Awful customer service and worse yet, awful food! There wasn’t anyone in the«restaurant» when I went to order some take out. The woman was super rude, cold and acted like I was bothering her when I placed my order(!?!). They kept me waiting for a long time, which was hard to understand why since no one else was there(during what should have been a busy dinner time… should have been my first clue to leave). The food was super greasy and made me sick! WARNING! Don’t waste your money on a business that not only provides bad customer service but also horrible food!

Mei-Hoo is 100% better than anything around. We have tried about 6 or 7 chinese restaurants from pelham, salem, lowell and dracut since moving to the area. Nothing has come close to Mei-Hoo. My fellow Worcesterites will understand this, it’s Worcester Chinese food.

We found this place around 6 months ago. Went inside to eat and found the food really delicious. Have been back a few times since. We always have an early Chinese food dinner on New Years Eve. Picked up the food and they sent a nice calendar with it. Thank you.

I always drove by this place in traffic on rt 28 and I finally stopped in! We’re so happy I did! We(BBB and the hub :)) loved everything we ordered. Ordered the crispy beef which is essentially your salt and pepper beef! Nothing left! Ordered some chicken fingers for the lil one and he loved them … We love how they are not super heavy on the batter. The beef fried rice(white rice style) was fantastic… My hub and I were eyeing the last in the take out box, but we shared :) The Peking«spaghetti» lo mein was very good. We also got sweet and sour soup but we have not tried it yet. The complimentary rolls were very good and ate them all! With the duck sauce :) I made a few adjustments when the order was in already… But the girl working at the front counter was was extremely nice and easy to work with. She wasn’t phased as I asked a few times haha. Definitely will come back! We will try other dishes so we don’t miss out on the variety!

I wNt to review them on food only, as this is a takeout place, that has a few tables as a Courtesy. Ive tried all the takeouts in town and some more pricey. This is my 5 th time ordering here and each time the food was ready for me within 5 minutes of the time they said. The chicken wings, moo shi, lo mein, egg foo young and garlic sauce, is the best ive tried. The fried rice isnt my favorite but my daughter loves it If i could give 4.5 i would have, but 5 is more deserving than 4 stars

Can I give a negative number? NEVERORDERHERE!!! I ordered, called 2 hours later to see where my delivery was and was told«I don’t give a shit about this» and when I asked if he really didn’t give a shit he said«the manager not here I don’t give a fuck we closed»… they close at 930, it’s 900.

We like this place. It’s not Kowloons by any means but it’s good for the area. We like ordering on line and paying online too. Delivery is pretty fast. We have no problems with the food except for the chicken fingers, way to much batter. If they had less batter they’d be way better. Wish they could deliver us a maitai. .LOL

Basically a take out joint with a small eating area that is clean. $ 2.25 for a Spring Roll, I thought it would be something special for that price, pretty much same as anywhere, small and tasteless. Disapppointment.
$ 9.50 for a order of Kung Pao Shrimp. It was basically 95% chopped celery, almost no shrimp. It was in a soupy mess. Waste of money. $ 10.00 Kung Pao Chicken combo plate. Two or three slivers of chicken in the Kung Pao mix, loved the heat but chicken is almost non –existent. The plate comes with two pieces of Chicken Teriyaki(tasty), Crab Ragoons(same as anywhere else) and fried rice(same as anywhere else). The upside of this meal is that it will fill you up, it’s a lot of food for the price. Lo-Mein. They use a smaller noodle than most other places and was bland. I wouldn’t order again.
A few years ago this place was really good, not the same as it once was. I used to go here because it was clean & still appears to be. It seems they have gotten cheap with some of their dishes. $ 9.50. For Kung Pao Celery? that’s basically what is was. If you stick with the combo plates you will get just another Americanized Chinese meal that will satisfy your craving.

Super slow takeout(waited about 45 mins for my delivery) and food really wasn’t that great. I ordered an egg roll(which was OK), hot and sour soup(tasted slightly burnt), and Hawaiian chicken(which was just nasty). I also ordered a coke for which I paid $ 2. It was not in my order. I called to complain and they said they would come back with it but they never did. I tried calling again but they didn’t pick up. Guess they recognized my number and knew I would be PISSED(which I am). What a terrible way to treat a customer. Never again!

Order from here all the time. Very good and fresh. Crab rangoons are awesome, as well as all the other appetizers. Never had a bad experience. Had a delivery last week where they forgot my order of teryiaki. They redelivered in record time. Awesome service.

Been ordering from this place for years, throughout multiple management changes. I usually only get one dish from them, but tonight they just lost me as a customer. I called up to get my normal order delivered, General Gao’s Chicken and Boneless Spareribs. It came, and there was some type of ragoon, shrimp/crab, I don’t know I immediately threw it out as I don’t touch anything from the ocean. I called up and she said remind her next time and she will give me extra and hung up while I was talking. I called back and said she just hung up on me, and her response was she is so busy. Well she can be a little less busy as this long time, loyal, and frequent customer won’t be ordering from here anymore. Whenever they are busy, they mess up orders. If they mess up an order, it can take 5 hours to get the right order replaced, if they bother at all. They like to just tell you to order again another day. UPDATE6−01−16 Gave this place another try and still just as bad. They messed up order and called to get it corrected and they said I was lying and hung up within 15 seconds while I was talking. Very rude.

How simple is this, I ordered soup to go without the Tofu and guess what, loaded with almost no soup. Stay away there are better choices in Salem

Meihoo is the best place in Salem for Chinese takeout, IMHO. I find myself stopping in here quite often for lunch and dinner takeout on the weekends. There’s also a clean dining area with self serve seating. I’ve enjoyed several lunch specials and dinner combination plates served with pork fried rice(light brown color) & appetizer(s), including the pork lo mein, chicken chow mein, pork egg foo young with gravy(served in its own separate bowl), Peking spaghetti(with a very spicy ground pork sauce/no rice included), chicken teriyakis(plump and juicy), beef teriyakis(tender beef with a sweet & smoky flavor), crab rangoons, and crisp chicken tenders(white meat). The food has been consistently great each time, cooked hot and fresh to order with good portions, fair prices, and prompt service.

This Chinese take out restaurant in Salem NH is well overrated in most previous reviews. The dishes we ordered were not hot, were greasy and were refried so not fresh. On top of that the prices were high. There must be better places in the area.

I hate to say this is some of the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had. I am new to Salem and read some of the reviews. Since all were positive I figured it had to be good. Wrong. The chicken fingers were overcooked, very dry. The generals chicken was terrible. The sauce had no flavor and the chicken was like overcooked chicken nuggets. The rice had no flavor. Even the scallion pancakes were awful. The list goes on and on. Next time I’ll try Lucky Dragon.

Place is OK. Went to try some of their food vs others last night. Appetizers were OK. More batter than chicken on the chicken fingers. Egg rolls were small and probably commercially made. Fried rice was light in color vs the traditional dark brown. Lo mein was decent. Don’t think I’d drive to Salem from Methuen for their food. I miss China Tea House…

It is my opinion that Mei Hoo is one of the most traditional and better Chinese restaurants in the Salem/S. NH area. They specialize in Cantonese and szechuan Polynesian cuisine. I love their house special crispy fried noodles, scallion pancake, and chicken w/string beans. The place is small, and very clean. The owner is very friendly and remembers you when you come back. They do special orders too.
