. Everything is hand-poured and mixed with fresh ingredients. There are no mixers, shortcuts or measuring done at this bar. They also make the drinks super fast. It is really a truly enjoyable experience to watch them make four different drinks at one time flawlessly. You get drinks and a show. They also wear spiffy clothes that remind you of the prohibition era. It is definitely a classy bar. With the class, freshness and amazing bartenders come a hefty price. Most drinks run around $ 12-$ 13. My personal favorite is an adaptation of one of their menu items that they will proudly make for you: A Strawberry Gimlet. The Gimlet on the menu is cucumber, but the strawberry version is sweeter and really refreshing. I actually discovered this by explaining to our awesome bartender what I like and asking for a suggestion. These guys and gals know their stuff! Do not be afraid to ask. If you are a whiskey fan, my Hubby recommends«The Jam». I will also say that some of their drinks are super strong and can be hard to choke down, so I recommend asking for advice if you like your liquor hidden or weak. With that being said, one drink here does not get me drunk. I once ordered two drinks(the second a much stronger and drink) and didn’t feel buzzed until I was walking out. It is a good place to stop for one enjoyable, social drink and then move on to a cheaper place if becoming inebriated is your goal. I thought about docking one star for the price and lack of wooziness. However, I love this place and the Strawberry Gimlets too much to consider less than 5 stars. We will return. Maybe someday we will try their food too. It looks amazing from what I have seen.

Stumbled upon this place thanks to Unilocal! Not bad at all, and I would recommend it for drinks. I had the truffle Mac and cheese — not amazing for the price. Honestly, their food menu lacked and I wasn’t impressed. I wouldn’t go here if you’re looking for a good meal or snack. The drinks were far from spectacular but the atmosphere is what sold me. It wasn’t loud at all and you could actually hold a conversation! Customer service was also decent.

I’ve walked by this place for 2 years and I have no idea why I have never stopped in to check it out, this place is awesome! Love the décor and overall atmosphere of this place! The beer, mixed drinks, and selection of liqour and spirits are awesome. My favorite drink is the Spring Fling it’s yummy and delicious!!! I have not tried the food yet but I’m sure it’s delicious! It’s a little on the pricey side but the drinks are delicious! We will be back!

Not the kind of place you want to go to to get chocolate wasted for cheap(go to five bucks) but if you’re into a well made drink that isn’t a «oh my god, can I totally get a lemon drop!?» then this is the place to go. The bartenders know what their doing.

Normally I don’t like hipster places, or hipsters for that matter. I had to make an exception to policy and try this place due to the great reviews. Though the Topos menu was very very limited, the flatbread and sweet potato chips were excellent. The drink choices where ample was very interesting beverage options. I opted for the beer on tap, which was a pumpkin and it is the only pumpkin beer I’ve ever enjoyed. The options on tap are great. The ambience is pretty decent too. If you were just meeting up and want to snack and a drink, this is your place.

Stopped by after dinner for cocktails, maybe around 11 on a Saturday night. The place was PACKED and LOUD, definitely not someplace you want to bring a date(unless it’s not going well and you don’t want to have to talk). The bartender passed my test — she totally nailed it with a perfect vieux carre. Hubby ordered something bourbon-y off their cocktail menu that was a miss, it tasted mediciney. I would still definitely come back if given the chance.

Other than the service — which I found touch lacking. Everything was AMAZING. After watching a play at the Studio@620, the paramour and I walked down to Cask & Ale, and while they weren’t busy, we had to actually place our orders at the bar vs any sort of table service, this was kind of irritating but other than that, what we found out was that we were VERY pleased with what we ordered. I ordered the spring fling(I think that’s what it was called) and the Paramour ordered a Maple old fashioned. To eat we ordered their bacon mac and cheese. When everything came to the table, EVERYTHING was absolutely amazing. My drink was light and fresh, the lover’s was sweet and tasty. But the mac & cheese? The Mac & cheese was in-freaking-credible. I have to say it’s probably the best that I’ve ever had. I will come back.

Very creative, tasty drinks. This place can get packed on a Saturday! It was squish up against each other, make best friends, kind of packed. I’m sure if you come earlier in the night, it isn’t so crazy. So what makes this place worth it? The drinks! They have a great selection of drinks. They even have a menu! I got the Berry Bush which was delicious. We also got our friend a strawberry drink, that wasn’t on the menu, but we just explained what she liked. It ended up tasting fruity and fresh. Completely surpassed my expectations. I would definitely start my night here, enjoy a few drinks, and then go someplace a little less crowded! Next time, I’ll have to try the food!

Great place to grab a cocktail or a beer. The atmosphere is very similar to Mandarin hide but smaller. Great variety of interesting cocktails or various beers including craft beers.

I can’t help but keep going back. It takes a long time to get a drink but it’s worth the wait. They muddle this and juice that then they pass you a little magic. I love the craft cocktails. The Tuna Poke and the edamame are outstanding. We go about once a week!

I’m female the music blasting at Cask & Ale was even too girly for me. However, I love the atmosphere, location, and super friendly service. An overall warm and welcoming feeling, right off of(near) Central is a breath of fresh air. Very different energy than some of the other mixology caves I have been to on the strip. Buttoned vests and suspenders galore. The drinks are in the $ 10 range and strong, not sweet, and overall very tasty. I had the Berry Bush and tried the Cask & Ale Old Fashioned… all of which put me in an excellent mood after a long day at work. Taps are visible from across the room, so no beer menu needed. The other menus are easy to read and clearly written on wall chalkboard, the mixed drink menu and the food menu were both looked awesome, a good read. That food menu tho… I was stuffed from the sushi place next door and still considered ordering.

This was the nicest place I visited on a recent bar hopping adventure during First Friday in St. Pete. The crowd was at least polite enough to say excuse me even though it was packed. It’s probably harsh to judge a place off of an exceptional event night, but I enjoyed it and would love to go back. There is a list of specialty cocktails, but no prices listed which is something I’m never a fan of. I’d like to know how much I’m going to be paying! I loved the interior design and the bartenders’ wardrobes. It was a little difficult to get a drink, but it was understandable since the place was probably over capacity. It took longer than normal to get four simple shots, but I know they were trying to help as many people as possible. I’d estimate about 15 minutes for the four of us, and another 5 to get checks. For as crazy as it was, the bartenders remained cheerful and the place still left a good impression. I can’t wait to see what it’s like on a normal night!

Without a doubt, the best bar in downtown St Pete! The cocktail list is to notch, each drink better than the last. The whiskey selection is killer and the knowledge of the mixologists behind the bar is exceptional. They always have great suggestions not only for the crafted cocktail list but also if you are looking for a new concoction they will happily work with you and you won’t be disappointed. The food is also excellent! We had the portobello fries and chicken tikka marsala which came out quickly and both were delicious. They obviously take the same pride in the kitchen as they do at the bar. Both sides utilize really fresh ingredients that make for tastes and flavors that really pop. I definitely recommend going here during of times where your patience can be rewarded and you can enjoy their product. When the place packs up, it can get really crowded and fills with the rookie drinking crowd. Regardless, do yourself a favor, and put this place at the top of your to do list. You can thank me later!

Solid place to go for a bite to eat by yourself. Food was prepped well and beer selection was great. Stay away from the Ginger beer, it was the pits Bartenders are actual real bartenders mixing brinks, not just bottle poppers.

I like going to the cask and ale if I’m going to be out«late». Always a fun crowd. However, the drinks are super expensive, but good. I like coming when someone else is footing the bill(did I just say that?). Bartenders are generally friendly. I had one bad experience with one bartender who was not so nice. I don’t think she is there anymore. I was there on a random wednesday recently and there was a birthday crowd complete with a stripper. She didn’t announce herself but it was quite obvious when she started grinding on people, then chairs, then the floor. I thought this was a little odd for an upscale place but I’m assuming it doesn’t happen that often. It’s a very nice and intimate setting and would be great for making a good impression on a first date. One of my favorites in St Pete! Bring $$$!
