The wife and I stopped by on Saturday, August 29, 2015 around 3:30 in the afternoon. We found the place on Google maps as we navigated through the area. First of all, appearance, the front of the place looks a bit out dated. We thought for a second that the restaurant was closed. The interior looked dark through the window. As we entered, it was dim, dreary and with a somber ambiance. We were greeted immediately by a female waitress and she seemed polite and escorted us to a booth. There were about four other patrons inside. The menu has a large selection to choose from. No salt and pepper chicken. I ordered the cashew nut chicken and my wife ordered the sweet and sour chicken with the sauce on the side. With no MSG as always. The wonton soup was a little too peppery but tasty. My cashew nut chicken was delicious and my wife enjoyed her orange chicken as well. The egg rolls were some of the best I’ve had in a while. We have tried several Chinese restaurant throughout the United States as we travel frequently and this is one of the best restaurants so far. I would recommend this place to others. Perhaps the negative reviewers caught the chef on a bad day. Enjoy! God bless this country and our troops… Hooah!

Husband has a cold so we’re getting some take out. Got some hot and sour soup for him, an order of egg rolls and some pot stickers. Soup was very good just the right amount of mushrooms, bamboo shoots, egg and shredded pork. The broth had the right amount of hot and sour vinegar too. The egg rolls were nice and crunchy, not greasy. But the veggies were a little tuff and hard to chew. The pot stickers had some thick dough with pork, water chestnuts and ginger stuffing. Overall it was good for takeout.

I have been coming here for years. The last 3 times within this year(2015) it has been down right awful… The first time i shrugged it off, the 2nd time I thought well maybe a new chef. the 3rd time pissed me off. The broccoli was yellow and hard not even cook a little, the orange chicken had a bad after taste for a long time, and the sweet and sour pork was god awful. i don’t know what is going on there, but this has got to be the worst. will never ever go there again

We have been going to this restaurant for YEARS. We love the family atmosphere. The owners are a couple and very friendly. Their children have been the wait staff since they were big enough to do it. Very friendly. The hot and sour soup is amazing. Our other favorite is hunan beef. We have also done take-out. Order is done correctly and timely. We have been to a lot of Chinese restaurants and this compares to some of the best in San Francisco. Good job guys!

Wow. No good. Food quality poor and not tasteful. Prices high. It does as if it is full of MSG and high fructose. Not sure if the shrimp is even shrimp… kinda scary.

My girlfriend and I were shopping in Gilroy and on our way home she was craving Chinese. I told her I didn’t know any place in Gilroy. She said«It’s ok, I know of a place in Prunedale» and took me here. I would’ve never considered coming out to Prunedale for Chinese food, but apparently she comes here 3 times a week! So, it must be good. We ordered the Seafood soup with sizzling rice to start. The soup broth was very flavorful, not from a can-type-of-taste. The waitress brought out our soup and after setting it down on the table, she puts in deep fried rice into the soup… and crack: crack:crack. Indeed the rice sizzled. The soup was really good! It came with plenty of big shrimp, imitation crab, veggies. Loved it on a rainy day. After a few bites of our soup, we felt a sudden jolt in the ground… EARTHQUAKE! I looked at her and the rest of the patrons in the restaurant… no one budged… But my thoughts were«Do I continue eating this soup??? or duck and cover!!! But then the soup would get cold» lol Of course we just continued eating. lol Nothing gets in the way of the food unless the ceiling comes down ;) We also ordered the Hong Kong style crispy noodles. This is one of my favorite dishes at any Chinese restaurant. I wish they gave more sauce to help soften the noodles though. This dish was a crispy fried noodle bed with a giant mound of beef, chicken, shrimp and mixed veggies in a brown sauce. It’s definitely something to share family style. We also ordered the Schezuan triple something. I was so full from the soup and the noodles that I barely ate this one. It was good though. This dish didn’t lack any flavor… in fact it was packed with flavor. The great thing about this place is that it doesn’t skimp out on the portions, especially for the price. Overall, service was good and food came out fast. The atmosphere in the restaurant can use a makeover though. Was a little dreary in there. Would come back again.

Went here with my daughter and we started off with their house noodle soup which was very bland. We ordered our main dishes, beef chop suey, house fried rice and the general chicken. The chop suey and fried rice were mediocre. The general chicken was super thin pieces of chicken that were fried then covered in a salty spicy sauce. The chicken was so thin that it appeared to be almost like fried chicken skin. In fact it tasted like nasty fried chicken skin. The wait staff is very unprofessional. They basically give the impression that they don’t want to be there. Drive an extra few miles an go elsewhere.

Alright, so I’m the kind of person who likes to give places a chance to redeem themselves. Working in customer service, it can be hit and miss. So the first time I came here I got the lunch special. Price was great, portions were very generous! I kept it simple, «veggie delight» Seems hard to ruin, huh? My problem was that it was drenched in some kind of sauce that was PUUUUURESALT. I asked if I could trade it, because it was too salty. The waitress(maybe 15?) says, ummmm I don’t know. It will probably take too long. I just laughed, and said, it’s ok, I’ll share with my kids. They had the broccoli beef lunch and sme thing, drenched in salt! We just pd the bill and left. 2nd time, I thought, well, I’ll give them another shot. My parents came to visit and wanted Chinese food. We ordered take out. It was a dinner for 6 that probably fed 4. It took about an hour to be prepared and we didn’t even get the entire order. We were missing the egg rolls. Booooo! Not too thrilled. Call us food snobs, It’s not 100% ruled out if we’re starving, but being from the Bay Area where there is authentic ethnic food on every corner, we’ll make the drive if we want an amazing meal. :/

Ok, it’s not inedible, but it is sure not good! Ruben and all you other Unilocalers who raved about Panda Garden, you are cray-cray!!! I have no idea how this place survives. It is so weird! Chinese host, no Chinese servers/waiters. All the clientele and servers are Latino — rule #1 about any ethnic restaurant: clientele should be the same ethnicity of the food being served to ensure authenticity. Alas, we were stuck in Prunedale on the way home from Monterey and completely desperate, so we stopped at Panda Garden. Anyway, I asked the waiter for tomato beef chow fun, wet style. He just sort of looked at me. Chow fun? Yes. With tomatoes? Yes. And beef? Yes.(((dumbfounded look))) For realz? Yeah tomato beef chow fun! Standard abc fare! It arrives and it’s hella greasy and not wet style! Blahhh! And now my 2.5 month old daughter is screaming and crying because it is way past bed time and she hasn’t eaten because she has acid reflux, and I have to take this grossness in a to go box and eat it outside with screaming child. OMG. I just about lost my mind that night. Never again.

I have only been once, but the portions were generous and everything we ordered tasted like it hade just been made to order. It was super fresh and very tasty. This was a huge surprise because it is in sort of a strip mall and I had no idea such a gem was hidden here.

I’ve come to this restaurant the majority of my life living in Prunedale, so this restaurant is the central hub of chinese take-out for Prunetuckians. In recent years I feel the quality of the food has really declined. In my adventures in chinese take-out, this is the only place that I have found to be adequate to satisfy hunger but the taste itself is really lousy. Every time I’ve eaten here, I experience a taste of metal in my food. It’s most apparent in their sweet and sour sauce. I thought I was anemic, it was so strong. That really turned me off to their food and, while it’s unavoidable that I eat it with my family on occasion, I offer to drive the extra miles to get my food elsewhere. To be fair, the kids that work there for their parents give the best service they can and are really polite and attentive.

I’ve given up eating here. About a year ago we started getting takeout, and the food was pretty decent. Recently it’s been going downhill. I’m not sure if it has changed owners or not, but the food is definitely worse. The sweet & sour tasted like it was fried in rancid oil, most other dishes were bland, seriously lacking in taste. I can no longer recommend eating here.

another, I go here because gramps likes it. the food is pretty sad, greasy chewy. I just get the war won ton which is usually safe at most Chinese places, gramps always tries to get me to have some of his but I fib and say I can’t because of my braces lol. good thing though is that the service is always good oh and I do like their tea it has a nice grassiness and that little pot stays hot the whole time some how

fresh vegetable and lots of food. Have only done the take out. Person on the phone has a hard time understanding what you want to order. Great local restaurant.

I’ve been coming here for years with my family. The food is really good. Probably the best chinese food I’ve ever had in California. I particularly love their sizzling rice soup, chicken corn soup as well as the sizzling house pan noodles and the orange chicken. The food is always served quickly, as well as nice and hot. My only real gripe with the place is the service. The older chinese lady who usually waits on us is incredible. Very nice, welcoming and serviceable. Over the last year though, a teenage girl or an older chinese man usually attend to customers, and their service isn’t nearly as good. The girl looks to be always distracted, and the older man seems fairly rude and unapproachable. Still, the food is incredible and we keep on returning frequently.

I’m amazed that Panda Garden has not had any reviews yet… It is FANTASTIC! I love Chinese food, and this place is downright delicious. Gigantic portions, and every single thing we’ve ever ordered has been the bomb! Their hot and sour soup is really good… lots of meat and great flavor. Empress spareribs and House Pan Fried Noodle in Sizzling plate are specialties and both fabulous(and did I mention enormous portions??) Hands down our new favorite Chinese restaurant. You will LOVEIT!
