Had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated even though there were several empty tables. Dinner took over two hours. Service was terrible. Our waiter spent the night entertaining a table of his favorite customers. Asked for more bread. It took 20 minutes. Ordered a glass of wine with my entre — it showed up as I finished. My companion ordered his entre medium — it came out raw and nearly inedible but the waiter never came back to check on us. Dirty dishes sat on nearby tables all night while everyone seemed to fawn over the one table. The food was pretty good but save yourself the trouble and go to halyards or tramici where they treat everyone great — not just their friends and family.

One of, if not the best, dining experiences on the island. The food is top notch and service impeccable. the bar is quite nice too. One thing I should say is that, if you are looking for a place where you can eat quickly and leave, this is not it. This place is a course by course event.

There are a few places on St. Simons and Sea Island the local residents would just as soon keep to ourselves. Its not because we are uninviting of vistors — its because we also cherish our sense of community — of being ‘home’. We know we are blessed with so many wonderful restaurants — largely due to the patronage of seasonal visitors and part time residents alike — but still — it is nice to have a place where you can enjoy a lunch or an evening among friends and neighbors. Delaney’s is one such place — and so it is with some hesitancy that I write of this wonderful restaurant. Still — its only ‘right’ to do so — and indeed visitors SHOULD discover this wonderful place. Chef Tom and his fabulously professional staff make dining at Delaney’s a complete pleasure. Located on Frederica Road, mid-island, and across an interior terrace from Sal’s Pizzaria — another island institution — Delaney’s has, for many years, offered a consistently outstanding and interesting menu for both lunch and dinner. The menu; that is the first unique point. Delaney’s has a wonderful menu — for both lunch and dinner — however, loyal patrons know that two thirds of the offerings are never printed. There are numerous specials for lunch — based on whatever is fleshly on hand in the kitchen, but do not miss the Portabella mushroom ‘pizza’ — and frankly — I love their luncheon salads. They also offer soup and sandwich combinations which change daily — and are highly popular. — For dinner — there will likely be 4 – 6 specials per course, per evening. These will often involve incredible Maine lobster, Bison, beautiful beef selections and of course — the very best seafood available — often swimming hours earlier in the Atlantic… Now WHY all those specials? — Delaney’s is a modern, upscale take on the traditional south Georgia Supper Club — where your waiter or waitress presents the menu personally — spoken and discussed with guests. Again — we are neighbors and friends — the local patrons and the staff at Delaneys. You will interact with your waiter and he/she will work with you to create a most pleasurable meal. At Delaney’s you do not merely look over a menu and dictate your selections. The intent of this level of personal attention is — far from being ‘pretentious’ as someone here claimed — intended to make the restaurant very intimate and inviting. The staff is not merely professional — but truly concerned about making your visit as pleasurable as possible. On the other hand — the patrons are a respectful group — and appreciate a quiet, pleasant atmosphere in which they can greet one another, yet talk intelligently and privately at their tables. Delaney’s loves their loyal local neighbors — they know us, they remember our likes and preferences, they are more than ready to help us entertain friends, family and visitors — and they are alert to our tastes. On one visit a few years ago — when we were entertaining a group of 4 highly discerning friends from out of state — as the first course orders were being taken — one person simply asked if the salad would have any cheese on it. Her question was answered«we can certainly omit the feta if you wish and let me suggest — we could replace it with… «She was delighted and smiled — to which he answered only) «We can adjust almost any meal on the menu for you, just let me know what interests you.» «thank you!» she answered — — She and her husband mentioned later they were HIGHLY appreciative of his quick and quiet acknowledgement of her need to avoid dairy products. No long, public, embarrassing discussion of her dietary limits needed. At lunch you will find groups of women or men enjoying conversation, one or two tables engaged in a ‘working lunch’ — and small tables of couples or close friends enjoying the day. In the evening the atmosphere is strongly social — albeit large or small tables — it will be an evening among friends — and the patrons choose to dress as what we call ‘sea island casual’ — Jackets, but ties or no ties for men — and in most cases a skirt and jacket for women. When you ask a local resident — ‘Which do you think is the best restaurant on the island’ — the question refers to quality, service and atmosphere — — and while the answer would likely involve a list of 4 or 5 top notch, dearly loved restaurants — year in and year out, Delaney’s is most often mentioned first.

Don’t be fooled by the pub-sounding name; Delaney’s is an upscale restaurant with a comprehensive wine list, white table clothes and wait staff who are well versed in their menu. We had ostrich and lamb chops, both of which were prepared wonderfully. And as a pleasant surprise, we tried the chocolate carrot cake, which had the texture of carrot cake, the classic cream cheese icing, and a very rich chocolaty flavor. Some things to note: They have wines by the glass although it’s not listed on the wine menu. Also, the restaurant is tucked away in a small strip of shops and is not visible from the street. The sign for the shops does not display Delaney’s name very prominently, so keep your eyes open.

One of my favorite places to eat. The list of specials typically outweighs the menu. It’s possible to eat tapas or a full course meal. Recently I saved room for dessert and was not disappointed. Anything from wild game to seafood is fantastic. Don’t go on Valentine’s day; it is too crowded with a limited menu.

Had a very disappointing meal here. Our group ordered the oysters as an appetizer. We aren’t a picky group and never ever returned a dish but the oysters were awful. The long list of specials all sounded good. I asked the waiter the best piece of meat he recommended. Of course he stated the most expensive item the ribeye. However when the«ribeye» arrived it wasn’t a cut for ribeye. It looked like eye of the round. Also way to over cooked. The other two people in our party didn’t like their meals, flounder and chicken. I will never go back here again.

Everything was perfect from start to finish. The food and service were equally great. The staff greeted us right away and they worked together to ensure we were always taken care of. A perfect example of service. They made sure we didn’t have to wait for anything while at he same time didn’t constantly interrupt us(they were not the hovering staff). I have to be honest, I originally wasn’t all that impressed with the menu prior to going there when I saw it online, but I was pleasantly surprised by their specials. They had almost as many specials as they did on their regular menu. The most unique specials including ostrich and antelope(no, this is not a autocorrect mistake). We started with large sea scallops sautéed in a citrus butter with toasted almonds. I could actually smell the natural sweetness of the scallops before I even put it in my mouth! As large as they were I was taken back by how perfectly cooked they were. The sauce complimented the perfectly cooked scallops and didn’t overpower it at all. We had the strawberry balsamic salmon and the filet of beef Diane. Both were cooked perfectly. It was the freshest salmon I’ve ever had while in the east coast. The salmon was cooked so perfectly that it really didn’t even need the balsamic glaze and it even had a non fish lover want to trade their filet for my salmon! Don’t get me wrong, the filet was equally as good with the Demi glacé, but this is to point out how perfect that salmon was. If I lived there I would definitely be a regular.

We eat here on occasion(we don’t consider ourselves regulars) and have had nothing but excellent service. My wife and I enjoy the atmosphere and the staff is very knowledgeable on the menu, food preparation, and wine recommendations — well trained. Great cuisine. A little pricy, but worth it! We’ll visit again.

Delicious! Sat in the bar area so we could enjoy the tapas menu. Ordered eggplant Napoleon, beet salad, shrimp scampi and a salmon special for the table. All were very tasty and fresh. Loved the Pinot Noir recommendation and service was great. Will visit again.

Spent a wonderful evening here with friends. Our waiter, Mark, did a great job. The specials all sounded so great and he stated that most of the appetizers could be made as entrees– what a novel idea! Well worth at least one splurge if you can do it!

Best food on St. Simon’s and Sea Island. Food is fresh and inspired by a chef who is an artist without going overboard. From escargot, beet salad to great steak or salmon with a mango salsa, Delaney’s never misses a beat. They could serve better wines by the glass but luckily in Georgia, you can cork a bottle and bring it home(their wine list is great). Go – you will not be let down. Reservations are a must unless you get their super-duper early and snag one of the three bar tables or one of their four bar stools.

Great food, friendly and interesting staff and great atmosphere. Food is amazing(At worst it is a bit on the pricey side but the quality matches the price) and the staff is so friendly and attentive. My parents travel this way more frequently and always hit this place for dinner every time they go. The specials are all you need to know as well when ordering. The specials could be a whole new menu. Highly recommend the fresh lump crab meat appetizer and any of the steaks are great as well. Definitely a place to visit on the island

We live on Saint Simons and this is our favorite, high end restaurant. The service is the best and the menu selections are unique. The bar and wine list are very good, and eating at the bar is a good option. This is a great place for special occasions and adult dining. Expensive.

Excellent service, delicious food, nice atmosphere, pricey but worth it. Two of the best meals I have ever had. My girlfriend and I went twice for dinner at Delaney’s. The first time we went in blind, not knowing what this restaurant had to offer. We made reservations early that morning – something I highly recommend doing as it fills up – and were seated shortly after our arrival. Prior to seating, we enjoyed cocktails at the small waiting bar they have in their«bistro» area. I ordered a rye Manhattan and the bartender did a great job with it. The atmosphere was nice and quiet without being stuffy. Mark, our server, came over promptly and welcomed us warmly. Throughout the night he continued to be attentive, courteous, quite helpful, and thoroughly professional. His attention to detail would be welcomed at any fine establishment, but it shined here especially(typically, service is hit or miss in the Brunswick-St. Simons area). The menu was impressive, but the specials were outstanding. Antelope chops, ostrich steak, center cut ribeye, and a few others I can’t remember. I ordered the antelope and it was fantastic. The gf got the mixed grill(two lamb chops, a small veal steak, and a petit filet) and loved it. It was the best lamb we had ever eaten(sorry JMac’s). We also ordered a bottle of Turley Old Vine Zinfandel, a wine that I have not seen on many wine lists, and it was presented and poured just as it was supposed to be. Dessert was an almond and pear tort. A tad dry but very enjoyable nonetheless. Second trip was just as enjoyable as the first. Appetizer was foie gra: delicious. Entrees were ostrich steak and rack of lamb. Everything was perfectly prepared. We ordered a bottle of Bertani 2001 Amarone. Perfect. Delaney’s is the perfect place for business meals, anniversaries, and similar nice occasions. I cannot recommend this place enough. Did I mention they have vintage Macallan single malt?

Had lunch there today — we will never return! The waitress paid attention only to the locals and was rude. The crab«bisque» was more like salty potato soup with extra salt and light on flavor and crab. No apology from the waitress when I returned it, but she didn’t charge me. The blackened fish had curry and other Indian spices — never seen that before, and it was not pleasant. No opportunity to complain, or get drink refills, as the waitress never asked how we were doing, etc. The 20% tip(said to be their policy for 5+ but not stated on the menu) was the final straw. When I complained about it the gentleman working there just turned his back on me. This was a real surprise because I had been there several times for dinners that were good, with good service — but I think the difference was our host(for a seminar) had rented out the entire restaurant.

Great dinner there. We had bacon wrapped shrimp and lump crab meat as appetizers. Fantastic. We followed that with duck breast as one entrée and scallops with a ponzu sauce for another. Incredible. Dessert was a disappointing chocolate pecan pie slice served with ice cream. Very dry. Good wine list. Waiter steered us to good affordable bottle. It was expensive but worth it. Some of the best food on the island. 1⁄2010

Located on North Frederica Road, Delaney’s is one of the best kept secrets on St. Simons Island, with its intimate fine dining atmosphere. Dinner selections are from the freshest seafood, poultry and prime beef. Lunch includes Delaney’s own sautéed crab cakes, fettuccine and an array of light, luscious salads. Delaney’s also offers a Tapas Menu that includes sliders, peppered shrimp, salads and double-stuffed mushrooms. Signature dishes include Grilled Magret Duck Breast with a Thai Peanut Sauce, which is my personal favorite Charred Fresh Foie Gras Verjus, and a variety of fresh seafood and game dishes.
