Starting my review as I wait for my food… It’s a very busy Friday evening, most tables are occupied — a lot of families — and there is a brisk takeout service. They seem to be understaffed tonight. Décor is fairly plain, waitress is helpful in helping me decide on a dish. Service/kitchen is fairly slow compared to typical Chinese restaurants where the dishes are often served within 10 minutes of ordering. It looks like there’s just one waitress serving 12 tables right now, plus she’s bringing some takeout orders to the front. Prices are very reasonable and there are a good variety of dishes available, but the menu isn’t overly large like some Chinese restaurants tend to be. A cup of soup comes with most dishes. The hot & sour soup is more sour than hot — I’ve never experienced that before. There are spicy undertones in the soup — my preference would be to have the hot emphasized and the sour toned down. Ordered the Mongolian Beef — one my favorite dishes. After about 55 minutes(!), my meal finally arrives. I’m thinking that I could have phoned in a takeout order and had it delivered to my table and it would have been faster. The dish size is generous, but the bowl of rice is on the skimpy side. All the ingredient taste fresh and the beef is very tender. Overall, the dish is tasty and to my liking, though not among the very best Chinese I’ve ever had. I would rate the food at 4 stars, but I’m knocking down Gold Dragon’s overall rating to 3 stars due to the sliw service.

My favorite Chinese food restaurant in town. My family is pretty picky about restaurants and this one won the seal of approval out of all the ones we’ve tried! I like their Lo mein better than anyone else’s in town. I also really recommend their sweet and sour chicken, mushroom beef and honey walnut shrimp. Lots of different options that are all delicious, so it doesn’t wind up being one of those«I always get the same thing» restaurants.

I absolutely love golden dragon! I always come in after a long day of work and the staff is very sweet. My favorite meal is the sweet n sour tofu. My boyfriend likes the sesame beef. The yakisoba is also quite good! Lots of yummy veggies. To all of you who complained about not getting soup. It only comes with select meals, not all. And if you don’t receive your soup, just ask! These people work very hard and deal with lots of difficult customers. To all of you complaining about not getting tea, tea is not complementary at most restaurants. You cannot assume that you can go to any Asian restaurant and receive tea. And if you want tea, ask about what kinds they have, don’t just assume it’s green. GEEZ. This restaurant is awesome! 10⁄10 would recommend!

Best chinese food I’ve ever had. Sesame chicken was perfectly crispy and tender, Mongolian beef so flavorful and just done right. Service was excellent. Best food I’ve had in salem was oregon.

The server washed condiment in the hand washing sink. I never saw her was her hands after cleaning a table. She filled water pitchers in the hand washing sink also. The food did not taste like I expected, it was blah. I don’t believe I will go back.

Well I have eaten here twice. First time I ordered chicken yakisoba, second time got that again non crispy this time since I had no idea they make croûton like noodles. and 10 crab puffs. The food is bland has an uninteresting flavor if it even has some at all and tasted better cold? The crab puffs were plenty but were dry and had barely any filling. ugh waste of money! Can’t believe I gave them a second shot! Won’t be back. just head on over to yummy bowl down commercial away from here and get you some good food!

Well my whole family got sick after eating here yesterday. The service was terrible. I had to ask for my drink twice. The server seemed in too much of a hurry to even take our order. The rice was old and crunchy. The atmosphere is awful. The fortune was the best part.

The food is always good but one server during their busiest times is a bit unnecessary, hire one or two servers to help the customers and it would be nicer

My wife and I have been going here for years, since before we were married and it was still Eng’s. The food is as good as it ever was, large portions and decent prices. But the service has definitely taken a nose dive lately. The last few times I went in for take out, no effort was made to make eye contact with me. Nobody ever said please or thank you, and I felt very rushed and unimportant, as if I were in the way. I thought it was a pretty rude way to treat a customer. So I guess if service isn’t important to you as long as the food is good, then this place is for you.

Beware they won’t accept coupons on your phone. Food is good and large portions. Call ahead for take out as it is a 15 to 20 minute wait

We just ate here tonight. The food is really fresh. Sometimes when you eat at other Chinese Restaurants the food seems recycled but this place its not! I had the shrimp fried rice and it was the best here in Salem. The sweet and sour chicken was really good too! If you want some Chinese food come here and the prices are not that bad.

It really pains me to write this review, because I have been a fan of Gold Dragon since I was in high school and it was Eng’s. It never disappointed either for eating in or takeout, however the last few times I’ve been there it’s been way worse that it ever used to be. We don’t go here often because it’s pretty far out south salem, and we don’t live on that side of town, but my boyfriend and I used to like their food the best, so we’d go there every once in awhile. Friday when we went there we walked in, they were semi-busy and the waitress told us to just sit wherever we wanted. Waited a bit for water and menus, but no biggie. We ordered, and I asked for tea. Not something I normally would have noticed, but the last 2 times we had been before, we also didn’t get any tea. When we got it, they served us vanilla oolong — which I like, but not with dinner. The flavor was unexpected, and not what we had wanted. After we both ordered, neither of us were served soup either. Again, not a tragedy, but this happened the last time we had come here. I did see her bring out soup to other tables, but not all. I wasn’t sure why we didn’t get offered soup, because we always order the same thing and have gotten it before, so it seemed odd. When we finished, the server brought the check, and we asked for boxes. We waited for a while, and she took out some orders — again, no biggie — but then we saw her take boxes and checks to two other tables while we were still waiting, without any acknowledgement. Again, the food was good — large portions and super hot. Service is just inconsistent whether it will be great or not. Since it isn’t close, it’s extremely disappointing to come in on an «off day».

One of my favorite places for Chinese food. The wait staff is very friendly and have got to know them so that is helpful. The food is good, not gourmet but good and you will not go away hungry here! These is a wide variety to choose from and they cover the basics and have many good specialties. They place could be decorated better, but it’s clean and well kept including the bathrooms. If you like lotto, they have a nice lottery den. They have a swinging deal for lunch everyday(M-F) Give them a try, you will not be disappointed.

It was the husband’s birthday so I decided to get him more Chinese food then he could possibly handle in one evening. For $ 40 I got: crab puffs; egg rolls; fried shrimp; sweet and sour chicken; diced almond chicken; beef and pea pods; house yakisoba; and, of course, fried rice. This is the third evening in a row that we will be having Chinese again. Although I detest most Chinese, I was pleasantly surprised to find yakisoba on their menu. That’s not all that common and although they were overdone for my taste, the flavor was quite good. The best part about this place, aside from the super low prices, is the friendliness of the staff. I ordered to go and was offered water for my wait. They provided my whole huge order in a big box and even provided extra hot mustard and red sauce – and I didn’t even ask for it. I LOOOOVE the hot mustard and red sauce. This place was able to(slightly) change my opinion of Chinese. I will return for a dine in experience and when I do I’m going to try those Singapore fried noodles.

Awesome for take out! We’ve gotten it twice so far since we moved to the area and were impressed both times. We both get pick your own combos and also use the coupon off their website for a free item. The veggies are fresh and it’s not too salty tasting :) portions are huge and we get like 3 – 4 meals from it. This is our go to Chinese take out place from now on!

Ok place for a quick lunch that is inexpensive with large servings… Not a wow for a foodie though…
