It’s a shame to see this place the way it is now compared to what it used to be. It was always busy with a decent sized menu but always great food. I went with my family for brunch and we were shocked to see such a small menu. They had no soup/chowder, no kid’s menu, and failed to mention they had run out of home fries. They were also unsure of if they had chips or not to go with the grilled cheese sandwich we ordered for my neice. The rest of us ordered eggs benedict and were shocked to see it come with french fries. The eggs were overcooked and the rest of the plate was mediocre at best. Upon asking for more hollandaise sauce, the server brought out an ice cold bowl of solidified hollandaise. The overall experience was dismal and I hate to see such an iconic Salem restaurant hangout fall down so hard. The star is for the bloody mary. Other than that, I don’t think I’ll be going back.

First time eating at the Pig in years. Wow! Some of the best ribs I’ve ever had. Great job Chef Tony.

What started so positively lasted a very short period of time. Several different chefs, several attempts and the food has simply been inedible. We’ve given up.

While spending a month in Salem, I visited this delightful establishment often for live music and drinks. The music was always really quite good and the drinks hit the spot. Nice selection to tap beers and excellent cocktails and mixers. I had dinner once and it consisted of delicious pulled chicken and a butternut squash soup. They have delicious sauces to include on the meat. But the thing I love most about this place is the feel you have as you walk in, from the friendly folks to the interior design. If you have a chance, hit the place up for a meal, stay for beverages, and maybe catch some good live music.

The band– great! The bartender– great! The whole bar vibe — great! Then we ordered food at 9:30, when the kitchen closes at 10… — sandwich and side — cold Sent it back, after 10 minutes, was told they turned the grill off, so it would be a bit. Is there not an oven back there??? Got food back the sandwich was closer to warm, side was cold, having worked in kitchens most of my life, I realize people want to get cleaned up and go home, but if you close the kitchen at 10:00, then people can order food til 10:00, so you don’t turn things off til after 10:00, this is common sense in kitchens! If you don’t want to serve food properly, then get another job! This is such a simple customer service thing, I don’t complain much, but this was unacceptable! Being a chef myself, someone would be fired if this happened in my restaurant. — just saying…

Me and my old roomate went here one night for a quick beer while in salem. We walked in and walked right up to the bar. They had been pulling tables so a band or DJ could set up. A woman behind the bar greeted us and put two coasters and napkins down on the bar. Then a fat guy behind the bar whispered in the woman’s ear and she seemed to slip away without asking us what would we like. An older man sitting at the bar with his«date» attempted to intimidate me with multiple over the shoulder looks. My roomate and I caught a good laugh. We stood there for 10 minutes without service looking at all the 50+ year old patrons and we quickly realized we had become victims of age discrimination. We walked out. Bottom line this place sucks

What can I say? I love burgers, bbq, and beer! And they had all of it here, and good. This restaurant is small, cozy, and well set up. There is a vibe about the place, and its brick walls, and wooden bar is the perfect atmosphere. This is corner bar/restaurant with a comfy aesthetic. Love it! I could see myself spending lots of time here. The waitstaff was great, personable, and mindful. Our waiter was wonderful. The food was great. Incredible. The burger I ordered was so flavorful. It had pulled bbq chicken on it, cheese, pickles, and bacon. Two ribs came with it, and the bun was perfect. I can’t rave enough. I put no condiments on it, the true test of a burger is if you can eat the burger without condiments, and have flavor. The macaroni and cheese was the side I chose, which was creamy and wonderful. I love the sides, they have such a selection. It is great to have the ability to chose other than fries or chips. There is a great selection of beers on tap. Narraganset in cans, and ciders from their local cidery, and Downeast Cider from Maine. Such a great restaurant. I’m think about going back there already.

Terrible service. Ordered chili and mac and cheese to go, the portions were horrible they filled the cup up half way! They also charged me for cheese even though it says its supposed to come with it! They dont pay any attention to you after when they first sit you down. Witnessed this poor old man hovering by the kitchen door just so he can order a coffee! The waitress was not very competent, and why wasn’t she wearing deodorant!?? I’m sorry, maybe you have your values but I don’t like smelling BO around food. Knowing that there is bad hygiene in a restaurant? Not cool, bad service — not worth it.

The food here was pretty good. A nice selection of American bbq and pub grub. Our original waiter was super rude and kind of smart mouthed us when we asked what beers were on tap. When I asked about the Pumking beer he was snarky and scolded me not to look at the board they had displayed over the bar. He checked on us only once more towards the end of the meal after another waitress, Cassie –who had ended up helping us the rest of the time(bringing us waters, checking on us and talking to us) — had already brought us the check. She was very friendly and very attentive especially in comparison to Mr. krabs. The food was delicious, except for the Mac and cheese which was a bit milky and bland. The rest of the food we ordered was good. Cool interior with portraits of witches on the wall to fit in with the scenery. Salem is a cool place. We’ll come back for the fries but not the bald guy.

Food was delicious! Cozy atmosphere and our server, Michael, made us feel right at home. I’ve been here a few times, but this was my first time under the new ownership. We will definitely be coming back!

This is a small quaint pub. Our waiter, Adam was very friendly and attentive. The pulled pork sandwich was moist, flavorful and delicious. The beef Eggrolls were also quite good and the portion was big enough to eat as a meal. We highly recommend this place.

What a great experience! Love it when you walk into a place and they treat you like family. We had a fabulous lunch of fried pickles, pulled pork sandwich and andouille sausage sandwich. The pork was juicy with no need for the sauce so it just became what it should be – an added bonus instead of a necessity. The sausage sandwich had amazing flavor with the coleslaw on top. The street corn side is incredibly inventive and super flavorful. We happened to come in on a Friday afternoon just before they set up for the Friday Blues Jam so we decided to stay. Second best decision of the day – the first being the one to stop here in the first place! The drinks are generously poured, complementary BBQ appetizers are served, the place is a solitary packed with a fun crowd, and the music is super entertaining. Every staff member we came in contact with during what turned into a 5 hour stay had the same genuinely happy-to-serve-you attitude. Go here. You won’t regret it!
