I went in the morning to buy bread and I saw some young children on the floor playing with the bread tongs. I realized the children belonged to the owner or employee. Instead of the owner or employee(I don’t think an employee would be allowed to take their children to work) taking the tongs away from their children and washing them, she asked the children to put the tongs back and they did unwashed. Customers were walking in and using them. I was in shock and disgusted by it. I left not purchasing any bread and never returned and this happened a few years ago. I would like to believe that the business is keeping the utensils sanitary by now. I will not return.

Their Mexican pan dulce is good. It’s nothing special. They have the usuals like puerquitos, conchas, cuernos but also some unique Guanajuato specialties. It seems as though they only make bread once a day, early in the morning so the bread tastes a bit on the stale side. The bolillo is a bit tough and the prices are a little on the higher side. I paid close to $ 5 for 6 pieces of bread consisting of mini conchas(which are supposed to be cheaper) and bolillo(usually the cheapest piece of bread).

Best Mexican bread in town. Thy stay open later than most other salinas bakeries, and they are always so friendly and attentive, traits that sadly the other bakery chain has lost. Try the«gusanos» next time your in. It’s a genius twist on the classic«elote» bread. You won’t be disappointed.

So I went out for Breakfast and I had the craving for Mexican Sweet Bread. you know like a CONCHA, CUERNOS, or even a damn Donut… I know donuts are not mexican, but they are made by them. So luckily there was one right close to where my friend lives and I said what the hell let’s give it a try. Well as soon as I go in there I can smell the lovely aroma of bread floating through the air. Now I have been to a lot of Panaderias(Bakery) in Los Angeles and most of them are not the cleanest it can be, but this one was and it shocked the hell out of me. Now the bread is awesome. I took a bite of my sweet bread and it just was so moist. I couldn’t put it down or stop eating until there was all gone. There have been some drug in there because before I knew it, I had just finished three more breads. Yes I am «fluffy», not fat… yet. But damn it was tooooo damn good to put it down. If you are ever in Salinas… I am sorry, but hey, why not stop by and hit this panaderia while you are there.

Panaderia Acambaritas is not your traditional mexican bakery. It’s BETTER!! When you first walk in you are greeted by the super friendly people that work there. Next the smells surround you and take over all of your senses. The bakery specializes in breads baked in a particular style, Acambaro Guanajuato style, hence the name. They are pretty much open all day(5 or 6 a. m to 10PM). They sell like hundreds of different types of bread and cookies, churros, cakes, flan, sodas, coffee, ice cream, newspapers, and even phone cards :). I go there everyother day and everytime i walk out of there a happy woman. The owners of the place are a great family, so go give them your business!!!
