Every time I come here the wait staff is always breathing down my neck. It seems like an in & out type of Buffett. The quality of the food is not that great. I recommend coming here for lunch because if you come during dinner time it’s really expensive.

Pretty decent buffet. It was very clean and busy when I went in for lunch. The selection is pretty little but everything that they do have out tastes really good! Everything was hot and they def made sure to refill the food when the food was getting low. There was a sushi bar, salad bar, fruit bar, and a dessert bar as well! The waitresses were friendly and 5 stars for them because they made sure to always pick up your dirty plate .1 seconds right after your done! No, seriously.(I tried it three times) As soon as I put that last bite in my mouth I had not one, but two of them speed walking to grab my plate… They eventually confronted each other right in front of me and they both grabbed the one plate. And walked it to the back. So yay and thank you to no dirty plates at my table while I was eating!

Not a fan. Food was low average Chinese fare. The food could definitely have been warmer. Saw some reviews that were great and some that were bad. We should have probably stayed away but there not too many choices for Buffets around. The place was very busy but it may just be due to the lack of buffets in the area? Beef teriyaki was fatty and the texture made it feel under cooked. On a positive note the water was really good.

East Sakura is my families favorite buffet and Asian food restaurant. I do the same thing every time we go there. I start with a plate of chilled muscles and peel & eat shrimp with cocktail sauce. That and a bowl of The Best Egg Drop Soup and Hot & Sour Soup. My second course is some traditional Chinese food items. Chicken wings, Scallion Pancakes, Lo Mien, Crab Rangoon, and some Maki Rolls. Last course, Maki Roll’s and Sushi. The hostess and bartender are always very friendly and thankful that we were there. They always Say thank you before we exit the building. The restaurant is always clean. If you know of a better place, let me know. I don’t think a better Asian Buffet exists!

We eat here several times a week. We love the huge selection of food. We’re vegan and they usually have asparagus, mixed vegetables, green beans and mushrooms. They also have a large selection of seasonal fruits. If you’re not vegan they also have a lot of meat or seafood selections. You get a lot of good food for a small price.

This was a nice change from the regular options in Danvers and Beverly. For an $ 8.00 lunch with 100 options some are going to be great, some mediocre, and some ehhh. The great I will simply touch upon as it would have been much more at whole foods… Fresh, juicy mellon and pineapple. Soft light fluffy steamed white rice. Good hot tea. Great fried rice. Miso soup that you make yourself. Some appetizers. The okay portion would be the various meat dishes. Depending on how long they have been sitting there they have variable levels of attractiveness. I wish they just put a microwave out so you could reheat perfectly great food that got somewhat lukewarm. The most important perk, other than affordable lunch, fantastic fresh fruit/salad/soup/rice, is perhaps the most important to me, which is studious atmosphere. I love about this restaurant and Chinese restaurants in general… The culture places such emphasis on academic achievement that there is support for studying. I can achieve incredible levels of concentration and focus and no one is rushing me out of the door! Chinese buffet restaurants are not meant for 4 – 5 star food. But regardless of the spread, we can always count on great rice, soup, fruit and salad. Its a great$ 8.00 lunch!

Let’s start with the positive, we were seated right away. The food selection is tremendous! There’s something for every palette. But at the same time cooking all that food must make it hard to keep it all hot and that is certainly what we discovered. The food was lukewarm and the music was very loud.

I went there for couple times, the first time I went there on Wednesday for lunch, there are a lots of choice for only $ 8.99! The food is soooooo delicious!!! The place is unlike other restaurant! It’s clean! I also went there on weekend with my family for a dinner, it was $ 15.99. Which is much more seafood, and they have a teriyaki, a chief cook in front of you, it’s all included! When I have a crab, the waitress gave me a cracker before I asked! That’s so sweet! However! It’s a awesome place to go! It’s totally valuable, it’s good for have a dinner or even have a party, it will make you look nice, but also save your money! It’s unlike other general buffet place! Highly suggested!

The food is what you should expect at a typical buffet — nothing fancy, but tasty nonetheless. My only issue is how the staff hangs over you like a bunch of hawks. I get why they do it, but it’s aggravating either way. When we are looking for a «date night», I refuse to go here. This is more for a quick meal, not a place to relax after a long week!

My bf and I walked in and were seated right away. The food was good. I enjoyed the scallion pancakes and the california rolls the most. All the ice cream was melted and soft BC they keep the freezer door open?.. I just found it a little expensive for the quality of the food. Also, there was a woman yelling in Chinese to a man pulling a crate where all the food was. It was awkward.

Don’t go to this restaurant. 8 of us came to celebrate my mom’s birthday and had a horrible time. Servers didn’t speak English and instead of 8 shots of vodka brought us 8 shots of water. Healthy but it wasn’t what we ordered. I had to go to the bar and got 8 warm shots of vodka by myself. I spoke with manager and told her that we were getting a very bad service but she just gave me a look like«what do you want for your $ 16, go and drink your vodka at home». Then I tried to order oysters from a guy who was supposed to shack them in front of you. But the guy told me that he is too busy to do them and gave me an evil look also. After this magically nobody would clean our plates, bring us water and ask if we need anything. Bring your friend and relatives to this restaurant only if you don’t ever want to see them again. The manager in this restaurant has absolutely no clue how to run business in America and I hope that someone will check a quality of their food because I had a horrible stomach ache after I tried their sushi. Definitely don’t spend Mother’s Day in this place.

Very rude. The manager doesn’t even speak English for me to even explain my situation to them. They automatically charged my 10 year old child an adult price without asking. Then I asked a server about the price she called me a lier saying she’s too big for 10! Then my child tells the woman how old she was and her birthday. The server looked my 10 year old up and down and walked away. Furious cannot explain how the customer service is at this place plus the price isn’t work the food.

«Meh. I’ve experienced better.» Is a great explanation for this place, so 2-stars is just right. I’m kind of Jekyll and Hyde with East Sakura, though. I want to say that the sushi that you order a la carte while sitting at the bar was tasty, as was the saki, but pretty expensive for the establishment. The prices are on point with Gourmet Garden of Swampscott. If you have some dough, live in the area, and want some quick sushi at a place with plenty of parking, go for it because it does taste good.(If I can quickly and quietly be the teeniest bit picky, the rolls were loose – they just were – but I wouldn’t take points away for that because I could still pick them up with the chopsticks, and this ain’t downtown Boston) –I can’t remember the rolls we got, but they were yummy. As for appetizers, the boiled and salted edamame was good, the seaweed salad was not. The house wine was also not good. I felt like a d**ch* b*g, but I actually sent the merlot back because I just could not drink it. On the other hand, the buffet was gross. I tried 80−85% of the items. Everything just tasted so… off. All the options that you’d expect were available – they just didn’t taste good. Not even the desserts! There was, however, a cookies and cream ice cream that saved the day, and the meal, so I didn’t leave too unhappy. At a buffet, I don’t judge the place by its staff, so they are not the reason that I am not going back for the buffet. Although they were impatient and unresponsive, they did seat us and clear the plates quickly. I will never go for the buffet again, and I would advise others against it. If it were just for the buffet, this place would only get one star. I would go back for sushi a la carte if a friend asked me for lunch or something, though. Good luck!

Sushi oysters and dragons East Sakura Boofay is a pleasant and very clean place that has many of the typical Asian American things as well as some pretty nice seafood. It has kind of a cool décor with funny looking dragons and other odd themes. It’s a decent sized place with a good selection but not as huge as some of the really monstrous boofays. Sakura has lots of rice and veggie items for someone who doesn’t like flesh but plenty of meat for carnivores. Even has a nice little Mongolian grill. The inside is bright and spacious with plenty of room between the tables so your gluttony won’t be interfered with The employees weren’t exactly friendly but they were very efficient in taking away empty plates and filling water which is all you really need in a boofay. The nicest parts of this boofay is the reasonable price and the seafood like clams, shrimp and oysters. It’s not a real seafood boofay with lots of sea bugs but certainly enough to make a meal interesting. Definitely one of the better boofays in the area. A decent selection. fresh and tasty food, some good sea creatures and a reasonable price. About all you could want in a boofay.

As a college student, I love their lunch specials. For a wide selection of food for only $ 8.99 plus tax, it’s a steal. Their buffet isn’t big like Minado or Maki Maki, but for it’s price, it’s definitely acceptable. They offer sushi, typical Chinese food, seafood, fruits, and desserts(ice cream, cakes). East Sakura used to be another buffet called Mandarin which also had good food, but I slightly like East Sakura more just because they added sushi to their menu. Hear me out when I tell you their bathrooms are clean. The little things like this help restaurants, honestly. And like most Chinese restaurants, the waiters don’t really say much, but it doesn’t really bother me. My waiters are always very attentive and pay attention when I need more water.

Every Chinese buffet ever serves greasy and artery clogging food. And this is probably one of the bests coma inducing buffets out there. Have you ever just said I want to eat greasy food that makes me hate myself after? This is the place I go to satisfy that urge. It’s always a fight for the salty crab legs, but they have endless oysters. Remember to tip the oyster guy at least 1 $ for a plate or he will give you the dirtiest looks while wielding his little knife. Sushi is okay but I like the ones with the spicy crab meat the most I probably eat 20 pieces each time I go. Food is typical chinese food. Ive been to a lof of buffets and sadly this is the best in the area. I like the smoothies but icecream sucks btw. This is a chinese restaurant service is basically 0 and youre lucky not to get yelled at. Places where waiters dont speak english dont even dream of using a visa giftcard or something they havent seen before. Save yourself the pain. You should see the service in Chinatown… All in all its okay but when you want to be fat this is the place to go.

I used to be a regular at the old Mandarin. While I still miss Ming and his family, the East Sakura was great! They added a sushi bar and the teppenyaki station. The prime rib was delicious, and everything was hot. Our waitress was very attentive and never left our water glasses empty, which is important when eating chinese food. All in all our experience here was great. Its an AYCE buffet with a little more. Come expecting that, and you won’t be dissappointed.

Lots of selection, good food, seems fresh for a buffet, and quick service in the way of getting seated and having your old plates picked up. It’s a very large restaurant. It’s never been too crowded when I’ve gone. I really like that they have real ice cream and ice cream cones! Most buffets I’ve seen have soft serve and no cones. Weekday lunch price is great, but dinner pricing on both weekdays and Saturdays, and all-day Sundays are more expensive. I don’t like that they raise their prices on weekends, but a lot of buffets I’ve seen do that. There’s one thing that is kind of off-putting. There are signs throughout the buffet saying that you’ll be charged for anything you don’t eat. I’ve never had it happen to me, but it makes me anxious that it could be at their discretion to charge you more if they decided you didn’t finish enough of your plate.

The restaurant is pretty spacious and on a weekday night — it makes the place look really empty even though there were 5 – 6 parties. The restaurant offers a huge array of buffet items ranging from sushi, american, chinese(both authentic and non), salad bar, fresh shucked oysters/cherrystones and ice cream bar. The selection is bound to please everyone in the group(though they can increase the vegetarian options a tad bit more). While they offer an ample buffet selection — the food quality and taste falls a bit on the flat end. Most of the items I’d tried were mild in flavor — ie lack seasoning. Some items, I didn’t even bother trying(ie questionable freshness) because it look like it was sitting out there for too long. I guess you can’t really expect much for $ 14.99(price for Mon-Thurs. dinner buffet). It is still a decent value for the options. Something to point out — I don’t think it is safe or appealing for staff to start cleaning(ie mopping the buffet areas and bathrooms) leaving the floors a bit wet with no signage while customers are still dining in the restaurant. Some areas were slippery. Service was pretty standard.
