Terrible. Terrible. In desperate need of a good manager.

CLOSED! There is not much more to say but apparently Unilocal won’t post a one word review.

The servers were not well trained but very friendly and the food was not up to par. Worst mashed potatoes, duck, and bacon wrapped shrimp, I have ever had. The location is perfect but with horrible food and service this place won’t be open much longer.

Came here with a large party on a Friday night. Granted, it was 830, but we had a rez and expected food. Experience was beyond terrible. Food, while not terrible, was so delayed in coming out, and so haphazard in its appearance. Waitress did her best to manage, but it was clearly a kitchen issue that could not be surmounted. I’m giving one star for the staff, who tried to stay buoyant, but it was pretty awful all around, and if I could just give a ¼ star, I would.

This is a place to come if you want to get away from the crowds on the island. They do have a bar, but the food was less than great and even the credit card machines were down and we had to just leave our information for them to charge later. It was just a mess but I made a promise to try it again in hopes it was just a bad night.

Don’t spend your hard earned money here. Food and service are not good. We went there with a group of eight. The restaurant was out of many items. The tuna was pale and anemic with no flavor. The Salmon was dry with no flavor. The filet was tough. The ribeye steak was mediocre, think Golden Corral streak. In short, don’t waste your time at this poorly run restaurant.

What a disappointment. Last year we ate here when it first opened and it was fabulous! This time the server(Justin) was visibly frustrated by the challenges taking place in the kitchen. And he should have been. The mahi special had imitation crab on it! My wife never got her meal. We left after trying to speak to a manager but no one was available. Very sad because a year ago they were good… $ 104.00 for two cups of soup, bad specials, and my wife NEVER receiving her food… Horrible

Awful. The food tasted as if the vegetables came from a freezer and the mashed potato from a box. Very disappointed.

They must have been having a bad night. The prime rib was served medium well at best, when medium rare was requested. The bison burger was a charred hockey puck. They made another burger that wasn’t any better to be honest. The prime rib was returned too and the server replaced it with a ribeye that was excellent. The manager tried to make things right and comped both dishes. My wife had the duck and it was good.

My husband and I had a delightful dinner tonight. The blue crab corn bisque was delicious. Jim tried the hand cut beer battered onion rings with wasabi ranch dressing. I could make a meal of those. He had the Decoy House Salad with Duck and I had the duck with Tandoori Spice & Maple Sauce with scalloped potatoes and spinach. Everything was delicious and the service was friendly, attentive and knowledgable. We will be back the next time we visit St. Simon’s Island.

The food was good but the service was really bad. I ordered the grouper 11.99 they brought me fish it wasn’t our waiter. He was not around much asked for sour cream never came after a half hour. We went to hostess to get our ticket. They then charged me 32 dollars for the fish. Waiter never did come out and they said well that’s what it was. Very poor will never go back because of it!

The food was fairly good but a wait of 30 minutes for food at lunch in an empty restaurant is ridiculous. The people who ordered takeout received a coupon when the food came out because it took so long!

We had lunch on a Saturday. we were met promptly/friendly at the door and met by our server promptly. Overall the restaurant was fair to good. We liked the menu and décor. I like the side choices without the up charge in going with sweet potato fries for instance. on the downside, they were out of the Asian slaw that day. My ‘blackend’ grouper sandwich was more like char grilled. There were no spices that I could discern, perhaps change the name? My wife’s fish tacos were good but with everything just lack flavor. I added hot sauce to my red beans and rice and that helped but again there isn’t anything that makes it stand out. overall service was very friendly, the prices are $ 2 too high for the quality produced. We didn’t have anything where you go. «hey that is good, try this». I hope they can just add a little seasoning and umpfh to their food and we would be regulars for sure!

Great food. Great atmosphere. Friendly people. Won’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Lobster, fries, nachos, duck… All fantastic!

My wife and I ate at Decoy with a couple friends and we all loved it. Delicious food with great service and atmosphere. We had the lobster nuggets for an appetizer. They were delicious and had great sauces to accompany. For our meals I had the Bison burger and my wife had the blackened chicken nachos. Both were spot on and highly recommended. Can’t wait to visit again!

My husband and I ate at Decoy’s the other night and we both loved the service, the décor, and our meals. I had the pecan crusted snapper and my husband had the fresh fish special. Afterwards we had a drink at the bar and I thoroughly enjoyed my glass of their signature wine, Decoy!

Went to Decoy’s for the first time tonight. The wait staff was very attentive as they refilled our tea — time and time again. The food was average — we just had sandwiches and fries.

Unsatisfying. I understand this restaurant has only been open for three weeks. It shows. First, the good. My extended family dined here tonight, 8 adults and 3 kids. It’s a nice atmosphere and the entire staff, especially our server, were unfailingly friendly and attentive. The menu items and daily specials looked adventurous and tasty, with good options for the kids. They cheerfully accommodated my wife’s dietary restrictions. Bread and appetizers arrived promptly. Good portion size. Now, the bad. Although the restaurant wasn’t particularly busy, we waited for 45+ minutes for our entrees. Twice I had to take my 3-year-old daughter walking outside to keep her from asking *again* «Where’s my mac and cheese?» When the food did arrive, it was accompanied by errors — plates given to the wrong people, fries plated with the wrong entrees, side orders forgotten. The kinds of rookie mistakes that, on their own, are easily rectified and overlooked. But on top of the delay, these became aggravations. Worse, the food itself was merely adequate. Yummy-sounding«Hobo Stew» that was little more than bland vegetable beef soup; bison burger that was just meh; sis-in-law’s pasta dish she didn’t bother finishing. Supremely disappointing, given how delectable everything had sounded(it’s tempting to make a snark about the real«Decoy» here being the menu descriptions — but that’s mean, so I won’t do it), not to mention the price. This restaurant isn’t going to break the bank, but for this price point I want food that’s at least going to be satisfying and memorable. I’ll remember this food, all right, but only because I’m sitting here two hours later pecking out this long-ass review on my iPad with one finger. 1 star for atmosphere + 1 for friendly staff + 1 for benefit of the doubt(I’ve worked in restaurants, I know 3 weeks isn’t long to work out the kinks) = 3 stars.

Had high hopes for this place and dined there about two weeks after it opened. Overall, It was very unremarkable and here’s why: we ordered the«house cut onion rings» from their appetizer menu, priced at $ 5. They brought us six under cooked onion rings. Pretty pricey at almost $ 1 apiece. I ordered the bison burger, priced at $ 15. The menu advertised it as being served with seasoned mayo and sweet mustard. It arrived with a side of ketchup and nothing else. When I asked for mayo and mustard, it was straight from the bottle. For $ 15, I would expect this to be one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. Not quite. The bun dwarfed the patty and the lettuce looked to be the same that they used in the salads. Again, unremarkable, especially for $ 15. My wife had a Cajun red snapper special, which she said was OK, but not great. She described it as somewhat bland. She was surprised when the bill came and her entrée was $ 25. My wife also wanted to order a drink from their speciality drink list; however, the first several drinks she asked for the waitress said they couldn’t make yet. You’d think a place that’s been open two weeks would be able to mix it’s own speciality cocktails. Lastly, we arrived for an early dinner and were seated in the bar area(why not the dining room?). The hostess then seated a couple with an infant in the bar area, which doesn’t seem appropriate. It’s hard for adults to socialize when kids are crying, etc. Our total bill, with gratuity, was $ 75. If one is going to spend that for dinner, try Palmers near the pier. For better food/less cost, try Catch 228 in Redfern Village.
