My buddy and I were there last week and it was his first time there… absolutely loved the vibe in this small, energetic and happening spot! Lots of good looking ladies with a diverse crowd! The people were friendly, the egos were checked at the door and people just always seemed to be relaxed and having a great time! My go to spot whenever I’m in St Pete… as much as it kills me to say this because I live on the other side of the bridge, but Tampa needs to step up its downtown game… we are getting there but St Pete has a major head start! Oh and BTW, Linda is número uno when it comes to customer service… you go girl!

Have been here a number of times, music is always great! No cover, just walk in. Drinks are reasonable. Really good jazz last night.

One of the staff members at the hotel mentioned this place to me. After leaving the beach, I wanted to find a place that was still open. I parked two blocks away on Central Ave. By the time I arrived, the adjoining cigar bar was closed(Midnight during the week) however, there is a small selection of cigars available near the bar. I did not see one of my favourite cigars however, I just picked one. It was a good stick. In addition to that, I ordered Angel’s Envy Bourbon. The bartender introduced me to another Bourbon of which I do not remember the name, but it was good and sweeter than Angel’s Envy on the front end. The band playing when I visited sounded good. This is a good late-night spot for live music, spirits and cigars.

We visited Ruby’s Elixir last night and got lucky to witness and hear the amazing Chris Walker band. The band sounded really good playing some old school cover jams and the lead guitarist and singer pulled off incredible tricks like playing with his tongue and playing someone else’s guitar behind them. This was probably the most talented band that I saw free in a small venue like this. The bartender was pretty prompt and courteous. The bar was packed but I got drinks pretty quickly and didn’t have to wait long. Rubys elixir had $ 3 Imperial brews on special which reminded me of my visit in Costa Rica. Ruby’s elixir is located downtown St Pete near the Central Ave strip. There is plenty of free street parking 2 or 3 blocks away and some pay $ 1 per hour to park in the garage. This bar sells cigars and allows smoking in doors. They typically have New Orleans style jazz and classic rock most days. The bartender tells me this bar is known for exceptional music. Décor is typical bar décor W low lighting and red led lighting. The band plays against a brick wall which reminds me of a comedy club. We will definitely be coming back here again soon.

My friend’s order two drinks I even tried both nasty the waitress took th back the drinks, my friends said still taste the same. The bartender didn’t make a fresh drink just added more juice or coke to it. This is not okay if your bill comes up to 32.00. For that amount two of the drinks need to come correct. We tip the waitress do that she did a good job and made sure we left happy. The Live music was good blues night

Awesome music. we saw Josh Lampkin and also Jeremy Thomas. They rocked. The atmosphere of this bar reminds me of up north. very old school and lots of stone and brick. Love it. Do wish the beer was a little bit colder. But other than that everything was right on.

This is a real jazz bar, lots of fun, always an amazing band. Love it! Wished they had food to make it perfect. The place is small which makes it more intimate, definitely a most visit if in St Pete.

What kind of shit bar doesn’t let a 29 year old come into a bar. I’m from Oregon and when you have a change of address you get an address change sticker. Apparently this stupid bar doesn’t allow me in because of the sticker. Ok whatever. Gotta love the shitty bars around here. Horrible service, bad drinks and nothing good to say about them. Could of shown it to him on the Oregon state website for dmv but still wouldn’t have mattered. Or the fact that my younger sister was with me and had the same address as me but hers was ok.

Love live music — love it more for no cover. I like the doors open and people dancing everywhere.

One of my favorite spots in St Pete. The music is always good, and the drinks are the best. If you don’t smoke, they have some outdoor seating. You can still hear the music and enjoy your time, as well as observe some of the other nightlife in St Pete.

Live Music, cocktails and dancing what a great way to spend an evening. I like Ruby’s because they have great live mysic you can shake your tail feathers too. :-) My one complaint is that it’s so smokey. Oh and they don’t have enough funky music, so I guess two complaints. Lounge cat is a band that I think should play here often because it’s funky jazzy that reminds of NOLA music but I never see them there. Just a personal suggestion . There service is great, the drinks are good, the music is good most of the time. Overall this is a fun place to go even if they don’t have enough funky music ;-)

Live music is always entertaining. The place is a bit small but it kind of adds to the overall atmosphere. My only complaint is that it does get hot inside with limited space, lots of bodies, and doors open to the outside. Service is always good and while I don’t smoke cigars, I heard people talking about how great the back bar is. Definitely worth a visit when the weather gets a little bit cooler.

In the mood for live jazz or the blues? Then this is your bar. It looks like one of those cool, dark, unpretentious, low-key type of bars you see in the movies with a great music act energizing the crowd to into a mellow-jazz type of excitement. The place is a nice size but you’re compacted in there. There are also tables just outside so you have more personal space out there with the benefit of being within ear shot of the music. Outside is also a good place to people watch on a busy weekend night since this place is located in the heart of downtown St Pete. I like the drinks bc they were strong. My only complaint is that according to the waitress they have discontinued one of their martinis but it was still on the menu and on the website — so don’t get your hopes up f you want the cupcake martini. I do wish they had more martini options, especially since this is jazz bar.

Couldn’t be happier we found this place. Its small, its dark, its loud, but we had a great time. Happened on Ruby’s by chance — searching Unilocal for places to go with live music after we left Canopy. The band playing was called Souliz, and they should be there every night. Awesome musicianship, wonderful singer, and so much energy that everyone was dancing — either in their seats or at the stage. Ruby’s is a jazz club and cigar bar, so it is a bit smokey and like I said, loud. Also kind of compact, although if you went into the cigar area where the humidors are located(in another room to the side of the stage), you could probably get a seat. We got lucky and showed up just as another couple was leaving. The only complaint is that they had something called a cupcake martini on the menu which my girlfriend was going crazy over possibly getting. However, when we ordered it, we were told it was discontinued. Therefore, she was really disappointed and I thought it might put a damper on the rest of the night. As it turned out, we still really enjoyed ourselves. Stayed for a couple of sets and then made our way home. It might not have been as good or gotten such a good rating if not for the band, but that’s usually the way it is at a live music venue. With a crappy band, this would have just been a dark, smokey, hole in the wall with crappy music. For that reason, I can’t give it 5. The band is not part of the venue. That said, I’ll be back, and if they are simply that good at picking their acts that the next band is just as good, then I’ll kick it up to 5 stars. Great first experience though.

Wow! I have to thank my fellow Unilocalers on this one as it was recommended on a «Talk» conversation. It goes to show you that Unilocal does not disappoint. This is a really fun place and I had a great time. You can’t beat a location that serves good drinks with a live band. Seating is a combination of lounge and round high tops and is not very large. There is some seating on the side walk. I spent my time here standing at the bar really soaking up the friendly staff. While the band was playing a wide variety of songs I was mesmerized by the talent of the barkeep that practiced an art of showmanship, crafting drinks, in a style which was reminiscent of the movie«Cocktails». The waitresses were very friendly offering a wonderful banter of conversation in between serving their other customers. One of the gems of this place is the back connects to the cigar bar and the Irish pub; offering a flexibility that is as generous as its friendliness. Definitely a place to go hang out.

I went to Ruby’s Elixir on my Mom’s birthday. She likes listening to a local jazz singer named Cleo Heart and she happened to be playing here the night we came here. I never knew Downtown St. Petersburg was buzzing with so much life. Ruby’s Elixir fits in perfectly with the neighborhood surrounding of late-night restaurants, bars, and clubs. The place isn’t large and they only have select liquors and beers with one bar and a few tables and chairs, but there is outdoor seating as well and with a singer like Cleo Heart, you can be outside and still enjoy her voice. The place is lively and people dance on the dance floor and everyone was having a good time here. The people walking by would peek inside to see what everyone was laughing and buzzing about. The waitresses were friendly, albeit a little loopy. Overall a pretty solid place, we walked over from Ceviche and it wasn’t a long walk at all. This place has lots of live musicians come through so I’d say if you like live music you should give it a whirl and see what you think.
